Anna did a wonderful job cutting my hair!! She listened to me explain how I wanted it to look and asked great questions to confirm before the service. I even loved the way she washed my hair, not too soft or rough with her hands. The mini scalp massage was a plus. I left with a beautiful shiny blowout that lasted for 3 days!! Definitely recommend her and will be back for more services! read more

I went to the glam room a week ago for my birthday to get all over color and a haircut. First impression when walking in was so beautiful! Their new location is absolutely fantastic inside they even have a boutique and since it was my first they offered me a beverage and gave me a tour! Hospitality was very nice there, though I did not have a great experience with my service. I had shown my stylist pictures of what I wanted to talked about it throughly with her, even came in an hour earlier just so she could get just what I was looking for... and then I left unsatisfied. My hair looked nothing like I had shown her, the color was not even or correct, my cut was not even and choppy. I really had high hopes considering this was the first place that popped up when I searched best beauty salons in KC. It definitely has a wonderful vibe there, just did not get what I was wanting and honestly very upset about my hair, it was a big cut for me and for it to be messed up is devastating. read more

I've been coming here to Riley for over a year now and love it! I show her a picture of what I want for my hair and she gives me exactly that. I've loved every haircut/color I've gotten here. It's also a great experience as you are offered a complimentary beverage (they now have a coffee shop too) and you can shop around in their in-house boutique while you wait or on your way out. read more

I have had several experiences at this salon. I spent $500 for Botox to have a black eye not a bruise but black eye for over a week. I had eyebrow laminating to end up with RED brows. I am a burnett. Anna did not tint my eyebrows because they were thin and it would dye my skin but she failed to tell me they would be RED. I looked up on Reddit and that is common - would have been much appreciated if she had told me. I now color with brow dust. Overlooked both of these until I got a hair cut. I wanted a blunt cut bob with a few layers. Left crying with the "can I speak to your manager hair cut" from another Anna. I understand mistakes but come on GLAM how can you be a full service salon and hire bad beginners. I feel I can go to a cosmetology school and do better. I want my money back. The salon was very nice and the staff was friendly. When I scheduled my hair cut, I requested an experienced stylist and wanted a precise cut. I have thick wavy hair I blow out straight. I asked for little hair thinning and said I was ok with shortening my layers some. My cut is un manageable. The left side of my head is very different than the right. The stylist did no sectioning and cutting precisely. She thined my hair excessive amounts into the shape of "Linda" on the cartoon Bob's Burger. As I look at the reviews, it saddens me that I am the person that had the bad experience. My stylist was distracted by trying to manage the staff while cutting my hair. read more

Omg this place is amazing. I was able to get in with Justin and his associates, and they were all amazing. I could not have been happier walking out of there after looking for a hairstylist, for the last few months, I found my spot and not only that they have everything there, I can get my facials, hair makeup, botox, pedicures, manicures.They also have a little cafe and a little boutique. I didn't leave with any, but it was nice to learn about what the salon stocked and how it could help my hair. Anyway, a few minutes later my stylist arrived and led me downstairs where the magic happens. I showed her a few photos and explained what I was wanting and she went to work. Roughly 20 minute later - I had a new cut. The cost is competitive. I paid $40 plus tip (February 2026) and was in and out in about 40 minutes. I'm going to stick with my main guy, but I will recommend because I enjoyed my experience.

I would give my experience at this salon negative stars, if I could, but I only had the "pleasure" of dealing with one stylist. I don't feel like it's necessary to punish the whole staff for one stylist's behavior, so I gave the salon 2 stars. The salon itself seems clean, and looks very nice. I scheduled an appointment with Tatum, because she had issued a referral incentive card for $10 to a friend of mine. I wish I could give a positive review, since this business is just starting out. Unfortunately, my experience was a complete disaster. When I first presented the $10 card to Tatum, she looked annoyed. Because of her strange attitude, I felt obligated to pay the full price, which would have been fine if my haircut looked good (or even presentable). The stylist seemed generally disinterested and distracted throughout the appointment. She seemed offended when I asked her to try to preserve the length, because my hair grows slowly, and made a snotty comment about how everyone thinks she's going to cut off all of their hair. When I told her that the lights in the room seem to reveal all of my gray hairs, she actually had the audacity to say, "you have more than a few. I was going to ask you how old you are." This was completely inappropriate. She criticized and pointed out the flaws in my current haircut/style. When she noticed how long my hair was taking to blow dry, she asked if I use pantene products, because she seemed to think my hair felt like it had a "waxy" coat on it (I use, and have always used, products like aveda and bumble&bumble). I couldn't tell if she just did not like me, so she was acting passive aggressive, or if she was trying to gouge at my insecurities to sell more services and products. Either way, I was entirely unimpressed. She was apparently frustrated with how long it was taking to blow dry my hair, because she stopped when the hair was still partially damp to flat iron it. I definitely heard some parts of my hair "sizzle" when she used the flat iron. While she was doing this, I looked over at the brush she had been using on my hair to see that it was completely covered in blonde hair. I have dark hair. She had initially retrieved the brush from the top of her station, and it clearly had not been sterilized since it's last use. It wasn't until I got home that I realized how bad the actual haircut was. My hair was an entire half of an inch longer on the right side than the left side. It looked "chunky," and I could see almost every cut she made. The haircut was almost more of a disaster than her social skills. I feel like this stylist really needs to go back to being someone's assistant, and probably needs to get some lessons in manners and tact. There may be really good stylists at this salon, however, Tatum is definitely not one of them. Pick a different stylist, or a different salon. UPDATE 3/11: After Tatum saw this review, she decided to contact me by phone in order to attempt to ameliorate the situation. Initially, I thought it was odd that she would contact me directly to address a review that I had written on yelp, but I believe that she had good intentions. Between the time that I had received her voicemail and the time I was able to call her back, she ran into my friend (who gave me the referral card), and decided to tell her, "that Amanda girl doesn't like me," (which may or may not have included more "colorful" language). This comment made my friend, who was also one of her clients, feel extremely awkward. When I told her that I found this inappropriate and unprofessional, and I explained that this type of behavior only alienates people, she responded by saying, "don't talk to me like a 3 year old." Perplexed by this response, I tried to explain to her that she should try to take my feedback at face value, and she can either ignore it, or use it to improve her business. I'm not sure what she was able to hear at that point, as she had obviously become rather defensive. I will say that Tatum did what she could to repair my unsatisfactory experience, and I think that's commendable. She has quite a ways to go when it comes to hair technique and interpersonal skills, in my opinion, but hopefully she'll improve with experience. read more

Attention ladies! If you are looking for a full-service salon I have great news for you! The Glam Room Salon in the Riverside area of downtown Kansas City is a diamond in the rough. I recently was referred there by a friend (she always got great haircuts and told me about the place) and I definitely did not leave disappointed. Upon arriving I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist who promptly offered me a glass of wine while I waited. Did you get that? She offered me FREE wine! My stylist was great and listened attentively to my hair issues and the kind of cut I was looking for. She brought out magazines for me to look through until I found the cut I wanted. She used a deep-conditioning treatment on my hair that sat in it while I got my eyebrows waxed. She talked throughout the process, which made the time go by and made me feel comfortable. While I was there I noticed several kids getting their hair cut, which was nice considering other upscale salons don't' even bother to cater to smaller children. There was a constant flow of customers coming in and out, which means other people know this is the place to come for a great cut and friendly service. I also observed a few girls coming in as a group to get their hair and makeup done. They must have been going to a bridal party or something but they were sure enjoying the wine! Their hair and makeup looked great, and one girl was completely transformed by the process. After my hair processed and she cut and styled it, I was completely satisfied. She kept as close to the picture as one could hope for. I love my new hairstyle and would recommend The Glam Room to anyone looking for a great cut and style in a relaxed but professional atmosphere. Kristen for hair and Savannah for nails at The Glam Room are awesome!! I would follow Kristen to the edge of hell to get my hair done, but I don't have to. The Glam Room (in the River Market/my hood, whoot whoot!!) has an eclectic feel, demonstrated in the unique styles of each one of their stylists. It has a hipster vibe with no trace of judgmental hipster superiority. I have curly hair and my hairstylist Kristen Asher (who has been through Diva Curl training) knows what to do with it! And if you have unruly, triangle, dry, split end prone curly hair like me, you know how important that is. She gives my hair the shape it needs to look good wither I wear it blown out or curly. Kristen is honest enough to curb my appetite for impractical cuts and colors and kind enough that my ego doesn't even notice when she does it. She is an awesome colorist and I always leave her chair with a need to take my hair out for a night on the town. Kristen definitely doesn't charges any more than most for a cut, color, and style. I could afford it when I was a poor student and she hasn't raised the prices on me in the 3 years I have been going to see her. Also, I just recently got my nails done by Savannah at The Glam Room. I was a little leery because it was more expensive than the generic, strip mall, walk in nail salons I was used to. The Gel Polish Manicure stayed 3+ weeks without a chip, crack, or peel!!! Not to mention, there was no trace dead or dry skin left on my hands/cuticles; nor bare nail visible when Savannah was done. I now know Savannah's prices are very reasonable (for what you get out of it and how long it lasts)! I have gone back to her, and will continue to do so. read more

I recently visited the Glam Room on a whim! I had walked by and heard great things, so I made an appointment for some highlights. Nothin' crazy! Just some caramel-ish highlights on my very dark, very course hair. My stylist was sweet and talented- though I admit, I was very unhappy with my outcome. It was far more than I wanted, and just too light for me. Not bad, just wrong for me personally. I...like most... am picky and protective of my hair! She went to every length to fix my hair for me! TWICE she met with me to attempt to correct it. When ultimately I had to go elsewhere (out of convenience) to fix what was simply poor communication on my part, their manager contacted me personally to make sure I was happy overall and would remain a customer, which I will. Hair can be somewhat unpredictable, and its always a risk to visit a new stylist or salon. A simple mistake was made and everyone really came together to ensure that I could still trust them, which I do. Though I was unhappy with my brief and only slightly disappointing experience- I can tell that they are a talented and responsible salon with a wonderful reputation. I absolutely recommend them to anybody seeking out a new salon. They certainly did not have to accommodate me, yet they did without hesitation or the slightest attitude. I meant to submit this review in a more timely manner, but as a busy working-outside-of-the-home mom of 4, I finally have a quick moment to do so. I will rewind to the haircut prior to this experience. Due to my busy schedule, I decided to go somewhere closer to home than where I was used to going, and because sometimes someone else's scissors on your hair will get you out of a rut. They stylist who cut my hair at the "new" place (which was referred to me by a friend) used a razor waaaayyy too much and completely shredded my hair (I was going from an assymetrical bob to a shag). After my horrible experience, I researched (which I should have done in the first place), which led me to the Glam Room (thanks, Yelp!). I scheduled an appointment with Kelsey, and she was excellent. She took a look at my shredded hair and was honest about the fact that shorter hair isn't her specialty. She did a great job on my color and gave me a haircut to get me through a transitional phase until I could see Alexis, who does cut short styles. I really appreciated her honesty. I then went to Alexis a few weeks later, and I LOVE my hair. She currently has an apprentice working with her as well, named Dakota. They were both exceptional. I have another cut and color scheduled in a few weeks, and I look forward to it! read more

Amazing wedding party experience! I was the matron of honor at my sister's wedding and we had hair and make up done at the Glam Room. Lucky for us the wedding was on a Sunday, and they agreed to open their doors just for us! The atmosphere was modern and open, very clean and comfortable with sophistication. They greeted us with a tray of mimosas (ummm, yes please!) , showed us the coffee bar area (all the coffee fixins for those who had a late night!) and showed us around the salon. They let us use a room to hang all of our dresses and belongings. Then we got down to business. Between hair and makeup they had us all timed, and we started and ended on schedule. We had 5 doing hair and 2 doing makeup. The owner checked on us several times. Did we need anything? More mimosas? Are you liking everything? It was perfect. And the end product was just as exceptional as the experience. The hair and makeup was gorgeous. The bride, my sister, was stunning. They even let us get dressed there, which worked out perfect since some girls finished at different times. Thank you so much Glam Room! Since getting hair and makeup done is a good chunk of the wedding day, picking an awesome salon is SOOO important. Definitely check out Glam Room! I am a new client at The Glam Room, but a regular client of Cassie B. I absolutely love the look and feel of this salon. Everyone is so kind and helpful. The space itself is so pretty and gives off a very fun energy. I totally tell everyone about it. Cassie is an amazing hairstylist, she took my drab box color red hair to an awesome gun metal grey with violet highlight, this did take some doing and nearly 6 months to accomplish, but she stuck with me even after I started hacking on my own hair (that apparently is a big no-no) and was on the verge of just having her color it back to brown, but she still stood by me and made sure that the end result was exactly what I had wanted all of those months ago. I had such a great experience here. My hair was long and frizzy and dead and extra bad from traveling all day. I was not happy with it and wanted an expert opinion- someone who could look and feel my hair and optimize its potential because I'm clueless. LIZ from The Glam Room did just that! All I knew was I wanted the dead hair gone (which was most of it) and a low-maintenance style that I didn't need to use heat on. With only that info to go on, Liz worked her magic and now I keep looking at my hair and smiling! It's so much lighter and frames my face in a way I couldn't have described. Plus I got an awesome head massage and some great beauty products out of the deal (no upselling- I asked for the suggestions). S/O to Liz for a great afternoon and an even greater haircut! I LOVE my hair! It is not often you can walk out of a salon and say that and truly mean it! Not only on the day of the cut and color ... weeks after. I am an older woman with a few grey hair and the stylist added hi-lights and low-lights to compliment my skin tone and the tone found in my natural hair! I have received so many compliments after my cut and color and even now weeks later. I will never go any where else! I had a facial with Jojo. She is amazing!! Not only was my facial experience outstanding, she was also very knowledgeable about how my sensitive, aged skin would react to certain treatments which set me at ease for the treatments she used. I especially loved the scalp and neck massage - so soothing. Jojo also did a great job shaping and trimming my brows. I walked out feeling fresh-faced and renewed. The atmosphere in the Quiet Zone waiting area of The Glam Room and the spa rooms are very soothing and comfortable. I could feel my tension releasing before my facial even started. 10 Stars!! For my daughters birthday, she wanted her hair dyed blue, purple, and pink. I set an appt with Cassie . She talked us through the process for that day as well as options for maintenance. The end result was an amazing piece of art. It was gorgeous, thoughtful and amazing. I never thought that blue/purple hair could be so glamorous. As for me, the mom waiting....I enjoyed my time in a massage chair, had an amazing hydro facial and finished with a nice cold beer. The atmosphere and the people are amazing. I saw Rebecca as a first time client and due to a scheduling glitch that was no fault of the salon, I was double booked. The staff made sure I had everything I needed and my wait time was very minimal, despite the freak scheduling mishap. Kelci and Julia are an amazing team! My cut is always spot on! I trust and appreciate Kelci's advise and her hair care and styling tips are so helpful. I made my appointment with Rebecca McBain. When I came in, I had hair down to my waist, it was very damaged and over processed from bleaching. She was very patient with me and talked me through which route we were gonna go with cut and color. We ended up doing a huge chop! And the outcome was better than I expected! Naturally I asked how that was fair and the owner said " [stylist] was available at your scheduled time. She politely did not want you sitting waiting on her." What...the stylist asked if I COULD come. No I can't. She was not available at 6:45. Beware. 50% can be very expensive & I've never heard of a stylist being late and YOU having to pay for it if you can't fit it in.
