I am not sure why the low reviews. I try to visit ulta 2 to 3 times a month and never have issues. It's always fully stocked and someone is always ready to help. I have been getting my hair cut and colored by a stylist at Ulta in the Dayton Mall, Izzy, for the last four years. Izzy is a Color Master; my hair has never looked better, even though my hair is quite thin. I cannot recommend him enough! My daughter trusts no one else with her hair, which is naturally a curly dark brown. Every time she comes back from a session with Izzy, she is smiling, confident, and loving her hair -whether it is now Auburn, Chocolate, Blonde or Highlighted! Izzy is also a very kind and caring individual...I truly enjoy our conversations when getting my hair done. Ulta at the Dayton Mall is also stringently following Covid procedures that make me feel safe. I find myself always regretting going into this store when I leave. They have what I need most of the time but the customer service is seriously lacking. I walk around the store and am not ever asked if I need assistance. Their salon area is usually empty and no one is ever around to ask questions should you want a service. I witnessed a gal the other day stand there for 5 minutes with no one around to help. I would have left had it been me. They typically have a high turnover from what I see and don't typically have a regular esthetician on staff for any of their skin care services. I just may stick to ordering my items through their online store rather than going into the store. read more

Received a hair cut from Tina at the Dayton Mall shop. I told her not to cut any length off just a trim. She not only snatched me bald there are more holes in the cut than a golf course. Update. I made an appointment to get my hair touched up before a trip to Sarasota for New Years. I called and it turns out my stylist was promoted and was no longer at that location. They said they were giving all of his clients to a new guy. Needless to say, he did bleach over bleach highlights on very long, processed (but still extremely healthy and shiny) hair. I was only processed for 10-ish minutes. I also do not believe that he could properly do long layers. He also for some reason used a razor to blend my side bangs with my layers. I left with chunky banana yellow highlights, with 2 layers, and extra late 90's bangs. I had to return the next day and have the color fixed, I was so upset. Stacy was the one who fixed my color. She did a conditioning treatment & a platinum toner. It fixed it temporarily. She did the best she could and I probably would have gone back to her, but the risk of running into that guy again, and the time it took to grow out really stopped me. Not to mention, I moved to NKY. I have no problem with paying $135 + tip for great color & haircut, but to not be in a relaxed atmosphere & feel hideous until I can "fix" my hair is not worth it. I got a cut and style on Dec 30 2014 at The Dayton Mall Ulta Salon. By a male stylist named Izzy. I brought a picture and asked several times to be careful not to cut it too short, especially the front. I ended up with an almost chin length bob. The style I asked for was an A line bob. The front should be several inches longer than the back. So now a week plus later I STILL hate my hair cut. One side is noticeably longer than the other and on the other side where he decided to give me fuller longer side bangs is just a big chunk of shorter hair that doesn't blend in with my bangs and just messes up the whole left side of my hair. I literally started getting teary when I saw how short it was. I was told "you'll get used to it" and "it's much healthier now" Basically. The stylist DIDNT LISTEN. He clearly isn't skilled enough to cut hair into a specifically stated style and he really should have been at least a bit contrite when I left after getting teary and after I said I really don't like it and after I said I really wish you would have listened and not cut it so short. Now I can't wear a bun. Which I told him I like to do several days a week. I have to blow dry and flat iron it to get it to look good and I try very hard to only do that 1 time a week to avoid damage (now I HAVE TO or it looks like crap) I feel like I shouldn't have paid. But I did. Getting married in 8 months. Hopefully I'll have enough hair to do something with by then. read more

I scheduled an appointment for a formal makeup application on a Saturday morning. There was no wait time, which was nice. The associate who applied the make up was very kind and polite. She gave me exactly what I was looking for, and it turned out to be very beautiful. I was surprised when at the end of my appointment, she didn't use setting spray to lock in the makeup, especially since I told her I was going to an outdoor event. It was too humid to go without, so I needed to use my own spray when I got home. I would give a much higher star rating if I only rated my experience with her. At the check out, my total was $92.xx, and I gave the associate a fifty dollar bill, two twenties, and a five. She called another associate over because she could not figure out how to count the money, and kept telling me I was twenty dollars short. I was repeating that "those are twenties, not tens," as she was counting out loud "fifty.. sixty.. seventy.. seventy-five.." Of course when someone else came over, they counted the money and gave me my correct change. The line was kind of long, so removing someone from their register is not ideal to keep the flow going. Fast forward a few hours, after my event, I used makeup remover and a facial cleanser to remove everything from my face. My eyes were watery the next day, but didn't think much of it, but also did not apply any makeup and wore my glasses all day. The following morning (today) I woke up with a giant, painful stye in my bottom eyelid. I never share my personal makeup for this exact reason. Clearly, proper sanitation procedures were not followed, and something was dirty enough for germs to build up and cause an infection. So a doctor visit and prescription were needed first thing this morning. I can deal with a cashier not knowing what they're doing, but getting an actual eye infection is something totally different. This was the first time I've used the makeup application services at Ulta, and will never use them again. I would not recommend that service at all. read more

I booked an appointment online, there were a few slots available so I picked the one in the middle (not the last appointment for the day). When I arrived, the stylist told me the girl before took too long because she was booked as one thing (I think it was a single color), but she wanted highlights too. She said she "tried to call, but there was no phone number." I was waiting for about 15-20 minutes before she told me she wouldn't have time. I'm confused how this is possible because there was a later time slot available to book. I called customer service and they were going to send a small credit to me for my time, but I never received it. The only other time I went here was a few years ago, I had my hair colored and she talked me into a mini facial. when I was there, the girl told me she also had a business out of her home and she gave me her contact information. Kind of unprofessional and I'm not sure if that's even legal. Probably won't be using this salon ever again. read more

I had a bad hair experience at another salon and I was told Ulta is the best, NOPE Sure isnt. I went there had an appointment at 3:15p got there early so I could get some new skin care products and makeup, cause Im in desperate need to freshen up my look, I am in a serious girl rut here. So the hair stylist gets me in early while shes working on another woman, which I find rude and distasteful. So I tell her I want my roots fixed and all blonde like my blonde I already have or I want brown like my roots pulled down through my hair and my roots touched up. How hard is that right? Well She ends up weaving me, my whole head, and left bleach on my hair for well over an hour and half. then she finally gets to the rest of the top of my head and that only was in about 20 min, so time to wash shes going back and forth still between me and another woman same woman she was already working on at 2:30 when I arrived, puts toner in my hair leaves it while she goes to work on the other woman again, meanwhile this whole time people shopping kept interrupting to ask her questions so again she would stop to answer and talk to other customers, so the toner comes out of my hair she takes me to the seat, she hacks my hair with scissors, its terribly uneven, and then sprays a bunch of crap in my hair, At this point its been 3 hours so she was going to take me back to dryer so she could finish the other woman I said no I need to get out of here its been three hours, and I had her hand me the dryer I blew my own hair dry. She then has the nerve to charge me 34 for the haircut and dry and another 117 for the color. At this point forget makeup because the store was closing. My hair to the touch felt disgusting, and looking at it looked greasy and nasty so I go home to wash my hair and get that crap out of it, and come to find out it was FRIED from the bleach. Which is why she put all that crap in my hair. I called guest services today they said would be 24 to 48 hours until I get a call back, called another store asked to speak with the district manager and she wouldn't allow the staff to give me her number instead took a message two hours ago and still no call back! Customer service is seriously lacking. There is one gentlemen that is fantastic, but if he isn't there you are out of luck. Today three ladies stood at the cash wrap gossiping when I approached them for a product one responded to me "look on the shelf, if it's not on the shelf we don't have it, I mean I could look for you if you want me too" as I walked anyway they turned back to each other and she said loudly "anyways..." I agree with other customers they're not particularly friendly or helpful here. I only get greeted when I walk in and after that ignored. Very disappointed in customer service! Went on a Saturday evening looking for black gel polish. Arrived at 8:30, half hour straight i looked up and down store for this one item. No employee offered any assistance. The nail polish selection was skim and a complete mess. I could only find one bottle of item i needed but it was in wrong location. 9:03 realizing store was closing i went to cashier to quickly ask if this was only product to choose and she was completely clueless (second time I've asked cashier questions about products and she didn't know a thing, nor offered to find out). She told me to ask other two associates at other end of store. I walked to them asking and associate blew me off as she walked by telling me to check towards nail salon. No one walked with me to help. I still couldn't find where she directed me and when i yelled out to her if i was in correct area she responded by yelling across store that they were closed! COMPLETELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!!! It was 9:05 by that point and obviously i understand employees want to go home but if she was smart she would do what she could to help customers in order to get them out quicker. I told her i know store was closing but i was hoping to get the one product i came in for and i could leave quickly because i didn't want to stick around either! I left pissed off and wasted my time as well, walking away without what i came for, a product that Ulta should have plenty of btw! After leaving there i went to Target. Within 5 min an associate there kindly asked if i needed assistance and took time to show me exactly what i needed. I have been a frequent shopper of Ulta up to that point but i will NEVER return to this store!!! By looks of other comments it appears I'm not only customer that had a negative shopping experience!! I've only been to this shop twice and both times I've been disappointed. The first time there were probably less than 5 customers in the store and multiple employees. I was looking for quite awhile and not once did a single employee ask if I needed help even though they walked right by me. I wasn't too irritated because it was my first time there and thought maybe they were just giving me space. However, the second time I stopped in this happened again! There is a nice selection but it would be nice to have some customer service without having to ask for help especially with the amount of employees that were just wandering around. I picked my items and went to the cashier. There was a line yet no one knew which way the line went since there wasn't a sign. Once I reached the cashier and checked out they had no clue which products had free gifts and I had to mention it at checkout. I wouldn't come here again unless I really had to. Instead I'de drive the distance to the Greene and go to Sephora instead. At least there I know I'll be bombarded with customer service! read more

Unfortunately my review is no different than the lack of customer service reviews mentioned prior to mine. I gave this place 2 stars because the beauty selection is amazing HOWEVER if you're new to the business or just unsure with the lack of customer service within you may want to try another Ulta location or another beauty store all together. I was just in this location as soon as it opened for the day, customers were limited however there were PLENTY of staff members. So many that several walked passed me and didn't ask if I needed any assistance, didn't speak or crack a smile. Granted, I knew exactly what I was in the store for but what if I didn't? And although I did, as a paying customer I deserve a greeting at the door with 3 staff members at the front desk. I deserve to be spoken to while browsing the floor. I didn't get any of that. Also my purchased qualified for free items that they allegedly out of but something else that was available could have been offered. That's what I'm use to when I lived in North Carolina. Ugh don't even waste your time and money on a group of rude individuals. Being in the beauty industry is a passion that is easily talked about, something exciting and enjoyable. I know being a licensed manicurist both in Ohio and NC. Get it together Ulta beauty of miamisburg , Ohio. Get it together or find a job not dealing with the public spending their money and even if money isn't being spent a particular day you can guarantee it'll never be spent another how rude these people are. Luckily for you Ulta as a corporation it wasn't my first time in an Ulta beauty location but miamisburg's location just might be the last for me. read more
