Something Nice Electrolysis is in a new building and it makes all the difference. I really loved…read morethem before, but the new decor is very relaxing. I feel comfortable with the purple-gray walls and cute black furniture more so than I did when it looked like just a makeshift space that used to be formica counter top offices. I still insist on seeing Linda. She is *my* specialist. She has all my information on file and works with my schedule. When I put aside an hour block of time we are typically able to get 35-45 minutes of hair removal out of the way. The hair she's removed from my fingers hasn't returned and my eyebrows still look good from years ago. I've started taking a little more off from them, but not a whole lot needs to be done. It's been so successful that I've started having her work on other areas. No more bearded lady!

Over a decade ago a vehicle ran into mine head-on and left me seriously injured. After the…read moreaccident, I had too much pain and stiffness to be able to twist and turn my neck at all, I could not raise my arms high enough to reach my face, and due to a brain injury, I could not focus my eyes to see myself in any detail in a mirror; consequently, I could not tend to my own personal care such as plucking my eyebrows to remove the unwanted monobrow or the more reprehensible errant hairs that would pop out here and there due to my age. A dear friend (who I no longer saw at work), Shirley, and I got together for lunch and I was telling her how distressing I found this and that is when she told me about Linda and SOMETHING NICE. She said when her granddaughter (I think it was?) made the comment, "Grandma, you have a mustache," she decided to find a solution and that was going to Linda for the removal of her unwanted hair. It sounded good to me and so I took her recommendation and booked my first session. Linda explained everything about the procedure, the machine, and how they keep things sterile and safe. She made adjustments to find the best level to be comfortable and efficient for me. It usually takes 3 sessions of zapping each follicle to kill it completely, and after each hair has been treated it is dead and gone, never to return. I wholeheartedly recommend this procedure and especially Linda or any of the pleasant estheticians at Something Nice. It is practically like a therapy session to lie there chatting while being worked on, and for me, while all the other physical therapy and treatments I was having for my injuries were seeming to have no benefit, the electrolysis solved a problem I was having, showed immediate results, and got rid of something unwanted for good, which was definitely a boost to the morale and self-image. I will never have to worry about being a grandma with a mustache. You might feel it is expensive, but think of the cost adding up each year of all the other methods that would need to be employed. No more waxing or lotions, tweezers or razors; and consider all the time and bother over the course of your life that will be eliminated. It's a wonderful thing.

She does amazing work and is so good at putting people at ease. The building where her studio is located is easy to get to and there is plenty of parking. The studio itself is cute and clean. I specifically booked…read more"Sugaring - Brazilian" because waxing always breaks my hair off at the skin instead of pulling it out. Jenn was on her phone and distracted when I came in. Conversation was zero. I got ready for the sugaring, she got started, and about halfway through I mentioned how this was the most painful sugaring experience I've ever had. It was painful because Jenn was using wax. She didn't bother to check on her appointments or confirm with me what I wanted. Maybe if she had put her phone down before we got started, I wouldn't have had such a horrendous experience. We finished out the waxing and just a few days later, I had hair because it all was broken off. I've never had my lashes tinted or lifted before this, but they are basically crimped upward, not curled. I have nothing to compare to, but I'm guessing she just did a poor job. She also remarked how "coarse" my lashes were, which was insulting. All around bad experience. I would not recommend her nor will I ever go back.

Sakada Studios - Coming home "styled". It looks like there are regrowth lines, but those were painted in. In my usual style, there is a straight line across.

Jaynee Studer For…read morethe past seventy - four years, I have been getting my hair cut about every five to six weeks. In that number of years, I have been to many barbers and stylists. The reason I am writing this review is to say that Jaynee Studer at Sakada is the best stylist I have ever had. I have been going to her for over two and one - half years and she is superb in every respect. She is an exceptional stylist and has found a way to cut my hair (with all of its cowlicks) so that it always looks very nice when she is finished. For over ten years, I went to a stylist at another salon and, after ten years, she could never even remember on which side I parted my hair! Jaynee is exceptional in her techniques and I would recommend her highly to anyone who is looking for a stylist. Besides being excellent at her profession, Jaynee is also very friendly and personable and a good person with whom to have a conversation. I always look forward to my appointments with her.

I went to Sakada at the beginning of the new year, had a nice Balayage, and cut with one of the…read morestylists there. I returned to get a nice new look for date night; unfortunately, I had horrible service this time around. I did bring in a reference photo for inspiration. I was open to talking about colors if there was a need to. I was a golden blonde on the parts that were balayage from last time. After some discussion, Melia asked if I looked like the reference photo and if I would be happy. I said yes. The service started fine, but she didn't get a lift from my hair. She said she feared damage, but I don't know why she didn't do a strand test if that was the case. Either way, she went through it again, and this time, it lifted very yellow. I was pretty concerned when she was drying it and not noticing that it needed some correction. She kept saying there were light issues, but being next to a big window, I didn't feel that was the case. I asked her if we could put some toner or something to help it. She did this, but it left blue spots in my hair, and I felt my blonde pieces were inconsistent in tone and application. She styled me before I really had a chance to look it over and as we were over time she had me pay her. She gave me her card and kind of awkwardly said if I needed anything to contact her. When I got home, I looked at my hair closer, but it didn't look good. I went to straighten it to get a better look at the issues; it was apparent that this was a bad outcome. I'm extremely disappointed in the lack of honesty. I understand mistakes happen, but professionals note when things don't turn out well and schedule customers for a fix before leaving. I sent my photo to get an opinion and was advised this would need some big color correction. I do believe in giving people another shot if I think they can do it. However, I already made many comments of concern about the color to which I felt wasn't validated when it should have been. I also didn't feel we had enough trust if she let me walk out looking this way. My hair already went through a lot and I don't have the confidence that she has a solution to get me where I want. I did ask for a refund as I would need to pay for a corrective service. It's one thing if this was about a matter of taste, but this was technically a bad job. In a text, she said she didn't do refunds and would do a corrective treatment followed by recommendations of foils. I don't want foils; I want blended pieces. Right now, I have harsh lines in my hair that shouldn't be there. There was back and forth about whether she thought this was a good outcome and about consistency/patterns. I have had multiple balayages over the years, and I know what is expected, so it was pointless to argue further. At this point, I think the pictures speak for themselves. It sucks when things go wrong, but I would have hoped that it would have been acknowledged at the time of the appointment or at least in the end. I did get my tip back after I sent pictures to push my point further, but this experience was beyond disappointing. Lessons I learned: 1) These people are independent contractors, which means their work is not guaranteed. Make sure you discuss bad results and alternative solutions if they are not nailing the look they promised. A good stylist stands behind their work and cares about your happiness. If you have any doubt, go somewhere else. 2) Be your own advocate. If you are too shy to say something, go somewhere else that has a manager in charge. 3) Always tell them to do a test strand if they have any concerns about lifting or hair integrity. It's better to do a test than doing a service again and running out of time. 4) If you are in doubt, ask another stylist in the salon to come over and give feedback. That way, you will know if your concerns are valid.
