I love Ulta but I wonder if the staff at this location does too. I have visited a few times. I recently stopped in to get a certain popular palette that was on sale significantly longer than Ultas competitors (plus for Ulta for rocking the sale longer!). The store is always clean and well stocked which is awesome, but when checking out you can just get the fatigue of the staff. Yes I know my recent visit was the holiday time, but this is every time. I was so excited to follow my stylist to this location per her request, until my first & last visit 4/19. My service was interrupted twice by customers needing assistance! I would NEVER interrupt a stylist while they were cutting someone's hair! One of the customers wanted an immediate consultation on which hairspray to use so my stylist stopped cutting my hair and walked over to the hairspray section of the store to give her the consultation she asked for! 10 minuets later the second customer felt the need to pull my stylist aside to ask her multiple questions about getting scheduled to have a Consultation with another stylist the next day! Ummm hello I'm scheduled for a service! People schedule appointments for a reason! Maybe if the people who were working the floor were more attentive to the customers walking in the door looking for assistance rather than standing around chit chatting or touching up their makeup I wouldn't have had to RETURN to the salon the NEXT DAY to have my haircut corrected because my stylist clipper cut the sides of my hair in two different directions because she was distracted! The culture of this store beyond ridiculous! Not to mention I am beyond disappointed with the stylist I followed to this location! This salon is two thumbs down! read more

I went to return a flat iron I purchased online. At the counter, I was told I could only return for 'Ulta merch' (in-store credit). The chip in my bank card had gone bad and I had been issued a new one, so they couldn't 'tell if it was me or someone else returning the product'. Really?! I have a rewards card, complete with name, address and the date of my purchase (2 weeks ago). The same product I was returning. Yet, I couldn't return the product in store, only through customer service. No cash back option, only 'in-store merch'. I called customer service. 12+ minutes later, they came back to say my options were 'in-store credit' or I could request a check; 'stores don't have the tools to do a return to a different card'. I don't shop at Ulta enough to spend $130 in a year, so I want my money back. That took another 6+ minutes. Then I was told I could do a check request, taking 7-21 days. Fine, check request is what I want. When the agent returned to the line, I asked, 'what do I do with this device, I don't want it!?' Oh, wait, then he informed me I would have to return the device on my own dime, they won't issue a return label. WTF?! I told him fine, I'll return it. Whoever from corporate decided this policy is good is an idiot! You risk damage through return of an item via shipping instead of in-store, as well as the cost of printing checks. In-store return for the same name via a little verification would have been easier, or return for cash. I won't even shop here again for any higher priced items. It wasn't my fault my bank card had a bad chip and I got a new one. This is one of the dumbest policies I've seen lately. And you just lost a customer. read more

The staff at this location are questionable. I went and got my hair styled for an event because it takes FORever to curl my hair. My appointment started 20 minutes late ... which was frustrating when you literally schedule an appointment. The woman that did my hair was fine. Nothing special. When I went to check out, the lady at the register was SO RUDE. They were running a special for first-time Ulta salon goers but she wouldn't give me the discount. Because I was now in a hurry (because my appointment started late and it took an interestingly long time to curl my hair), I just decided it wasn't worth the fight. However, I did vow to never go back to this Ulta again, which will be pretty easy since there are multiple locations nearby. P.S. My hair was finished and I left the store around 4:45 and my curls were flat by 7:30 ... read more

I love ULTA! I used to shop all my beauty finds at Sephora... but Ulta has won me over! First of all the customer service...the assistance and help is awesome....I love the great suggestions and help I get here at Ulta. Also love the Ulta Rewards Program...You get 1 point per dollar spent and you can redeem your points as dollars off of anything in-store...way cooler and awesome than the rewards program at Sephora.. where you get cosmetic samples..which is nice...but I really prefer and appreciate the dollars off rewards system better! I don't think I'll be returning to Ulta in Woodbury. Each time I go, I never get approached or asked if I need help. I don't know if it's because of my age (I'm 53) or why, but every time, I have to go find someone to help me. I literally will walk by employees, clearly looking for something, and no one asks me if I need help. I think they cater to a younger crowd quite honestly. I've been there to purchase gifts, look for products for myself... but I'm done. read more

Wonderful blow out and haircut with Hannah, who wasn't intimidated in the least by my insanely thick hair! I have a perfect layered bob and couldn't be happier. Also love that the salon has access to a universe of hair products, so there's no hard sell ala JUUT. (I'm so over Aveda.) Walked out with 2 liters of Redken on sale! Happy hair, happy me. read more

All the ladies today and the 1 male worker were all super friendly and helpful, we are all now internet friends, I had an awesome experience here! Randi one of the managers helped me check out and another blonde near prestige cosmetics has my card and we are friends now, she was a great shopping buddy. Also, the other manager with ombre hair was great and helpful, it was a stellar shopping experience! They helped me make decisions like if we were friends shopping together! I would definitely come back here again, and it would be great if they could carry the Shea Moisture brand of makeup. But unfortunately right now it is only available online. Shucks. Hopefully soon! Apparently "I don't like a lot of product in my hair" and then telling the stylist exactly what products I wanted means use mousse, two different sprays and a finishing spray. I am so frustrated because I get blowouts in order to not wash my hair very much, but now I paid $40 plus tip to just go and wash my hair again. Seriously why can't they listen. Ps. The drugstore section of the store is consistently bare, as though they're trying to get rid of entire sections of product. I thought it was because they were trying to make room for new stuff, but it went on for literal months last year, and now after they've made room for Morphe, Flower, etc., it's happening again. I should have taken pictures - I'm not exaggerating when I say that there are gaping holes in their display from product not being restocked in almost every drugstore brand. I also noticed that one of their 5-star reviews on Google is from one of their own hairstylists. Yikes. Ulta as a brand is wonderful, but if you're looking for non-prestige makeup, go to the website or another location because this ain't it. read more

The gel manicure lasted for 3 days. Keep in mind I don't do anything out of the ordinary with my hands so there's no reason it should have chipped that fast, at $35 for a manicure it should last the 2-3 weeks that they promised. On top of that, the employees here are extremely rude. This is the worst ulta I've ever been in. I don't know how this place stays in business with such rude employees and terrible service. read more

Rob at the St Louis Park Ulta location just gave me the best blonde of my life! At the risk of completely booking him up for the next year, Rob is the Rembrandt of blonde hair color! I brought in pictures of different blonde highlighting that I liked and he took the time to find out what it was about it that I really liked. I don't look like Jennifer Aniston...but I've now got her hair :) Thank you Rob for bringing sparkle back to my hair with your brilliant skills! I had to exchange makeup because it was not the correct color for my complexion. The store was very busy, and I was impressed that they called more clerks up to ring very quickly. Makeup exchanged no problem. The service was friendly and there were a lot of good sales. read more

Last night I stopped in to purchase L'Oréal's new Infallible Fresh Wear foundation. After not finding it, I asked Ashley at the counter if they carried it? She said "no" and stated that they were discontinuing the L'Oréal line and recommended I go to Target. What? I later learned that's false, L'Oréal is staying. Whew. So I asked a different employee on the floor if the store had the foundation or not, due to their remodel she suggested I just order it in the store and have it delivered. Great solution! However, we were then interrupted by a male employee who rudely took over the conversation, asked what I was looking for in a foundation, I stated that I just wanted this specific foundation, he continuously ignored what I said and forcefully pushed the PUR foundation and listed reasons why L'Oréal is terrible compared to PUR, all while calling me "honey" and praising himself for doing makeup for 20 years! I ordered the L'Oréal foundation at the counter and I'm looking forward to having it delivered! Thank you to the nice lady who recommended store to door delivery. However, male employee, check your ego at the door, do less talking and more LISTENING to the customer, your attitude and behavior was appalling! read more

This just recently opened, so I went to check it out. This is the worst Ulta I have ever been in. I will not go back. Upon walking in, I was greeted. So I then started to look for the item I needed, and couldn't find it. No help in sight. A bunch of employees standing around chatting aand doing nothing. So I got out my cell phone to find the name of the product and went to the front to pay. I stood right next to the cash register for at least five minutes. The worker was standing there and ignored me. She finally looked up and asked if I was ready-I wanted to say no I'm must standing here for fun! Every lady in there was a snob! What a nightmare, I don't believe the place will stay around with workers so rude. read more

I went to this Ulta location on a Sunday afternoon to see if I could get an item I saw online. I was in the store for 30 minutes, and not one person bothered to help me. The employees were all talking to each other. The only person who spoke to me was a woman who thanked me for coming as I walked out empty handed. I won't be going back. read more

Aspen did an awesome job waxing my brows just how I wanted them, and she put makeup on them after, as well as showed me where I could find one of the products I was interested in. I used to frequently shop here until the last time I walked in with my 3 year old daughter about a year ago. I asked for some help with nail polish to identify gel versus non-gel types, and was treated like an inconvenience by the store manager. I was getting ready to check-out when my daughter, who was going through potty training at the time, told me she had to go urgently. I left the nail polish on the counter and ran her to the bathroom. The security guard followed me all the way back to the restrooms. Walking back to the registers, the salon staff and store employees looked absolutely miserable. Not one person smiled or asked me if I needed assistance. In fact, the staff here have NEVER looked happy and actually have an unwelcoming presence. Rude is the best word to describe the employees. Finally, as I was leaving the store, the security guard followed me out, and placed his car immediately in front of my car as I was buckling my daughter into her car seat. At that point, I asked him if he needed to check my diaper bag, or wanted to see the receipt for my PAID merchandise. He acted like he didn't hear me, and drove away in a white Lexus SUV. I left there feeling judged, offended and disgusted, and decided to call the Knollwood Management. If carrying a diaper bag into Ulta is considered high-risk, then they need to communicate their expectations for purses and outside bags. If taking a child to the bathroom (without merchandise) is considered a possible theft, then they need not provide a public bathroom. Whatever the case for being followed and intimidated in the way that I was, they lost a valuable customer, along with a lot of other people who have stop shopping here since hearing my story. read more
