I love going to Ulta to get my hair cut and have done so a few times now, but this time was especially special!! I got to meet Angela, who cut my hair, and who is also a master stylist!! She's amazing at all aspects of the job; she knew what was best for my hair type, interpreted the style I was going for perfectly, and we had amazing conversation while she was doing so! I even got to meet her amazing kids for a moment as they showed up for a surprise visit for her, and they were so sweet? Case in point, it was one of the best haircuts I've actually ever had, I left a 25% tip and honestly wish I could afford to leave more! Angela is not only an amazing artist, but also a spectacular presence in general. I'm shocked she's not at a super fancy salon, but I'm grateful this service was available to me as otherwise I probably couldn't afford it Again, thank you soso much, Angela!!! Pretty sure this is my 2nd review of this place but looks like another first review has disappeared into the Yelp space. It's a great location for Goshen. I'm glad that we even have one being a "smaller" town! The staff is always friendly and helpful, and is always immediate on greeting. The store is clean and kept tidy every time I'm in. Although a beauty store, it is family friendly and inviting of those with younger children. I've been in a few time and seen little ones with parents and they have been welcomed as much as someone without. They will color match and help you find your correct shades, they did this for my teenage daughter as well. read more

This review is for a specific stylist, not the actual establishment. New Stylist deserves a new review. If you want to cut your hair super short and edgy the guy to see is Olsie. Not only is he good with haircuts, but also with color, and he will be brutally honest with you, and he won't do anything to your hair that will mar his good reputation...it doesn't matter how much you might want that haircut or color that you've got no business rocking to begin with, he won't do it, if it doesn't suit you. My natural hair color is dark auburn, so I started dying it funny shades of red before it became popular with every dick and tom in town. I had medium length hair and I decided to get a bob before every other chick at work decided to do the same thing...catch my drift here. So I walked into the salon and watch him work. He was working on this poor girl's bad hair color, which quite frankly I thought "this guy is a stylist not a magician". Nevertheless, by the time he was done with this girl's head, I was absolutely impressed with the color correction he had done...I did ask the girl for her phone number, and agreed to meet for coffee two weeks after because I wanted to see whether the color correction held up and it did! My turn. I walked in and I told Olsie what I wanted, and he chuckled, and he said "NO". He proceeded to tell me how the haircut I was sporting did not really bring out my face, and that the color was absolutely awful...flat out he told me "You are a short hair girl, my dear, and I don't care if you are kind of a natural redhead, it is just awful." I was not offended at all, and I proceeded to interview him about his training, and I was satisfied because I knew he just didn't go to beauty school for nine months and then got a piece of paper saying he is stylist. He actually did a 3 year apprenticeship, and then got accepted into beauty academy...all that said his work speaks for itself...you wouldn't go to a doctor who didn't to his internship would you? Why would you do the same thing with your damn head? At any rate, we proceeded to chop off my hair in stages, until finally two weeks ago, I went pixie short with no bangs, and I love it! You know a hairdresser knows how to cut hair, when they take you all the way short and you don't look like a dog recovering from mange. He understands the difference between giving a female a short pixie cut, and the difference between giving a woman a man haircut...NOT the same thing. Olsie is great at what he does. If you ask for his opinion, don't be pissy if you don't like what he has to say, at least he's more honest than yourself and your mirror. read more

I had been around Miami forever to find a good colorist. My co-worker recommended Stacey when she worked at a different spot, and she was amazing! She explained the difference between the latest techniques, and we looked at pictures until we both were on the same page (I was looking for natural looking balayage highlights). All I can say is wow! My hair is exactly how I wanted it, perfect sun-kissed highlights that strike the perfect balance between soft & noticeable. I have now followed her to the Ulta in Aventura. There's a woman who works at this store, straight hair, prob mid-20s, with overdone highlights, who is the worst. She's got that kind of fake cheery attitude that frienemies use where she thinks she's pretending she's trying to help you but actually she's being the kind of customer service rep that makes customers never want to go into a store again, that makes customers feel unwelcome, that makes customers leave their purchases and walk out because some overzealous staff member followed them around the store giving them a hard time for ---get this---trying on the samples of hand lotion. The kind of customer service rep who is actually a little mean, and not helpful at all. She's the worst. Rest of staff was ok. Kinda slow at the registers. Otherwise everything is fine. I had to give in and write review. Had cut & color there in 2012. Color ok, cut ok, but definitely not great. Color was basically horrible, and charged at full price. Color was not what I wanted, but color great so they got basic tip. But cut & color both wrong, and I wouldn't go back. Even have tipped Both salons. Might go back for cut, but never ever for color. Which is sad as need someplace competent and affordable for my cut & color to get me through times wonderfully talented daughter can't do color and cut. And now find out Boston marathon bombers got welfare and government support. Mad beyond words. No one checks these people? I can't fly with mom who has pacemaker without hassle, but student from other country can blow people up with no issue? Something very, very wrong here. read more

If you come here you must make an appointment with Olsi! He is amazing. Very creative and honest. If you want something done and he doesn't think it'll look good on you he will let you know. He also gives advice on how to properly take care of your hair and the color. I met him while trying to buy shampoo at this store and he took one look at my hair and told me what I needed to help make it healthier. I had a previous hair stylist whom I loved but Olsi definitely topped that so much that I've switched to him and come to get my hair done regularly. Olsi is amazing! I have not gotten a real hair cut in years, out of pure fear of them screwing it up. I went in for a hair cut, trying to change it up. I walked in and didn't want to remove the length and he agreed, I felt great since some reviews say he's super honest. But then honesty struck! He said, I don't know what your boobs look like under the drape, big, small, it doesn't matter bc if you walked into a room I wouldn't look at your hair color. I'd look at your boobs, we must do something about this color! I died from laughter! The man knows what looks good, coming from a type A, control freak! Relax! I mean tell the man if you refuse black hair, and a bob cut, but he does know what looks good with skin tones and face shape. I kinda would trust him with his eyes closed, ok no that's a lie. Staff was great! He's from Rome, went to the Vidal Sassoon school in Italy, man knows his ish. He fixed my color to brighten my face up. He's amazing at the bayalage. Very into the natural look. I love browsing in Ulta. I've been to this location many times. But today's experience left me speechless. I recovered, obviously. I came in to look at bare minerals and figure out if I need a different shade because I hadn't worn it in awhile. I grabbed a couple jars and some sponges and sat down. An associate approached and asked if I needed any help. I said, "I'm trying to figure out what shade I should get." Her reply was, "let me know if you need any help." And she walked away. Could have been clearer that I could use some help? I guess so. The moral: do your research first before you shop. I never did get any help. read more

I went to Ulta in hopes of finding someone to help match the correct foundation color since I'm new to the makeup game. I walked in to a friendly hello but then for the next 30 minutes no one spoke to me. I tried asking for help a few times but all the workers seemed to be more interested in talking to each other than helping me. I browsed their extensive selection but left empty handed. They have lots of options but don't expect to be helped by anyone in the store. read more

Please note that this review is of the actual Ulta store... not the salon which is located in the back. Before Ulta came along in this neighborhood I used to frequent Sephora just down the road at Aventura Mall... but who wants to deal with parking and traffic when all you need is a mascara? I have to say that every time I have walked into this store, it has been on a weekend... and I have been consistently disappointed with their stock of items. It seems that everything I ever want is gone. I have ended up having to try different things which I must admit has worked out well on some occasions (who knew that sometimes "new and improved" actually is new and improved?!) but for the most part I'm still bitter that they never have my stuff. The other thing that drives me crazy is that there is never anyone to help. Last weekend I was on a mission to experience the latest craze in products, BB Cream. In my mind, I had planned on being escorted by a knowledgeable and friendly sales associate around the store, trying different brands and shades, and was prepared to have my mind blown. Instead, I meandered around solo, found that most of the brands I really wanted to try were out of samples and stock, and ended up having to buy a few different ones in the boxes because they didn't have samples. The good news is I'm told you can return anything that is 80% full. So I'll be visiting again this weekend and will probably be disappointed... again. read more

I was hopeful after reading the good reviews about "Master Stylist" Alena, but I was totally let down. I was met with someone who dismissed what I wanted (was told that the style that I wanted was outdated and wouldn't work unless I wore my hair straight, I usually do wear my hair straight...), I was not asked how I usually style my hair (so I left with my hair curly, not straight), wrong products were recommended for my hair (I asked for help controlling frizz for my thick hair and was told that my hair wasn't thick , that was news to me, and its Miami so there is nothing that can be done about frizz) and she was rushed the whole time (she was working on another client at the same time). All in all, I will not be going back to this salon. Not once did I feel welcome or comfortable. read more

I haven't tried any beauty services at this particular Ulta, but I have shopped at this location. This is probably one of the better Utla stores I've shopped at. I've noticed this store is usually very clean and organized. I have noticed employees don't constantly bug you in this store, which is a huge bonus! Some Ulta stores basically have their employees follow you around, but this location doesn't. My only issue with this store is the stock selection. Sometimes they don't always have what I'm looking, which is my main problem with this store. read more

I have to say I've never been so horrified and disgusted at how a salon can hire people that have no clue about hair. I came in for a blow dry a week ago with this new lady called jennifer My experience was alright I came in with my hair washed and she just blew dried it she told me she had experience with extensions so I booked an appointment to come in to apply my tape hair extension. I get my hair extensions done once a month so I already know the routine I spend a lot of money on my hair because I want it to stay healthy. So we begin the process and I noticed that she is washing my hair for a little bit longer than usual with the first shampoo she put in. I stopped her as she was going and ask her what she was doing she told me she was clarifying my hair so she can apply the extension without it slipping off I noticed the texture of my hair was getting horrible. I told her to stop what she was doing and put my hair back to normal so she starts drying my hair. The whole time she has a smirk on her face which already makes me uncomfortable she starts drying my hair and pulls it as i watch it break oh I forgot to mention she asked me to Google how to put the extensions on before she started washing it. ( very unprofessional) she's drying my hair pulling it so I mentioned why do you have to go over it so many times she was trying to cover up the damage that she has done my hair has been through a lot of processing so the best way to put on hair extensions would be to wash my hair 3 times no condition not to clarify (which is like detergent. ) she keeps telling me that this is the way they do it. But she's not noticing that my hair is already sensitive and should not be going through clarifying. She then ends up charging me for a blow dry that I did not want she just did it to cover up the breakage she did. I wanted to talk to the manager to let her know about the situation the best thing she could do is tell me to come in for a regular blow dryer that she can do herself. Overall I don't think ulta should be doing hair I have only came here for blow dry before, everytime I come in the Stylist are always talking bad about a client who just walked out. The environment is very uncomfortable everyone's always gossiping about something not relaxing at all and to mention that I went in for hair extensions and came out with breakage and no hair extensions on. read more

She is a new mom as well and we had a lot to talk about- She honored the Ulta Coupon but added $10 for her stylist fee, it was $70 (plus I tipped well) for what I usually end up paying $150 at other salons for the same kind of service! When she finished my hair she did a wavy blow dry technique & I loved it! Horrible !!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to this Ulta because I had to take my dog to the vet and had to wait for him. My hair is by my shoulders and pretty thin. I asked how much a blow dry for my hair would be. Mind you I am a hairstylist but I injured myself recently so I am not able to do my own hair for a few more weeks. Any how, I asked how much and they bald guy told me $60. WTH!!!!! I can go to Miami Beach or Brickell and get it down for $30 or $40. Especially for it being ulta. It's just ridiculous. One of the only times I was able to relax and I can't. Also I walked around the store for about an hour, because like I said my dog was at the vet, NO ONE asked if I need help. There is no customer service in any ulta that I've been to.. sadly I still go there because I love their products. read more

Had a bad experience today. So went in to find some makeup, the manager led me to meet one of the makeup artists to help me find the right makeup. The issue I had is the cleanness of the makeup brushes. She also helped a customer prior to me and did not wash her hands. It bothered me that the brushes were not cleaned and she was using them. Also she used her hands. I feel like if you touch people's faces you need to think about cleaning your hands and your equipment. I was disappointed and unhappy. I would never use this makeup artist , I hope not all of the makeup artists there are like that. I have been to Sephora and see them clean their brushes all the time. I should have mentioned something while I was there. I had to remove my makeup as my skin was irritated . It also detoured me from purchasing the products. read more
