    Route 66 Extended Warranty

I write this review with mixed feelings. Having worked in credit unions for years, I have sold…read moreplenty of Route 66 Warranty products. One reason I felt comfortable recommending the product was because I had purchased it myself. The first time I purchased a Route 66 warranty, my vehicle ended up being a total loss not long afterward. I was impressed because they fully refunded the cost of the warranty with no issues. So, after the factory warranty expired on my new vehicle, I didn't hesitate to purchase another Route 66 extended warranty -- a 7-year/75,000-mile plan. Not long after my manufacturer's warranty ended, I started having one repair after another. At first, I thought, "Thank God I bought the warranty." Unfortunately, that feeling didn't last. I will take part of the blame for not reading the fine print closely enough, but here is the issue: I am only in year 3 of the 7-year warranty and nowhere near 75,000 miles, yet I was told the warranty had expired. When I called, the representative explained that the coverage actually ends once they have paid repairs up to the value of the vehicle. According to them, this information is buried in the contract "on page 2, paragraph 2" or something similar. I was furious, to say the least. I asked about the remaining years and mileage on my contract, and the representative basically told me I would need to either go elsewhere or purchase another warranty. To be fair, the warranty did help cover repairs while it lasted, so I can say it is not a bad product. However, consumers absolutely need to read the fine print carefully and understand the payout limits before purchasing. Even the representative at the dealership told me he had never heard of a warranty ending this way. Stay informed and make sure you fully understand what you are buying before you need to file a claim.

Everything went well. Was done when estimated, called to notify that it was done. Price was reasonable. So I'm good I'll take my Ram 3500 there again for service.

disclaimer, long review:…read more On Monday July 15, 2019, we dropped my Jeep Grand Cherokee off at Ultimate Auto. We initially took it in for basic maintenance before taking it on a road trip to make sure it was in solid condition. We filled out the form listing we wanted the oil changed, service transmission, check why my check engine light was on (call with quote before doing anything), check brakes, and check front end that was squeaking (call with quote before doing anything). We wanted the bare minimum done to this vehicle. We wanted it to be safe to drive, but nothing that was unnecessary or something we could do without for a little while longer (we already knew this would be a pricey tab just doing the minimum). Come Thursday July 18, 2019, we pick up my car around noon. My car runs great, but upon leaving and studying our $2000 receipt, we see a ($400-$500) charge for "4-wheel drive maintenance". This didn't sound familiar to my husband who had been the one communicating with the service techs and other Ultimate Auto employees. A few hours later I went back to Ultimate (originally for a different reason than this mystery charge), but while I was there I asked what the charge was and what all it entailed. The man helping me was extremely kind and helpful. He explained what it was and told me that the person who had done it (Kelby?) wasn't going to be back until the following Tuesday and that they would have him call my husband when he got back and could possibly issue a refund for that service since it was unnecessary and we, once again, wanted the bare minimum done to the car. Flash forward to Tuesday July 23, 2019, my husband was in contact with Ultimate Auto regarding the refund. They told him that they would refund us and that an email would be sent to us for proof that our refund went through. It never came. Wednesday July 24, 2019, my husband calls Ultimate Auto again because we never received an email verifying our refund that was supposedly sent the following day. The person he talked to claimed to be the person who did the "4 wheel drive maintenance" and stated that they WEREN'T giving us our refund and how they're looking into it more and pulling the phone records. **okay, pause. What kind of crookedness is this? Especially from what is suppose to be a professional, reputable business. To say you're issuing a refund on Tuesday and then (without even notifying the customer who is waiting on the refund) you decide "oh, never mind" on Wednesday??? Anyways, a couple hours later my husband received another calling saying how they won't be issuing a refund and that we are welcome to come in and listen to the phone records for a "peace of mind". -this is currently where we're standing as of an hour ago. I do plan on going in myself on Friday and listening to this precious recording. If they have my husband recorded saying "YES. Service the 4-wheel drive" then so be it. We'll happily move on. If I do not hear confirmation of the "4-wheel drive maintenance" then I will be moving on to upper management. But, for a business to state on multiple occasions that they will issue a refund and then never do it is just sorry and extremely poor business. Regardless, I will never go back to or recommend Ultimate Auto Group to anyone I know.
