I was in Dayton for a wedding and wanted to get my hair blown out prior to the wedding. Based on Yelp reviews I made an appointment for my mom and I for Saturday morning at 10 am. We were a little early and Nina and Chloe were ready for us. Nina and Chloe talked with us about the look we were going for and then worked hard to achieve the look. They did a fantastic job of understanding what we wanted and making our hair look perfect. They explained every step of what they were doing and how they were making our hair a little "bigger" as it will fall during the day. My hair lasted all day and was perfect for the wedding. If I am ever back in Dayton, I would definitely make an appointment here again! read more

I am new to the area and had always gone to the same hair salon in Nebraska. When I got to Ohio I started looking around and came across expressions salon. I picked this salon because of the reviews and because they have pictures of their work posted on yelp. Due to the fact that I was doing something pretty drastic, I wanted to go with a salon that had proof (pictures) that they did this style regularly. When I got there (pretty early) Kait was waiting for me and ready to start the process. She took ample time to make sure we were on the same page with what I wanted and also to make sure it came out right. I was there for a few hours and she never seemed rushed. I woke up and decided "I want a hair cut and I want my hair colored and I want it done today". Asked a few friends for suggestions, had one call up at Expressions for me and see if there were any openings. This was at 12, I was told I could come in at 2 that day. I was extremely pleased with that! My appt started right on time. I really had no idea what I wanted and my stylist was more than helpful and understanding. Ended up with an all over color (blonde) and just a trim with a little bit of style. The staff is soooo friendly and professional, and I instantly felt as if I knew them for years. I also love the interior of the salon, very modern, clean and inviting. They offer a variety of services, of which I will definitely be returning for in the near future. I cannot say enough how pleased I am with their work. If you want a recommendation, ask for Kaitlyn. They also give $5 off for recommendations! So, if my mom went in and told them that I recommended this place or a specific stylist, my next appt would give me $5 off. Great incentive to keep coming back. read more

I spent my entire Saturday here and ended up with some kind of calico-ash brown gray hair and look 10 years older. I asked for more lowlights and face-framing highlights, nothing new or crazy-difficult, it's typically a 2-2.5 hour process, so when 4.5 hours later the stylist finishes drying my hair and It is yellow- blond and orange brass, and some reddish-Brown. I just started to cry. To their credit, they did attempt to correct it and "browned it down" so I at least didn't leave with the top of my head being yellow orange w streaks of red-Brown and green hue in the mix too. Such a bummer to lose the whole day to a process that resulted in a crappy color. The entire time I was there almost 6 hours (10:00-5) I was never offered anything to drink/eat as I sat captive in the chair through the lunch hour while they all got Wendy's, never asked or offered a single sip of water. I went to Expressions Salon last week when I needed to get a hair cut before I left town. Little did I know that I'd end up finding my new hair stylist there! I found the salon here on Yelp, decided to trust the two positive reviews, and scheduled an appointment with a recommended stylist, Caitlyn. She is hands down my favorite stylist now and I can't imagine I would even think about going anywhere else. She's super friendly, attentive, and experienced. Just what I was looking for when searching for a stylist! I live in Beavercreek, but the drive to Kettering area for this is more than worth it. My hair looked the best in years. Clean feeling place, girls were friendly enough and my appointment time was perfect. I came in to get layers and bangs cut. I showed a photo of exactly what I wanted, and was left with chunky, uneven, heavy bangs. To start, she cut them wet and only turned me towards the mirror to see once. They were lopsided and cut in different lengths which of course I couldn't fully see until they were dry. Won't be going back. read more

I decided to check out this salon after seeing so many good reviews. I had a good experience here. The staff was extremely nice. I lived my cut but my color was not exactly what I was wanting. The stylist did explain it might not be the color I wanted but it would be darker version of the one I wanted. Well, not even close! You almost cannot tell my ends are a different color. She bleached my ends and they were very blonde but the purple she put on afterwards did not take or something and that's the only thing I am unhappy about with this visit. My ends appear to be darker than the rest of my hair but definitely do not look purple at all! Other than that, I would and will recommend this salon to friends and family. This salon has cockroaches and is dirty. The front desk lady is rude and is always eating at the desk. Extremely unprofessional.

It's a good thing my hair is still attached to my head or else I might forget to take it with me every day. So it was not surprising that 12 hours before I was due to fly out on business, I realized my hair was a scraggly mess. At 6pm at night, most places were closed or blew me off. Expressions thankfully was able to take me due to a cancellation and I will be returning based on my experience! Wash, haircut, and blow dry was done well in a half hour and was reasonably priced at $35 for the quality. My stylist was extremely down to earth and a pleasure to talk with during the time. Honestly only Cosme here because my usual salon didn't have any level 1 stylists and I had a coupon from yelp. I called and made an appointment with Holly and when I got there, I was told that Krystal would be cutting my hair, by st this point I didn't mind much seeing as I was just getting 3 inches cut off which I thought would be easy enough. In reality Krystal spent an hour and a half cutting and drying my hair when it was a simple 3 inch cut. She didn't speak to me other than to ask how I wanted my layers though I told her I already had long layers and just needed them touched up. Overall, my cut was below average and took much much longer than my usual salon which charges me the same price but the quality and customer service is much better. If you are in the area, I would suggest trying out Pure Elements Salon and Spa as my whole family goes here and loves it! read more

I really enjoy going to expressions. All the hair stylists are excellent. Elaine at the front desk is beyond sweet and cheerful. She always makes one feel welcomed. Some of the other receptionists can be a little standoffish but don't let that stop you. The quality of the services are top notch. The salon is decorated is fun relaxing colors.
