I had an Ulta salon appointment with a stylist at this location and I would not book another. While the quality of her work was good, her general demeanor was off-putting. She started off my appointment stating I had booked a different service than what I was requesting. Then, I was told I should have selected a smoothing add-on when booking online since I have curly hair. This was all fine- I would have kept this in mind in case I wanted to book another appointment in the future but she seemed very inconvenienced by my overall appointment. Which I can understand having a tight schedule or being prepared for a different appointment but I would have preferred she had just requested I reschedule/ book a different service for another day than be made to feel like I was wasting someone's time for almost an hour. Mind you, we finished maybe only five minutes over my allotted appointment time. In the future, stylist requesting a reschedule/rebooking if a different service is required would probably be a better experience for both stylist and customer. This Ulta is amazing. I'd never been to one before and my friend took me with her to help me find beauty supplies I need. Yes, I live under a rock, apparently. The employees were super friendly and helpful, and they did their jobs well, because I walked out of there with $300 worth of products I have now used most all of within the last 2 weeks. Nothing is worse then walking through a store for 30 min and have no help. Wasn't until I was almost to the register that someone who must have been working in the back came and asked if I needed help, she was great. However the other 4 employees on the floor seemed way more interested in talking to each other then customers. I was one of three people in the store so it's not like they were busy. Also I know it's petty but after spending almost $200 there were no samples of any products? That's literally never happened? It's 50% of the reason it's worth shopping at ulta because you can try the products before you drop $30-$55 on one item. Was truly disappointed. There had to be at least one sample I could have gotten after a large purchase. Don't know if I'll be back here, this has happened (bad experience to many times at various ulta locations. Update: another $200 spent this month at ulta, still no samples. I know it seems ridiculous but I've been shopping at ulta here for like 7 years and legit every time you go they have zero trial products. I think this will finally be my last purchase. read more

Don't even bother booking a haircut here. They clearly aren't interested in getting business considering I had to book my appointment twice and it was cancelled TWICE the day of (my initial appt and then my re-booking of the same slot) because they "wanted to see if I could come in earlier". I was finally able to call back as my babysitter had arrived to take my 4 month old, and I was told "the feedback I'm getting is that you called to cancel your appt" ....yea, I think it's safe to say your employee is lying to you. Why would I cancel myself twice in a row on the same day? And I NEVER called until talking to them after it had already been cancelled twice. Their response was "sorry you had this experience". At which point, I told them to just forget about it. It's hard enough to make the time to get your haircut as a brand new mom. I shouldn't have to fight to keep my appointment slot because your team wants a more convenient time to finish out their day. Why even have the online booking system/option if you don't want people to come at a slot that was deemed available at the time of booking???? And beyond that - you shouldn't have to call back somewhere to keep your original appt time if you can't "come earlier". Ridiculous customer service. Do better. This was going to be my first hair cut since giving birth and after going through the effort of taking some time for myself (setting up a sitter and fitting the time in between naps etc) ... instead I was left in tears. I will not be shopping here moving forward... I'd rather support someone small and local that actually cares to keep a customer. read more

Location. Location.Location. Love this new location! The store is bright and the floor plan works. Clean and organized with a super friendly staff. I went on the first day they opened July 2, 2019. The staff were eager to help and provided great customer service. There was a great amount of product on the shelf. I love MAC lipsticks and I really felt there was more variety of colors than at the MAC store. There are several sales now due to the grand opening coming up on July 12, 2019. You dont want to miss that. There will be sales, giveaways, and smiling faces. Sounds likea win all around. read more

My experience with Ulta Beauty in Hamden, CT was horrible. I visited the store on several occasions and received little or no customer service. The sales people stand and in a huddle right in front of the entrance and don't greet you when you enter the store. I only went there because I was low in MAC foundation and was desperate to purchase more. The sales people at the Mac counter at Macy's & Sephora are much nicer, friendly and helpful. I will never return to the store. Maybe they're not racist, but I think they definitely stereotype and discriminate. Don't see that store lasting too long. read more

As a Black customer, I feel the customer service is standoffish and subpar. Ulta was our last resort as we prefer Sephora however, Ulta is closer to where we live. I went with my mother on Monday, November 30th around 6:15 pm, and the sales associate ignored and was condescending towards my mother. As we gave feedback to the manager, the manager minimized our complaints and attempted to negate our experiences because "everyone else has a good experience". I found this extremely tone-deaf, especially during this time of people learning to be accepting and inclusive. She also said that the reason the associate ignored us was that they had "stock to put out" as someone who has worked in customer service, I find that to be an extremely lousy excuse. This is not the first time customer service is rude or standoffish. They stand in their group and ignore you or profile you. There is no in-between. The only time I have had a decent experience was the summer of 2019. They seem to only care about a certain type of customer. This is is why I enjoy Sephora more. :) read more
