Everyone here is great and down to earth real people. Joe has the best staff and I highly recommend coming here for any service by anyone. They are all great at what they do. Lauren has cut, colored, and styled my hair three or four times now. Every time I go in to see her I have a great experience. She listens to what I want as the client and then makes suggestions based on her expertise as the stylist. Every time she has done my hair, I absolutely love it, and always schedule my next appointment. The experience at Cardamone's itself is also very nice. Had no intentions of being in Pittsburgh this week but if you're evacuating from a hurricane you just head in any direction that is out of its path. While browsing around on Yelp I stumbled across this salon. Then scrolled through the pictures and liked JoJo's work a lot. In need of a color correction myself I booked an appointment. She was awesome. She took out the time to listen to exactly what I wanted and took her time to create that exact look. She was very accommodating even though she typically leaves a little earlier on Tuesday but she happily accepted me. The entire process took around 3.5 hours but she did 4 different coloring processes. Then cut and blew out my hair. She's amazing at what she does! I'm so happy to have found her! Can't wait to come back to Pittsburgh again to have my hair done by her!! read more

I always get haircuts on a whim and usually do walk-ins. If a place is great, I will go back again and again. The first time I was at Cardamone, I had a great experience. The second time, the woman who cut my hair was pretty rude. She rushed me through talking about what I wanted, then took exactly 10 minutes to trim my hair, all for 60 bucks! I thought maybe she had another appointment coming in, but when I inquired, she said no, that she was open for the next slot. I can see why! This is not exactly the fault of the salon, but they should really encourage their stylists to have a better engagement with their walk ins. I know everyone prefers the loyal customer, but don't take us (and charge us full price) if you don't want us (and are going to give less than full service)! read more

I've been coming to this salon for about 8 years now and have never had an issue. I have to suggest my own hairdresser JoJo, who does a fantastic job working with my curly hair. It's always nice to chat and joke around with her while you're getting beautified! Other services I've had done are nails and waxing, which have also been a great experience. A Brazilian wax may never be a comfortable thing to go through, but I've been seeing Amy and she has always tried to make ripping out hair as painless as possible:) All the people who work there are incredibly friendly, and make you feel very comfortable while you're there....even offering up the owners homemade red wine to sip while they style! read more

I was here for an event and I am so happy that I got to experience this salon. For real, they were so friendly and nice. Right when I walked in me and my guest were greeted and told to come in and have fun. The friendliness of the front desk set the mood and the atmosphere for the entire night. I told my guest to go first with her hair wash and style. I then got my hair washed and had a set in treatment while I waited for a stylist to open up. I love getting my hair washed. A nice massage with warm water, there is nothing better. I then chatted with my friend while she was deciding on her style. She has super curly hair so she opted for a sleek look. I have super, super long hair and sometimes it is intimidating for people to try to do anything with it it. It is hard to do hair sometimes when you can't brush all the way to the bottom. All I can say is that Jasmine did a great job, I was really impressed. I told her that I really like big bouncy curls. Kind of a beachy look but still nice. She dried my hair and did a nice job curling my hair without making it look like I was going to prom. Not too much product and not too much hairspray after and it looked fantastic. I really like the look. I got her card and hopefully I will be making an appointment soon. I was also told that they do Brazilian waxes in under 20 minutes. I mean, what else is better than hearing that! I will be looking into that soon! read more

Unfortunately, I went into the salon and I told the stylist what I wanted and some things that I got in the past that I would never do again with my hair. She then said that she was going to do those exact things and then negatively criticized my hair for the remainder of the haircut while making no friendly conversation. Then was charged for shampoo and conditioner to buy because of how bad of shape she claimed my hair to be leaving my total for a HAIRCUT to be 110 dollars. I went home and cried for a week and vowed to never get my hair cut differently again. I then had to go to a different salon to get it fixed and they politely acknowledged that the haircut prior was done incorrectly. I am NEVER one to complain or even write reviews, but this hair experience left me not wanting to get my hair cut ever again. read more

I'd had a nail appointment set for several weeks - a first time customer. Less than an hour before the appointment I got a call canceling it. Not from the owner apologizing for the cancellation or trying to correct the situation somehow, but from the nail tech. She told me the owner insisted that SHE call her clients herself to tell them she had "personal problems" that day and couldn't make it. Wow. The lack of professionalism astounded me. On the positive side, I'm glad I had the experience BEFORE what may have been the worst nail experience of my life. Imagine how the "personal problems" may have affected the work. I called the salon to let them know of my disappointment in being left high and dry. They simply didn't care. They lost a customer....not just for nails, but for all the other services they offer. I've visited here several times since my initial visit. All of the stylist are very knowledgeable, friendly and can do hair. However, if you can book with Jason...his blow outs are PERFECT!!! He gives a really nice scalp massage while shampooing your hair and it's so relaxing. read more

I made an appointment at Cardamones per a friends suggestion. I hadn't gotten my hair cut in over a year, so I felt that I deserved a "real" salon hair cut. I am a "spur" of the moment kind of hair cut person. When I decide I want to get it cut, it needs to happen within a couple days, or it won't get cut and I'll chicken out - which is why I was typically a supercuts girl I LOVED this place - EVERYONE was so friendly! I loved it. After getting 12 inches cut off (yes I donated!) they cut it into a perfect should-length cut. I couldn't be happier. I am however, due for another appointment to keep the shape! Suppose I should get on that. GO! They are the best, and DEFINITELY have my business! read more

Jojo had done my microblading several months back. My eyebrows are 'okay'. If I could do it all over again I probably wouldn't. My eyebrows were a little unsymmetrical but mostly pretty decent so I was really looking for fine tuning and looking at it all now i wish i could erase it and continue to just fill in what i need. Jojo was really nice and she did a mediocre job but the reason why I'm giving 3 stars is because for both my appointments she was late. She arrived to the salon about 1/2 hour after our appointment the first time and 15 minutes the second time. Even though this was several months ago, I was just looking at my brows earlier, and feeling not totally satisfied, it reminded me of how late she was. Parking is not free in that area and my parking fee was about $15-$20 each time I went. That being said it wouldn't be worth it for me to go back to the salon in general. If there's one thing that bothers me, it is being late for an appointment, especially both times. read more

I work downtown and I pass Cardamone's all the time so I decided to go in and book an appointment. I used to have my hair dyed red when I was away in college, but when I moved back to Pittsburgh, every salon I tried wasn't able to nail the color I wanted. My first visit to Cardamone's I had my appointment with Emily. She's amazing. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she did exactly like the picture showed! My hair is now a gorgeous red color and I get compliments everywhere I go! I just went back yesterday to put some more red in, and again, Emily did an amazing job. I've been here twice - once for hair & an eyebrow wax and the second time for a gel mani/standard pedi. My first experience was truly great, my second experience is mostly driving this review as I was there today. I understood the cost I was going to pay for my mani/pedi before going. Having received such great service is a nice atmosphere previously, today was a STARK CONTRAST. And don't get me wrong, the person doing my nails was lovely, but the complete and utter lack of care given to this part of the salon is APPARENT. The salon chair looks more like an execution chair and felt like one. For what the website describes, I felt I was receiving some sort of elevated services with the exceptionally high cost of this service ($85 before tip, to be exact). Frankly, it's completely false advertising. I was so excited to have this lovely, relaxing morning getting my nails done and yet I look back and the atmosphere alone left me uncomfortable, feeling unappreciated as a customer (price gouged may be the best phrase) and wondering why this excessive cost was acceptable. I'm telling you here and now - it's completely unacceptable. I've received happier, cleaner, updated services getting my nails done in other states and only paid $35. So disappointing. read more

After a scheduling mishap at another salon Cardamone's was able to fit me in last minute with Dana. She listened to well to what I wanted, and gave me a great cut. I am trying to grow my hair out but needed a good trim and my layers redone. She left a lot of length and just took off my unhealthy ends. My hair looks great styled and unstyled. My only critique is that I would have loved more recommendations on product and information on what product she had used that day. read more

Take it from the LA hair stylist: Brittany has GOT it! I'm always a little wary of asking a hair stylist to tread into barber territory with a 0-Fade, but Brittany acomplished a better blend & gradient effect than the homegirls at the shop where I work. Beyond that, the atmosphere everyone procured was perfect, and the service was on POINT! By my standards, I should have been charged $75 for this level of service. Not only is she so welcoming and sweet but she takes her time to make sure she does what is best for your hair. I also had a facial with Lori and this was the best facial I've ever had! Seriously!
