Highly recommend Michelle, a Lancôme consultant, at Harbison Blvd, Columbia, S.C. She 'knows' and can recommend the perfect skin product(s) for the season/skin, eye makeup colors to enhance (and hide), type of foundation based on need/perfect color as well as the tricks of the trade for application. She shared her expertise and also took the time to explain a products' benefits based upon my needs/concerns. To date, I have been using the makeup and skin products that she recommended for almost a month. I have noticed a positive difference in my skin, ( more hydrated and brighter) and her makeup tips have given me a more natural look in less application time. When I got there I asked for long layers and LONG bangs.. even showed her a picture.. well needless to say she had no clue.. cut my bangs like a 2nd grader.. pulled my hair so much I had to take an Advil when I left.. she kept blaming it on the hair straightener.. and when she was cutting my bags she poked my eye with her scissor... when I left I was almost i tears so upset.. they stated a mgr would call me and it's been almost 2 wks with no calls.. horrible.. and didn't seem like anyone there knew what they were doing.. I absolutely love this location!! The ladies are super friendly and accommodating even when they are out of stock. They offer free shipping if you can't pick up an item in store! I also go to Beverly in the hair salon, she recently gave me a new look with a vibrant red and my husband loves it. I loved my hair so much that I decided to get a facial from Lahra and her hands are magic, her product recommendation and service has my skin so smooth and bright! I am so upset at how I was treated at ulta today , I went there to get my hair unmatted due to faux locks causing my hair to mat up. The lady named VALERIE agreeded to undoing my hair which means a COMPLETED SERVICE !!!! I was there from 10 am - 1 pm and I only came out with three strains of hair undone !!! On top of my hair not being completed like VALERIE AGREEED TO DO , and said she could do I had to pay $300 dollars !!!! That is $50 for every THIRTY MINUTES !!!! That is unheard of and absurd . Straight robbery . I can not believe someone who has a compassion for hair meaning being a cosmetologist , could feel right even charging me that when nothing was completed !!!! After speaking to the manager HEATHER she agreed that the $300 should be paid even seeing my hair still not done or even looking touched , she had no sympathy for me having to leave there paying that $300 and my hair still needing to be serviced !!! Super thankful to the ladies at this Ulta today! I've been to a ton of makeup stores and honestly gave up on asking for help (and on wearing makeup altogether) because most of the time I've noticed the people I ask don't listen to what I want at all and I walk out with the most expensive thing in the store that doesn't work for me. A recent PCOS diagnosis and lots of family events coming up led me back to makeup to try to deal with my skin issues. The ladies here offered to help so often that I eventually just asked for help! For my dry skin and desire to not have a heavy base (despite plenty of acne and discoloration), I was recommended the Tula primer. I tried it on when I got home and I'm absolutely amazed! They took all of my needs into account, didn't deplete my budget, and gave me some of my confidence back. My boyfriend even said my skin looks better. I'm absolutely thrilled and over the moon thankful. Super excited to try out the samples I was given too and guessing I'll be back to try them in full. Thank you!!! read more

I got my brows tinted and waxed yesterday. The lady (Shannon) that did my eyebrows is super vibrant, great personality BUT did an awful job on my brows. First, I said I do t want thin brows, she made them thin. Both of my brows were left burned (never happened before) and she clearly free hands and doesn't do the brow job the "benefit way". I'm pretty disappointed, now I have to wait and do all the work over again to grow them out. Probably would t chance it with the brows at this location if I were you. read more

I went and had a perm done with Michael. He is very sweet and gentle. It cost me $103 for a beach wave perm and a trim. About what I expected. The manger there is amazing. By far the worst Ulta I've ever been to. I was half heartedly greeted by the staff who had nothing else to do since it's 1:30 on a Wednesday afternoon. I had to approach an employee who seemed to not want anything to do with me since they all went out of their way to avoid making eye contact with me. I informed her that I was looking for makeup to cover my tattoo and stated I needed to do a color swatch. She walked me over to a particular brand and proceeded to show me the darkest shades they had. She didn't even inquire where my tattoo was nor did she even pay attention to my actual skin tone. The shades shown were 5 shades darker than my actual skin tone. How does one assume I need the blackest shade available? I informed and displayed to her my forearm which is fairly light. She picked up a shade and squeezed it on my arm. I had to blend it myself. I wasn't given an explanation on how to use it or anything. I said "this may be the shade", before I could even finish or figure out what I truly needed, she picked up the box so I could purchase it and walk away. After I continued to blend by myself, I discerned the shade she showed me was incorrect. I had to clean off the makeup to try another shade on my own. I looked for another employee, most of them avoided eye contact with me. All I needed at the point was some tissue to clean my arm off. I proceeded to swatch my own arm for about 20 minutes. During that time I observed other female consumers who came in after me, and look nothing like me, receive outstanding service, from color swatching to alternative brand options. I guess I wasn't good enough to receive the same service. I assume restocking the already filled counters was more of a priority. You would think that people who choose to work in a cosmetics store would JUMP at the opportunity to assist consumers with their cosmetic needs. I know I did when I worked as a makeup artist for a highly reputable brand. Maybe my red locs, brown skin and forearm tattoo was off putting, I'm not sure why my experience was worse than the other shoppers inside at the time but what I do know is Ulta will not receive any business from me. I will also post this to all of my social media accounts so others who look similar to me know that they will more than likely be treated the same way. read more

The Sandhills store employee named LaKendra was very unprofessional. She argued with me because she was mad that I made her call two other stores to find an item. When she called the other stores she didn't give them the item number I provided but a description of a product. I was upset because a description doesn't help when looking for an item. She informed me that thy didn't have what I was looking for. I came home, called the Garners Ferry store and he had three of the kits in stock that I was looking for. So she lied because she wanted me to believe the item was an online only item. This store is 5 min sites from my house and I will never shop here again. This is such a poorly stocked location. I had an entire list of items I wanted to purchase using my 20% off prestige coupon. Only one item from my entire list was available in the store. Most items available in this location looked extremely pick over and were poorly arranged on the shelves and displays.
