I went to ulta for a skin consultation got token to the back & when I told the lady at the back desk what I was there for she said "well your early" in a rude manner which I showed up 5 minutes before my appointment incase I had to check in. When I was back there after the fact that she walked off I didn't get acknowledged at all for about 30 mins until I had to leave. There was 2 women back there chatting it up, no services were being performed so they didn't look busy at all. I actually love this place but this customer service was unbelievable I hated how I felt walking out knowing that no one acknowledged me and that I wasted my time. read more

The service at Ulta Riverdale is non existent. 7-8 employees standing around and talking and it took 10 mins to get their attention to see me standing there and needing assistance. Once I was attended to, I was told the item I came in for has yet to be "unpacked" and that they got their shipment in yesterday. Pretty upset when I come in spend 100$ and when she asks for my phone number , I give it to her. I pay and then it asks me how I want the receipt. I notice the email is not mine and tell her. She says "oh that's my bad". I said how can I still get my points. She says I'll have to do a whole return. Came here to spend a lot of money on makeup and never felt more uncomfortable in an Ulta store. I never was greeted by anybody when I walked in. I walked in circles in front of multiple workers trying to find a certain product and never was asked to be helped. I had to go up and ask somebody who was very short and rude and was responded by a "nope we don't have it". Never was offered any additional help. I also had multiple items in my hand and nobody once asked to get me a bin. I moved here from Florida and will definitely start ordering from online because I was expecting some human interaction to be helped but nope! This store needs to hire new workers read more

The employees are EXTREMELY rude, when I walked in, I was not greeted but scolded because I parked in the Curbside Pickup stall, (there were two empty stalls on each side. But I committed a cardinal sin by parking there. I can't believe companies like these (brick and mortar) can stay in business with employees such as these. The employees are so unhelpful and rude. If you don't look like them or have a full face of make up on and dressed up they really have no reason to be friendly to you. It's astounding to me that the employee found it more important to worry about the curbside pickup stall rather than greeting a customer who took the time to come to their store. I worked at Nordstrom years ago and was taught the value of customer service, perhaps the Ulta employees should take a class. The fact the employee felt it necessary to worry more about a curbside parking stall rather than help a customer who drove there, found a place to park, and walk into the store ( I most likely would have spent more money ) is needless. I very much appreciate the COVID precautions that the store is making but have some concerns with decisions management is making. You are asked to stay six feet apart when waiting to enter the store, but when standing in line for check out you are smashed in like sardines. Also, having three associates guarding the door to ensure the numbers inside the building are ok but only having two at checkout is a bit odd. 30 minutes in line to check out is excessive. The shop online then pick up at the store option is a good one. Other than it pulls one of the two associates at the register off the line to help that customer ahead of the poor people that are in the store. Come on management get your act together. read more

The convenient location of this store for me doesn't make up for the consistently impersonal customer service. I have never had a good experience in this store, so I had sworn it off. But I wanted a new flat iron and knew they would have the one I wanted. So I went back and, sure enough, no change in the people who work there. It is just annoying to walk up to the cashier, who doesn't look at you or greet you, just says "What's a good phone number"? A good phone number for what??? Yes, I know she wants the phone number to see if I have a rewards account, but there just seems to be better ways to greet and interact with a customer. I haven't been to Ulta for makeup in a couple of years - Sephora has my business now, simply because the people who work there actually act like they want to be there, and they care about their customers. I went to Ulta to try and find the new color depositing conditioner that I've been seeing all over social media. My daughter had been battling a scalp condition for about 3 years at this point. We went to the doctor and did all the prescriptions and nothing was working. Tried shampoos and al kinds of things and it was going no we're. When we went into Ulta in Riverdale we asked to talk to a salon person. I showed and told her what was going on and within seconds she knew what it was. She told me to ask the doctor for this special shampoo and told me that she had the same battle with her daughter, only not the extent that my daughter had experienced. Jaime helped me and most of all, she gave my daughter the confidence she needed back. I'm happy to say that her scalp condition is in check and she is excited to get to use the color depositing conditioner to have rose gold hair. Jaime is now my new hair stylist, as well as my girls. Thank you Jaime, so very much. Three years of battling this condition and she in seconds restored confidence in my beautiful 10 year old. THANK YOU JAIME!! read more

I have spent THOUSANDS at this location and in the last two years their service has consistently been absolutely heinous. I avoid this location more than any other store and every time I feel like I "must" stop there out of convenience, I am reminded of why it sucks. I recommend the ulta at Farmington station. Every associate at Farmington station is far more competent (and kinder)than even the managers at the riverdale location. I was 6 days past the 60 day return period and a $125 hot roller set broke. I tried to return it because (obviously I don't want to spend that much cash on a crappy item) they would only offer instore credit. Come on guys!! This place is loaded with great make up and hair products including store brands like L'Oreal, Cover Girl, etc, and then a large selection of more expensive name brands like Smash Box and Lorac. However, I went in last week and received wonderful customer service. Not only did the stylist turn my hair 3 different shades of green, but she ran out of the salon before I was even done and another stylist had to fix her mistake. Then when she had to color my hair a medium brown to cover up everything I was still charged almost $50. Not cool! The first time, they did a hair treatment and it took 5 hours because the first time they did it completely wrong and the stylist's coworkers sat there and watched her do it wrong the whole time. Then, today, Shalayne denied working on my hair because "she wouldn't have enough time" even though she only had a style in front of me and it was 5:00 and they closed at 9:00, a four hour style, I didn't know that was a thing. The Ulta-mate (ha! see what I did there?) rip off! I went in for a simple allover color, because my regular place couldn't fit me in at the last minute. My regular place charges only $40 for cut, color, AND style and because I know that really is an amazing price, I was pleased to call and find out I would only pay $55 for the allover color at Ulta. Fast forward to me sitting in the stylist's chair and her picking up pieces of my hair and wrinkling her nose "Are you SURE you don't need a cut...Maybe just to refresh the look?" I tell her no and she suggests that I should at least consider a conditioning treatment then to smooth things out since the ends aren't in the best of shape... I really didn't think things were that bad, but since she seemed to be concerned I tell her OK to a bit of a trim. I guess at this point it could be my own fault for not asking how much of an additional price this trim is going to be. I suppose because I am so used to my other place including everything in the price my thought process was that it was A-included or B-couldn't be more than $15 extra for a TRIM, and I don't like to sound like I'm a totally broke in front of a bunch of people by asking how much each service she is offering me is. I also decide to get my eyebrows cleaned up for $20 (which is also a tad higher than what I'm used to, but eh, whatever). Fast forward again to the end of the trim, my hair still wet from washing the color out and the stylist asks if I want her to blow-dry it? I tell her no and am thinking "Cool, it really is included with the color, or else why would she ask if I wanted a blow dry, because if I was paying for it then obviously that should be something included, no need to ask." Still mentally adding up $55(color/trim) + $20(eyebrows) = $75, I get up and walk with her to the computer, she prints off a paper, folds it in half, hands it to me, and directs me to the front of the store to pay. I get to the front of the store with my dripping wet hair and unfold the paper......$110!!!! I am dumbfounded! I was charged $35 extra dollars to take less than a half inch of my hair off and getting it dried wasn't even included?!?!?!?!?!? I will NEVER return! They charge as if they are this really nice high end spa/salon but they've got this ugly orange wallpaper that is supposed to look like tile (tile you would see in a nice spa), but is obviously paper because of the waviness to it. The towels they used were all worn out and bleached and stained with dye. The floors were dirty/stained and it appeared as though when they swept they failed to get along the edges/corners. I am not normally very picky but if they intend to charge people as a high end place, it should be immaculate like a high end place. read more

I love Ulta! I have usually gone here to buy high end makeup, and look for deals on hair products. However, I had no idea that there salon was going to be so awesome. I needed a last minute hair job, cut, color...the works. I called and they graciously moved some things around and squeezed me in. On top of there great Salon customer service, the manager, Gina, who did my hair, ROCKED IT! It was like she read my mind with my haircut and the color (blonde color, that is). :) Thank you, Gina! Every time I go in to this location the saleswomen are so rude. I started going to Sephora because they were so mean. Today Sephora was out of my eye shadow so I had to go to Ulta. I couldn't find the right kind and had to track down a woman who was so rude when she saw that it had been right in front of my face. The reason I didn't see it is because they have changed the package it usually comes in. As I was laughing about it she seriously just walked away. I'm gonna stick to Sephora from now on. read more

Very unprofessional service given today, Rude when asked questions and shove you through the check out!

DO NOT USE THE KERASTRAIGHT SYSTEM! I saw the ad for the $159 KeraStraight system that will straighten your hair for less than $250. This was not true. I have very curly hair, naturally, and when I saw this ad I figured I'd give it a shot. I called and asked all the right questions; is there an additional charge if more Kera Product is used? Will it straighten my hair as it is extremely curly? After these questions were answered I set up the appointment. The original time frame was 3hrs, it actually took 5hrs. I did require 2 more bottles at $20 apiece, and was not impressed as a flat iron still had to be used at the end. I waited four days before washing my hair and the results were very disappointing. My hair was still curly and it still took me an hour to straighten it with a flat iron. I went back to Ulta and showed the results to the manager. They would not give me a refund and it took them a week to get back to me. Even when they did it was constant phone tag and I gave up trying. Avoid my mistake. They never did anything to correct the situation. If you want great service and results...Do Not Go to Ulta! read more
