This location blew me out of the water. I really underestimated the size! I went in looking for the Lolavie travel set for a trip im going on soon. I called first, and they said they had it! I came on down like I won a grand prize on the price is right . As I walked in to the store I was amazed by the size! Just like a whole beauty palace , lol . Karin, who helped me on the phone, helped me get to the things I was looking for with no hassle and with some help from her coworker. I looked at all the products they carried from this line and am pleased that they carry most of it and have stock. I will say that the house keeping was a little dusty. You can find items from the most affordable drugstore brands or the high end Kiley and other products. Ulta Beauty consultants know their product lines and are so great at suggesting items for your needs. They have great sales and honestly it's just fun browsing around the store. I went to the Brow Bar today and unfortunately my eyebrow technician was 15 minutes late to the appointment because another client had run late. While I would have appreciated a call letting me know in advance that the appointment would be later than expected, the employees were all very kind and Taylor did an amazing job with my eyebrows and my sister's. The wax she used was also gentle and painless, and she helped us sample Benefit skincare products as well. Also, she was so quick that we weren't even late for the obligation we had afterwards--despite the late start to the appointment. Will be going back! read more

I went in to Ulta today to purchase a new perfume. I was pretty excited because I typically stick to the same few perfumes, but I was ready to try something new. When I went inside, they had tons of perfumes, but no way to test them. I know COVID is making people a little weary, but to have all that perfume and absolutely no way to try it out is absolutely ridiculous. It makes sense as to why they had so many perfumes in stock. So I went to ulta tonight when I got off work and was looking for a specific hair oil. I could not remember the name to save my life. Kaylee came up to me and asked if I needed help. I told her I was looking for a hair oil in a cylinder bottle that was yellow and she took me to EXACTLY what I was looking for. I later was looking at setting spray and Kaylee had come up to me again. I asked her one question about it and she let me know I had the wrong one and showed which one was the one I was looking for. I am from Southern California where there is eyebrow threading shops on every corner so when I moved her I was shocked and honestly nervous about getting my eyebrows waxed for the first time in YEARS! I tried an unnamed place in Gardnerville and was extremely disappointed to say the least. after mustering up the courage to try one more place I decided to try ultra beauty. Mary Beth made me feel so comfortable and well prepared even before she started waxing. I couldn't say enough about how great she did! Scheduled an appointment for a full makeup application. Found out appointment was at the MAC counter so I wasn't worried cause I know MAC makeup artist are real good in applying makeup. Went in 15 minutes early and had to wait since makeup artist was not in yet. 5 mins passed my appointment time and was greeted by my makeup artist. Sat on the chair and he was still trying to set up. Finally after 10-15 mins after appointment makeup application began. I asked if he could apply lashes and he stated they cannot apply lashes or mascara. I was upset because when I booked the appointment it stated they could apply lashes. During my appointment he used his fingers to apply some of my makeup and mind you he was having allergies and rubbing his nose and face. At the end of the makeup application I had to do my own brows, mascara and fix whatever makeup that want applied well. The one hour makeup application (appt time was 12:15pm) turned into a 2-2.5 hour appointment (done by 2:30pm) and I almost missed my cousins wedding ceremony because of this. read more

5 stars for Customer Service! It was a rough start, me and my 12 year old daughter girls night out. Hair salon services could use some oversight and supervision. Very simple haircut request, could not deliver. If you are looking for anything other than a trim, I would go elsewhere. Satisfied with the resolve of the situation from the manager Miss Ronnie and staff who were above and beyond nice and comforting to my daughter. On the makeup side, a nice gal helped my daughter with some eyebrow products and helped her select the right one. She spoke to directly to my daughter (not me) respecting my daughter like the customer she was. Super important. Often times younger folks don't get the respect they deserve as paying customers and all of the staff at ulta made her feel really special and heard. read more

Super helpful! I have 0 experience with cosmetics, but I pulled my little sister for Secret Santa. So, I bit the bullet and tried the store out. As soon as crossed the threshold a very kind service representative picked me out as not knowing what I was doing, and swooped in to help me (I wish I remembered her name so I could mention her). For the next 20 minutes or so she walked me through the basics of nail polish and nail art. By the time we were through I had a fantastic nail art starter set put together for my sister. Additionally all employees cleaned surfaces they touched and properly wore face coverings. Prices earn a 4 star, but that is mich more of a coment on the industry than the store. I have always been treated politely, professionally, and promptly, as well as with friendly service. Worst customer service ever! It's a Sunday evening and I ran in to grab a mac powder. I didnt know that they were closed. It was 6:04 and this African American (manager) lady starts yelling at me"We are closed, you need to leave, the doors should be locked!" I wish I could give them a lower score. I went in there today looking for a matte green eye shadow knowing my odds were pretty slim, one girl was happy to help and showed me a few different brands but we couldn't seem to find anything no big deal. It was friendly and pleasent. Where it took a turn was when she asked one of her coworkers if she knew of any brands that might have a single matte green eye shadow. The girl helped look for a minute and then went "i think nyx is your best bet" I told them both thank you and I'll manage with what I can. As I turn around to head to check out I hear the two girls talking and the second one just go "ya that is literally not worth my time" It's like a mean girls club in that ulta. Ulta has a very large inventory with different salon products for your hair and face, including styling equipment and fragrances. Their point and rewards program is pretty good in that they will usually send weekly coupons with savings and freebies. Their brow bar or waxing services are mediocre. Nothing special here, in fact, I much prefer waxing in my small town than here at this chain. Here's where they really fall short.... as I previously stated they will send rewards subscribers weekly coupons for freebies. I will say that probably nine out of 10 times they are out of those items. It is completely frustrating as it is not an occasional occurrence, but instead, more of the norm. Yes they will find a substitute but it is often times an inferior product. read more

This place just destroyed my wife's hair, that was done prior to our upcoming vacation. She only wanted 2 inches taken off, so her hair would be just below her jaw line. What she got was some weird, A-line type haircut, that was so uneven, it looked like a 5 year old cut it. It was supposed to be one length around her whole head, but was not only almost "crew cut" looking in the back, it was in steps, half way up the back of her head. Truly shocking. She was hysterical, and was ultimately refunded the cost of her haircut. She now has to go to another stylist, to fix this mess, as she doesn't even want to leave the house. If you want a professional hair styling, look elsewhere. This place is abysmal. read more

It's my daughters 13th birthday! She just got her hair colored for the first time! We had decided that now since she is 13 she could wear some mascara and a little blush. I take her to ULTA in Carson. We walk in and I go to the cash registers where this group of ladies are standing. I tell them that I'm pampering my daughter for her 13th birthday and if they can do a very light makeup (mascara & blush). I told her will purchase the mascara and blush they put on. She tells me "no sorry we can't do that!". I told her that was disappointing and she just told me I'm sorry and fake smiled. Soooo bummed I took my daughter to sephora and there they did a free little mini make up with no hesitation, for free! I bought mascara and blush for $70 bucks and made my daughters day! read more

Stopped by here while I was visiting back home because I needed to stock up on some goodies for my trip. I feel like since I used to work for Ulta back in San Diego I'm always hard on other locations because you know the way they should look. With that being said this was a very nicely kept location! Legitimately the worst Ulta in the country. And with COVID they are even worse. The first bad experience I had was in there salon with a completely incompetent hairdresser. My most recent experiences were during covid and it is such an uncomfortable atmosphere in the shop. My first order was a pickup during Covid, and while online they say they will place your purchased items in the trunk or back seats the employee refused and proceeded to set my items in the street in front of my car! Upon reviewing that purchase I was given an OPEN Kopari coconut melt. In which I was forced to go inside and exchange for an unopened product. The manager was unapologetic about giving me a used product! My In store experience was even WORSE! The employees wander around aimlessly instead of stocking they are sanitizing the air i walked through. If you absentmindedly take off your mask prepare to have a rude comment thrown at you by management as you raise your muzzle back to your face. Oh and as far as viewing testers or sampling a color forget about it. Also, they are misadvertising products and charging full price instead of honoring their customers and charging as advertised. This review is for the customer service I received today. I usually come in this store to get my eyebrows done, and that experience has always been stellar. Today, however, I just came in to purchase some face wash. When I got up to the counter to pay, the woman (older lady, gray hair and glasses) literally looked me up and down and gave me the nastiest glare ever. I realize I'm 9 months pregnant, but I didn't think I looked THAT awful. Then she preceded to avoid all eye contact with me for the rest of the transaction. As someone who has worked in customer service myself, I was taught to treat the customer with respect and always greet them with a smile. This lady just made me feel plain horrible. Wow, I'm really surprised at all of the terrible reviews because I haven't had anything like the other experiences. I personally think this Ulta is a great addition to Carson City because we're so lacking in a higher-end beauty store. I don't know if Carson City will sustain it, but I'm hoping so. I've come here several times since they've opened and I've always been greeted kindly and assisted with every need I had. The only exception to this is my latest visit in which they were out of a particular product, but I'm hoping their inventory gets replenished because it'd be such a pain to go to Reno just for one item. Other than the basic store features, I got my eyebrows waxed by Taylor. I haven't gotten my eyebrows waxed in a few years because I usually do threading, but since there isn't someone reputable in Carson City for threading, waxing with Taylor it was. She was GREAT! I was surprised and pleased. Not only was she super sweet the entire time, but the waxing process wasn't nearly as painful as I seemed to remember. My eyebrows are back to their non-busy selves and I couldn't be more relieved. I admit that I'm still a threading addict, but for the time that I'm in Carson City I will be going to Taylor. I highly recommend her, and by the look of her appointment book, she's got a lot of other clients who do too. Ulta's still an incredibly new store and maybe that's why they've had a few problems. So maybe they're working through some kinks. My experiences have been perfectly fine and I would suggest giving Ulta a fair chance. read more

Ex: I approached the front when a girl named Kelly said, " yea must have been on drugs" into her headset piece. When I asked her what her manager's name was she laughed and said she forgot then said "oh yeah Sarah" The attitudes of every person working there was very evident, are we in high school? One girl proceeded to follow me around the aisles never once stopping to ask me if I needed help only until she saw me waiting in line to be checked out, if I found everything okay. I went in with my mom (67 years old, never been in a makeup store) and she bought an eyeliner that happened to be a sample. Another employee gave my mom an attitude and almost was laughing under her breathe. She walked over to get her an unopened one. I made a complaint into their corporate office because I don't want anyone to feel the way I did or have to experience what I experienced and witnessed. I got a call from the store and someone named Ms. Ronni called me to tell me it's company policy to assist customers in the store ie. Being followed and watched up and down the asile's ; it's policy to be informed if there's a treat to the store ie. the drug comment and it's policy to alert management of any problems ie. The use of the radios. How ever if there was any management involved they sure as hell weren't coming to assist for something threating. And she tried to turn the drug comment and gossip into management needed to be aware of any " threats" With all that being said I've never written a bad review about any business and I know we all have off days. This is clear to me that they are still in a high school mantaley of gossiping, bullying, and sterotyping their customers, to which management seeks to defend, basically telling me I was wrong. I hope that they improve their approaches to their customers but I will never go in there again. These are trying times for everyone and we all need to be putting kindness into this world now more than ever, not taking away from it. I will not stand for bullying and will stick up for myself and others. Don't go in this store to support such behaviors, actions, and management. It's clear to me someone needs to come into this store and take over management that's allowing this behavior to continue. I left that store feeling sad for my mom's experience and customers being profiled on their appearance by the staff. My 15 yearl old daughter went into the Carson Ulta to get her eyebrows waxed around 415. The lady told her that she was expecting someone and to come back at 5. My daughter said she was also cranky with her but thought maybe she was just having a bad day. She came back about 4:50 and a different employee told her that waxing technician was gone for the day.
