Well, here I go :( I knew better but it shouldn't be this way. I need a forever hair stylist that doesn't want my soul to make my hair look good. I called in good faith and asked for a color specialist (they all say they are and that it's their favorite part of styling :-/ )... anyhow, Emily assured me that their newest stylist (Katie) was a color correction specialist and she wasn't new to de industry, well 3 years isn't what I call specialist level specially because I'm pregnant and she obviously used the wrong volume to do the processing of my hair and left patches everywhere. She still uses the board and she dropped it a few too many times on the floor that I felt bad for all of them. It's funny how I was joking with her that I hated 2000's chunks of hair that was called highlights just to make sure she used a fine technique when grabbing my highlights, wishful thinking. My appointment was at 1 but I was running 15 mins late but it didn't matter because I had to wait for my stylist to be done with her previous appointment for another 30 mins (that's 45 mins I would of have to wait if I wouldn't have been late). I told her time was an issue but I wasn't done until 5:30 and unhappy. I told her I was for sure calling back. Color was super ashy with the outside light and she chopped my hair off, not really a real hair cut where she would of have noticed the shorter side on it. Nice girl but need to really practice and listen to her clients and if she can't deliver is best to say so. No shame on that, trust me. Mistake #2... going back to "fix" it. 7 years and I don't know why she did what she did... "Your hair looked better with the 1st mistake" ( my husband's words and he is the one that tells me I look amazing even if I'm wearing a trash bag) so yeah. Amber removed the toner Katie put on, barley blended the patchy places and threw another toner that gave me a color if Katy Griffin's hair had a baby with a M&M. She also "fixed" the cut by using some special technique. Well tell that to the ponytail lol (see pic. Lol). I will say they were very polite and willing to try to fix the mistake and never changed their attitude to an ugly unpleasant experience. Oh well at least my husband got a kick at the Pinterest vs. reality moment of my life until I told him I paid $220, not so funny then... Save your money girls. Go to the schools to get this quality, seriously. I had my share of bad hair business and it seems it will continue but the best has yet to be on "professional salons" with the most experienced stylist :)... I can't even. read more

I love Ulta stores. Hate the employees. Every single time I visit this particular location I'm not greeted, and I get the feeling that my presence is bothersome to whomever is ringing up my purchases. They look physically pained to say "hello" or "you're welcome". They then barely lift a finger helping me retrieve my bag from the counter. The merchandise is usually fairly stocked and their rewards program is excellent but that's all this store has going for them. Make sure your items scan correctly as 9 times out of 10 their "deals" marked on the shelves won't ring up correctly and then one of the rude employees will look at you like you pulled the deal out of thin air, all while acting like them having to ask their manager for assistance is equivalent to getting a root canal. read more

Made an appointment weeks ago for October 26,2022. I get a text saying that my appointment time changed. So I call the salon and I'm put on hold which is fine, then someone gets to the phone and I said hey my appt was moved.. and she said okay... so I asked why?.. oh cause the stylist needed to... so I said well no one called me to ask if it worked with my schedule so I would like to cancel my appt, it's rude to do that. All I got was "oh okay have a good day" No apology, didn't try to accommodate me at all. I'm a hairstylist myself and I would never change an appt without calling my client and asking if its okay! I bought a $25 mascara that was on sale Monday for $18. I went back in yesterday evening to get a price adjustment with the receipt. Mind you, this has been done in the past at the same store. I was told "we can't do that as it's on sale today only and because it is the Holidays" WTH?? Do you realize that is WHY I went back? My friend and I went to this Ulta for some makeup help and found Tina. She color matched me, told me what I needed, showed me makeup tricks and tips. She explained to me why I needed what I needed and what the products did for me. She Gave us several little lessons on products and techniques I was shocked at the customer service. My mom and I went in today looking for make up, ready to spend a good amount of money, and some lady wouldn't stop following me around the store that worked there, and kept asking if needed help. I just moved to Nashville and it's such a blessing to find Elizabeth Key at Ulta. After Los Angeles it was a quest to find that amazing stylist and colorist. Liz FEELS colors! Being blonde, I like to change shades from icy to caramel, with highlights, lowlights etc. Liz knows all the trends from degrade and ombre to belayage and peach or hologhaphic, she listens and always knows how to color, cut and style, she is a young professional with 10 years of experience. Beauty land! This store has EVERYTHING I swear. ULTA regularly sends out daily deals, discounts, promotions, etc and you can get some sweet freebies that way. The store is laid out very nicely in a way where you aren't too confused. I will say that when you walk into a store like this with SO many choices, know what you're trying to accomplish and DON'T be afraid to ask for help or suggestions from the staff because you could spend HOURS looking for an eyeliner pencil if you lose yourself in the sea of pretty shiny things! They have a salon, which I have not taken advantage of yet, but plan to. And they also have a full calendar of beauty/makeup events that go on throughout the month (calendar should be right when you walk in). Some of my favorite things to pick up here are Batiste dry shampoo, Urban Decay products, shampoo & conditioner, The Body Shop butters and oils, hair dye, and NYX products (LOVE their matte lipstick). ULTA has a great return policy. I brought back a curling wand that kind of sucked and has no issues. Love my ULTA points! I'm a platinum customer so I keep them throughout the year. I'm really surprised to see some bad reviews about the location in Hendersonville/ Goodlettsville. I've shopped there many times with good help, but the last time was fantastic. I have tried to cover dark circles under my eyes for ages that get worse as you age. Tried about 20 different products with no good results. I walked in, spotted someone shelving, and started explaining my problem. She had no problem stopping what she was doing walking me over to the product that she thought was going to work and actually putting it on my face right there in the store in the aisle so I could see in the mirror. It worked wonders, and also is not an expensive brand. In addition, I inquired about setting powder and mascara. Again, she took me to where the product she told me work best for her and she had tried them all and they were good products, not high-end brands. Her name was Melissa, I think she was a manager. She personally went and checked me out herself with my coupon discount that of course did not have with me, but found on-line If you have a problem with a specific area or issue, I definitely recommend Melissa. It's a basic Ulta. Nothing out of the ordinary. And I have to brag on my hair stylist, Haley. She was so wonderful. However. They have a heavy set blond who worked the register who apparently I was bothering by asking her for a price check on some hair items. (If they were in their right place I wouldn't have had to ask ‍) she checked me out and allowed another customer to walk up to the register with me while I gave my personal info for her to look up my Ulta account info. The other customer either didn't know where the line began or was really unaware of personal space because she was so close I could touch her without even spreading my arms out. Yes, it's an Ulta. But it's also a pretty decent salon. I needed a last minute hair save and my usual salon couldn't get me in, so I walked into Ulta and made an appointment. This is my go to place for last minute appointments - you can almost always get in! And the salon services are very affordable (especially if you are a first time visitor) and quite good. When I went in, my hair looked like straw. When I left, my hair was smooth and looked and felt so much better. read more

Sephora will be getting my business from now on. I went to this location tonight and tried to find someone to ask about shade recommendations as you can no longer test products. Couldn't find a soul. Ok, whatever, picked a shade and headed to the cashier. Two cashiers working and the line of 5 people ahead of me moved quickly. It was my turn and one cashier took a call talking to someone about an online order and the other cashier walk around looking for something and then walked away into the store calling back she would be right with me. Ten minutes later comes back and tells a customer she could not find what she was looking for. Still standing there. Cashier one is still on the phone. The other cashier then walks away again to continue looking for whatever she was looking for when the customer says you can help the lady waiting. The cashiers reply was "Are you sure?" I've come in here to buy products, and whenever I do I'm always greeted by the friendly staff members. They always come by to see if I need help- but no to the point to where its annoying. They are present and aware! Great customer service. I even learned at checkout that I can reuse their magazine coupons this last time after I pulled one out, thanks to lady who was at the register! To make it even better, I decided to try their salon (Im newish to the area and was looking for a place). Barbara was so friendly AND did a great job with my hair. I wanted the dead ends cut off, but there always seems to be a struggle for stylist to do just that. They either get too scared and don't get enough off, or hack off way more than you ever wanted. Barbara got rid of my dead ends with out dramatically changing the length of my hair! It feels so much more healthy that it was. 2013/074 This place recently opened and I had to see what my friends were raving about. Wow. Just about everything health and beauty related can be had in one location. Off the top of my head, they have: makeup and accessories, nail polish/gel (and lamps), hair brushes/combs, stuff for your brows, bleaching, hair removers, nail clippers, hair dryers, shampoos, conditioners, other hair products, lipstick, etc. Basically, almost anything you can find in a drugstore or average beauty salon can be found here. And more. They have Ulta brands (there were a few $2/$4 sales going on when I was in) and Sally Hansen and many major brands. Because I think certain companies want all of their products in their own dedicated aisle, you may have to search around for items such as lipsticks and nail polish, whether they are all in the same aisle, or in their own major brand aisle. I think (but I'm not sure) that they even had beauty consultants to help you choose makeup by applying them on you. If you're into someone greeting you, they definitely have this one attentive woman who made a point of greeting everyone that comes in. Note: I don't usually buy high-end products, so I don't know if those are carried here. And if you're loyal to certain brands at department stores, they may not have them here. This really is a one-stop place for your day-to-day beauty needs. read more

I've loved Ulta since I was a teenager, but since then I've never lived close enough to one to frequent it as often as I'd like. Ulta carries my favorite line of foundation (Studio Gear), but for some reason unlike the Murfreesboro store, this location doesn't carry that line at all. Perhaps it was time for me to move on, and there were certainly plenty of options in its place. That complaint aside, I'm thrilled to pieces to have an Ulta close by again. I received a gift card for ulta for Christmas and was eager to use it as I knew the store had makeup and other products I've been wanting to try. I came to this location yesterday by myself with no purse and little to no pockets as I have previously worked in retail and being a black woman I unfortunately know the stereotypes that are given to us. I walked around pretty much the whole store because I don't shop there often and wanted to pretty much get a glimpse of everything when I started noticing the woman that was working the cash register when I first came in following me around almost every section I went to and asking if I needed help which I politely declined several times. When I got to the checkout line she was watching me from a far and then on my way out happened to be standing by the door as to make sure I was wasn't running out with anything I hadn't purchased. Like I stated previously I worked retail I know all the drills and tricks so this was disheartening as I already have to be prepared to be profiled and try not to bring any purses or bags in with me and still get treated like this not mention after reading the other reviews it seems like they are well aware of how the employees come off but do not care. The Ulta has landed in Nashville. Right in CENTRAL Nashville. I don't want to think of the accumulative hours I've spent in there since it opened in 2013... One of Ulta's main draws is their complete selection of drug store brand cosmetics (L'Oreal, Maybelline, Revlon). Also, the availability of the NYX line - which now can be found in Target, amazingly. I've got to be honest - I've found NYX products to be crap. But they do have a large variety of products, many of which I'd affiliate with higher-up brand make-up (primers, glittery eye liner, chubby stick eye pencils). I've been steered well by the same employee multiple times, as to which products to buy and which to avoid. She'll tell me honestly which are not worth purchasing! Very thankful for that. It seems Ulta now offers some high end brands these days, such as Lorac, Stila, Two Faced. I sort of think it's their way of competing with Sephora, which I consider to be the department store makeup SUPER STORE. I shop at them both. And LOVE shopping at them both, for very different reasons. Ulta tends to have some slammin' deals - I bought a full size can of Hard Head TIGI hair spray for $7.99 because it was the breast cancer awareness design. UGH. It's amazing how awful the customer service in the salon is. I've been there a few times before (after clearly showing them the red color I wanted and ending up with purple and even brown hair) and kept coming back mostly out of convenience, but this will definitely be the last time. I made an appointment a week in advance with Haley and ended up with another girl who really seemed like she just wanted to gtfo out of there. I know what I wanted was going to take some time (ombre with black and red) but all she said was that she wouldn't have time (when I've had this done before after coming in at the same time). Well I'm glad I made a 30 minute drive there, then. It seemed like she was the only girl who was even there. She said I should reschedule for another day when they would "have more time" but funny how the day she suggested left exactly 5 hours before the store closed, just like on that day. I get that she might not have wanted to do longer work on my hair, but it was just annoying to drive all the way there, and not even get my appointment! No notice or anything that she wasn't there. I called yesterday to see if they had Bumble & Bumble Sunday Shampoo in stock since Ulta no longer has the in-store availability feature on their site/app. They told me they didn't have the item at that location. So I came in to look for myself and there they were, 4-5 bottles of the shampoo I had called and asked about. Also, when I called, whoever answered the phone seemed as if they had no clue of the brand. Bumble and Bumble is a common brand. Prices for Salon treatments have gone up $5 in the new year. That isn't what freaks me out though. I had an appointment with Heather that I needed to reschedule and when I called to do that, I was informed that "Heather has left us without notice". I don't need the dramz and the dirt, I just need my hair cut. He was sweet and offered to reschedule but I am really paranoid about letting just anyone touch it. But let's talk about the fact that if she left and you knew that, what would have happened if I showed up for my appointment? She isn't there? You have access to her schedule? I was absolutely mortified by the work of april on my hair. She was unprofessional, showed up late, and butchered my hair. I went in for a bleach and tone, she applied the bleach which took over 3.5 hrs, then had clients in between, she had others wash my bleach out and just left me for them to take care of... then when she finally shampooed my hair it all fell out from her leaving bleach in too long. She then tried to blame me it was my fault because I didn't use the right shampoo, which was something purchased in her salon. She told me I didn't deserve my hair salon visit, she then picked apart my diet, tried to blame the hand fulls of hair I had falling out from her shoddy work on me. She's horrible and that salon is Terrible getting my money back was no repayment for the broken damage that horrible salon did to my hair and self esteem.I give this place negative stars for the grief and crying I have to live through from her. I wanted to write this review to actually give praise to the ultra brand. I have the worst luck with nail polish, it always cracks the next day. I purchased an ulta brand polish because it's cheaper and it has now lasted me four days, no chips. And I'm rough with my hands so four days is a lot. I also love their mascara. 4.99 and it is the best I've ever tried. Super smooth no lumps and really gives volume to your lashes. The negative one star is because I do not like their customer service. I never receive help when I need because they are focused on someone else. Super friendly sales people. I went in looking for a BB cream and one lady helped to purchase a tinted moisturizer from NYX that was the same thing basically. Another sales last helped me find a under eye concealer that I love. The only thing that I was unhappy with was the low selection of brown girl products.
