Went during the rush of last minute Christmas shopping so I expected it to be busy. Not a problem. The problem I did have was getting attention of the workers there. First I went from not being able to even find anyone and then I saw a woman who just stood around near the perfume section (which I needed) and locked eyes with me MULTIPLE times (with a face that said don't talk to me) yet refused to see if I needed help. Employee, professional hairdressers called, spoke with the manager and explained that I had a 17-year-old that was getting ready for a prom pictures and I did not want the same experience that I had the last time I had brought her in where she left crying! Showed me that wouldn't happen but guess what she left crying because the person that actually did her hair did not listen to her and at the end of the time she said I have another appointment. What can I say, the only thing that can make Ulta Beauty receive less than five stars would be their service. And this Ulta Beauty did not disappoint in that area. As a matter of fact, the ladies that helped me and my girls were very helpful and knowledgeable. they took their time with us and made us feel welcome. I also booked an appointment for a waxing service and it went really well. Catterra did a great job. She was gentle, friendly with good conversation, and knew what she was doing. I go to this ulta out of convenience. It's a hit or miss with the greeting. I think out of the 6-8 times I've gone, I've only been greeted once. Not a huge deal, but when you walk into the store, no one says anything and a min later someone else walks in and 4 people tell her hi...it's a bit awkward. Also, I look pretty young so I understand the lurking around me and checking out my hands before asking me if I need help. Im not trying to steal. I had roughly 180 dollars worth of items, and one qualified for a gift from that brand. At the checkout, I watched this woman rummage through all these "free" items to tell me they didn't have anything and she doesn't see this specific one. LOL. I'm glad to have an Ulta in Davenport. We need a place to get quality makeup in the area and with the Sephora in JCP gone, this is our only alternative. Unfortunately, the fact that it is the only location to get such products is evident in the store. I went recently on a Thursday afternoon and I kid you not, the line was along the entire right wall of the store all the way to the back. All I needed was a bottle of my MAC foundation and it was over 20 minutes in line. That's crazy. There were 3 people checking out, but there was another person up front who seemed to be doing nothing. I also went to Ulta for their hair salon for a time and I didn't really care for it. I followed my longtime stylist from a different salon here and by moving here, her prices automatically went up quite dramatically. She didn't change and she wasn't doing anything different to my hair, but her prices went up over 20% just by being located in Ulta. Additionally, I didn't like the salon in here because it felt like I was on display while getting my hair done. It's not closed off in anyway, you just sit a in a chair at the back of the store. It's weird to me. Overall, I am glad I don't have to drive 45 min to get quality cosmetics, but like many things in this area it is just overcrowded/understaffed. read more

Ulta salons have always been a hit or miss for me depending on the stylist. I like the convenience of Ulta since it's close to home and somewhere I regularly shop at, plus I like earning reward points on my services. Elsie at Posner Park, has always done a beautiful job. I saw a different stylist yesterday as Elsie wasn't available during the time I needed. My appt took close to 5 hours, my color looks darker than when I went in, and the prices have increased. Personally I'm not a huge fan of this place but the kids shop here on a regular basis. On this particular occasion I was out with two of the kids and they wanted to pick up a couple things. We picked the worst possible day because of weather but we're able to get in and do a bit of shopping between the raindrops. They spend quite a bit of time looking for a couple of items and could not find what they wanted. Usually they're shopping for hair care products and occasional bits of makeup. We had nothing picked out and we're getting ready to leave when I reminded one of them of one item that they mentioned they wanted and they realized they had forgotten to look for it. They were able to find it and we left the store with them being satisfied with their purchase. Lots of parking around here at Posner Commons. There are accessible spaces throughout the lot. Most of the stores do not have accessible doorways but you can get around fairly well with a wheelchair. read more

I came here to get my hair cut. I asked for a length a bit longer than I got, but not the end of the world. I also ask for face framing layers and overall layers (I also explicitly stated that I did NOT want curtain bangs). It's one of the worst cuts I have received, and I booked with one of the "Elite Stylists". I straightened my hair this morning because I felt like everything was a bit uneven and I was correct. Not only do I now have bangs instead of face framing, they also don't blend in, but are more shelf like. The layers I received are too high and not blended in with the rest of my hair, either. The staff was so sweet and constantly joking off with one another but I would not recommend this salon for a hair cut. I love Ulta stores. The lighting is amazing and the selections are the best. This location just opened and looked so sparkly. The shelves were well stocked and everything was very clean. That's what earned the 3 stars. I was very hopeful for a wonderful experience. Sadly I was very disappointed. The service was non-existent. I wandered around for about 10 minutes checking out all the lovely things. Two sales people looked me up and down and said nothing to me. I picked up different products, tried some testers, and still no contact. I observed they were chatty with others, mostly teenage ladies with their moms. I was completely ignored for the entire time I was there. They saw me, they even walked past me, and never offered any assistance. They chose to chat with each other, and cast an occasion look around to smile at others and offer assistance here and there. I found what I wanted to purchase and headed to the register. I stood alone in the queue waiting for the stylist to finish her conversation with the cashier. They both looked at me several times as I waited. They talked and talked. It was around 7pm and the stylist was complaining about something earlier and told the cashier she had to clean up. She assured her everything was all set and she wanted to leave. After a couple of minutes the cashier said she was ready to help me checkout. $95 later I was leaving and noticed one of the makeup area salespeople giving me another look up and down. I don't normally feel so uncomfortable at these stores. I would have hoped the staff would have been more friendly and helpful, like the other Ulta locations usually are. Maybe it's going to take them time to get up to standard, or maybe the staff that chose to ignore me need to get comfortable with their beautiful new store. read more

The quickest way to turn a customer away is locking up your product and requiring an employee to get everything for you. Went in to buy perfume, had every intention of purchasing one today. Every perfume tester is now locked behind glass and has to be unlocked for you to smell it. This is fine for people just repurchasing a favorite but when you're looking for something new this is extremely annoying and inconvenient. No one should have to feel like a child while shopping. Booked a Signature Haircut at the Ulta Hair Salon with Kimberly C. She was referred by my sister, who usually comes and gets a curly hair cut. She must have had pent up frustration or something personal going on, because she took it all out on my head. In retrospect, I was in that chair for 30 minutes or less receiving a beat down. The whole process was rushed. The deep conditioning treatment was left in for seconds max. And when she did my blowout, which I didn't ask for (I guess it's included in the package) she was pulling my hair so hard I was left with a sore neck. That coupled with the constant aggressive slamming of the brush against my scalp, was brutal. I did complain, and she apologized told me to put my head down, improved, then reverted back to the rough heavy handedness. And this is coming from someone with a high pain tolerance. I've been vacationing in Florida since mid-January and my hair was completely faded and bleached from the sun. My daughter went here today and was discriminated against because of the way she looked. My daughter is a BEAUTIFUL person who is part of the LGBTQ+ community and Erica (who is also the manager) gave her a hard time asking her for ID and then told her if she couldn't afford the stuff to leave the store. My daughter called me crying and I called the store and spoke with Erica who was then rude to me. I have been to many Ulta's all over the U.S. as I travel allot and I have never had issues or been treated like that by anyone in an Ultra store. If I could give the salon a zero I would. Don't walk, run from this place!! I went to Kim in March at the Davenport location. She has a child so I never complained. But 9 months later, My hair has barely grown. How bad, you ask? Try having hair to your shoulders one length and then having the whole top crown area taken down to an inch to three. I have naturally curly hair and this will take me years to grow! Years!!!!! Stevie Wonder could do a better job. I had to buy a topper and then a wig. I'm so disgusted with this place. I never asked for her to cut my hair in this way. I don't know if she's on drugs or just sucks. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!! Don't go to this place if you want to come out looking like a human being.
