My beagle needed his nails trimmed and was overdue for a bath. I've passed Ultimutt several times over the last few months and made a mental note to get him an appointment. We had some free time on Sunday afternoon and I called to see if they could squeeze him in as a walk in. We lucked out that there were cancellations and Julie and Janet got him in ASAP. We opted for the bath and brush service. It's currently $40 for a beagle and includes- shampoo, condition, nail trim, ear cleaning/ear plucking, tooth brushing, brush out, anal gland expression. Since we came in on a Sunday, they gave him 20% off for his first visit. Took about an hour. Good location, clean facility, friendly employees and my little guy looked happy and spiffy with a little scarf tied around his neck. Annette and her team at Ultimutt are, hands down, the best groomers I've ever been to. Maui owners are so lucky. She's understandably busy, but you need to just wait for her next appointment and become her client. Despite their transition, Ultimutt is reaching out to clients and helping navigate alternatives and is very responsive to texts and emails. Back to Annette and her skill as a groomer: She turned my boy into the IDEAL goldendoodle in a matter of months - when he had been given short and unfortunate cuts before. Im SUPER pissed! I just turned up for my double dog appointment and they turned me away!! They were short a groomer so i got bumped even though i made the appointment weeks ago. I received a text and confirmed by text the day before, but they didn't text me to tell me my double appointment had been canceled at the last minute. They called (i keep my phone on mute for work reasons) a few hours before, instead of texting which is the way i receive all my communication with this business since they have a system set up.. I drove an hour each way to Kahului for this appointment to be told they "might be able to squeeze me into an appointment in a 2 or 3 weeks time, but not both dogs together". Aaaagggghhhg! Every groomer on the island is totally booked and ive been DUMPED by my regular groomer. So much for my 3 previous reviews saying how great they were! If there is a groomer on Maui reading this that has a double appointment for a full groom for my dogs available please contact me through Yelp, i'm desperate! Hi guys! Glad your reading this, what a great doggie salon I found! Under new management, wow are they great. It's a busy Saturday and Petco has not picked up the phone so I can confirm my expensive appt. So I say forget it, I need to find another place. So I looked on Yelp, and found Ultimutt. After checking the reviews, I called and a friendly voice helped me set an appt for an hour later for a full wash and nail trim for my big 100 lb puppy gurl! We arrived, made quick introductions and left. When I arrived 90 minutes later , my Nahla was clean and happy. It was seriously the easy button to getting my dog cared for! Today was Sydney's first time at the groomers! I saw Ultimutt in Wailuku one day while driving and looked them up on their IG and website. I called direct and spoke to a very pleasant gentleman, who booked our appointment. My first impression when entering their salon was that it was very clean, had a wonderful shampoo smell, and felt very welcoming to us! Janet at the reception desk was very nice - greeted us with a smile! Sydney's groomer was Mindie and she was wonderful!! She took great care of our dog baby!! Sydney had the full service groom which included shampoo, conditioning, full body cut, nail trim, ear cleaning, tooth brushing, and anal expression. We even received a first time discount! Mindie was super nice and extremely knowledgeable - we appreciate that she took the time afterwards to talk with us about Sydney's appointment and her recommendations moving forward. New owner! Everyone was friendly and professional. Staff is good with dogs. My dog adjusted pretty quickly and we all felt comfortable. They make a contact card for you and your pet so they remember the dogs comfort and preference. So that way next time you come, they know exactly what you need. My dog has sensitive skin and she's nervous about grooming. So I'm usually hesitant about groomers, but Ultimutt Grooming Salon is knowledgeable and prepared for it all. Plan for about a couple hours or a little more than that after dropping off your pet. They call you when your pet is ready to pick up. My dog had a cute little hair bow when we picked her up and she was so happy and pretty. Plan ahead for parking though, because it's on the corner of central and Main Street there's always cars driving up and down the street (in front of the parking stalls). I was super stoked but a little worried because it was her first time there and she has major separation anxiety. But when she was ready to get picked up she was happy and wagging her tail. Do NOT take your dog here for grooming. This business has the WORST customer service. I showed up for an 8am appointment this morning to find out that they have closed the salon for the second time. I did not receive a call, text or email letting me know that my appointment would be cancelled. I took a day off work to bring my dog for grooming all the way from Kihei. This is actually the second time that this business has done this to me. The first one was a few months ago, due to remodeling the salon. I decided to give them a second chance and this is the service I get. Don't waste your time here. They should remain closed for good. read more

Very professional and caring dog groomers. I took my dog here and was worried as it was her first time getting groomed and she has major separation anxiety as well as health issues. They reassured me and had my dog's best interests in mind, commenting on her skin and asking if a vet had ever recommended not getting her groomed. I took my 5lb long hair Chihuahua to Ultimutt Grooming for a fun Halloween dye job and I'm glad I did. This is probably not something I would attempt to DIY even with dog safe dyes. The process was explained well but I was a little nervous because my pup has never been to a groomer and she can be nippy if she gets fearful. The first round was good and my dog was handled well but I wanted a slightly different look so I brought her back. Annette was great, she was totally willing to work with me to deliver a result I was happy with and she communicated everything well from start to finish. Made appointment 3 months in advance. Dropped our sweet 4lb Yorkie off at 10 AM. Went back at 11:45 AM & the lady who dropped her dog off after us was leaving with a freshly groomed animal. When we inquired after our dog, we realized he had not been touched and worse...was in a kennel with no water. Then they lied and said he was getting a bath when we wanted to take him. Said we'll take him wet...they brought him to us bone dry. (They lied again trying to get us to leave him there.) read more
