I'm honestly done with Ulta Beauty. Every time I go into this location, the customer service is awful. No one greets you, no one checks in, and you're basically invisible. I walked around for 10 minutes actively trying to get someone's attention while multiple employees just walked right past me. When I finally did get help, she was rude and acted like I was inconveniencing her. She brought me to a section, said "you can look at these," and immediately walked away. No effort, no guidance, nothing. This isn't even my first bad experience here. I live 5 minutes away and it would be so convenient, but at this point I'd rather go out of my way than deal with this kind of service again. read more

Do not waste time coming to this location the only stylist in there that can do a silk press will cancels last minute ,very unprofessional. If you don't want to take a client, don't agree to do their hair and have them drive all the way out there only to cancel last minute. I find it weird that I had a review for this location and it's suddenly gone. Anyways, this isn't my favorite Ulta location but it's one I frequent most due to its convenience. I typically always order online through the app for in store pickup. The associates here do hound you down when you're in here shopping. I can't go down a few aisles without them stalking me. Makes me uncomfortable because all I want to do is browse the aisles in peace. I've been to the salon here and the experience wasn't a pleasant one. I came in for a blowout (wash + blow dry + style) I go to a blowout bar weekly but chose to come here since it was close to my house. Let's just say it would've been easier to do it at my own house because the stylist didn't style my hair well. I only wanted it flat ironed after the wash and dryer. It wasn't complicated by any means. My last experience at Ulta left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I ordered skincare items online for in store pickup. My boyfriend was listed as another person able to pick up the order. He kindly went to pickup the order for me. The Ulta associate questioned him and then called me to make sure the order was okay to pickup. My boyfriend had my ID as well as his on him, in addition to the confirmation email. It was overall a weird transaction. Hope service improves so I can feel better about coming here. read more

I stopped in here after walking around the mall with Mom and Friday July 6th at 12:30 p.m. The store is very organized with many different departments from makeup, hair products, hair assessories and perfume, which is great to see when you're on a time frame to get in and out instead of spending a lot of time searching for products or departments. My mission in here was for my Mom to purchase her favorite perfume from years ago called " Estee Lauder Youth Dew spray." My purchase was a Redken shampoo 34 Oz on sale half off for the summer. "thanks for the tip Shannon M. yelper" !! :) After finding the perfume Department we noticed all that was on the shelf was a sample bottle of it with 1/4 of the spray used. Low stock ? Or not in stock? I looked for a sales rep to help and assist with our question if there was any more in the back stockroom. We found a store sales rep, "Jade" who was very helpful to check in the back stockroom for my Mom. SUCCESS.. Jade was smiling walking back to us and said "YES the last one! "so good luck was on our side. I also bought "Redken" shampoo on sale for $14.99 for the almost 34 ounce bottle. A great buy for summer months, + I bought the liter pump for $1. At checkout we had Jamie who was very cheerful, fast and pleasant. She also was greeting customers coming into the store while she was cashing out customers for their products. Awesome, teamwork at this location. I like how the layout is easy to find all the different departments like all other Ulta Beauty stores. Thank you Jamie (Jamielle) for the free sample too of Clinique moisture cream for my Mom.. It made her day that she was a new customer to the store and had a great shopping experience, + a free sample. A very nice store but the employees are all extremely rude. Multiple people feel this way, even strangers in line said the same thing. I went in on New Years Eve to grab my eyebrow pencil, I use benefit (recommended by Gabby at Van Dyke) and I love it. The women very rudely informed they do not carry benefit products and I felt judged for even asking for the product. I would advise anyone interested in Ulta to go to the Van Dyke location. Everyone at the Van Dyke store is very nice, knowledgeable with the products and helpful. I get my brows done at that location and won't go anywhere else now! read more

Is it possible to give a ZERO rating to the employees here? I went in on 10.15.22 around 11 to find skincare products I've been buying here for a long time. Women (workers) hanging out, discussing whatever and no attention to customer service. When the tall older blonde and woman with dark hair decided to bust up their conversation I asked for help in locating the product. They both tried but had no clue about what their inventory was, deflected, passed me off to a manager that was on the phone and it turned into so much of a circus, I left. What a s**t show. Never again. Back to on line ordering and one of the employees told me "Go across the street to Sephora, they will have what you're looking for" so I did, found it and BYE Ulta. Lamest customer service I have ever received and it's not like me to point out bad customer service, only good but this one needs to be noted. This review is based on the salon, not store. I went this past Monday and got a gel manicure. It's Friday, and they are already lifting. My left thumb, my nail is missing polish all together, right index is about to be the same. Just a waste of money. The manicurist was nice, but it wasn't done properly. I would have thought I was getting a better service than going to an Asian salon, but I guess not. I will continue to pay $45 instead of trying someone new. It's not worth it. read more

This location is terrible! Not only are they in the MIDDLE of the mall without an outside entrance. All of the employees are rude, and racist! They are never helpful, are not knowledgeable about ANYTHING. They think that just because someone has their makeup done up nicely that they don't need any help. They have NEVER helped me color match, even when I've asked. I would 100% recommended the store on Hall road. The employees there are so much nicer and a thousand percent more helpful. read more

I lived in the Macomb area previously, and decided to try this location for a haircut. Due to COVID I've been keeping my distance from any salons or businesses in general. However my hair was severely damaged with split ends so I scheduled an 11am appt. I didn't mind that it took them a couple min to acknowledge me since both hairdressers had a customer, but it was frustrating that I was taken in a half hour late. Usually with haircuts I am told to take 2 inches off due to damage, but she suggested only one was needed, then offered some face framing and light layers to add volume to my hair. She was very nice, but the haircut was awful. She only took three small portions of hair (mine is long) and cut the very, very ends of it (split ends are still very apparent). My hair was damp for part of the cut, then she blew-dried my hair to cut the rest, which confused me. The face framing came out uneven and there were no added layers either. She offered to curl my hair which turned out nice, but it hid the final look of my hair so I couldn't tell how bad it was until I got home and washed it that evening. I'm very disappointed. Was not worth the amount I paid or the extra I tipped. read more

Let me start by saying this is not my 1st visit, I've been to this location numerous times. EVERYTIME I've been here the service n knowledge has been terrible. They greet you when you walk in, and then after awhile of roaming around finally ask if your finding everything okay. Not this time but last time I went to buy some NYX foundation, (the only reason I go here because they carry a ton of NYX products) and I finally got a girl to attempt to help me choose the right color, and that was impossible. Didn't have really a care if I was choosing the right one or not. Same time I was asking a girl who clearly worked in the skincare section in the back (white coat on) asking her about a new Philosophy face cream, and really had no knowledge about that either! She seemed as clueless as me! This point I'm annoyed, get my foundation and leave hoping I'm buying the right one. Whoever is usually ringing you up is friendly and fast. But Ulta at this point the ONLY reason I will be back is for the coupons I receive and your NYX products. I'm a faithful Sephora shopper, so I will take my more expensive purchases there, where I can actually get REAL help. read more

A employee was very rude to me when I asked help finding a black lipstick. She asked why I wanted the color and told me it dark colors flush me out. I wasn't rude back because I'm respectful so I just danced around the idea that she should just help me find a black or a color close to it. She kept directing me to red colors even though I told her I want a black and that I didn't like how red looked on me. After about twenty minutes of arguing with her I finally was directed to a deep purple that I was satisfied with. However, when I was purchasing the product, she brought the topic up again and I told her I would look into it, but in reality I'm not going to and I'm writing this review to express why the help in this Ulta is not helpful as they should be. read more

After reading all the negative reviews, I was a bit hesitant to stop in here. Fortunately for me it was a pretty good experience! I came here specifically for a foundation brush and some quality liquid eyeliner. The brush isle was disorganized( thus the 4 star rating) but thanks to one of the employees,I got the brush I came in for! This was my first time coming in here and I have to say I'll most definitely be returning. The store is well stocked with almost anything pertaining to beauty. This location is terrible. I have almost exclusively bad experiences with Ulta, but this location is the worst. Why is this place even open? It is a mess inside. There are whole isles without any shelving, display, or product stocked. It seriously looks like the place is going out of business. I got excited because I read that Ulta now carries MAC, Colourpop, Morphe, and Dose Of Colors. There are videos on YouTube of people shopping and finding these brands in store at their locations. This place had none of these. One employee looked at me so weird when I asked about Morphe. I think she thought I was asking her for Morphine. Granted, the Hall Rd. location has none of these either(very disappointing). Speaking of items not in stock, it is almost impossible to find anything I need because their displays are basically empty. And when I return 3 weeks later, those same shelves and hooks still have no new product on them. How does a business plan to make money when it has no product to actually sell??? This all makes me sad because I remember visiting this location only 2 months after it first opened. It was the first time I had ever made a purchase at Ulta and the first time I had ever bought anything from Too Faced(I bought a Natural Eyes palette). I had such a wonderful experience. The young woman who both helped me find the palette and at rang the purchase up at the cash register was perfection. She was so kind, patient, friendly, and professional. I was amazed at the free gifts I received. Having had such a great experience, I thought this would be the norm. All I can say to potential customers of this location is shop at your own risk. I usually go to the salon at this Ulta to get my eyebrows waxed. They only have one girl that does eyebrows and most other salon services, and she only works one day a week; Thursday. They say they are a full service salon and promote all this crap but the only worker who can do actual salon services is only there once a week. I went in on Wednesday and the lady working said that we didn't need and appointment and could walk in any time Thursday... So I went and guess what apparently she was booked all day and could not take anyone. I told the lady and she said yeah but she gets really booked,but no one was sitting waiting for her to finish the girl who she was working on, so she didn't look busy at all. Then the lady proceed to tell me she was open Friday too and made an appointment for me, which is at a very inconvenient time for me. I would not recommend going to this salon as they really do not accept walk ins and never have workers there to do any of the salon services, they had one girl to do all the salon services for the whole day... It seems like a waste because they have many tables and stands to do things at that never get used.i would go to an actual full service salon next time as this obviously is not one read more

I was so excited when this store opened up. The store was great, fresh, clean, & with lots of product on the shelf. It has slowly degraded over the past year. I was extremely excited that an Ulta was opening so close to home-that was until I visited it. I went in with my daughter who was looking for some new make-up. Not the cheap stuff either. Both she and I "wandered" around the aisles waiting for someone to assist us. Usually you can't keep the workers away-not the case today. When I finally asked someone for assistance she did half of what I requested. So another ten minutes spent "wandering" until my daughter asked another sales person for her advice. The sales persons reply "do whatever you want." It was my understanding that the staff is there to help customers make educated purchases. I saw the same employees sitting customers down in the chair and making suggestions based on color and finish. I was not given the same courtesy. Perhaps they were understaffed because it was a Sunday but it was a complete waste of 30 minutes and the store lost out on a purchase and a future customer. It is worth the extra drive time to go to a location that is friendly and helpful. read more

This was my first time in this store and it will definitely be the last. The staff was not helpful at all. One employee offered a smile from about 30 feet away and that's about as nice as it got. I found what I was looking for, but unfortunately there was no price to be found on or near the product. I was not going to stand in line (about 6 people long) just to get a price. So I found two free employees who were just chatting with each other and asked if someone could get me a price. One girl slowly turned to me and I QUOTE, "Sorry, you'll have to stand in that line. It doesn't look too bad though, you should be fine". I set the item down and walked out. Sephora has my business forever now. read more
