This Ulta location is great. The employees are always super friendly and helpful. Today I went to find some hair volume products to use with my Dyson. My hair type doesn't always hold well when I use it so I wanted a volume mousse or something else that I can use to do my blowouts. When I first got there, one girl asked me if I needed help and I told her my dilemma. She recommended two brands that she said have good products. She recommended a pricier brand and one that is a bit cheaper which was really nice. She always reminded me that if it doesn't work, I can return anything within 30 days, even if it's been used. When I went to checkout, the cashier was also super kind. Throughout my time there, many different people asked if I needed anything which I really appreciated. If you happened upon my nightmarish experience with the Heathers, er Sallys I guess, of Cuyahoga Falls' Sally Beauty Supply, let me first assure you that I finally achieved some vivid hair color not found in nature. I couldn't bear exposing myself to the trolling of the Sallys, and I had no hope of any better treatment from that store so I drove to Kent to try a different location. As I mentioned, Sally has always been great--- the employees at the Howe Street store just intentionally gave me bad advice and lied about products when I asked questions. My eyesight is poor and I need assistance with small print. By the time I got there, it was closed and I threw my hands down in frustration. I saw Ulta across the parking lot and I started walking. A woman who was involved with a customer at a curbside pickup told me they were closing soon. I asked if I was allowed inside. I was masked. She said "oh sure!" She followed me inside and when I turned abruptly to face her she jumped back and warded me off. "Too close!" She yelled. "I don't think you will find anything you want here." She continued. "Thank you." I replied. I walked away feeling her breath on my back. Five-ish short frantic minutes later I seized upon "Anime" a delightful blue dye from Lime Crime's Unicorn Hair line. I had rushed through the clean, well-organized shelves easily finding my prize. I briefly considered a few other purchases, but the unpleasant woman made me feel unwelcome and I just wanted to leave. I found the checkout. A woman stood in line ---arms overflowing with goods. She tried to wave me ahead of her and little bottles started bouncing to the floor. "You have a right to your place in line" I said with a smile. "But..." "And no one would want to stand with all of that rather than put in down on the counter. Please" I made sure that my genuine smile was evident, "go ahead." And she did. Now the awful woman came up to a closed register. An apparent friend of hers came right up to her, they pressed their heads close together and cooed about some item. Then they looked at me. Both clacked their tongues. "I suppose I can take you here," Misery sighed. "I suppose you can." I replied. "I will need your phone number and id for your rewards." "I don't have a card and I will never shop here again." "You can give the points to someone else." Disturbed that she might be suggesting herself or her friend, I pointed quickly at the still checking out nice woman who had been ahead of me in the line. "Give my rewards to her." I happened to run into the nice woman in the parking lot. She told me her own story about the strange behavior of the unpleasant employee, who had ignored her as she shopped and then walked up to her as she stood waiting for someone to come to the register and asked her, as she stood with her arms full, "did you find everything okay?" The employee had then turned and walked away. She had not offered a basket nor had she opened the register. "I spend a thousand dollars a month in there and now I don't think I want to go back." Here's why to go in: clean, well organized aisles and a smattering of every category. Is Ulta still the JC Penny of beauty? Yes. I'm new to the area and stumbled across the shopping center while picking up an order from another store nearby. Went into Ulta for tinted moisturizer and came out with so much more! Taylor was so helpful in helping me find a facial primer that would give me a dewy appearance AND not wreck my super sensitive skin. She recommended mixing with my concealer for all over tinted moisturizer affect. Then while trying to find a particular eyeshadow palette, she put me in the direction of a 50% off sale on a Two Faced large pallete! The Ulta brand mini eyeshadow palettes were exactly what I needed and were so much more affordable than some of the others I had been looking at. I love the fact that they have a return policy unlike some other big box stores, so I kept my receipt in case anything causes me to break out or if I didn't like the pigment of the palettes o bought. read more

I haven't had any bad experiences at this Ulta location! They always have what I need in stock. My mom gets her brows done at the Brow Bar and has never had anything bad to say. The employees are knowledgeable and quick to help! read more

Usually I never have a problem here but considering it's christmas eve I felt like I had to leave a note! Very rude and disrespectful. The cashier rolled her eyes at me as she proceeded to go check if an item was in the back.. Which didn't seem like a back breaking task. Couldn't properly answer any of my concerns regaurding a coupon or even explain it to me. I was going to go back inside but they said they were closing early and couldn't help me, that the coupon couldn't work for my items... (which after I looked it up it could have). If you can't handle helping / working with people then just simply don't. ‍‍‍ Update: Its after christmas and I came in way earlier before closing and didn't have a problem. Maybe it just depends on how busy it is and who is working... Also the coupon did end up working, and luckily gave me a new one since the old one was thrown away, which was considerate. read more

So today I thought "I really need to do something with this hair"... at like 2pm. So I go to Yelp and find that it's kind of late because a lot of places close at 4 maybe 5 if you're lucky. call a couple places and find out it's homecoming weekend can't find anything. Also I moved to Akron from Aurora a couple of months ago and haven't found a Hair Salon yet. So then I find Ulta and discover that they are open really late so I made an appointment online for 330 by this time it was 3 o'clock lol. So I walk in and the girl that's gonna do my color is working on someone else and she hasn't had a break so they ask if I could wait about 20 minutes I was fine with that. so I explained what I kind of wanted Taylor did my color and she did an awesome job. Charise (sp?) did my cut and it's perfect I can't rave enough about the job they both did! This will be my go to salon from now on! read more

The store itself is fine and the brow bar is good but the salon services are terrible and expensive.

After trying to call the store multiple times to find out about the Juvia's place sale and not getting an answer, I went up to this location in hopes of getting better help. No dice. I wasn't greeted by anyone in the store despite them seeing me walk in and watch me walk though the store looking for someone to assist me. When I finally did find someone, she explained that Juvias Place was not sold at that location due to "demographic" and that I should try, not online, but a location 45 minutes away. I asked to speak with the store manager to see if I could order it offline to be shipped to the store and she, without making eye contact or even acknowledging that I was there at all, rudely said "no" and walked back to the front of the store to stand behind the register, doing nothing. My Stylist (Morgan Cooper) Was Very Professional Her Station Was Clean And Neat As Well As The Whole Store. I Had My Hair Cut And Hair Dye In And Out Out There In 55 Minutes And Everything Was Great. I have an issue with the Kent Ohio Store. I left a message with the manager on duty last night and she said the general manager would call me this morning and I left a message with the call center. I sent this message and I have not heard from anyone. This is what the issue is: I came in on Sunday and had my make up and hair done besides my two girls. The girls who did our hair was amazing. No complaints at all. Very nice and professional. however, the make up. Before we started I asked what services I was signed up for and I was told make up and hair. Make up was first. She used a cloth to clean my face, and I asked her what she was doing and that is what she said she was doing. She applied my make up and I had asked prior for false eyelashes. They told me they were $10.00. ok (they didn't even stay before the wedding started). I also brought $40.00 of make up for them to put make up on my oldest daughter and then they charged me $40.00 for someone over by the make up to put on foundation and then the girl (Leah, who put on my make up) to put eye shadow on.. which I thought was over priced. When I went to check out someone else did it (leah went behind a screen and couldn't finished us) and I noticed I was charge $7.00 for a facial. I didn't approve this. But I paid for it. but the killer is I get a phone call from Leah to ask about the wedding then to tell me I walked out the store and didn't pay for the eyelashes. Which I paid $10.00 for. Didn't know that was just to put them on and how would I know it was a separate charge from my bill. That was totaling unprofessional and uncalled for. Then nobody can take the time to call me but to tell me to drive 40 minutes to pay $3.00. I have told a lot of people about this and they can't believe how I was treated. Pretty good prices, usually a nice selection of items and the employees are always very nice in here. I am always happy when I go here and the employees always ask me if I need help finding anything. I love the sales they have too. I really love the breast cancer awareness sale with the $5 items in pink! I think it's so nice to think about breast cancer awareness. I love how our money goes to the breast cancer donations too. But I always get a lot of compliments from the employees when I come in here and they are all compliments I love getting :) read more

Nice selection of products, decent prices, clean store. You can pretty much try everything out, and everything is very accessible. As far as customer service goes, I'd say 90% of the associates are very kind, helpful, and approachable. They go out of their way to answer questions and are very helpful. It's a great store read more
