Went to Ulta to get a haircut before my daughter's graduation. I was very skeptic because a new guy (Tommy) was going to cut my hair instead of my regular expert. I was nervous the entire time Tommy was cutting my hair because he didn't seem confident on what he was doing. He kept asking and confirming if he was doing what I wanted him to do with my hair. After over an hour he finally finished. I thought it looked ok but I knew the ultimate test would be when I wash and style it myself when I get home. I left him a tip anyway because he was VERY nice. To this day (a month after), I LOVE, LOVE my haircut. Tommy did such a great job. I have been looking for someone to cut my hair like this ever since I lost my longtime hairstylist over 10 years ago. I had never been in an Ulta before, so I had no clue they even have someone to wax eyebrows here! There is a Benefit Brow Bar, and I was in desperate need of some trimming, so I gave it a shot... And I have never had them look so good before! Jordy, the brow expert, made them perfect, I was almost in shock when I saw them in the mirror. So I'll get down to the bottom of it. This Ulta is really bad. I had to go back 3 times to return their KAT VON D tattoo eyeliner. When I first brought it home I noticed that the eyeliner was completely dried out. I thought it was just that specific pen, I tell the manager and she checks out the other ones and it turns out they had a bad batch of the entire product. I go back later to that store and an employee tells me that they fixed the issue and there shouldn't be a problem. Low and behold, the same thing happened again. So basically they knew this was a bad shipment and they were still selling a faulty product on their shelves knowing they had a bad shipment. That's shady. Don't sell faulty products and try to sell. Be honest and take them off the shelves. read more

I've always had good experiences here! Today was enough to get me to leave a review for how amazing the staff is! I ordered a single item for pickup 30 minutes before they closed and decided it was worth a shot to see if I could pick it up before 7pm, however I was prepared to have to wait until tomorrow if they didn't fill online orders past a certain time (which is common at my retail store). I told the cashier that I had just placed the order and asked if they could still fill it. They were very friendly, quick, and understanding filled my order without hesitation! I didn't catch their name but this was March 19th at 7pm and they had a brown Sherpa teddy jacket on and they were TALL. I hope this associate receives praise for going out of their way for my emergency breakouts! PLEASE NOTE: I had ONE item in my order. When you want to try some new beauty supplies and online shopping just won't cut it, Ulta has a great selection. They have skin care products, makeup, some nail polishes, accessories, hair products and more. It looks like they also have a mini hair salon in the back but I'm not sure what the deal is with that. Sometimes there's only a couple people working so it's hard to get any help with products. I've had good luck and bad luck with this which can be frustrated when I don't know what I'm doing or if I'm trying to buy a gift for someone. When I have had people help me they are really friendly and give great suggestions. They carry brands like Urban Decay, Benefit, Revlon, Ahava and many more so in other words you have a ton of options to choose from. Keep an eye out for the makeup sets because sometimes they are a better deal than the individual items. If I could give zero stars- I would. For multiple reasons. I've been to this location multiple times. I've never been greeted, asked if I needed help finding something, nothing. The one time I did ask for help finding a certain lipstick, the girl rolled her eyes and pointed to a few aisles away and said "there should be one like that over there" and continued gossiping with one of her coworkers. I put back everything that I was planning on purchasing and walked out. About a month later I went in for a haircut at the salon inside after receiving a $5 off coupon in the mail and thought I'd give it a try. The girl who cut my hair asked if I was using a heat protectant on my hair (at the time I wasn't) so I replied "no, but I'm open if you have recommendations" and she said in a really snotty voice "well anything is better than what you're using now, which is nothing" and then didn't recommend me any product!!! Lady, that was your free ticket to make a sale and you ruined it with your lame attitude. Again, walked out with no product and no tip. I REFUSE to shop there for anything. Sephora is much more professional and their smaller selection/further drive is definitely worth it as opposed to dealing with most of the Ulta employees. Don't waste your time here. read more

I enjoy coming to ulta for my make up. But my first time coming here was a little rough. One of the ladies was rude and acted like I wasn't even there. I shrugged it off. I just went there the other day, and my sister had asked for help from someone. The lady was annoyed that she had asked where something was when she was "socializing". At check-out, the associate was very unfriendly, I did an even exchange with receipt and in the box, 3/4+ of the product was left but I felt as though the product wasn't quite the same as the last one. I loved the color & thought perhaps it was the batch. Very rude associate Ulta! Zero customer service skills and made me feel as though I was horrible for doing an even exchange!! I won't be back. DEFINITELY better service 100 times over at other dept. stores! It's sad that you have to shame customers who are doing legitimate exchanges. I had high hopes for this particular store that everyone wants to rave about! First of all most of the employee's either seem snooty, or like they don't know what they are talking about, or best of all down right rude! I came in with my sons girlfriend showing her some make up, and giving her tips myself because I felt I could do a better job! In fact I was not very happy with one employee when I asked her to show us where the eye shadow primer is located only to basically get insulted! She showed us to the Urban Decay product which has 3 of them, but where she was insulting was she was really trying to push the primer for wrinkles on me! First of all, there was 2 of us there, and second I know I am not in my 20s anymore but thanks!! Do I really look that old!!??? I promptly told her it was for my sons girlfriend! She finally quit trying to push the wrinkle primer on us! The store itself, the products are great! Joaquin is absolutely amazing! Such a sweet person. He was attentive and figured out exactly what my needs were. He offered to sanitize the lipsticks for me to try on and made me fall in love with a couple! He spent lots of time with me and got excited to show me different products. He even matched me with the perfect nude from urban decay without even trying it on. He's definitely got an eye for cosmetics. read more

Overall positive experience here. I love the Benefit Brow Bar service. I have had my brows done twice by two different ladies. Both times they have taken their time and been spot on! I only wish I wasn't sitting in a chair in what feels like the middle of the store getting my brows done with people walking by, shopping, gawking and browsing products nearby. I had my hair done by Erik, the salon manager. WONDERFUL! He really listened to what I wanted and suggested the best options for my hair. He gave me a great deal and best of all, I LOVE my hair now! He took my untamable crazy curly hair and turned it into a manageable masterpiece. It's so soft and styleable! He was very educational, he taught me more about my hair in our one meeting that I have learned in years, and he didn't mind my questions no matter how dumb they seemed. I am very picky with my hair stylist; I look at the types of conversations, amount of hovering, amount of chattiness, comfortable environment, confidence in their craft and of course the end product:and he has earned a client for as long as he is doing hair. A side note: the customer service there is fabulous, you can ask the simple or complex beauty questions and always get an answer. Even the checkout process was easy. This store needs help. I am a frequent Platinum Member shopper at the Corvallis location and was looking forward to this store opening. I typically shop late at night. After work, having fed the family, Yada yada and taking some time spending money on myself. After two visits, here is my take: Great selection at the Springfield location. HOWEVER, the staff is all over the place with customer service. They either do not know much about any of the products (or even care to know), ask if you are "finding everything okay" the second you come through the door, treat you as if you have inconvenienced them when you do have a question or interrogate/treat you like a criminal - heaven forbid you have a return. Bitchy guy associates, are not an incentive to return to this store. I will NOT be frequenting this location. Only for Clinique skincare when I run out (and only for the points - I could buy at Macy's instead) For everything else...Corvallis location. Where they are inviting, helpful, knowledgeable, excited and excellent at up-selling. Also buying online. Because it is the easiest. Sadly, I had hopes for this store. The hiring manager or training staff needs to work a lot harder to make this an inviting store. Especially when it is easier to stay home and shop online these days. The worst staff customer service ever I had called up one afternoon to make a hair appointment to have my hair dyed silver a 3-hour appointment in which the person would be paid over $300 they made my appointment I called the day of my appointment wondering why I hadn't got a text message telling me it was time to go get my hair done and they had no idea who I was so again I made a new appointment and waited for the day of my appointment was wondering hey why didn't I get a text message this is weird call down there they have no idea of me ever calling down there to make an appointment so as things are really busy and backed up with covid I have to wait a whole another month and a half to get my hair done which I'm not going to ever get it done there because in the heat of the moment I said something rude to the lady and now I'm sure they'll ruin my hair gross rude unprofessional and the other time that I did actually have an appointment me and my boyfriend had her hair cut awful I walked out there and looking like an 1980s shoulder pad wearing school teacher mother soccer fan driver weirdo and my boyfriend's hair was ruined we had to wait for it to grow out and start a whole different hairstyle read more

I typically like going to Ulta, but this location is one of my least favorites. The staff stand by the door (to greet people?) but when you walk in they continue talking and ignore you, don't ask if they can help you find anything and when you approach them to ask a question they don't seem to know much. If this happened once maybe twice I could live with it but they are unfriendly and I don't like shopping there. I bought a gift card for my daughter for100.00. Customer service was horrible. Clerk never smiled, her mind seem to be pre occupied. She did not say thank you of any kind. A good sales person or at least someone that cared would of asked who the card was for. I would of said my daughter. Then the perfect opportunity to ask if there was anything I would like for myself. This salon was a great find, and Morgan and Eric are amazing! I went to Ulta salon today to fix a mess created by one of the upscale Eugene salons. I was super nervous but was told Morgan was the best so I scheduled with him. I sat in his chair, he looked at my hair, and knew exactly what needed to be done to fix my ashy highlights and odd haircut. He and Eric (another gem at this salon) worked their magic and I couldn't be happier! My hair now looks great and looks nothing like the mess I waked in with. They did a great job and I found my new go to hair guys! Thank you Morgan and Eric!! If you are looking for some a really talented hair stylist/colorist, go see Morgan or Eric at Ulta. Awful customer service! I have been in there several times at different times of the day and have only had one person assist me ever. All the girls are busy standing around talking and drinking their Starbucks that sits out on the make up counter. About 5 months ago: Well for starters the customer service is hit or miss here (hence the 2 stars). I have a SEVER aleergy to talc and when I walked in there and asked if they had any makeup without talc and sunscreen (it gives me a HUGE rash) I watched as the woman walked away to ask her manager (a guy don't know his name) who promptly said "what's talc?" SERIOUSLY?! You don't know what talc is? So i found ONE product in the whole store and only ONE foundation in this one product (that the woman had to look up on Google bless her heart!) Yesterday and today: I went back asking about their brushes and got semi okay info on them but not THAT good (I got better info on their website). I got my brushes then remembered that I needed brow color. After asking this woman if she thinks its the right color for me she says "YES, most definitly it is." I ask her if she could help me put it on and show me how.... SHE DID ONE BROW ONLY!! She walked away and helped another customer after she did my ONE BROW. So today I TRIED to bring back the brushes and was told since I had used the brushes they can't give me money back it HAS to be on a card, it doesn't even have to be on the SAME card that i used. Well I only have THAT ONE CARD, and it was AT HOME!! So after getting mad that I had to drive back and fourth JUST TO RETURN SMETHING got me a tad mad!! Then i went to Sephora and found the same things, but with MORE pleasent people working there who know what they are talking about. So needeless to say I won't be going back there. read more

This is the first Yelp review I've done. I'm taking the time to do this after experiencing the WORST customer service of my life! I've given it three different visits before feeling compelled to write this review but it really is this bad and the norm, it appears, after my now third unpleasant experience. I was so excited to see that there was an Ulta now at Gateway after moving back to the area from Bend! I love all the products and the layout of the store. I've been in there (Gateway) three times now, as previously mentioned, and each time my experience has been worse than the last. The management openly discusses employee problems/issues as well as many other complaints (personal problems, complaints about the company, the lack of product stock ect). As in I'm literally one foot away from three employees, one was the lead or manager, and not once did they ask me if I was finding what I needed or offered a welcome. But wait! Then I get some guy appear in my face and say, " Excuse me...where did you find that brush"? His tone and proximity to me was one of accusatory and quite aggressive. I looked at him like you're kidding right? He then lectures me on the proper procedure for using a brush to try on a product. Then he basically followed me from the IT to the Mally isle harassing me, not helping. Oh, stopping as he passed a mirror to compliment his application of his eyebrow makeup to the manager leaning against the counter. He then goes to the cash register and I over hear him complaining that customers just think they can come in and do what ever they want ect ect...Excuse me? I buy SO many cosmetics, often at Sephora and Nordstrom's so I would say I'm somewhat of a seasoned cosmetics shopper. I've never had such unprofessional help in a cosmetics store. The manager/lead was literally leaning up against the brow bar just staring at customers with the WORST look on her face. There was ONE girl actually working her tail off bouncing between customers while the rest of them were negative, immature, unprofessional and just down right RUDE! I will NEVER go back! ULTA...you need to clean house at that location. Get some mature, helpful employees who have manners and actually represent your company as i'm sure Ulta would want. What a complete nightmare! Such a shame that I can't shop there as I do love the store! Btw...there is a REAL problem in that store with a customers ability to try on products. Not enough clean brushes (or employee's offering to provide any). If I'm going to walk out with $200-$500 worth of product then I expect to have helpful, friendly customer service and clean applicators available! Also, don't harass customers who are legitimately there to try products on prior to purchase! They act like you are stealing when you're trying makeup on? I've NEVER felt so insulted in my life! I also don't want to know how dysfunctional the managers employees are from her mouth. She stated that she has had, "Such good luck hiring the men in the store cause they may be gay but they aren't total bitches". Seriously!!!! Please plant someone in your store, unbeknown to the employees, and see for yourself what's going on! Such ignorance and immaturity! I'll never go back! Its nice to frequent a company where the staff is professional and take time to listen to my questions and concerns. I have never felt put out or a bother when I ask for assistance when looking for a product. It is also nice to have an associate not recommend the most expensive item in the store but base the recommendation on what is best suited for my needs.
