Ultra-Spective is truly the way to go! We hired Anna to be our photographer for our big day. She was wonderful! From our engagement session, which was included in the package, through the entirety of the wedding, Anna and team were fantastic to work with. They just made taking pictures easy and comfortable. Crissy (maybe misspelling) was Anna's assistant on the day of the weeding. She was instrumental in assisting my wife with her dress, setting up the shots, and organizing the family for the group pictures. Not only are they great to work with, the photos are breath taking. We wouldn't recommend any other photographer more than Ultra-Spective to capture your wedding day. Tip: Ultra-Spective offers a "guest-book", which is a compilation of pictures taken during the engagement session organized in a book with custom prompts such as "give the newly weds advice". I can't say enough nice things about Anna and the crew at ultra-spective! I initially heard about ultra-spective from my sister who had a photo shoot with her critters with photographer Jessie behind the lens. The photos turned out GORGEOUS and so when it came time for my fiancé and I to choose a photographer for our engagement photos, ultra-spective was a natural choice! Anna Vickroy (the owner) ended up shooting our engagement session herself with Jessie assisting and I couldn't be happier with how our photos came out. We started out by the Lake Del Valle reservoir to take some pics by the water and then moved locations to Sycamore Grove to finish the sesh. Blown away! For years, I wanted to do a boudoir photo session, but it's a little scary finding a photographer when you're considering taking your clothes off. Ultra-spective is the epitome of professionalism. From the manager (Crystal), the hair stylist/make up artist (another Crystal), to the photographer (Christina), I did not feel uncomfortable at any point during the entire process. Bought a Groupon for my mom as a gift for some family portraits. Here is the breakdown: Scheduling: They have set days on the weekend that they schedule people who are redeeming Groupons so even though it is on location of your choice, it is a location of your choice among the ones they give you. Which isn't bad because the ones they picked out have good scenery but I just initially felt a little misled when it said on location shoot. As for timing, they try to be as flexible and accomodating as possible so that will make it a little easier for you to pick a date but just keep in mind that weekend appointments are scarce with all the weddings that they do. The shoot: Our photographer was super nice and very helpful in terms of poses and telling us what to do. She gave us good instructions and made everything feel natural, even though it was awkward at times. She was creative with her poses and telling us where and how to stand based on ppl's attire Picture quality: As with any photoshoot, there are a lot of pictures and many of them came out wonderfully. My mom loved them all so we ended up getting the cd with all the original edited jpegs. One thing though, because there are so many pictures, they go through and use their own best judgement to filter out the best ones. However, that is a matter of one's opinion. My mom remembered a pose that we did and we didn't see it on the cd, it turns out they removed it because our photographer didn't think it was nice but that picture turned out to be one of my mom's favorite shot. So just know not everything is on there so you may have to remember which poses and ask for them. Gallery/Viewing: ultra-spective is very professional and treat their clients well. To view our photos, we came out to their gallery and they put us in a nice cozy room with a huge projector screen to view our pictures. One staff was dedicated to spend time with us to go through each and put pictures side by side so we can choose which ones we liked the best. Their gallery itself is also amazing and very well decorated- these people definitely have talent. They put everything together so well. Pricing: This is the hard part to digest. I know any photography session is expensive and you get what you pay for and USP is good at what they do, but even with a groupon, I still ended up spending a lot of money here. I was impressed by the array of photos in the studio and online. I bought a Groupon, so I felt I had nothing to lose by trying out a new place for baby/family pictures. Overall, 3 1/2 stars. Our photographer could have done a better job centering us for our family photo and better utilize the studio props. We basically had two different backdrops, one was a brown curtain, the other black. In the full length shots you can see where the curtain and the ground meet, and it looks cheap. The staff was kind enough to extend our 30 minute session to a full hour. An hour definitely was not long enough with a baby. The biggest difference taking pictures at a studio versus a lifestyle photographer who comes to your home or on location is that the latter usually doesn't have a set time limit..but tries to take the pictures within a reasonable amount of time. The quality of the pictures are not bad. The photo shopping is kept to a minimum, so it doesn't overcompensate for the camera equipment that is used. read more

We took advatange of their Groupon special and I am glad I did. We met the photogs at Sycamore Park for our outdoor photo shoot. The day was picture perfect. I will admit I initially felt like the guy and girl photogs that met us weren't paying as much attention as we would've like them too. Little did I know that this was their tactic. A week or two later, we went in to preview our pics and we were completely blown away. The pics were amazing. Here we were thinking the photogs weren't paying attention when the whole time they were taking these amazing pics when we weren't paying attention. I must say I was really impressed with the pics and the quality of the pics. While waiting, we enjoyed their gallery of pics in the waiting room. We previewed our pics on a giant screen while laying back on a comfy couch.The gals in the studio were nice and helpful in giving us pointers regarding the layout of the pics for our home. This is a really cool place and these people seem to enjoy their jobs and it shows. Ultra-Spective did my company's head shots today and I am so glad we selected to use their services for this. From start to finish, they were super easy to work with, have a great pricing structure, and very helpful with recommendations and ideas. First off I was oblivious to the fact that the photo shoot was outside. No one informed of this. We looked all over for a photo studio and finally had to call them to ask them where we were suppose to be. We got the group on deal as well. Well, the people who took our pictures didn't seem very knowledgeable. We were in awkward poses a few times. They were nice people but we didn't feel like they knew what they were doing. When we were at our photo shoot it was around dusk and it was getting dark. I was very concerned the pictures were going to be bad. So the Livermore location is where they show you the images. We weren't informed of this either until the end. Now Livermore is 1 hour away from us we had to fight traffic to get there and it took us 1.5 hours. The lady that helped us, I don't recall her name was very nice. She gave good recommendations and was very friendly. However, the pictures were very mediocre as I suspected they would be. Some of the pictures our collar was not even straight which ruined a lot of the pictures. The leaves in the back ground was blurred. I didn't like the effect. I am extremely disappointed with the photoshoot and don't even think the $80 we forked out was worth it for the X-mas cards we got. Would not return. read more

For customer service alone...5 stars! We purchased the Groupon for maternity shoot...the price was right UNTIL we got to the photo purchase. Beware, these photos are expensive! But the quality is nice and if you're taking once in a lifetime photos...it might be worth it to you. I don't remember our photographers name, but at the 2 shoots we did they were both pleasant. Nothing amazing as far as personality goes but the overall shoot was comfortable and we didn't feel rushed. We got some really amazing candids of my son and husband that I cherish everyday! We live far and the store isn't open on weekends so that is a downer. But the real review starts and ends with the overall patience and service I received from the manager, Crystal. Crystal really REALLY worked with me! Our budget was tight (we were not expecting the super expensive cost after already buying he Groupon) and she worked with us. We ended up spending a lot more than we planned, but I got everything I wanted and more. She personalized our canvas collage and has made it into a family treasure. If you don't mind spending a little more than typical...you'll get your money's worth. There's such a small window of time to capture these types of precious photos. The Haute Pink boudoir photo session was one of the best photo shoot experiences I've ever had. Ultra-spective helped me schedule the session when I was ready physically and mentally. I love her photos. Anna is great. She did very well with my son who was almost 2 at the time. I think she did a fantastic job. Having said that, she is very pricey. We paid more for this than our wedding pictures. Granted, our wedding pictures are definitely not as high quality in style as Anna's. This is our second time having our family document by ultra and it is always so awesome meeting with the photographers and then choosing the best photos. We just had ultra-spective take our family photos for the second year in a row and are SO happy with our photos. Leah was our photographer both times and did so great accommodating our young and crazy family. We have three young kids under the age of 3 and it is nearly impossible to get everyone to sit still AND smile. Last year we took our photos at Sycamore park and the pictures were gorgeous! We made a couple of photo books for grandparents and have a large framed picture in our hallway. It is a wonderful thing to be able to have such a beautiful picture of our family when everyone was so young (at the time our youngest was not yet 1 and our twins were 2). Even one year later, our kids have changed so much, the picture we have from last year is priceless. In the most recent shoot we did, we chose to take pictures in the alley/mansion area outside of the studio. Our girls were both sick and it was 100+ degrees outside. You wouldn't know it looking at the pictures! Even when it felt like we were suffering with the heat and struggling keeping our young kids together and happy, they did such a great job with the photos capturing the loving moments between our family members. In both cases, we purchased all the images on CD. We always leave the studio after doing our photo viewing liking a nice selection of them, but in both cases as we've gotten to spend more time looking at all the pictures we purchased, we've grown to love them even more! Even the ones that we hadn't thought were our favorites to start with. We are looking forward to coming back here year after year with our family. read more

We got our maternity photos done here after getting a group on for maternity, newborn, 4month, 8 month and 12 month photoshoots for $100, plus $75 in photo credits each time... so pretty good deal. the group on is only for the photographers time and photo shoot, plus $75 towards the prints. Not exactly clear when we bought the group on, but still happy we got everything in the package for $100. ($700 value) We just finished the maternity shoot, and we worked with Derrick (I think his name was Derrick). Derrick was AWESOME. We did have some confusion on where we were supposed to meet, but eventually we found each other (Arroyo Seco was our venue, we ended up a few streets away in some hike/walking path). Derrick was great, made us feel very comfortable, and was super helpful/easy to work with. Couldn't be more happy with the 30 minutes we spent together and how great the photos came out. We went in to the photo review expecting to buy 1 or 2 prints but ended up getting the CD with all the print, a canvas and 2x 8x10". The photos were amazing, and I felt these were very important and special photos. My wife soon agreed too. We weren't pressured to buy more (but this could be because we bought the whole package right away, or they were very laid back saleswomen). Can't wait for the photos to arrive. Ultra-Spective photography (Alyssa) did an amazing job capturing our wedding day. They have been great to work with and gave me nothing to worry about during the planning process. The day of the wedding, Alyssa and her assistant made everyone feel so comfortable and worked so well with getting family together to get pictures taken. My husband and I decided to do a "first look" and I was having some problems picking where to have it, and worried about the heat (we got married on the hottest day of the year yet, 105 degreees!). Ultra-Spective does great wedding photography. Their style is very hip and photo journalistic. They are about story telling as opposed to documenting the wedding. As a photography enthusiast, I am impressed with their photographic eye. We did engagement photos at a place I was very familiar with and it was their first time there. WOW! I first heard of Ultra Spective at (I believe) the downtown wine festival. I was searching for a wedding photographer and stopped by their booth. After looking at their sample albums I instantly knew this was the place for me. My mom and I made an appointment to go over their packages and opted for one that allowed us a free engagement shoot along with our wedding day (we chose to have Anna and her assistant) photography, an album and two smaller "mothers" albums. Anna met with us in person before our shoot to get an idea of who we are (her photojournalism skills, in my opinion, are unmatched in the Livermore area). Our engagement pictures were gorgeous (which got me so excited to see how great our wedding photos would be!) and all of our friends wanted to know who did them. Our wedding photos came out to be perfect. I couldn't have asked for a more friendly and talented person to entrust with making our wedding memories. I do think it's important to comment on how our wedding day went in terms of photography. I've heard horror stories of photographers "stealing the show" and leaving hardly any time for the bride and groom to enjoy their day. Anna did an amazing job! Se is wonderful to work with. She knows a girls challenges and really takes care of them so you don't have to worry about them. I found them on groups and it as been the bet groups I've used so far. The staf here is fabulous and responsive. They deliver excellent customer service and they are yet another reason I will keep coming back. While they might be a little pricey, I fully respect them not undercutting themselves. They are worth every penny. My only and biggest disappointment was with their recommendation to use their neighbor the blowout bar. I did not like what they did with my hair and it ruined my pictures. I am definitely going back here, like I said Anna is AWESOME and so is her staff. Photographer was great, shoot was fun and photos turned out amazing. The viewing scheduled same day as shoot (within about 45 minutes) was great and Crystal was extremely helpful in getting us the best bargain with the use of our coupon for our additional photos. I've never really bothered with professional photography but boy am I glad I found this place. I was gifted the "Forever My Baby" package (I think it's called something else now) and my first session was my maternity shoot. The pics were absolutely stunning! We've been back for several more sessions including newborn, four month, one year and two year. Our latest session was done a couple of weeks ago in Pacifica as a "beach day" Derrick was our photographer (he also did our one year session) and he was absolutely wonderful. I get to view the pictures today and I just know he captured some amazing shots. I also love that have a day dedicated for Santa pictures. We've gone the last two years and plan to go again this year. The sets are BEAUTIFUL and the best part is you get to schedule your time in advance so no waiting in the horrific line at the mall with a cranky, wiggly toddler in tow. I think the only downside is that I wish I lived closer so I didn't have to travel so far, but even then they are worth it!! read more

Once you meet Anna, you will know right away that your are going to be well taken care of. I met Anna through a Business Networking Group, and she asked if she could take pictures of my new baby boy. My wife and I showed up at her studio and had a great time. They worked with our son and made him feel as comfotable as possible for only being a few months old at that time. Since then I have had maternity, newborn, kids, pets, headshots and corporate environment for my employer, and boudoir photo sessions. I purchased the "Baby's 1st Year" Groupon and have just completed the photo sessions (maternity, newborn, 6 month, and 1 year). I was only looking to book a newborn session at the time, but this Groupon made the other sessions basically "free", so I thought, why not? As others have mentioned, Ultra-spective is great! The studio is very nice. The photographers are easy to work with and good with kids. There was a photographer's assistant at each session which I now realize is essential to success (assistant makes the kids look and smile). I am very happy with the products and digital photos that I have purchased through these sessions. I think the prices were very reasonable considering the product quality and time invested by the Ultra-spective staff (mostly purchasing a la carte and with the Groupon). I have some perfect, professional photos of my kids when they were so little that I will always treasure. The downside to choosing Ultra-spective (for me) was the photo selection appointments. I would have loved to have chosen my photos from a website in the privacy of my own home. These purchases are not only expensive (in the neighborhood of $1000 for packages), but I'm probably going to have to look at the prints hanging in my house for the next 20 years. I felt very uncomfortable making these decisions in such a short period of time while sitting with a photographer/sales representative. There is a *huge* push in these sessions to purchase the "package". In my experience, the photog/sales rep was openly *very* disappointed if I purchased a la carte and not a package. A friend purchased bought me a Groupon certificate as a baby shower gift. We did the intial newborn session and that's it. They were friendly and did very well with the baby but there were setbacks. They hardly have any weekend openings and secondly the photo packages are outrageous. You can get better photos and all the digital copies for way less. My recommendation is to look at some free lance photographers. read more

Ultra-spective did an amazing job with our newborn pictures when our second child was born in January 2014. The photographer was patient with our 2 year old and our baby and made them look so adorable in the photos. I started following them on Facebook and saw that they had a fall photo shoot special for $125 for all the photos on CD. I booked them for last week and again, they took amazing photos of my two boys. I would recommend ultra-spective to anyone looking for very professional photos. Ordering products (like canvases and prints) through them is very expensive, so we got the CD and ordered prints and canvases from snapfish. read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about this place and the awesome people who work here. I've now had several sessions with them and have loved all the pictures my family and I received. Sometimes I look at the pictures and get a warm fuzzy feeling because they were able to capture a very special moment in our lives. With my husband also being a photographer, I can appreciate the fine work they created for us. The pictures truly do feel likes little works of art. My family and I live in San Francisco and we've used other photographers in the past and they've been good but not like Ultra-Spective. If I travel all the way to Livermore from SF during a heatwave in two hours of traffic with three cranky kids in tow, it means that I really, really like them enough to go through the effort! I've used Ultra-Spective for corporate photos for my company as well as standard family photo sessions. Both Anna and Crystal are wonderful to work with and Derek, my photographer for many of our sessions, is so very talented. They went out of the way to accommodate me by 1) setting the session time a little later to ensure my husband could make it (he was traveling from SF FiDi) 2) offering to do hair and makeup for me so I wouldn't have to stress out about it 3) picking up a prop that I ordered from a nearby vendor because I couldn't make it in time to pick it up myself, and 4) bringing in their own props to make the setting for the shoot really special Their studio is also amazing. It's air conditioned, cutely decorated and offers refreshments to keep restless kids content. The unveiling of your pictures is like a theatrical event as you get to see them projected on a large screen while you're comfortably sitting on a couch. There are some people who tell me they've never taken family photos and I just don't understand why not when places like this exist. If you're contemplating, don't. Just make an appointment already! read more
