Honestly the work shopping experience I have ever had. My experience with them has been going on for months, but I'll try to keep it as short as possible. I purchased a $1200 49" curved screen back in January. The instructions tell you to set it up in the box, which I did. When I lifted the screen up after assembling the stand, it had what looked like really bad water marks down the front of the screen. I tried to wipe them off, no luck. I then turned the screen on and it became obvious they were cracks. See photos attached. It was after hours so I called them the following day and was told to bring it into any store and they would replace it. It was close to closing time so I confirmed it didn't matter which store as I wouldn't have time to make it back to the store I purchased it from and they assured me 8 Mile Plains had stock and I could take it there. On arrival, they inspected it and told me it would have to be sent away. I told them I needed the monitor for work and this was contrary to what I was told on the phone. Who I assume was the manager, then made some accusational comments about how the screen was damaged and confirmed it would need to be sent away and forced me to sign a piece of paper saying I would have to foot the bill if it was found for inspecting it if I was found to be at fault. I assured them I didn't damage the screen and asked how on earth they would tell that it wasn't damaged in transit and that I had done it. He claimed they had cameras of all the loading points and would review them. Something I highly doubt, and even if, it still doesn't show that it wasn't damaged in the supply chain. It seems like a lot of labour to chew up just to try and prove a customer is wrong. Interesting way to run a business. Fast forward about 8 weeks. I have not received one piece of correspondence other than a email with a 'RA' number after I physically went into a store to find out what was happening as their overseas phone support is useless. I have called weekly and get the same script each time that they will look into it and let me know. Nothing...not one word. When I went into the store I spoke to the manager who was apologetic and said he would follow it up personally as it had been over a month which is against their own returns policy. Still nothing. Two weeks later I go into the store again. After waiting over 20 mins in a line, I get told the same excuses and that someone will look into it and get back to me. I've been told that at least a dozen times now and not once has that been the case. At least your team are consistent, I'll give them that. So now as my entire workplace is being forced to work from home due to the Coronavirus, still no screen, still no answers, and still out of pocket. Even though I shouldn't have to, I would have rather paid my excess and put it through my own insurance than wait 8 weeks. But I can't even do that as I don't even have the monitor to claim. They may be cheaper than elsewhere, but buyer beware! You don't get what you pay for. Just a heap of running around with nothing to show for it except $1200 less in my pocket. Hopefully Umart will see this and maybe the reputational damage might drive them to action as no amount of follow up seems to. Save yourself the frustration and shop elsewhere. Someone only wastes their time with a review like this if they have been forced into it but a sheer lack of competence and a huge amount of frustration.

Purchased a new gaming PC from Umart and was given a used, faulty PC that was a complete nightmare. They did a windows reset on a 12 month old used, faulty PC and sold it to me as new. They then lied and refused to take any responsibility. Thankfully I used Paypal to purchase it and was able to initiate a dispute and provide undeniable evidence of their criminality, or I would have had to take them to court (which I was prepared to do). They are straight up criminals and I would avoid them at all costs. Pay a few dollars more and shop elsewhere to not get scammed. They are an absolute disgrace. read more

Utterly woeful warranty policy if something goes wrong. I am posting this review in the hope I might actually get a meaningful response.... For the poor Umart employees whose job it is to trawl this site hosing down fires my RA number is 273022. Purchased a brand new motherboard, CPU and RAM in July 2024, and within a few months the system started becoming unstable before completely refusing to boot up in March 2025. I narrowed the problem down to one of those three items but couldn't troubleshoot further. 29 March - Took it all in for a diagnosis and possible exchange or refund, and was told they would look into it and it might need to be returned to the manufacturer. I asked for an exchange and was told it had to be assessed first. 1 April - Received an email approving the warranty claim and that motherboard was to be sent to the manufacturer for assessment / repair (3 weeks - No communication) 22 April - I email asking for an update - No response. 24 April - I called them asking for an update - I was told it is with the manufacturer being assessed and they will follow up to get an update from them. I asked about a possible refund or exchange instead of a repair and was told that is not possible. I raised the issue of Australian consumer law, where I believe this would be classed as a major fault and therefore should be entitled to an exchange or refund but was told I was incorrect. I asked to speak to a manager and was told they weren't available but was promised one would call me within the next hour. No call. End of the day I received an email repeating that it is with the manufacturer and that I am not entitled to a refund or exchange. 29 April - I received a system email saying the motherboard has been dispatched to the manufacturer, for assessment and repair, 31 days after it was returned to the store. 3 May - I sent another email asking for clarification on when the motherboard was shipped to the manufacturer and contact details or repair number so I could get an update directly from them. 4 May - I received a response saying someone is looking into it and they will get back to me. No further response. 10 May - as of writing, still no response. Having read through a number of reviews - there seems to be a striking similarity from anyone who has had the misfortune to return a product under warranty. I'm no lawyer, but If something entirely stops working within the first year, I'm pretty sure that would be classed as a major fault. That places the responsibility on the retailer - i.e. umart to offer a replacement or a refund. Not to fob us off onto the manufacturer and say it's out of their hands. To anyone who has read this far thank you, I am lodging a complaint with NSW fair trading and would encourage anyone with a similar experience to do the same. read more

WARNING: UNCONSCIONABLE WARRANTY FRAUD. Forced Legal Action (And Lost) but Still Refused to Pay. I cannot stress this enough: STAY FAR AWAY FROM UMART. If you value your time, your money, or the peace of mind that comes with an actual product warranty, shop elsewhere. This is not merely a complaint about a faulty product; this is an account of gross corporate misconduct, fraudulent warranty rejection, and contempt for the judicial system. The Broken Promise: A Warranty Refused I purchased a product that failed while still covered under the manufacturer's warranty. The item was returned to UMART in its original, meticulously kept packaging, complete with all accessories. The response from their warranty department was immediate and deceitful: they unilaterally and falsely deemed the damage "intentional." This is a bold-faced lie. I take exceptional care of all my products. They provided absolutely zero credible evidence to back up this claim, which was clearly an attempt to avoid their legal obligations. The Stonewalling I attempted to escalate this matter to management, as any reasonable customer would. I was repeatedly stonewalled and met with obstructive employees who showed total disregard for my consumer rights. UMART's internal structure seems designed to prevent customers from speaking to anyone capable of resolving a legitimate dispute. My item remained stuck in this warranty black hole while UMART refused to take responsibility. The Court Battle and the Smoking Gun Left with no other choice to recoup my loss, I was forced to take UMART to court. The court found entirely in my favour, affirming that UMart was liable for the faulty product and ordering them to remedy the situation (repair or replace). It was during this legal process that I uncovered the most shocking piece of evidence: UMART HAD ALREADY REPAIRED THE ITEM. This proves two things: The damage was repairable and, therefore, not catastrophic "intentional" destruction. UMART wasted months claiming the product was intentionally broken while actively working on it or having it repaired. Final Act of Contempt The court recommended that UMART pay for my incurred court fees, given the necessity of legal action due to their obstinance. What was UMART'Sresponse to the court judgment? They rejected the recommendation and insisted they were "not in the wrong," demanding that I pay for my own court fees despite their loss. This retailer is not only dishonest in their warranty process but actively shows contempt for consumer law and the courts when held accountable. They will lie, obstruct, and force you into expensive legal processes just to avoid honoring their basic duties. UMART WILL NOT UPHOLD YOUR WARRANTY. THEY WILL ACCUSE YOU OF FRAUD. THEY WILL FORCE YOU TO SUE THEM. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. read more

I made a purchase online for $2,999 for a new graphics card. When I placed the order the website gave a generic error message and indicated that my order was cancelled. I checked my online account and indeed it showed a cancelled order. I saw that a pending transaction on my credit card was made for that same amount. The Umart website indicated that if an order does not go through this transaction should disappear after a couple of days. However a few days later (while I am still without the product I purchased) the transaction is no longer pending but instead the money has been taken out of my account. I contacted Umart multiple times but each time they allege to have not charged me anything. They didn't seem to put any effort into investigating - I guess spending thousands of dollars isn't worthy of customer service from them. So I have had to raise a chargeback with my bank, which means I am wasting even more time getting back my money, and it means I cannot buy what I want until it goes through (who knows how long that will take). read more

I have a custom desktop PC from Umart and it shut down and stopped working. Still under warranty so I took it back to the store. Motherboard is the issue and they told me it would take a month. Almost 2 months later I can't get an answer on when it will be fixed. I call Support and they tell me nothing except someone will get to me in a week with more information (have done this multiple times). The update I got this morning (a week after I contacted them) was to tell me they had no further information!! I am a small business and rely on this computer. Just not acceptable! On a side note, when I took it back to the store, the person behind the counter straight away asked me if it was my son's computer?!! I'm a middle aged woman, so obviously it couldn't be mine (it is)?!! Then when I told him I couldn't boot it up and it gave a particular error message, he asked me if this problem had existed since I first got the computer (2 years earlier)?! Yes I have been sitting with a non working computer for 2 years. I mean what incompetence!! read more

Spent $2000 on CNC and parts. Parts arrived but CNC never did. Called star track and they said lost in transit. Umart are still playing games and telling me they are waiting to hear from star track. Now I have parts for a CNC I don't have. They won't take back the parts and won't refund me for the CNC I didn't get. read more

The phone number for Umart is 07 3369 3928 - they seem to keep it buried very deep in their "Help" articles and took me a while to find it. I have lodged a complaint with Fair Trading as Umart are just fobbing me off to the manufacturer (Samsung) for the second warranty claim, despite acknowledging there is a subsequent minor fault (therefore major fault) caused by manufacturer when repairing the initial warranty claim and Umart do not seem prepared to offer a refund or replacement. ________________________________________ Customer service seems non-existent and lacks a human element. I have previously purchased two Samsung monitors from this store, one was a few years ago and one was last year. Both times the monitors have had to be returned for warranty. The monitor I purchased last year was returned from warranty with a new issue. The monitor has now had to be returned for second warranty claim immediately after receiving it back from the first claim. Under consumer laws this is considered a major fault, which also includes if the product has two or more minor failures, and I would not have bought the product if I knew the nature and extent of these failures (this is defined in consumer protection laws in Australia). Generally, for purchases with major failures, the consumer may reject the goods and request a refund or an identical replacement. Your store person has confirmed that the button is physically defective (can't switch up or right, ie not an electrical issue) and that there is no physical damage to the product. I have been told they will need to send the monitor back for assessment at Samsung. Retailers are not entitled to continuously fob the customers off to the manufacturers (I understand this process is necessary for an initial return, however, as the item was returned from warranty faulty, circumstances are shifting the onus towards the retailer in this situation). (https://www.choice.com.au/shopping/consumer-rights-and-advice/your-rights) When asked if I can call to speak to someone in the warranty team regarding this matter (or have them call me) they have said that is not an option. read more

I would give this a zero if i could. I bought a monitor from these guys, click and collect. I drove home and the monitor was secured and everything. No damage to the box. Then i went home an opened it and there was a huge crack on the screen. Now obviously, they had given me a faulty product, and i never broke anything at all. So i went to the shop again the next morning and they refused to give any sort of refund as it is they said It was my fault for breaking it, even though they gave me a faulty product. Obviously I was very agitated, as i opened my box to a faulty product, and they come blaming me, saying I broke it and that it is for warranty to decide. Then their employee terry starts THREATENING to call the police and tells me to leave HIS store, which is absolutely crazy as I have every right to be angry in this situation, where I feel scammed by such a large Franchise of Umart, where they take advantage of their customers. Absolute crap. Never buy from these guys every again. The worst customer service experience I have ever seen from such an established shop read more

August 2021. Ah Umart. Short version: cheap parts, little service. Buy here where you know what you need. Along with MSY they're generally the cheapest for PC parts in Brisbane. But that means low service, even though they're trying harder than they used to. If you know what you need, order it online via them and then go collect when they email to say it's ready. You arrive, enter your order number and wait to be called. There is a bit of stuff on display to have a look at but they won't actually accept an order/sale there in the shop. Just be aware that the low prices are the result of a rigid system. If you don't know what you need, do some online homework! There are endless up-to-date reviews and comparisons available. On youtube, the Australia Hardware Unboxed channel does local reviews of all the major components and Jarrods Tech You should never wander into any sales environment with no clue. If you want to ensure something like a laptop will suit your hands/eyes/whatever, accept that it costs a little extra to try one in a shop and compare it to other similar ones. read more
Who do you call? Ghostbusters. Where do you go to buy your computer stuff? Umart. If you have no idea where to go when your computer flips you the bird, it's most likely you flip open the yellow pages. If you know some stuff about computers, namely a little bit about what you're using, like it has a screen and a keyboard, maybe even the on/off button for your computer and it breaks down on you, you are likely to head off to your local computer store. Chances are you've been there before. If you are a certified geek, you go to Umart Online. You get the cheapest prices for most of your computer parts, which makes it convenient if you know if one component is broken and you know how to put it in and take it out. Also good to look for mouses (not live ones people) and keyboards and simple things like that, their online site is built and designed to look complex, something only their target market would find attractive to surf. Very techy. The Umart premise is that you order online and go pick it up from a physical store. They also can deliver to you for an extra fee. Umart in Milton is a pretty busy pick up point, it's a tiny office with 1 counter and a few seats. Not pretty in any way, but very efficient. They've been around for ages, and if you know anyone slightly in the know of the IT realm, they will tell you to go there for your cheap parts, or be ripped off anywhere else. So the next time you're computer is looking a bit blue, Umart may be your place to fix it. Word of advice, bring a geek friend. read more

While the prices are competitive, unfortunately the service which followed, wasn't. We bought a laptop and after five days, during which payment was deducted from our card, there was no email to say it was ready for collection. Upon enquiry, the issue was apparently OUR fault, because we hadn't provided details (which they already had) for the extended warranty. Somehow we were supposed to supply the serial number without having ever seen or taken possession of the laptop!!! When this faulty logic was pointed out, we were then told the laptop was ready for collection, after 5.30pm when they had already closed. So it looks like a special trip in on the weekend. read more

Poor form from start to finish. Used to be so simple, jump online, find item, check stock availability, says instock, order estimate 1-2hrs so you place the order, drive in and usually by the time you get there the order is only maximum 30mins away... I think only the smaller branches still do this because they understand how dumb and anticonsumer the new method is which I list below... Now: jump online, find item, check stock availability, says instock, order estimate 1-2hrs (see picture). 2hr mark and still the order is not ready, so you walk in and check for status of the order and now they say: "stock is not kept at Milton, we send it over from Mansfield store, so it's on a truck." If you're anything like me, you're kind of upset because you've just come from a jobsite where you found a faulty bit of equipment you need to replace so the only place within 15kms of the CBD is Umart but you've wasted 2hrs waiting for something that was never going to be within the 1-2hrs advertised. This is absolutely disgraceful. The website - your website - with a stock indicator says INSTOCK at the particular store, but then your staff say it's not there, so... NO... It's NOT "INSTOCK". Plain false information, advertising and misguiding to your customers, especially when your business model entices click & collect (see picture). Gone are the good days of Umart where you could place and order and head in to the store and by the time you got there your order was ready, heck even the old, old days you could head in and staff would help you or you could browse on the provided PC's. Umart needs to stop trying to incorporate 21st century business practices with rudimentary old practices that still hold them back. The staff clearly hate their job too, when they snap answers at each other: Employee 1: "Hey has the truck come yet?" Employee 2: "No." sharply and sighs almost angrily. The poor maybe 18-20yr old is getting subliminally spoken to like he has 0 worth all because the practices in place breed bad culture. The "overhall" that's been taking place in the last 5yrs is hurting Umart's brand. I only wish the original business owner saw what was happening to this once pinacle of click & collect. read more

I am disgusted and appalled with the level of lies and manipulation by this so called Business. They sold me parts to build a computer but not all parts where there even after asking them a number of times if I had everything. I also asked a number of times if this gaming computer will do what I want and work well, they said yes but after purchasing they emailed Umart.com.au and said below and I quote. (Make sure the customer realizes that this is definitely a low/minimum spec PC, it's not going to perform quickly at all. It will be slow to boot, slow to load certain programs, and they will not be able to have a lot of tabs open on their browser/programs open on their PC before they notice a performance dip) Complete and utter lies to get you in and take your hard earned money. They have lied their way through this whole matter. They said I could even bring everything back even said, with as much of the original packaging, as I did. But lied about that because when I returned it all, they refused to refund me. Instead the young and inexperienced lads behind the desk had a hissy fit and told me to leave the store. Absolutely disgusting Business practice. I have now reported this matter to a Lawyer and also reported them to QCAT and the Department of fair trading. I will use every social media outlet to make sure other people don't get ripped off by them and ask if anyone else has had similar issues to get in touch with me. I will do everything I can to make sure that they pay for ripping me off. read more

I ordered a new CPU, 2 sets of 16GB DDR4 RAM and an Asus x-570-E motherboard on the 19th of August 2020. The Australia Post parcel arrived at my door on the 24th, not too bad, I guess. However, the motherboard was not included in the parcel! I immediately sent an email to support and also gave Umart a phone call. I was assured that someone will get back to me soon. They never did. On the 25th I made another 2 phone calls to support just to be greeted with the same response each time - assuring me that someone is looking into it and that they will get back to me soon. Nobody came back to me. On the 26th I sent another email to support. Still no reply. The first time anyone cared to reply back to my emails was on the 27th, again just to let me know that someone is looking into it. I sent another email on the 31st to try find out what the status is. No reply. Another phone call on the 1st and this time I asked to speak with someone higher up but I was promptly informed that Umart management is not reachable by phone. At all. Ever. So here we are. A nightmare of a week and I still have no idea what the outcome will be and when I'll receive my motherboard (if ever). I don't have the money lying around to just buy another motherboard from somewhere else so I'm stuck - unable to complete my new PC. Be very very careful when dealing with these guys. read more

Have to give Umart one star, used them for years and they've been good but this is just shocking. Ordered my custom PC and paid deposit by 29.11.2018. Changed some of the parts because apparently some weren't in stock (even though it said they were on the website). It's been 25 days since I paid a deposit and no PC built LOL. I get different stories from Umart's overseas call centre "your items are out of stock, we need to ship these interstate express blah", while others say the order "hasn't been stocked out from the warehouse, but Milton does have it". How f* long does it take to get the items from the warehouse? It's been 17 days since they were all in stock. I understand holiday backlog but it's a bit ridiculous. I've got in contact with Milton store directly and they said "it's a priority and it will be done soon", that was a week ago. Some of the overseas call centre staff don't even bother to get back to me when I ask them to chase the order up. It's actually hilarious but sad at the same time. Screw this company, honestly. They should be paying their techs to do overtime on the weekend to get rid of backlogs. I'm disgusted with this service. Umart, you make me sick. read more

Charged $150 for trying to replace a defective product that was under warranty. Said it would take a few days but they kept the machine for nearly two months. Left me waiting indefinitely - was forced to pay an additional $100 for a more expensive component because the replacement part wasn't in stock. Needed my pc back so caved in and paid the extra cost again. This was on top of the original cost of an independent technician who diagnosed the hardware fault before I tried claiming the warranty. Let's put it in perspective. U-Mart is not targeting people that'd go to Harvey Norman. If you can build your own PC, then U-Mart is great. If your skill set is way below that, then you're in trouble. Here's the problem - U-Mart is cheap. Super cheap. It's a great place to pick up odds and ends for the home PC. The problem is that their customer service is, well, almost non-existent. They aren't as bad as, say, Gamedude (located South of Brisbane) but it's not their strong point. I've purchased a number of items from U-Mart and I've never had any problems, but if a competitor came in that had staff more willing to assist, U-Mart would be in trouble. Make sure you know your shit before coming to Umart - it ain't for beginners. read more

Let me start by saying I'm a nerd. Until now only a few people knew that so you should feel privileged. I have been buying computer parts and accessories from Umart for years and this place has everything you could possibly want all under one roof. There was a time when the service here was very limited, the sales reps and techies communicated with little more than industry jargon and it was often a challenge to resolve any issues you may have had with your order - Luckily for all the not so tech savvy folk out there, time has served Umart well and these days are a thing of the past. On the second level of the building there are a team of well spoken, personable, non-robot people who are more than willing to assist you in buying or upgrading your computer. Next door you will find the service department which offers efficient repairs of almost anything pc related that you can think of at very reasonable prices. Ordering is a breeze, you find what you want online, record the order number, take it into the ground floor lobby, enter it in the computer in the corner and sit comfortably in the air-conditioning until someone calls out your name. Last time I purchased some parts from Umart the whole process took me less than half an hour from online ordering to collection - its just plain easy. read more

If computers and computer parts are your thing, it's not hard to put together a good system for under $500. I used a build your pc guide from tomshardware.com to see what has changed in the past 20 or so years. I have used Umart for about 5 years, and found everything I needed. Ordering is via online and you get around 20% reduction of the sale price. They send my a txt or email telling you its ready, you go down to their warehouse and enter in your code, wait 5 or so minutes and pickup and pay. They charge you extra for credit cards, so I pay via EFTPOS. you can also pay via bpay, but I've never used it. read more
I like to shop around for the best price, and with computer gear, Umart always came out on top. It's my go to place for anything computer related. It's important you know what you actually want. This is not a place for advice, although they do appear to have a sales team now. Here's how it works. Order online (they encourage you by making it a little cheaper). Rock up at the store (there is on site parking) and punch your code into the machine. So make sure you have access to your email or write it down. Wait. They'll get to you eventually, but there's a high turnover and if you rock up around lunch time you can expect to wait a while. If you can try to avoid these peak periods. I love that I can get just what I want without having to worry about sales pitches and any dramas with staff. The one time I had to return a hdd under warranty it was quick and easy with no dramas. read more

Great prices, absolutely abysmal service. They incorrectly posted my Mobo to Mackay instead of Toowoomba, that's something like 800klm too far north. Over a week later and it's still in Mackay. Getting help from their call center is like pulling teeth. read more

It has been a nightmare dealing with this company. Never again. Their support for lost deliveries is pitiful. I can't say non-existent because I did get replies just not a reply that related to the questions asked. Go figure. They provided me with a non-existent tracking number for a courier it turns out, that they didn't even use. It took a month to resolve and find my goods. We paid the extra for next day delivery. Even when you call them, they say that it's not their problem, call the courier. Well, I would but no-one can provide a valid docket number. Tried to start a process for a refund. Nope. When you're a small business, this kind of service is disgusting. Never again and I humbly suggest you look somewhere else. read more

Bought items from U Mart Southport on a number of occasions over the years. 40 minute drive to and from U Mart Southport this morning to buy a HDD shown as In Stock at that store. On arrival confirmed the item is in stock but the store is now only a delivery warehouse for on line orders. I can't buy it as they have no cash or credit card acceptance facilities. Unbelievable, item available but can't be bought. Left without the item I wanted and U Mart lost a sale and a customer. read more

I spend quite a lot of money with these guys($10k in 12 months), mainly pricing. Definitely not the service and after today's visit, they have lost my business. Bought 4 brand new graphics cards. I didn't install them till about a week after I got them. One was bad. So by time I got back to store they informed me sorry but it's off to the manufacturer for 2-4 weeks. WTF?! Other stores would do a quick test to determine its faulty and swap it with another one , simple right?! If you buy something from these guys and it's expensive, hope it works , otherwise the money you shelled out to have an item now ,you won't get for maybe a month. Hope it's not something critical to your PC,laptop or network otherwise your home or business is gonna be out of action till they get around to doing an RMA for you. Very sad effort people! read more

Placed order took money instantly Promised dispatch within 24hrs. Rang and checked parcel was dispatched next day as paid for express delivery. Was told parcel was sent on Friday afternoon and would receive a tracking number soon. No tracking number came. Emailed support several times for clarification, no replies by Monday lunchtime. Rang business to be told parcel was leaving that afternoon. Cancelled order and was told would receive refund that instantly. No refund forthcoming. Rang back and told refunds take 24hrs, asked them to double check then told then to recheck and give me a ETA. Was told 24-48 hours. Spoke to "Manager" Arthur to try and expedite refund as I need the funds to get the equipment elsewhere. Seems customer service is not a major priority and now my schedule has been knocked back a week. Dealt with "Melbert" "Dave" "Arthur" all who either told blatant lies or are not that good at their job. I'm banking on the former. Deal with at your own risk. read more

Been buying from Umart for a few years. Usually great products and quick service but when something goes wrong they can be a little rude. Our new computer we bought had a defect which kept shutting it down randomly, and we brought it back we were sent away. Eventually when we came back to show that it wasn't working and convinced them to fix it for us. Works well now, but really took some convincing for them to fix our new pc. read more

*HIGHLY NOT RECOMMEND THIS STORE* I have never been treated with such RUDENESS and DISRESPECT before in my life. I had purchased a faulty monitor that would turn on by itself when plugged into power socket at the wall. As it had only been a week since I had purchased it, I thought that I'd go ahead and return it to hopefully get it replaced. I packaged it up with the receipt and took it into the store, ONLY to have an employee named Charlene who was serving me, try to convince me that it WASN'T a hardware issue. She tried to convince me that all monitors automatically turn on when you plug them into the power socket without pressing the power switch button on the monitor itself. She tried to blatantly LIE and DECEIVE me, using an example of her monitors, "turning on as well" in front of me by unplugging and plugging them back into the power socket at the wall. She had not turned them off with the power button on the monitor BEFORE unplugging them at the wall ~ so OF COURSE THEY'RE GOING TO TURN ON WHEN YOU PLUG THEM BACK IN! CHRIST! I called her out on it in which she tried to use the excuse "it's because they're old monitors". At this stage I had had enough, I was being lied to and not getting any proper help. I spoke to another employee who called the manager. Grant, who is the manager of this store came out and the first thing he said to me was "We can not replace the monitor for you" in a very abrupt and rude demeaner. He proceeded to support the claim of the woman who was blatantly trying to lie to me and even refused to come take a look at the monitor himself. He kept going on and on about how I was wrong and that if I want to get a replacement that I would have to pay an extra 20% because I had opened it from it's packaging and that they'd have to sell the one I'm returning to another customer at a lower price. Mate, YOU DONT RESELL FAULTY HARDWARE ~ PERIOD! He even had the audacity to say "I have had many monitors. How many have you had?". He then said that the only thing we could do is leave the monitor with the tech team, in which they can diagnose and see if there are any faults, and ONLY IF "they" can identify any faults, will they replace it, which would take 4 weeks. And according to him and others, the monitor turning on by itself when plugged in is NORMAL. Nope, not impressed at all. This was a first for me, as I had never been met with such atrocious and rude customer service before. I had previously been a loyal returning customer of this store and after the way they treated me, I will never step within 20 yards of this place ever again. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS STORE TO ANYONE! After the way they treated me and left me feeling, I will tell all my friends and family to avoid this store. ~No show of professionalism nor proper customer care! New store management is needed because the current management will surely run the store to the ground. BIG DISLIKE. It's a shame people like this are given their positions~ read more

While I was completing my animation degree, not a month went by without ordering something from U-mart. At first, I tried to shop around for the cheapest prices but I quickly worked out I could save myself a lot of time by just directly ordering from U-mart. I've never found any cheaper prices for replacement computer parts, hard drives, sound cards or any computer-related accessories. You should get use to their ordering system so there's no confusion at the time of pick-up. Once you order online, you'll receive an email with your order number. Bring the order number with you to pick it up from the shop. It takes a lot longer for the shop assistant to track your order without the order number. They don't have a lot of staff working on site in order to keep the costs down. The U-mart shop basically acts as an end-of-line storage space. It's not meant to be a regular computer shop where you can browse for products and expect staff to give advice on what products. Also, it's cheaper to pay cash or Eftpos when you pick up the product. read more

Would give 0 stars if I could. Where do I begin. 18 months ago ordered and build a $3600 pc and right off the bat just terrible experience. When my pc was finally ready to collect I got home to find the os was corrupted or installed incorrectly. So thats proof they didn't do any testing before handing it over to me. I had missing screws in usb ports so couldn't plug anything into them. Tried to take it back and they slapped me with the standard 3-7 business days and I left it with them came back 24 hours later and pc was still on the glass cabinet I left it on. So I took it home and fixed the os myself. 12 months later psu failed took back for warranty and they took 7 days and came back with missing feet which they still haven't replaced. 4 months into the new psu (even upgraded power) same fault so I told them to do testing on the entire pc and they have just left me in the dark dropped pc off on 29th December 2020 and haven't gotten an email or update other than they created a warranty for my graphics card ( no phonecall to say out of stock or other options) I've tried calling umart 3 times and all 3 times I've been told by their call centre they wil l contact the technician and get back to me when they hear but never do. They all apologise for matter but nobody ever seems to do any actions to actually get any information about my pc. All I can do is guess that they don't want to replace my gpu and are pushing for the manufacturer to repair it. I would avoid umart like the plague it seems they just don't give a shit.. Computer alliance is definitely the better choice! read more

These guys are crooks. I've easily bought over 100K worth of stuff from them over the years. My work requires results ASAP. Often times they are the only place that has what I want in stock. I hate that I have to deal with them. A former salesman told me they knowingly buy used merchandise in asia and resell it on the Australian market. In this case he was talking about hard drives. I can't count the number of times they have sold me obviously used merchandise, mislabelled merchandise, falsely advertised, ripped me off with restocking fees on obviously faulty merchandise, and have outright stolen money from me. Their entire strategy revolves around trying to make it as easy as possible for people to give them money, and as difficult as possible to get it back in the event of faulty merchandise. read more

I'm writing this review from the computer put together using Umart parts. I tried buying a ready made brand name computer but none of them had all exact parts I wanted. Umart provided all that I wanted and at a much lower cost than the brand names. I got it posted to me for $16 which is less than the price I would have paid in petrol to pick it up. I ordered mid morning and Umart had it perfectly packaged and ready for the courier by mid afternoon. An outstanding business. read more

Since the store has outsourced their support and systems overseas there has been constant issues with delayed, missing and incorrect orders. It is a better experience to shop elsewhere. read more
