Today I went to Ulta in the Waterfront. I bought 6 things, one of which was an espresso colored eyeliner by Too Faced Cosmetics. I was supposed to get a free gift with purchase, but they were out. So I was in line a long time and at the register a while as they searched for one, then paid and left without the gift because they never found one. I left the store with my husband, and looked in my bag while walking to a diner party across the street at Yokoso. I needed to use the eyeliner, so I opened the box, and it was completely empty! Someone stole the eyeliner out of the box!... My husband continued to our diner party to meet our family/friends. Of course I turned around and went back to the store. I approached the first employee I saw and told her. She was shocked and wasn't sure what to do, so she asked. The Manager said this happened to someone else earlier today! They unfortunately were out of the color I needed, and I got a new color. They searched the store and back room which took quite a while. The line was super long and the manager told me I had to go get in line to do an exchange. The Manager legit expected me to wait in line again, to exchange an empty box they sold me for a new one instead of taking care of it right then. She said, "it will go fast.". I explained I was heading to a diner party people are waiting one me, and I already waited in line, and paid, you sold me an empty box and apparently this already happened to someone else today. I said I'd take a refund and could give her my receipt (they already had the empty box). She said, "I don't want to upset the customers in line by taking you first.". Seriously? YOU sold me an empty box! I guess only some customer's getting upset matter? Only the ones who are in line, not the ones you don't have the free items promised to, or that you sold empty boxes of make up to? They ended up ringing me up at the end, and seriously tried to sell me a credit card I was pre-approved for. Why would I get that card after this experience? Suggestion to Ulta, check boxes while ringing people up if this is a known issue. Also, if you're out of the free gifts, give another one (they didn't). Also, if you mess something like this up, try to make it right without being rude. Why make your customer wait this long, and stand in line again? I think some customer service classes would be good for your team at this store. read more

Immediately upon walking in we were greeted by make up artists near front entrance. I told Michael what I was looking for and he invited me to have a seat in his chair. They had Too Faced products all around their make up chairs and I let him know that I was actually wearing some of their products. He gave me great tips and insight into the ingredients used in different makeups and helped me select new foundation and concealer. He was absolutely phenomenal and I was very comfortable with the options he helped me with. Next I ventured to Chris who assisted me with a new regimen for cleaning my face and preparing for the day. Everyone I encountered was so nice and provided superb assistance to me. For my first time in Ulta stores I knew this wouldn't be my last time. Gabby J at checkout is a true gem. She helped me get signed up for points with Ulta so I can get coupons and offers as well as rewards. The store was very clean and items were where they should be. I had no problem navigating the open floor plan and finding additional items I wanted to purchase. read more

was in the ulta in Salisbury, NC a few weeks ago and as I'm there with my two small children looking at perfume a man comes in to rob the place and steal perfume. I'm staring at the employee as she is still talking to me about perfume products like" hello your getting robbed" and she continues to smile and asks me to smell another type or perfume. my kids at this point are traumatized, thankfully my husband is there packed and ready but the thief gracefully walks out of the store. kids are still crying and the employee looks at me and says , so what perfume were thinking about getting. i was soo baffled I had to walk out. read more

I typically come to this Ulta or the location in Monroeville. Neither are my favorite but both get the job done. This location is not very big but it hardly affects the selection. We're here in Jenson Beach for a sisters weekend reunion. Today was a rainy day and all 4 of us sisters decided to go to Ulta to get new makeup and brushes. We didn't intend to spend as much time, or money that we did (although it was totally worth the time & money)! I promise!! We went in just wanting to be color matched and purchase new makeup, however we met Julie and she was so awesome and patient with all 4 of us and we stayed 2 hours for a fun makeup session! Julie KNEW her colors, makeup and application!! She was fun and helpful and then towards the end, she recruited help from the beautiful Veronica and she assisted us too! It was such a fun and productive day, not in the rain! These girls were awesome!! read more

I if I could give a zero star review I would. I purchased a perfume discovered I didn't like it after 1 use. I tried to return it and because the register malfunctioned during my purchase I didn't get a receipt so after trying to return it for an exchange for as mother fragrance I was told no they wouldn't without a receipt. Well from this point on I will go to Sephora to purchase anything else. Great customer service I think not. I wasn't asking for a refund just an even exchange. read more

This review is specific to Ulta's customer service and lack of loyalty to work with loyal high volume customers. I recently tried to correct an order 3 minutes after it was placed, because Ulta didn't want to add the gift offered, they gave an excuse of going to fulfillment which is ridiculous on a Sunday night within minutes of placing an order. Sadly, this exchange may lead me back to Sephora! read more

ulta is not a reputable company. they refuse to honor online prices when their substandard computer system does not show the item is on sale when checking out. supervisors are not trained properly and refuse to update names of customers after legal name changes. beware of ulta. ulta misrepresents sale prices and you end up paying full price at check out!!! then they refuse to honor or correct name changes and e mail changes and so the merchandise is mailed to names, people and places that no longer exist! read more

I go here for my haircut. One of my friends introduced me to Karen (hairstylist) almost five years back and since then if I need a haircut, Ulta is my go-to place. It is easy to book an appointment. You can either go online or give them a call. I usually call them and it takes less than 5 minutes to book an appointment. Karen really understands your requirements. I usually show a photo I like and at the end of 30 minutes, I have it!! Haircut includes hairwash, cut, and blow-dry. This time, I even got texturing done to feel light as I have a coarse hair. They also take donations for locks of love. Three years back, I was there on my birthday and donated my hair. I was pleasantly surprised when they didnot bill me for the haircut. I love this place and I highly recommend Karen! read more

I love this store and I always come out with more than I intended too. The staff are always very knowledgeable and friendly and offer great advice when asked. I have never encountered a staff member that didn't exhibit great product knowledge and if they hadn't personally tried something they would locate another associate that had. Whoever started this store is a marketing genius with very strategic product placement throughout the store. For example a few days ago I went in for concealer and walked out with that plus a new Valentino full size perfume that was conveniently placed on a display mid store and the again at the cash wrap! Do not apply for the Ulta credit card. When I called that I had a $2.00 charge and the statement did not show why I called the number on the back of the card. I was told by a machine my account was closed and it hung up on me. I wanted to speak to a rep about the charge but could only get a machine. If you need to contact a person to speak about your account you need to google it. Finally, after many tries I was able to speak to someone. They said I was late. I informed them that I sent it 2 weeks prior and the mail which we all know it is very delayed anymore. She did take it off and wanted me to stay as a card holder but I did not want to go thru the roller coaster again so I cancelled my account. read more

I've come here a couple of times and the staff is generally pretty helpful. I also got a balayage done for hair. My stylist was really kind but she took a regular in before me even thought I was there. She was really nice she ended up toning my hair twice when I was unsatisfied. Unfortunately after going home I ended up hated my hair( no fault of the stylist) so I booked an appointment to fix it. During this time the manager came up to me and asked a bunch of question the stylist around me started to say that ai was lying about what I asked for originally. At the end my stylist got me to where I wanted to but I didn't appreciate the manager and all the other stylists questioning me. read more

As a long time customer, for years I am highly disappointed in Ulta. I recently tried to place an order 2 days straight to take advantage of the daily deals. Each time my transactions were declining. I reached out to customer service who said I would receive a call from a Supervisor, which I never received. I later received an email saying the items in my cart went against their guidelines. I am confused because all I had was perfume, make up and nail polish in my cart, and there were no multiples of the same item to indicate anything shady. I've asked several times what in my cart went against guidelines but I have yet to receive an answer. That's fine because I was able to keep that $170 in my pocket and ULTA doesn't have to worry about my business again. I have a special place in my heart for makeup. I remember being 10 and sneaking into my moms room and putting on eyeshadow and lipstick before I went off to school. Over the years I've come to love more of the artistic side of makeup. I have to say my favorite part of modern day makeup stores is the ability to play around in the makeup a bit before making the decision to buy or not. Ulta in itself is great. I've never had any issue with them that wasn't fixed right away. I like that they have a mix between drugstore and prestige brands. I also like that they keep a record of everything you purchase if you sign up for their rewards plan so if you loose your receipt no worries. Also you get 3 points for every 100 you spend. Which is $3 toward an in store purchase. They always have coupons and sales. I've also seen up to 5x points. There's really no reason to pay full price for anything in the store. The customer service at this locations is about the same as every other Ulta. I've personally never had an issue finding something I want but I also check the app and see if it's available in store first. If you are a makeup lover like me Ulta is a little piece of heaven. read more

Worst experience ever. You can buy in person without your ulta card but no where does it say you can't make a return without the physical card. She was rude and kept talking over me. If that's the case maybe they should post a sign. Now I have to wait for a physical card to come in the mail before I can make a return. I'm always pumped after leaving the gym at the waterfront and usually use my energy at other stores. we were both kind of over target and i suggested checking out this ulta. surprisingly my bf agreed to go look at makeup with me so i took advantage of it haha. This store seems extremely similar to north hills location, regarding size. The employees were all super helpful. Everyone we walked by asked if we needed help. It was good to not feel awkward in a makeup store while in yoga pants, a T and a gym bun. My bf had a decent time here checking out the mens area of electric razors and cologne. I discovered Ulta several years ago in Panama City Beach and have been loving shopping here ever since! The customer service that I've experienced at this location has been above average compared to other stores that I've been to. I've generally been greeted once or twice while shopping here. I use a mixture of Neutrogena, Almay, and Revlon makeup and am normally able to find my products here. They are sometimes out of a particular Almay waterproof mascara that I like but actually had it last time I was looking for it. I have also used two salon stylists at this location. They have both been above average stylists for the price, even though I was pretty disappointed in a short hair style that one of the stylists gave me. They've also made really, really good product recommendations and are willing to recommend products outside of the Redken brand they represent. Overall, I have had good experiences at this Ulta location, made even better if I happen to have a $5 off coupon on hand! read more

Ulta also has their own brand of make up. There's also a brow bar and salon on site. There's always a coupon online and sometimes in the Sunday paper. There's a loyalty program that sends coupons to you in the mail. Sales occur often. It seems the NYX brand, which I love, is often picked over, especially the lip liners. Their return policy is decent. If you don't like something you purchased, it can be returned without hassle. Customer service at this particular Ulta can be hit or miss. read more

Though it may be a little out of the way if your travelling from north of downtown, the location at Waterworks in Homestead is large and near plenty of additional trendy stores for the girl with shopping fever. I love Ulta because it is a sort of "middle ground" when it comes to cosmetics and make-up. It's a step above CVS but just a hair beneath Macy's or Nordstrom's. I had to come here last night because I'm traveling to Dallas this week for a training seminar and I needed to be all dolled up for Monday's session. Their selections of cosmetics can't be beat and as Tricia says, they've got top quality nail polishes, lipsticks, eye shadows, etc. If you can't find anything you like here, you're way too picky. They also have a great selection of hair products. I bought my Conair Infiniti hair dryer here and it has been wonderful! The location at the Waterfront can be a little inconvenient, but since I live in Squirrel Hill, it's just a hop-skip-and-a-jump away from me. I like their prices and their sales are terrific. Their coupons and rewards programs are fantastic. Not only can I save a lot of $$, but I can get a whole supply of make-up for free. read more

Love ulta! So many different products and price levels. I also got my eyebrows done at the benefit brow bar for the first time. I was lucky enough to be there for a walk in and taken right away. My eyebrows were a mess and they very quickly and painlessly got me ready! I have also been to the salon for hair a haircut. I can't wait to go back for coloring service now that I am coloring it again. I also like the number of do it yourself hair colors that are available! I love places that give me a frequent buyer card FOR FREE! That is why I have a deep love for Ulta. Throw in coupons sent to my house every week and I'm a very happy and beautified girl! I feel like I'm in one of those VIP beauty supply stores that are only available to salons. Plus it has EVERYTHING in regards to make-up, spa, salon, hair supplies and even very random things like candles (which I guess falls into the spa category to reeelllax you). The things in life that make me happy are buy one get one free and even buy 2 get 2 free! Hot danggit I'm in! The one and only thing that irks me is that sometimes the sales associates are very helpful and sometimes they're like, whatever I need to catch up the drama of what happened last night with my coworker. I've worked retail before, I know what's up gurlfriend! Be nice and helpful to me and I'll come back. Be snotty and I'm outta there! More often than not though the employee's are very helpful, if not stalkerish at the make-up counter. Ulta is to the ladies what "GTL" is for those Jersey Shore boys. Anything you may possibly need in the department of hair, makeup, and all things beauty based. All the prestige makeup lines can be found here. Some may only be found in Sephora but most are found in both stores. Some suggestions are when searching around it can be easier to ask an associate to find something quickly. On another note if you are making the visit for a specific item call ahead and have them hold it for you because you might be disappointed if you travel all that way and it's out of stock. I do think that most of that makeup is pretty pricey but the alternatives are not great for the skin. Trial and error. There is a 30 day return policy so if you don't like it keep your box and receipt because you can exchange it for something better. Happy hunting! read more

The staff has been nothing but helpful for this grandmother updating her style and outlook on life. Every time I've come to the store with a new dilemma, someone had a direction to point me. Whenever I get my hair done, the whole staff includes me into their conversations, making me feel like a person rather than a money dispenser they have to put up with. I'm just saying, no one likes to feel like a stranger even when they are. And a lady's hair salon should be the last place she should feel unwelcome and uncomfortable.
