I went shopping at the location in Deptford, NJ. The store was clean, the products were nicely displayed and the staff were friendly. As it is the holiday season there was a line to check out (which is to be expected) but the cashiers did a great job with checking out customers in a timely matter. I never actually got inside this place, my hair appt was so 9 am and the door was locked until 9:10 I checked 3 times, I called the salon and the nice receptionist said my stylist would be there to open the door so I waited but I really hated that I had to keep checking the door and stand outside like a vagrant or sit in my hot car so I left. I'm a tattooer and work in a similar industry and would never make my clients wait in their car past their appointment time regardless of my shop hours. I think it's super lame that I couldn't sit and wait for my appointment inside the store and had to start my hair appt late, when I knew my stylist already had another appt at 10am and was on a tight schedule, it made me feel like I'm inconveniencing everyone by being there. I don't know if it's anyone's fault, I'm sure my hair would have been fine, but it was a bad first impression from a place I've never gotten my hair done and I got a bad feeling about it. I probably won't go here ever again, but if you're planning on going here try and get an appt when the store is open, that was my mistake obviously. My girlfriend and my son were kicked out of the store because she was using a mini shopping cart from Home Goods to keep my son in one confined area while she shopped. An associate told her she couldn't have a shopping cart in the store while a lady with a multi terrain stroller barreled through got no grief. I didn't realize that Ulta was doing so well that they could turn away customers and to top it off my girlfriend used to work for Ulta where there was no such policy! This is probably one of the Ulta's with the worst customer service. 2 times I went to this ulta in one week and the employees are just overall rude. The first time I let it slide but this has happened twice in one week. I may be young but my money spends the same as anyone else. The first visit, I asked an employee where this certain brand of makeup was she didn't even look at me, didn't say anything to me, and asked another worker to take me there. Seriously? The second time was when all of the workers were in little groups talking and goofing off, I go to a group because I cannot find a single person working by themselves and ask my question and everyone except for 1 person looked at me and just walked away. New-ish location in Deptford next to David's Bridal and Old Navy makes this store easily accessible. The layout is large, clean and bright with a nice selection of salon quality goods. There is also a full-service salon located in the back of the store to make this a one stop shop. The hours are very convenient & the prices are maybe a little above average for the area but still competitive considering the products they use. read more

My sister went in today with her 3 month old infant in her carrier in a cart. The employee was extremely rude saying no carts were allowed due to COVID. Frustrating since there is a child involved, but understandable. HOWEVER, another employee was standing there without a mask on during this. If you're going to enforce something, be consistent. I went to Ulta beauty salon for a quick blowout and OMG!! It was not a good experience at all. First, lets start with the wash. I literally had to ask the stylist to wash my hair again because I knew it wasn't clean. I should have just stopped there but I didn't . Next, the stylist started to blowing out my hair and again when I realized she wasn't experienced in doing ethnic hair, I should again have stopped her and left but I didn't. lastly, when she turned me around I was so horrified at how it came out and that she act as if it looked good!! I looked stunned and asked her was she finished and she said yes, I wanted to cry!! However, I politely got up took the $42 bill she gave me and asked to speak to a manage. When I explained to him what happened, he was looking at my hair asked if he can try to fix it. I declined and he said that I did have to pay. I left, went home and fixed my hair. Employees act very stuck up and annoyed when you need help finding something. None of the employees are on the same page either. Each one will tell you something different from the one before, if they even acknowledge you at all. I had to ask at the register for help after hopelessly wandering the store without assistance for over 20 minutes. One employee was extremely condescending when I asked if they carried the ClarityRX line. She said, "oh is that a drugstore brand? I've never even heard of that." I hope afterwards she googled the brand, because her skin was pretty rough and could use the help. Seems like unless you're dropping $200+++ on the latest trendy makeup, no one in this store cares to help you. Sephora is such a better experience. In conclusion, ladies: please stop acting like you're professional makeup artists working for Beyoncé and Rihanna....because you're not, you're in Deptford with the rest of us peasants. I went in to get highlights as my previous ones had grown out. $130 later and my hair is DARKER than when I arrived. It appears as though they do not understand what the word highlight means. My hair reeked of hair dye when I left, which makes no sense as I am a natural blonde, so my hair only needed a lift. There are absolutely no noticeable highlights in my hair whatsoever, and everyone keeps asking me if I dyed my hair. I would not recommend coming here. They are ridiculously overpriced (I got partial highlights and my total was 130) and have no idea what they are doing. Now I have to pay AGAIN to have another salon perform the same service. read more

I am sitting in work feeling amazing about my skin! She makes honest and highly educated suggestions about products for each specific customer. This has been my first Ulta beauty store trip and I LOVED IT! Its bright and super clean and very large with a salon in the back! Pablo is one of the sales assistants and he is truly amazing. He is very well educated in cosmetology. I would search for him or ask for him for assistance with anything. This post is about Ulta's lack of customer service, salon care policy. Last week I walked into Ulta asking for a particular hair color/style. I told my soon to be hair-stylist how I was nervous for my first time receiving anything different than my usual black color. She was extremely reassuring and connected with me about having my hair done a certain way. I asked for my hair to be dark at the root and go into a blonde color, the style is known as balayage. From multiple people/hair stylists I had been told it's impossible to get from my black hair color ( I'd been dying black since I was thirteen) to blonde in just one session. I completely understood that it would take more than once. When all was said and done with the process my hair was only lifted to a chestnut which was expected. From the front I could completely see the color change and I thought my stylist did a great job. I was also very adamant about the healthiness of my hair. Overall the cost would've been 150 + 20% tip. For argument's sake it would've been $180+; however, I was fortunate enough to receive a 30% coupon and only paid about $105 and paid my stylist a 20% tip because of her work. After I was done I was excited to show all my friend's my new color, but no one noticed. Everyone said it looked the same and they only saw brown/blonde/black highlights in my hair. I was really disheartened and resulted going to a different stylist (assuming I could do nothing with Ulta). My new stylist who is a cosmetology student showed me my hair from the back and couldn't believe the stylist from Ulta let me leave with my hair in its condition. My hair was blotchy in the back and had brown/black and blonde all intermixed. I understood my hair was suppose to transition but I did not expect pay $125 for my hair to look patched together and clearly unfinished. If I were to go for more sessions, lets say about three more times (4 total) 125 for the first session and $150 for three more PLUS 20% tip, it would cost me $690. It should not cost me that much money for my hair to transform to balayage. For my one session by my cosmetology student, I only paid $60 for cut and color and she did an amazing job. She cleaned up the patchiness and was able to lighten my hair professionally without any damage. I finally called Ulta customer service and relayed my experience and how unhappy I was about my service and outcome. I in the very least expected some type of reimbursement whether it be giftcard or refund of my money, but my complaint was not worth the fight. I was able to contact the store manager who only offered to redo my hair with no charge. I explained to her that I had it redone and how it was nice of her to offer but, what I wanted was my money back. What the Ulta stylist did to my hair was not worth as much money as I paid for it. The risk of having my hair redone and destroyed even more by the company is worth more than their offer. I feel very lost with what to do with Ulta at this point and the least I can do is offer my experience to other people and give them a reason to go somewhere else. Ulta does not have a good policy with their salon care and needs to realize that this policy will stray people from coming in their salon. More people who are genuine about their hair would only request a refund. My hair is an important part of me that I felt the stylist took away and especially the company whose reaction made it worse by invalidating my concern. Ulta, you have lost a loyal customer and though I may be one, I hope I make people think twice before using your salon services. My sister bought me a miracle worker foundation at ulta in arizona. She sent it to me. We don't have a receit because u would NEVER look for expiration date on it! I took it back to my ulta in deptford and it cost $40 dollars and they offered me $16 dollars!!! I told them I just wanted an even exchange. They didn't care!!! I loved Ulta. Great selection of wonderful products at a decent price. As a once avid Ulta shopper I am sad to say that my last experience there was less than pleasant. As I was at the check out counter I asked the cashier if Lancome was no longer being carried by Ulta, the cashier in a very nasty tone said "No we have never carried Lancome" as she continued to ring up my other items, another sales associate told me that this specific branch did not carry Lancome but other Ultas did. Awesome I thought to myself! As the cashier taking care of me was throwing my newly purchased items into my bag I showed her my Ulta rewards card and she rudely said "Why did't you show me this ahead of time? I can't run it. You have to show me ahead of time" I had no problem with not using my reward points but as a once avid Ulta shopper (around 2-3 times a month) I was never told of this process. Since the cashier had such an attitude and such a nasty demeanor I will no longer shop at Ulta. Beware of the older woman cashier with a tad bit too much sun and glasses. She will have nothing nice to say and will be less than pleasant. read more
