When I bought hearing aids this year, I signed to pay $2,000, but when I got to the desk, the woman insisted they were $2,200 and tried to scare me into paying an extra $200, until I showed her the paperwork. And when I had my hearing exam, the audiologist kept tugging my ears in a way that hurt. I asked her to stop several times, but she wouldn't. I figured this is simply something you have to put up with there to get hearing aids. But I wouldn't suggest leaving a child or vulnerable elderly person alone with them. Particularly not a vulnerable elderly person with a credit card. Unfortunately my mom is also a patient, so I'm going to have to take off work to sit with her when she goes in because I do not trust these people. Right now, I'd just like to get my medical records. I've been asking for them for a month now.

Dr. Loomis spent a full hour with me during my first visit (the initial visit being a video call according to their pandemic procedures), more than the allotted 45 minutes! (Maybe it's because I already knew him from his public appearances and had a lot to chat with him about, as well as a lot of health questions.) He definitely knows a lot about nutrition (this being a specialty of Barnard Medical Center), but is knowledgeable about medical issues all around as well. He helped diagnose a significant vitamin D deficiency in me and prescribed a supplement. He also referred me to specialists for other issues. My second visit was an in-person physical exam, and again, he went above and beyond the typical standard for physicals. I'm so lucky to live in the DC area!

In the meantime, they instructed me to go to Urgent Care or the ER! Several other times, owing to minor issues such as ear infections and conjunctivitis, they insisted I do a Telehealth appointment or otherwise, go to Urgent Care or the ER. Further, annual physicals have not been comprehensive. Moreover, for my first physical with Barnard Medical, they assigned a medical student to conduct it, in its entirety (w/o any other doctors present). In addition, this was despite the fact that I had requested, in writing in my medical records, that I did not agree to be seen by medical students. It appears as if the doctors rarely even come into the office! The lovely Nurse Practitioner, Kristine, is the gem that seems to hold the office together! She shows both care and concern, and although there is a lag time to see her, too, at least you can get an appointment with her in person (eventually).

When I contacted the office on 11/30 to inquire about the logistics for the appointment, it would no longer work. I was offered another appointment on January 5. Again, I received no confirmation and no telehealth link. I emailed and called the office on January 5 and have yet to receive communication from them. Needless to say, my January 5 appointment did not happen. So, what should have been a simple refresher session has turned into three months of me trying to secure an appointment. Additionally, all communication has been via email since no one ever answers the office phone or returns calls. I am very disappointed in my current experience with this office. It should not be this much of a process to get an appointment, particularly as an established patient. I am not sure what has happened in the past year, but things clearly went downhill quickly. If you have other options for providers, you should pursue them first. Update: It's is now 1/16 and I have heard nothing from the office about the fact that they blew off my appointment. No response to my emails or voice mails. So, they clearly are not concerned about their patients.

When we lived in San Francisco, my son had no words at 24 months and I tried multiple therapists before settling down with a really amazing one (Jodi at Spencer & Kong). Unfortunately we had to move only 6 months into his therapy, and luckily I found Jullian Luks at National Speech. Jillian has the best upbeat and happy energy, funny with good sense of humor, nurturing and sweet, and always professional. She is amazing at what she does, even with my shy and reticent son. The other therapists there also appear to be very good, and all the parents I've spoken to in the waiting room are very pleased with their experience there. My son now no longer needs therapy, and everyone is surprised when they find that he needed it. As for the negative review about the front desk, it's true, the young man at the front desk is not proactive about greeting anyone, but he is also a little awkward and soft spoken - not rude or snobby. The waiting room and front desk is also pretty busy - lots of families and therapists coming in and out. And everyone is different, but for me, I don't care if the front desk admin didn't greet me or look me in the eye - it's all about the quality of therapy that my kid is getting, and at National Speech, it was the best.

Do not go here…read more.. After being referred to her 2 years ago, I went to see Dr. Pong because my regular neurologist retired from her practice. I was sent home with a 72-hour EEG and told the results stated all my brainwaves were normal; therefore I did not have epilepsy. Doctor Pong then diagnosed me with NES (psychogenic seizures) and referred me to a psychiatrist. She also took me off of the anti-seizure medications I was on. At this time this did not make exact sense because my previous neurologist had diagnosed me with epilepsy based on my symptoms, even though we had not caught the irregular brain waves on an EEG prior. Dr. Pong was very kind and well-mannered, explaining why this diagnosis might fit me. I ended up accepting this diagnosis because some of what she said made sense, although I continued to have seizures which disturbed my life and work. Fast forward to late last year, I had an appointment again at Mid Atlantic, now with Dr. Ramos, to discuss options because the seizures were still disturbing my life, even with therapy and psychiatric help. Do not see Dr. Ramos if you are a woman potentially with NES or epilepsy. I do not believe he is incompetent but he was biased in his approach and did not even explore the possibility there was still something underlying causing these seizures. We were seen, and he said, "You're so brave for coming in to see us." In an attempt to potentially be understanding or kind or whatever reasoning, what he said came off as incredibly condescending. What the hell do I have to brave for? He should have done more investigating to help me. I was still having seizures from multiple times a month to about every month... For the last 2 years. He offered more psychiatric referrals and said there was nothing more we could do. Well, recently I went to another neurologist who finally did a 72-hour EEG with determination to help me figure things out and found the epileptic activity on this EEG to explain my seizures. The entire time from 2 years ago until now I could have been seizure-free while on medication and not missing work, school, and life.

This place fit both criteria. When I called to book an appointment, they told me the next appointment with a sleep doctor was months out - after checking again, they were able to give me an appointment about 3 weeks out. I've had a sleep study done before, and had my results of the sleep study forwarded to this office well in advance of my appointment (I even called to confirm they had received them). Despite this, they decided another at-home sleep study was necessary. The at-home sleep study provided no new information that the previous sleep study provided. If I hadn't already hit my out of pocket max on my insurance, that would have been a significant out of pocket expense. My suspicions are that the main motivation for the at-home sleep study was $$$. I then saw Dr. Klein, who diagnosed my sleep problems as staying asleep as opposed to falling asleep. He prescribed me a medication which was supposed to help me stay asleep. This did nothing for my problems falling asleep and my insomnia continued. Fast forward 2 months later and I'm back in front of Dr. Klein. He prescribes me another medication; this one is supposed to help me fall asleep. When Dr. Klein prescribed this medication, I specifically asked him if weight gain was a potential side effect and he emphatically answered no. I checked with my normal psychiatrist as well as WebMD who both confirmed weight gain was a frequent side effect with this medication. This says to me that Dr. Klein was either lying to me or grossly incompetent. Either way, I'm never coming back to this practice again.

My son is a competitive swimmer who has Ehlers Danlos. As a former athlete with EDS, Arona knows exactly how to treat this. My son felt understood for the first time in his life after meeting with Arona. From the exercises, dry needling, massage and extensive education about his condition, everything about his treatment plan has been truly excellent. My son suffered a fractured vertebra this year and once again, Arona was there to explain exactly what he needed to do to fully recover. Arona was invaluable in keeping my son optimistic about his recovery and guiding him on exactly what he needed to do. My son is excited to see Arona and to follow his treatment plan because he says, "Arona has been through a lot with me and has always been right."
