I visited Ulta for the first time today specifically to purchase a perfume that is only sold there and to find a vanilla-based body oil to layer with other fragrances. Unfortunately, my experience left a very negative impression. While browsing, I mistakenly tried a small amount of a body oil on my skin without realizing it was not a tester. I immediately understood my mistake when Julia informed me. However, instead of simply correcting me, she made the situation feel unnecessarily public and embarrassing. In front of other customers, she emphasized that it was not a tester and that the product now had to be removed. After I apologized and explained that I genuinely didn't know, she continued bringing it up while walking me to the body oil section. The interaction became even more uncomfortable at checkout. I mentioned that another employee, whom I believe was named Braylen, had helped me locate the perfume I originally came in for and had already brought it to the register. Julia then abruptly grabbed the bottle of oil I had mistakenly opened and placed it behind her in a manner that made me feel as though I was being treated like a potential thief rather than a paying customer. To top it off, after the entire interaction, she asked if I wanted to sign up for Ulta's rewards program. That felt incredibly tone-deaf considering how unwelcome and judged I had already been made to feel. Overall, the experience felt condescending and, at times, dismissive in a way that left me feeling uncomfortable and singled out. It gave me the impression of bias, which was disappointing for my first visit. First impressions matter, and unfortunately this did not make me feel respected or valued as a customer. What happened with the good customer service ? No wonder why the world of business is going with robots instead of humans . You walked into a place and the associates find more important their personal conversations instead of acknowledging who walks thru the door . People are no longer happy to see you walking in . It is like we as customers are an annoyance to them . I drove far to this location for one item and it took a long time for someone to even know that I was there . I guess next time I will I'll visit the online sites since I know what I want a save me the hustle of being ignored . I'm only posting this because I truly feel robbed or taken advantage of. I came in to get some Carmel highlights and an all over color done. I, was assigned Selena for a stylist. The service was far from cheap, close to 380 with tip. In a week's time, my hair started turning orange as seen in this pic. I went back and was charged another charge to fix my hair. Please keep in mind that I also had a keratin treatment done with Selena which also did not pan out at all either. The hair in this pic was supposed to be treated as well, it certainly didn't look like that. I was charged close to $800 for 2 services that were done horribly, but was blamed for the bad outcome by Selena and was told "it's because I colored my hair too much", and was charged to fix it. I obviously canceled all future appointments but wanted others to not fall prey to this "master stylist" bs. I hope ulta can do something to make this right to a customer who is a diamond member. read more

If I do need an Ulta Beauty store and I'm in Eagan, I go to the one that's a few doors down from Five Below. Earlier this month, I was in Bloomington. I needed an Ulta Beauty and found this one a few doors down from Burlington. I parked between both stores. I hit this store first. I was greeted immediately by an enthusiastic woman. It was nice. I did some research online earlier in the day. I was looking for a product that wasn't available at the store in Eagan, but was here. Sure enough, I found it and picked it up. I do enjoy browsing. I saw a woman getting her eyebrows done. I found satin pillow cases that are supposed to help with your complexion and reduce wrinkles. My normal products, Dashing Diva and Foreo, were there, too. I like that you can get travel sizes of various products at this store. Wella has travel-sized dry shampoo, conditioner, and hair masks. Cool! You can pick up samples while you're there. There were tiny containers of Clinque under-eye creams. I picked up one. I headed to the checkout area. I had the most helpful woman try and find me in the system to collect points. I don't shop at Ulta often. She found me with my phone number. Yay! I paid with a credit card. Done! I thanked the woman and happily headed to my car with my purchase. I had a great experience here. When I need something at Ulta again, I'd return here when I'm in Bloomington. (71) read more

I usually only go to Ulta if I absolutely have to. This visit I remembered why. I was in a rush and Ulta was the closest choice. I needed one basic thing and they didn't have it. BareMinerals is a very common brand and I just needed foundation. The shelves were practically cleared out. The only reason I gave three stars is because of the selection of styling tools (hair dryers, curling irons, straighteners etc) I did find a new hair dryer while I was there so at least the trip wasn't a total waste. read more

"You'll have to call your bank". I call my bank and there is no problem. it's simply due to Ulta and their inability to process a debit card. this is a warning, Ulta is wrong. I came to the salon with accidental blue hair and My stylist, Lori, was incredible! She was able to get the blue out of my hair and bring my hair to the beautiful silvery-grey I have always asked for, but never quite gotten. I was so impressed with her service--she even stayed late. Carla did a quick 20 minute mini facial as that's all she had time for and I was a walk-in. She was amazingly talented, did wonders for my skin, a customized treatment that made a total breakthrough in no time. I will definitely come back for a full treatment. This review is for Kara, a stylist at the salon at Ulta, Richfield. I had a preconceived notion that a stylist at an Ulta Salon might be second rate. Why?? It turns out that Kara has given me two of the best haircuts that I have gotten in the last couple years. I have short hair, so I have to go fairly often and have been to numerous stylists from Bang Bang to Hair District to ReVamped and have gotten my best hair cuts from Kara. She asks questions, listens and is skilled. She charges $41 and is worth every penny. read more

Extremely rude customer service. I had a return to make and the cashier Annie was too busy discussing packing for a trip with her manager than caring about customer service. When she noticed I had a chip she pointed at the machine but said nothing. I asked her if she meant to use the chip reader, she shrugged. On top of that I had a return and the manager, who has been rude on several locations, said "keep your receipt next time." I asked her if using my rewards account and credit card were enough as they had been in the past. She snapped at me and said that they see something different in the system then a receipt. The situation was handled extremely poorly by her. I was treated the same way last weekend by the same manager. Will be going to the Roseville store or Sephora going forward. read more

I live in downtown Minneapolis but I drive out of my way to head to the Benefit Brow Bar for Yolie to wax my brows. I have thick eyebrows and I'm very particular with who I allow near my face after I've had a few nightmarish incidents trying different people out. Yolie is absolutely fantastic and worth the drive. Follow-up! For the first time in about 15 years, I'm going to the same stylist (Kelsey) regularly and leaving happy each time. Not only can the woman cut hair wonderfully, she's also very personable and never pressures me into buying extra product I really don't need just to make commission. To me, that goes a long way and makes me feel so much more comfortable getting back in the salon chair with her, knowing I can just enjoy a high quality haircut without the stress of having to be sold something extra afterward. I came in on Friday sept 1st to get my hair color done. It's been awhile since I've dyed my hair for the fact that I was just trying to grow my hair out, so I had a pretty grown out balayage. I came in wanting to go darker. But the stylist was very pushy. She was the "master" stylist there. Instead of doing the color I wanted (I even showed her simple dark color pictures) she still insisted doing something totally different from what I wanted( going lighter) I myself is a stylist and I've been doing hair for a while. And the only reason I went in to get my hair done is was just for time and going darker is so much easier than going lighter. I just assumed being the master stylist she knew what she was doing. At this point I was getting frustrated so I just let her do what she wanted being she sounded confident in her work. I also told her that my hair does not hold ash well. But she continued to tell me they have a really good color line. So she's doing her work not only did she end up tangling my whole head she had another client in between so she made me wait and It took way to long over all. I voiced my opinion that I didn't like the color it's not blended it's blotchy! So she finally added a darker color on top. Which did end up looking much better. So I left not happy but content and after a couple hours the color itself started fading and going lighter and by day 5 now I have a hint of green in my hair and a faded color all around... I walked out of ulta paying almost 500 hundred dollars now only to have green hair... grrrr read more

I have been seeing the same stylist for two years now at Ulta, and she is amazing. Her name is Lori, and she is incredible; the only person who I will ever let touch my hair since our first meeting. She is not also extremely talented in her hair skills, because I get complemented all the time since seeing her, but she recently went out of her way to accommodate my schedule, when she wasn't, just because she cares deeply about her clients and it shows in all of her work. read more

I decided to try the Ulta Salon because I only needed a trim and had a 50% off coupon. I saw Kelsey, who was very nice and did a decent job. However, the service was so bad that I will not be going back. I arrived a bit early for my appointment and because no one was at the desk, sat in one of the chairs by the stylists. The two stylists working ignored me completely for more than 30 minutes (they saw me). One (Lori) had come up to the computer at the desk twice without even looking at me or saying anything. It wasn't until 30 minutes+ after my actual appointment time that Kelsey finally asked if I'd been checked in. Um, no. I've been sitting here ignored!! I was just about to leave when 40 minutes after my appointment time I was finally seen. The haircut was fine, Kelsey was nice, but it was not worth that terrible service and certainly wouldn't be worth full price if I hadn't had the coupon for half off. It's basically a step up from Great Clips, except at least someone would have acknowledged me there! I would have given one star but Kelsey was friendly and did a fine job (once I was finally seen, very, very late), hence the three stars. read more
