Buyer Beware!!! If you show up 15 or 20 minutes late, or have an emergency (at their discretion) you will be charged a fee. I totally understand that. However, their fee is 50% of the entire service! So if you have a cut and color, that's a LOT of money. However, tonight I had a haircut at 6:45. She wrote me and said "running 15 minutes late tonight, could you come in at 7?" (which means 20 or 25) but regardless, I said I could not make it bc my husband needed our car. I said that and could we reschule? I was then contacted by the owner that *I* owed 50% of the service bc I couldn't come. Naturally I asked how that was fair and the owner said " [stylist] was available at your scheduled time. She politely did not want you sitting waiting on her." What...the stylist asked if I COULD come. No I can't. She was not available at 6:45. Beware. 50% can be very expensive & I've never heard of a stylist being late and YOU having to pay for it if you can't fit it in. read more

Absolutely loved my time at Jules&Zoa salon! I went in for a consultation with Jules (the owner) for a full color correction. She was very detailed and helped explain to me all choices and results of said choices. When it came to finding my stylists she paired me with Avery. I've sat in Avery's chair twice and have never felt better while someone worked on my hair! She's very informative and makes sure you feel heard and comfortable. I've been to Jules and Zola four times for haircuts and highlights. The first two times I went in I was growing out a bixie, and so it was just cuts to keep my short hair in some semblance of style. Third time I went in I got highlights and a cut. The highlights were great, the color was perfect and they were blended well. The cut wasn't quite what I asked for, but it wasn't horrible. The fourth time I went in was just for a cut, to take my shoulder length blunt cut bob and angle it towards my face - with a picture showing exactly what I wanted. I ended up with probably the worst cut I've had. The stylist cut my bob into a very short stacked bob on one side, and didn't touch the other side. It's nothing that I asked for. It'll take several months for it even to get to a length where I can get it back into an angled bob. It seems like the quality of the service is very hit or miss. I won't be returning, read more

I came in from out of town and was recommended to this salon by a friend. I initially went in for just a blowout but made a (GREAT) impulsive decision to ask if maybe I could get a root smudge to blend out what I had came in with. Katie quickly fit me into her schedule. Her and Julie came up with a formula and a step by step plan to bring my hair back to life. They even wrote it down for me in case I need it back home! Disappointed doesn't even begin to express how I feel about my experience with Jules and Zoa. I started seeing Lauren in May, and my second (and final) appointment with her was on 7/16. I wanted to go 1-2 shades darker for fall; an easy fix which I figured would run me about $100 considering Lauren's menu has 'hair color' at $65. I've had my hair bleached, colored, balayaged, babylighted, etc. I am not inexperienced when it comes to hair color and I know what the process is and what to expect. After I sat down in the chair and showed Lauren my inspiration photo, Lauren had to bring over Julie (the owner of the salon) to discuss. I showed the photo again and Julie had to coach Lauren on the process to deposit the color onto my hair. Lauren literally said "so that's not balayage then" and Julie agreed. I was not in love with the end result, but that is a review for another time. When it came time to pay, Lauren provided the services slip to the receptionist who rang me up - I never saw what was on the slip. Lauren then left and the receptionist told me the total was $275 which I was quite shocked at. I told her to add a 15% tip, which should have been $42. She rang me up and then told me my total came out to $345. I don't know where that amount came from, but none of that math adds up (and I'm an accountant). At that point, I should have disputed the charges right there, and I am kicking myself for not saying something. I sped home to look online at what I was charged and noticed that the services under my appointment had come out to $300!? It was late in the evening at that point so I decided to call the salon the next day. I called on 7/17 at 12:06pm and spoke to a receptionist and I explained that something didn't look right on my charges. They didn't match the menu that Lauren showed for pricing, and I was charged for services that I didn't receive. She pulled up my account, agreed, and thanked me for bringing it to her attention and said she would pass it along to Julie who would get in touch with me. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. I called again on 7/23 at 9:48am and spoke to Hannah. She said she didn't see my info anywhere, took all of the information down again and said she would give it to Julie but that Julie was traveling so it might be a day or so before she got back to me. Still nothing. My last call was on 8/11 at 8:45am. I left a voicemail at the salon for Julie with my contact info. I also messaged the salon on Instagram (which they read and ignored). I have never heard back from them. I filed a complaint on the BBB website because I was so clearly overcharged and taken advantage of. I was the second person to file a complaint about being overcharged. I can't believe a salon owner would stand for this, and I will definitely not be returning. Hopefully potential clients read this review and don't make the same mistake I did. read more

Ooof... wanted to like this place. Called the salon to book highlights. Specifically stated and described bright, blond highlights. Said nothing about "accent pieces" or just popping in a couple here and there. Gave a description and said bright, blond highlights. Was aware it was not "full" as I'm aware that's another service. In looking at the menu of services, the first highlight option is available for $110, which one would assume is the partial and the one I thought I was getting. I exchanged a few pictures with the stylist. Additionally, she shared some with me. We agreed. I realized she was just placing a bare minimum amount of foils in just random spots. Not sure they even had time to process. There was some sort of revolving halo behind me blowing cool air for a few minutes, then I was taken back to the bowl for something she kept calling a gloss. I'm not new to getting my hair done, but just figured this was some sort of ritual for their salon. They're all different in nuances and verbiage. I'm not the hair expert, they are, so I trusted the process since we had both agreed on what the outcome should be. Fast forward... left the salon looking the exact same way I did walking in. Less blonde, actually. Hair looked darker and mostly one color. And highlights were ones already there long before I walked through the door. Trying not to be awkward, I stated it looked no different. She said "maybe it was the glass." What? I just paid for a highlight, so we probably need to figure that out. Also... where did the gloss idea come from? No idea what that even is, nor do I need the salon manager to explain it to me as they later kept tying to educate me on their service menu terminology. I called the next morning and the owner had me come in the following day. Yet another 2 hours I did not have to give, but nonetheless. The term "focal" pieces kept entering the convo. It was a conversation out of the twilight zone for sure. I finally got a good look at the menu on the owners station. Come to find out they were only giving me "focal" pieces which translates to 6 -10 foils supposedly, then a gloss. This is apparently what I had been booked for. Not partial highlights for "$110." No wonder I was confused about a "gloss?" The owner was very aloof and dismissive about acknowledging she knew I was expecting the highlight service for $110 and didn't get the service. No matter how many times I tried to tell her, she just kept referring to the focal pieces and gloss service. For the love of god this is not what I asked for. If someone booked me under the wrong service description, that is the salon's problem. Not mine. Ultimately I need what I paid for. I kept telling her I didn't sign up for said gloss service. Her very lackadaisical solution to "fix" my hair was to put in 3 small foils just around my face and now you know for next time. I asked her why it wasn't going along the top of the head like a partial should. Every time I was reminded of the "focal" whatever service I was handcuffed to upon the first appointment. Not even made by me . Complete and total twilight zone. Then she went back to the gloss, this that and the other. LOL. I just wanted to get out of there. My fault for wanting to find a local KC stylist. I'll have to stick to my stylist in another city. Cute salon. I can see how a place like this meets the needs of a suburban in a smaller city. Slow paced and you just get what you get. My hair still looks the same. The owner's 3 foils the second time made no difference. It's simply not what I thought I was paying for and not what we agreed on. My feedback is that they listen to what the client is asking for. If there was no time for that service, I should have simply been informed. Also, if you haven to go to the lengths to take your client outside or the front window with a magnifying mirror to show them your work, something's not right. When I am in social situations, I want my hair to look how it should look. No one is going to be interested in me whipping out a light and mirror every time I walk in a room! read more

I have been here several times for both balayage treatments and haircuts, have been serviced by multiple stylists, and have never been disappointed. The environment is very cool, friendly, and open, and the level of expertise is top-tier! They really take their time to do exactly what the customer wants well. My sister recommended this place to me after she herself had an amazing experience. We both got our hair done by Katie. I came in with a video of what I wanted and they were able to match that to the best of both my hairs ability but also theirs. They are very welcoming and try to help social distance and make customers comfortable as much as possible. They even do a consultation beforehand to see where your hair was at and give you an estimate of your price for this today. My outcome was amazing. It was mouth dropping to see the comparison. I came in this evening for my first time and had the beautiful Skylynn give me a new do. I went in with the intention of wanting something drastic and I definitely got it, I love my new look! I've been a little paranoid lately about my hair getting thinner and Sky used wonderful product on my hair to make it look so full! I'm excited to try the new thickening shampoo and conditioner I purchased. Hands down my favorite part was the amazing scalp massage I got while having my hair shampooed, it was heavenly! I have long hair and am always anxious about a cut from a new person but she kept all the length while getting rid of the dead ends, and saved the day with the bangs I decided to give myself in quarantine.
