Ulta is over priced to start with so this def doesn't help them push their bs agenda. They need to get a grip. The products they sell contain heavy metals like lead in the lipsticks anyway. I can skip the 30.00 leaded lip liner too! It's over priced crap in really pretty boxes. They emphasize celebrating our diversity yet they still think we all need makeup to cover it with. I went in asking to for a simple retouch of highlights. Andrea Correa de Moreno completely ruined my hair at this Salon. To the managers credit she tried to help to the best that she could. But, I have never had my hair ruined like this in my entire life. I've had highlights in my hair for over 10 years. My hair turned orange, red, and grey after Andrea applied a toner and clarifying shampoo. Andrea clearly has no experience in highlighting hair. Do not let this incompetent woman touch your hair!!!! I am still devastated. My healthy blonde highlights were ruined. Now I have dark black hair because I couldn't accept orange/red, and grey hair. I just moved here from Houston a I thought Ulta was a safe place to get my hair done. Unfortunately, I was terribly wrong. Update 1/16/2019 Ever since I posted this review the stylist Andrea Correa has been berating me on yelp claiming that I was trying to get free services. My hair was ruined by Andrea at this location and the nerve of the employees to harass me after I shared my experience on yelp should be enough for anyone reading this to know whom they are dealing with if they chose to go here. This is a brand new store right in the middle of the RGV Shopping Center. Ulta couldn't have opened sooner. No longer do I have to drive to Sephora at La Plaza, or to the Ulta near Mission to pick up some new make up. I can drive 5 minutes and grab anything from Benefit make-up to a Mason Pierson hairbrush. Wonderful salon with great hair stylists! I got my hair done and Erica showed me step by step what she was doing. My mom came in for a color consultation and Erica explained to her fully what needed to be done to get the color she wanted. I LOVED my cut! Definitely going back. Ulta is a little better than Sephora in my opinion because they offer a wide variety of drugstore brands and very exclusive/high end cosmetics. They have a new skin section where you can have a dermatology review with products picked out for your specific skin type. They also offer facial services in store, as well. (Trenton) BRACE YOURSELVES. This is long. PICTURES ATTACHED. & very, very, detailed. Ok, so I went to go get a trim, & possibly some layers. I got assigned to "cosmetologist" STEFANI VASQUEZ. I specified... I want you to trim my tips first, (zero degree cut, & about 4 in. Off my length. Keep in mind my hair was up to my pretty much my waist) After that, IF possible do long layers (180 degrees). I don't want my hair in the shape of a V, and I don't want my hair any shorter than maybe 4 inches cut off of the length, if that's not possible just stick to the 0, just cut a straight line. I also showed her a picture of MY OWN HAIR, with a line across where I wanted her to cut, I couldn't get any more specific than that. I lost count of how many times I specifically said "I DONT WANT A V SHAPE" Well Stefani here, decided to do her own thing. To sum it up... I got the biggest V in the history of Vs, & when my hair is curly, I had like 7 strands just there out of place, hanging. My top layer (which is supposed to be the shortest) is longer than the bottom layer (which is supposed to be the longest).. and the worst part.... MY HAIR IS SHORTER THAN MY SHOULDERS NOW (curly). ANDDDD!!! Even worse... She followed absolutely no degree. I got chops everywhere. Absolutely everywhere. I look like a cow had been chewing off of my damn head. She then proceeded to give me a blow out, possibly to defuse the choppiness so I wouldn't notice right away... I cried for about 24 hours, since I've been growing out my hair, and trimming to remove that V shape for over 2.5 years, and I have tight tight curly hair that was going to turn into an Afro. I called the store multiple times to speak to a manager, and I got transferred to 2. Both of them (Alyssa & Judy), told me they could offer me multiple free hair cuts, and offer me a hydration treatment for my curls. I specified I didn't need a hydration treatment since that was just going to revive my curls and make them tighter, and I needed something to calm them down. They both proceeded to tell me, They couldn't offer the treatment I needed since it's over $200, and the only way I could get it is if they already messed that up once, they did offer me a discount though. I said I wouldn't pay to fix one of their employees mistakes. But they continued to disregard my needs, (Alyssa with her snotty attitude) and try to sway me away with a hydration treatment. My needs were disregarded until I requested to speak to the DM of the stores, traci. (That's when alyssas time/demeanor gave a 180 turn) Although, they refused to let me speak to her, they decided to go ahead and help me with what I considered best for their fuck up. Anyway, Judy ended up helping me today, and she was the only upside of all of this experience. She was polite, & very professional And she was very concerned about what had happened to my hair, and assured me they were not going to let this slide. After all, I did go in for a $20 (promotional) hair cut that ended up costing the company over $200. I think the regular price for a hair cut is $45. Which is more expensive than getting an awesome job @ Regis at the mall. I also know, ALOT of previous cosmetologist from Dillard's work at the one by the expressway. Review for the Salon: My friend and I came to this Salon to have our hair done for a wedding. Although the people who work there are very nice, they seem like beginner level employees. Both my friend and I got a hair style. I was very clear in what I wanted my style to be like and they missed some of the most basic things I asked for- loose hair style, half up half down, I even showed a picture! And I said the main thing I want is for it to look loose. Well, my entire hair style was super tight on my head. Also the work was incredibly messy!!!! Loose hairs coming out! The stylist had to add several more pins to tuck in my hair! Not only that, the poof on my head was lopsided!!!!! Also, initially I had started out with a different stylist who said to the second one (who ended up doing my hair) that she didn't know how to do a braid. Why someone would say this in front of the client, I'm not sure. It definitely did not give me any confidence in the stylists there. My friend got her style completed before me and was unhappy with hers for the same reasons- messy, pins falling out and pins showing on the side of her head. I should have listened to my friend and gone somewhere else! What I understood from this interaction was that these people have a serious communication issue. They're so beginner level that they don't understand what is being requested and the vision gets lost. I really did not feel like I was offered any help, walked up to a counter didn't know it was for hair but still wasn't offered any help so I walked off. UNTILL GRIS approached me!!! WOW she was such a HUGE HELP!!!! Had she not helped me I probably would have walked out. I ended up w the perfect foundation concealer and eyeliner from Lancôme! If y'all need some good help ask for her I saw her attend so many women while other attendants just walked around talking to each other. So the 4 stars are because GRIS was so wonderful! Should have looked at the reviews before coming here. Asked for highlights and a trim. Took longer than it has ever taken at any other salon, which I was going to ignore until I checked out. I went to the register with my ticket, paid, and then left the store. I got called back because apparently it was the wrong ticket and they asked me to pay $20.00 more. So I had to drive back to the store to make the adjustment, which you'd think since it was an error on their part they would have apologized and not have made me pay the extra amount. They most certainly did charge me though. Will not be returning, by far the worst Ulta I have been to. read more

Good products. Their customer service is nonexistent unless you are in their "prestige" section. I was in there for a good half hour desperately looking for a match to my soon to be discontinued Sephora powder foundation and not until I grabbed a compact from the Lancôme section did someone come up to help me. Once I let her know I was not looking to spend more than $25 on a powder foundation, her smile turned to a smirk and she reluctantly helped me find a product on the opposite side of the store. Or I should say where the cheaper products are located. We found an almost perfect match. $6.99 each and at buy one get one 1/2 off. I purchased four. Hopefully this product works out and is as good as my Sephora powder foundation because I really don't want to go back to Ulta unless it's to replenish my supply. I had an Saturday afternoon wedding to attend. Called and made and appt the day before and wasnt sure if there would be any availability. The store picked up within the first few rings and redirected my call with no hassle. The salon manager booked my appointment without any problems. Ireland was assigned to be my artist. She was punctual and professional. I have hooded eyelids which some say are difficult to work with. She had mentioned she graduated recently but her skill level was pro. I was hesitant about having fake eyelashes done because of previous bad experiences. She said it would help make my eyes bigger and less "sleepy" (how I described my eyes originally). My eyes started to tear badly when she placed the first one on, mostly because I wasn't used to it. Ireland kept apologizing like it was her fault and kept asking if I was ok. She kept working with it until it finally took. She asked if I wanted to get my hair done after. I was worried I wouldn't have enough time but she was quick and efficient. Salon prices were reasonable. I was in and out of there in no time with both makeup and hair done. I also got to learn a few great tips from her. My boyfriend and his mom couldn't stop gushing how great I looked the entire evening! Makeup = amazing Hair = stylin' Ireland = outstanding I would definitely recommend this store for their salon services. Thanks Ulta and thank you especially Ireland! read more

Worst hair experience ever!!! Went in for highlights with Alfonso, a "master stylist" and got nothing close to a master look. This man ruined my natural hair color and left me with a brassy base color and green highlights. Manager did try to offer me a color correction service the next day, but I will not be returning. I wish I could give this location ZERO stars. I LOVE Ulta, but don't waste your time going to this one on Trenton. I have been here on three separate occasions, and each and every time the customer service fails miserably! I'm not the type of person who gets angry easily and I have a lot of patience, but here, it gets tested. I have shared my opinion of this location on my Facebook page and I got numerous comments from other women and friends that they have all dealt with the same quality of service here. Many have told management and still nothing gets done or has changed. Thinking of writing to corporate because this seems to be a problem with the entire staff. WORST experience of my life!!!! Went in to the salon to color my hair..My hair is already a blonde color so I went in trying to go alittle more of a platinum color. I went with a guy named Alfonso. He explained to me everything...but when he was applying on my hair he never mentioned the exact products which at that moment i didn't think much of it cause I figured he knew what he was doing. Hours hours later...I leave, go home to shower and i notice my hair was very very thin. (I have a lot of hair) so once I was out..my hair just kept falling out!! Literally chunks in my hand & on my brush. HE COMPLETELY MESSED UP MY HAIR. DAMAGED IT TO THE MAX. IT WAS SUPER DRY,and just HORRIBLE. I go back to the store after 5/6pm and none of the managers were there and the ALFONSO guy wasn't in the store either. MANAGEMENT THAT WAS THERE,WERE NO HELP AT ALL (manager at the time was named,jessika) And couldn't even offer a treatment,help,and refund..NOTHING! I'm literally going bald...as I type this. Love Ulta...took my daughter in early June to get her eyebrows waxed- Emily did an awesome job! She wasn't red or blistered. I went in yesterday to make an appointment with Emily not knowing she didn't work the next day. We arrived only to find out that Emily was not working and another girl named Crystal was going to do her brows. I was skeptical but let her do them anyway. I was so excited when the store opened at Trenton and 281. I have been there several times, not once has it been a pleasant experience. Here are some examples of issues: 1. Store is often out of product. If you find something you like, buy more than one. I have never seen a store with so many items out of stock in the makeup section. 2. Usually one cashier working. I have seen the cashier continue to sell items at the register. She commented on the customers selection and then offered to show her the rest of the line. The customer and the employee then left the area leaving no one to run registers and didn't come back for close to 10 minutes. I wanted to walk out, but I needed to pay for a service, so I couldn't. 3. The one cashier working was answering the phone and talking to customers who walked up to ask questions. Meanwhile I just stood there waiting for her to finish my transaction. 4. While getting my eyebrows waxed, a customer approached the lady who was performing the service and started asking questions, so the employee walks off and starts helping the other customer while I am sitting in the chair with one eyebrow half done. Keep in mind she stops waxing my eyebrows as she talks to the to the other woman and then just walks off without saying anything to me. She saw I was angry when she returned so she said she was sorry, but that was it, just an insincere sorry, she was gone for a while. I was seated right when I arrived at the store and it took right at an hour to have my eyebrows done and to pay for the service. Not to mention their prices are 3 X more than local salons. 5. Don't try to return an item! I wanted to replace a flat iron that I loved, but had purchased somewhere else. I thought I found the same one at Ulta, but upon getting home and looking at the item, it was similar, made by the same manufacturer, but wasn't the same. The next day I took it back with my receipt and went to see if they had the iron I wanted. I even had someone help me, but they couldn't figure it out. Most of the irons on display were not in stock and the ones in stock were not on display. Out of frustration, I gave up and asked for a refund. The item was still wrapped in plastic but the box had been opened. The cashier kept looking at it, giving me a terrible look and then looking back at the iron. She kept questioning me as if I was a criminal, but keep in mind I hadn't taken it out of the plastic. The cord was still wrapped and covered, the plates were clean, still wrapped, etc. They were okay with an exchange, but ANGRY when I couldn't find what I wanted and asked for a refund. I wrote to the company after each experience and never once received a response. I want the store to improve because it is extremely convenient for me to shop there. I guess I will go back to ordering online, but I hate when I can't see the product before ordering it. read more

I went in with a picture on how i wanted my hair and stylist took it upon her hand to do what she wanted and instead. instead of highlights i got my hair all bleached one solid color. Not to mention i didnt get a trim to cut the damaged parts nor a blowdry i left the store with my hair dripping wet. TO top it off the stylist had to text other people how to do certain things and when i called the store to complain the manager didnt wanna believe it and wanted me to go back in and pay for another service if i wanted it to get fixed. never again will i go back i had to call corporate to complain and tell them what happened and they had to contact the DM. While i was getting my hair done i see the workers there all doing thier makeup with the samples from the store, how nice is that right smh read more
