This Supercuts in East haven is the worst. I made the worst mistake taking my son here. my son showed them a picture of how he wanted his hair cut. His hair has been long for the past three years. he wanted like a curtain hair cut for men. They messed up his hair so bad. He was so upset and he was crying. I dont even know how she ended giving him a buzz cut. It look nothing like the picture, no similarity at all. I went to talk to the hairdresser and showed her the picture and said " l know there's nothing we can do now since he alreaft had the hair cut, but I wanted to let you know that you messed up his hair and he's so upset." I felt so bad for my son. I felt so sad to see him like that. The lady was so rude. She said with a nasty attitude basiic insinuating that I'm just repeating the same thing over and over and basically there's nothing they can do since his hair was already cut. Also with a nasty attitude she told me if I don't like it I don't have to come back. Then she said "why don't we just shaved his head to solve the problem." Her attitude was really bad and just plain nasty. I should have known. When I went in to drop off she was giving me bad vibes. I should have listen to my instinct. I followed Tina from Branford, she always did my hair EXACTLY as I wanted not what stylists usually do. The color to the cut, classic bob with a slight undercut and thinned out just on top. I waited to have my color and cut until she returned from medical leave, that says a lot! What I have now is a complete disaster my undercut is like a shave, it doesn't fall into the curve of my bob. I always curl it under. Now I can't and my entire head was thinned out!! My fringe was not cut, I went back. I could actually go on and on but, no, it's enough. Very disappointing way to waste one hour of my time. I booked an appointment for 2 o'clock, got there at 1:50 PM and waited. People who came in after me were seen before I was, I went up to the counter twice and asked when I will be seen and I got the usual "oh, it'll just be another five minutes,". A stylist came over to me and said that she knew I've been waiting for a long time but they had to finish up a couple of things before they could get to me. Keep in mind I had made an appointment. Two stylists were working on one client at one time and I went up to the counter again and said this was getting ridiculous, I had an appointment. The person behind the desk who is also a stylist said, no, you just put your name on a list. I said interesting, because people came in saying they had appointments with stylists. I left and will never go back. Bottom line folks, learn how to use a scheduler, honor somebody's appointment and don't just assume that people can waste one hour of time when my entire appointment could've just been finished in 15 minutes. All I needed was my ends to be trimmed. Oh, and by the way, I have been going to Supercuts for 20 years often on and had never been treated this horribly. I was on a family trip in New Haven, CT to see my daughter graduate UNH Masters Program, and needed my hair blown out for the big day. I must have called a dozen places and the only place that answered their phone was Supercuts. I was booked with Christina. Christina was great! She was conscientious about my needs and extremely personable. There was a wait even with an appointment due to lack of employees, but that did not shake her, she took great care of me, made my hair look beautiful, and as long as my hair is that is a lot of work. Reasonable prices, easy to book an appointment online, the salon itself was very clean, and everyone was consistently wiping down chairs and platforms after each customer. Do not go here my hair is so messed up! My bangs are extremely uneven it was a 10 minute haircut for $30. I feel embarrassed walking around with this haircut do not go there, if you have kids you're better off having your kids cut your hair that's how terrible they are. Would of rated Supercuts East Haven 5 stars before today. I heard that Lisa Z quit. She is the only reason My husband and I continued to go there. Everyone loved Lisa and was willing to wait a long time to have her do your hair. She is friendly, outgoing and really listens to what you want. My last appointment two weeks ago was shall I say difficult to arrange. When I called Crystal told me she no longer worked there, I called the next day and was told that I need to call back in 20 minutes. That night when we arrived for our appointments we witnessed two customers leave and say they would come back when Lisa was available. Showed up at 9am when they open. No other customers in the store. One barber sits in her chair, doesn't say anything to me even though she saw me. Waited 10 minutes for another barber in the back to eventually come out. She told me it was an hour wait. I was the only person in the building, what was the wait for? I won't be going back here. Jason was my stylist, brooke is usually there but found Jason to be excellent also. Very quick and friendly.

I went in wanting to lighten my hair color from a very dark shade of brown that I did not want anymore. I called ahead and was taken right away at 3:00pm. My stylist was Julie and when I told her about going lighter she looked at me with apprehension before agreeing to do a bleach bath. It was not bad, especially since they do half bleach half shampoo so there's no burning or bad smell. After that she recolored my roots, but the peroxide must have gone bad because it didn't take effect. So she went to mix up a semi-permanent hair color to re-do them. She could have told me that there was nothing more she could do, but she went above and beyond to help me get the color I wanted. She was so attentive as well, asking if the water was too hot or too cold and if I was chilly or if I wanted a magazine. Sincerely, amazing. At the end, she was successful in making my hair all the same color and she put in some glaze to make it shiny and smell great. Now my hair is about 2 shades lighter and I love it! I definitely recommend Julie. 10/10 read more

Since moving to East Haven two years ago, I've been coming here for haircuts and eyebrow waxing. Recently, I began to entrust the stylists with hair color as well. And I'm so elated as I've never had an issue at all! They are attentive, professional, knowledgeable, friendly and GOOD. I heartily recommend Crystal for hair coloring because this lady is especially intuitive about your needs. I have very fine and thinning hair with layers and bangs, not to mention seriously thick, arched brows, but they always cut and wax to my satisfaction because they listen to you. In fact, I didn't even need to instruct Crystal to cut the bangs to the top of the brows; she automatically knew what I'd want. Most stylists want to cut only the edges and leave the bangs long, which I abhor. So she's sharp! After any of the ladies apply their talents, it's a "presto!" moment. Pure satisfaction. Moreover, the prices are fabulous & the place is immaculate. It may not be a "full service" salon but it's a quality establishment that offers exactly what you need. However, I would call ahead of time to ensure that you won't be waiting too long. They do not take appointments! Some days are busier than others, hence it's a wise idea to cover all the bases. But it's the only downside to an otherwise extremely positive experience! read more

I'm writing this review because I have never been more pleased with a haircut before the one I got from Julie at the East Haven SuperCuts. I was so unhappy with how my hair looked for such a long time and I was so tired of wearing it in a ponytail, pulled up, pulled back, anything but wearing it down. I explained to Julie what I didn't like about my hair, she listened and then knew exactly what to do. Like I said, I am so pleased with this haircut and I haven't worn a ponytail since I walked out of the door of SuperCuts. I love it! And the compliments I've been getting aren't so bad either! EVERY time I've called ahead for a hair cut they told me 15 minute wait. I get there and there's 5-6 people waiting and 1 person cutting hair and the other one is sweeping and cashing people out. They are very slow to take the next customer and that 15 minutes turned into OVER AN HOUR and this happened twice and today I gave it one more shot and again 15 minutes. I get there and there are 3 people cutting one on register. Place had 5 people waiting and the woman tells the girl go take your 30 min break. It was at the half hour point and there was still 4 people ahead of me. Easily would have been over an hour again. Never again.....Go to Branford. They are much more honest with wait times and better staff. read more

Last weekend I had such an amazing experience at Supercuts at East Haven, that I had to write this review. I am 8 months pregnant and had to reschedule my maternity photo shoot from Saturday to Sunday due to a snow storm. The only place open on Sunday to get my hair done was Supercuts. I was nervous and wasn't sure what to expect. When I walked in, I was met with Julie. She was the only person working that day in the salon. I have to say, she provided such an amazing customer experience for me and went so above and beyond my expectations that I will be back at Supercuts and ask for Julie even when other salons are open. She not only did a great job with styling my hair (another client who walked in asked to take a picture!), she was just a pleasure to work with. She listened to what I wanted to get done with my hair and gave useful advice which helped me adjust my expectations, saved us time and made my hair style look fabulous in the end. When I got light-headed by the hair spray, she popped open a couple windows (even though it was very cold) and moved the whole station close to the windows for my comfort. I know I'm pregnant and people are being very nice, but still, this was such a wonderful thing to do... I have been to some very high-end salons in New York and CT and granted I wasn't pregnant then, I have to say, I would give this experience and the resulting hair style five stars any day. When she gave me the price at the end, I was pleasantly surprised. It was a fraction of what a lot of other salons charge. My hair looked great, I was happy, and the photo shoot went amazingly well! read more

Getting a haircut has often been a stressful event - never knowing what my hair would look like when I left. Since Super Cuts, East Haven, has opened that is no longer the case- I first met Julie and was delighted with the care she took to get my hair exactly the way I wanted. The next time I went there Julie was not there and I met Brooke. I got a great haircut exactly the length and style I had hoped for. Both Julie and Brooke are exceptional hair dressers. They talk to you at first to see what you are looking for and at the end are open to anything else you might want done to your hair - like thinning out the top, shaving the neck.
