I recently went there today to get some press on nails for an upcoming trip and when I walked in I was greeted by the staff in the most genuine way. The area was clean and respectable. The staff were just amazing and so helpful they actually went out of their way to help me find a certain set of nails that took them a good 10 minutes to find. The employees are very nice and very helpful. However, EVERY time I go there, they are out of what I need. Eye shadows, (ulta brand) , are a complete mess. Many have been dropped and are obliterated. Doesn't anyone check these things? They've been out of the two that I want, forever. There are SO many empty spaces on most of the shelves, and from what I can see, stock has not been replenished in a LONG time. If you really need something, go to a different Ulta. I came in to look for ideas for makeup for an upcoming wedding for my granddaughter and had to ask for assistance. I have to use hypoallergenic makeup on my eyes because of Blepharitis so they found an associate to help me with the Clinique line. She was very helpful with the eyeliner but when I asked about foundation she didn't seem to have knowledge of the Clinique line. I asked if they had a product that I could use to help with wrinkles and she said they had nothing in the store that would help me in 4 weeks time, I could have spent more money if someone would have had time to spend with me. This girl had a friend stop by while she was working with me and she told her friend that she would be doing a service for her, so I think she left me to go be with her friend. read more

I had a great experience today while going to Ulta. Im a huge Clinique fan and the Clinique Rep Janea (apologies if the name spelling is incorrect) was so AMAZING! She showed me a foundation I've never seen and took all my redness away. It was perfect. She also made sure I got the correct face wash. I approached one of the employees and asked her if she could help me; she stated "I work for Clinique, I do not know anything about Mace". She was irritated with me, because I asked her if she could help me. Every time I have gone into Ulta Beauty, 1405 Som Center Road, Mayfield Heights, Ohio; I CAN NOT GET ANYBODY TO HELP ME AT ALL. I just had a very disappointing experience. We are in the area from out of state for my son's wedding. My daughter and I went to this specific store because they carry Laura Mercier. I am a long time Ulta diamond customer and have always had great experiences at other locations. I was not greeted and was not met by an employee with an offer for any help. I had a basket with quite a few items in it and went to the hair product section. There was a Kenra spray all by itself, in the wrong section. It looked like a tester. I sprayed a very small mist and an employee came running out of the back immediately and scolded me for spraying something that wasn't labeled "tester" and I can't do that. I was going to buy the product and told her that and she took it away from me to the stock room. I stood there like a deer in the headlights. Absolutely unbelievable. She could have handled it 100 different ways, but she chose to treat me like a naughty 10-year-old. I felt insulted and shocked and decided I could not with any self respect, purchase the items in my basket from this location. I talked to the manager about it as we were leaving. I was very kind and still shocked and gave her my basket with the items I wasn't purchasing. She did not even attempt to understand or make it right, or apologize for how things happened. She just looked at me and said "OK." I had high hopes for this store and could not have been more let down. read more

I have platinum blonde hair. I know I need 40 volume developer to get it to the white I like. I knew when the girl was mixing my color it was going to be a problem because she was only using 20 volume. I told her I use 40 and she ignored me saying 30 is the highest the salon carries and applied the 20 volume anyway. Now I have orange roots instead of my nature color roots that I came in with and have to get color correction done. Plus there's spots that she missed. Also, basic salon courtesy does not exist here. The chairs were dirty and left stains on my white jeans. My back was soaking wet because a towel wasn't placed around my neck while getting my hair washed, and I had to point out that there was still bleach in the back of my hair when she was trying to sit me up from the sink. I felt like I was at a cosmetology school and not a professional salon. read more

Very nice beauty store! I love the selection they offer and the prices range from inexpensive drug store brands all the way up to designer skin care/make up/hair products etc. Everything is clearly labeled so when you walk in it is very easy to find the products you are looking for. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They do offer salon services as well and brow shaping at the Benefit Brow Bar. Very tidy and organized as well! read more

I called yesterday and the manager her name is Wanda she told me to come in and bring in a beach waver pro that I purchased for $200 and that she would give me a store credit so I go out of my way to go to the store and she looks in my search history again can't find the purchase and then tells me she can give me a cent back for the beach waver because it's coming up that the beach waver was purchased as part of a gift when I bought something else which is ridiculous.... Literally the best ulta store I have ever gone to!! It's embarrassing that the people who work their recognize me because I go there so much but I go there so much for their amazing customer service. They treat me like a friend rather than a sale and I know that could be a sales tactic but honestly I don't mind. This review is about their salon services. I would never recommend it to anyone. The lady i believe Stephanie, not only bruised me while waxing my brows (See the picture I attached its on the day 3rd from when I got it done), but when I told her it's burning, she immediately freaked out and said 'I am not taking responsibility for it', And no I am not on any medication or have any skin condition that may cause sensitivity. I almost couldn't believe what she said instead of being empathetic. She didn't apply any gel or anything after it, and gave me the bill and asked me to go to the counter saying she has her next appointment lined up. What???? You know, accidents happen and the bruise will heal but how you deal with it says everything. I have never ever in my life had a worse experience at a salon you'd think is such a big name. It was still burning under my eye and I had to go back home to apply the ointment Also I am sorry but her breath smelled bad, maybe due to smoking or whatever but if you are getting so close to my face, please chew a gum or maintain proper hygiene. On a visit home, I came to pay my respects to the mecca of makeup... and was so hugely disappointed. I literally was the first customer in the door in the morning. Cue the heavenly harps... I walk through the door and take a deep breath, filled with excitement and... Like a slap in the face, I was shocked to find the makeup application areas absolutely filthy, with dirty tissues, soiled makeup brushes, and wet cotton balls piled high, literally falling out of the trash can. There were even used tissues all over the shelves of the makeup application area, too. It was as if no one had cleaned the store for a week or emptied the trash. The stuff was everywhere. Sick. I went to the Ulta brand area and was super bummed at the bare selection compared to the website. I started putzing around and putting Urban Decay eyeliners and Stila lipstick in my basket when I realized... I can get all these big name brands at Sephora, where I earn VIB points for rewards and can try on my items in a place that isn't disgustingly unsanitary. So. Freaking. Sad. Bottom line: if this is the only Ulta near you, shop online or hit up Sephora. read more

I love ulta beauty because they have such a wide variety of items. They range from drugstore to high end. They also have lots of accessories for hair and makeup organization. They have herself everything you could need for your beauty needs. Their staff is friendly and easy to find. They answer all my questions with no problem. There are always plenty of people working the register so it can literally be an in and out visit. I love this branch. I highly recommend going here for anything you personality need or if you need a quick gift. read more

What's not to love about a place with perfume (low and high end), hair and nail products, make-up, etc.?? Um, hellllo! It's Heaven to me. I literally can spend an hour in here (and I have)! My last trip, I bought Carol's Daughter products for my hair, pedicure items, lotion, and Viva La Juicy Noir. A little pricey (not as expensive as Sephora, however) so I only go here when I'm feeling fancy and don't feel like going to Target and Sally's. They always have marked down items which is great. I walked in to buy my favorite Tarte foundation. I was so upset when I found out they were out of my color because I was going on a trip. The nicest lady that works in the Clinique part of the store came over to try and help me. When she found out I was leaving for a trip, she made sure that I had something to hold me over for my trip. I showed up for a hair appointment. I had Booked an appointment over the phone. I should mention that I tried calling 4 times and no one picked up until the 4th time I called. After I showed up no one was at the desk to help, and when someone did come to help me they couldn't find my appointment. They called the manager and it took them 15 minutes to figure out why my appointment didn't show up. I was repeatedly asked if I had called the right Ulta. Turns out whoever I talked to booked me for a brow appointment instead of a hair one. No one who worked there owned up to the mistake and everyone denies talking to me. The manager shrugged and asked if I could come back the next day. Didn't offer to compensate me for my wasted time. Definitely not going back. I felt the service was rude. Mistakes happen, but they could have been more polite and offered some sort of compensation or explanation. At the very least a sincere apology for wasting over an hour of my day would've been appreciated. read more

I love ULTA! I love it so much I just became a rewards member and I usually look forward to coming in and shopping here. That was back in California, here at the Mayfield location the sales staff are TERRIBLE. I have never had sales associates be so rude and borderline racist against me. Here's the story: I came in looking for Estee Lauder foundation listed on their website. I saw the Estee Lauder section for their perfume when I walked in so I walked through the store looking for their makeup section. I walked up and down the store about 3-4 times feeling like an idiot, scanning the shelves carefully, and felt confused thinking I kept walking by the product and not seeing it. Several sales associates passed me and when I tried to make eye contact with them, they just brushed past me and acted like they didn't see me. They would walk up to other customers and ask them if they needed help, but wouldn't acknowledge my presence. After about 20 minutes of walking around and trying to find this foundation, I gave up. I walked up to a sales associate who was already helping another customer, I waited till she was done helping and asked her if they carried the Estee Lauder foundation. She said, "Oh hi, no we don't carry Estee Lauder makeup at this location" and raised her eyebrows at me like I was stupid for not knowing ULTA doesn't carry Estee Lauder makeup in stores. She started to walk away from me and said, "We're owned by Estee Lauder though and I had to interview with them before I was hired, hope that helps but probably not!". I thanked her despite her odd comment and tried to walk away, but she kept talking at me when she saw me approaching the door. She said, "We love Clinique here! Why don't you buy foundation from them? It's the best product, just as good if not better as the one you want." I told her no thank you and continued walking toward the door when she stops me and says, "You are so fair! Oh my God you are so white! Especially your neck, don't you think?". I have no idea if she was trying to color match me or sell me something, but her aggressive and rude behavior was outrageous. If she was trying to get me not to leave, she failed miserably. I felt like she was making a rude comment about the way I did my makeup and that it looked bad on my neck. I felt embarrassed for having light skin. It's winter in Ohio, sorry I didn't have time to visit the tanning salon. This woman was extremely tan (not sure if it was a spray tan or just lots of bronzer) and her condescending attitude was not appreciated. If you ever see a super tan, mid-height lady with short brown hair and glasses in a lab coat at this ULTA, steer clear! To be clear I had no issues with ULTA prices or products, but the staff is unacceptable and will provide terrible customer service. Just go to Sephora and become a beauty rewards member. read more

I have never been to an Ulta before today. The store is very large and carries both lower end and higher end hair products, cosmetics and skin care items. Today, the staff was very helpful (and available), unlike the aloof staff at Sephora. The sales rep asked us if she could assist us (and was really genuine about it, too: she spent fifteen minutes answering all my friend's questions about which eyeliner was best). This staff member was lovely; she demonstrated a few products, and asked plenty of questions in order to meet my friend's needs (and didn't try to up-sell her or pressure her into purchasing a whole set or skincare line). The store was spacious and organized: you were able to walk around without knocking into things and it's not overwhelmingly full of perfume-scent. This is great if you have allergies to certain scents. There is also a salon in the back of the store. I may go back for a manicure based on this visit. What I like about Ulta: it has almost everything I want (including a hard-to-acquire hair dye) plus my drugstore go-tos (l'oreal, revlon, maybelline) and I don't need to go to a mall and deal with the overstuffed Sephora store. Sephora also likes to push their store brand (Sephora brand may look okay but is no beuno, IMO.) The only thing I wish: I couldn't find any Korean cosmetics (K-beauty)...many stores are beginning to stock this so I hope I don't have to wait too long! Prices are what to expect...there isn't too much variation (a $5 mascara at target will be $5 here, as well), however, they have a Ulta rewards program that seems pretty generous. All in all, I am very pleased with my experience, and will return. read more

I came in here for some wedding makeup. I don't wear makeup. I really don't know anything about it, so my sister in law told me where to go and what to do and say, so that I could get a foundation for the wedding. I was so nervous coming in here, and I could tell that the staff knew I was completely lost (and not wearing a lick of makeup at the time), so there was some weirdness at first. But when I said the word "wedding", they perked up and helped me find something agreeable. In the end, I felt only slightly judged, but overall definitely helped, so that's all that matters. I can't say that I'll be back here ever, since I didn't really have a change of heart about how much time I'm willing to devote to my appearance, but I have some foundation that doesn't make me look orange just in case now. Where Sephora offers all the expensive "top shelf" beauty products, Ulta offers most of those and all the more affordable drugstore brands. They have a salon in the store and offer hair styling blowouts and eyebrow waxing. You can sample lots of goodies -- and Ulta offers makeup artists to help you achieve a certain look. Plus... it smells really, really good in there! Pretty much everything you'd want or need (shampoos, conditioners, styling tools, magnifying mirrors, nail polishes for days!) are at Ulta. I know where I'm going to find really cool stocking stuffers for all my nieces this Christmas... read more

I just started going to Ulta now since I know they have both high ends and drugstore makeup products. Very convenient for me since I shop for foundation at Sephora and eyeliners , mascara, and lipstick at drugstores. I was happy to know they have all that I need at just one stop . They also have rewards card, and that really helps. I just started buying the essence lipstick and Im in love with the color "natural beauty" , it's so hard for me to find the right shade but when I saw that color i was so happy ! the cost is $2.99 each, but because I have a rewards card, I got two for the price of one. read more

I have been shopping with Ulta since forever, i am a platinum member i even buy a lot of stuff i use for my freelance kit here, however tonight's experience just ruined it for me. The customer service here is terrible, the testers are a mess, and the manager are absolutely rude they will not go above and beyond for their loyal customers. Heres my story, i went in tonight to grab a couple bottles of wella shampoo and conditioner ( my go to when i can't get to my stylist to grab R & co) , i had a 20% off coupon and those always burn a hole in pocket. I went in and noticed the sign said wella entire line buy 2 for $22 dollars score! I thought i scoped the fragrance out because not only do i love makeup but fragrance.. I'm finally at check out and notice the shampoo and conditioner didn't apply the discount, the original cashier was snarky she was a blonde gal and said yeah it doesn't apply to this size but it's weird it let me do it earlier, so i said umm ok so i go to look for smaller bottles, didn't find any asked if they had any in the back, nope, that's fine we'll if it worked earlier and it's not in stock how about go above and beyond to help with the issue and ask if we could do an override, nope, so I'm sol and there's no other options being given to me, i then ask about the $15 coupon be added to my purchase for the inconvenience I've experience, the 2nd cashier calls for a manager and she says no and that she'll be out so 10 mins later manager duanna comes out with a less than pleased look on her face to have to come to the front and help the 2nd cashier who has no idea how to apply a coupon (not her fault she was very nice) so she puts in some number walks away when there other customers in line waiting and we run into another issue, the manager is snarky and says she's dealing with a customer... at this point I'm frustrated because a 3rd cashier comes by fixes the issue and then says the 20% took off 12$ and the $15 dollar off coupon doesn't apply to fragrance, i then say you know what forget this item I'll just take the other items and get out of here because clearly i just wasted an hour of my time and my what would have been over $200 dollar purchase turned to $43 and a lost customer... i was in retail for 12 yrs, I've gone above and beyond for customers my whole career, till the end last year... i had actually considered making Ulta my main store to purchase as opposed to Sephora now I'll never give that store my business and will be telling my friends and family in the neighborhood to stay away... at least Sephora GOES above and beyond for their customers... consumers beware read more

Ulta failed to provide a quality gel manicure during my visit to the Solon store. Within two days the polish was chipping and peeling. Not to mention their commitment to hygiene was questionable. No request to wash my hands either before or during the process. When I returned a few days to ask for a refund I was told that wasn't possible but a manager would contact me. Never happened. Beware, If you have thick coarse curly hair go elsewhere for a trim! All information I gave stylist was disregarded... how my hair reacts when trimmed...aka bounces up in length drastically, how my hair must be cut according to how the curls and wave patterns sit to prevent pieces sticking straight out from my head...I went in with my hair dry to ensure the stylist would see what my hair actually looks like when it's dry, and I stressed that I wanted as little off as possible regardless if the ends were bad or not. She said an inch (which is drastic for curly hair) and I said no that I wanted 1/4 inch and less because I am growing my hair out. She said she would try. My hair looks awful! The split ends looked better than what I have now. The ONLY reason I didn't go back up later and have her fix certain pieces is that my hair would then be to short to fit into a ponytail and let's face it... that ponytail is the only thing that is saving me from looking like a fool everyday.
