I liked my PTs but I was charged twice for "same day cancellations". I'm not sure what they want me to do when I wake up with a severe migraine with vomiting and another time the flu!!!! Very nice, knowledgeable and courteous staff. Attention to clients and time management is where this business needs improvement. Staff allow way too much time between exercises. With an appointment that is scheduled an hour, I need my sessions to be much more productive. I've found myself sitting around waiting for a staff members to reluctantly leave the water cooler area. This is where staff casually chit chat with each other. This has occurred at my previous two sessions. Today I got on the spin bike at 5:02 and was instructed to ride for 10 minutes. At 5:12, I got off the bike and waited until 5:23, no one came over or said anything to me.Bear in mind, the facility was not crowded. In my previous visits, there never seems to be a sense of urgency to monitor clients while they are completing independent exercises. If you are considering using this company, I strongly recommend that you go to the facility and observe the patient and therapist interaction before beginning a treatment plan! read more

I've been to many other physical therapists over the years, and two years ago decided to give this organization a try. I have worked with two great Physical Therapists and two great Occupational Therapists. OT's were Roxy and Jorge (George) and the PT's are Dr. Calvin Baxter and Suki. Suki is the one I am currently working with. I am a difficult case in the sense I have a ton of stuff going on (had several surgeries over the last 6 years and not the best help until I found these folks). What I love about this group is that they are constantly learning. I need a PT with dry needling experience. Dr. Baxter and Suki have that. Also what I love is that the PT's spend time with you. Once the Tech's take over, the PT's are available should a problem arise or if there are a questions. The Tech's are great as well. They guide us and assist us to make sure we are doing the exercises correctly. They are a great support as well. They listen and help according to whatever the need is. Lastly, White Oak Physical Therapy is a community therapy office that treats me like a private practice. By the way, I have been coming for the last two months (during the Covid-10 Pandemic). The Owner has created an extremely safe place for his staff and clients. The entire staff wear masks. The physical therapists wear scrubs, face masks and face shields. Temperatures are taken as soon as you walk in the door. Sanitizer is available. All equipment and machines are sanitized after each and every use. It is definately a safe haven for those that wish to return and those that need a place to get receive rehabilitation help. read more

Broken wrist, hand, or finger? Jorge G. is the best kept secret in the Washington DC area, when it comes to hand rehabilitation and physical therapy. I broke the radius bone close to my wrist several months ago and the Doctor needed to secure a plate to the bone so that it would heal correctly. After the surgery, I had maybe 20% of the motion that I used to. The stiffness was caused by the swelling of the tissue and tendons that occurred after the surgery. My insurance assigned me to a different physical therapist who had limited knowledge about hand rehabilitation. After about ten visits with the 1st physical therapist, there was some improvement but not a lot. I decided to take my therapy into my own hand ( so to speak) and I did some research and found White Oak Physical Therapy. The therapy that Jorge provides is incredible, and something that I had never experienced before with the other 2 physical therapists that I saw. Now I can actually see tremendous improvement with the movement of my wrist. He got most of the movement back, but I still have more work to do. I love these folks. The therapists and techs helped me recover from surgery after five broken bones from a fall. I started in September with a lot of limitations and a goal to make a Christmas cruise I had already paid for. I went on the cruise and was able to walk the cobblestone streets of Croatia with little difficulty. I think that illustrates how much White Oak physical therapy helped me. Great physical therapist and assistants. The entire staff is professional, attentive, kind and caring. The office is super clean. I witnessed on many occasions the pillow cases immediately changed as the beds are being disinfected. The PT is very knowledgeable, took his time to explain my issue and really target the affected area. He never made me feel like he was rushing and took the time to make sure I was comfortable. My sessions usually last a little over two hours. The assistants are very thorough and explain the exercises step by step. I highly recommend anyone in need of a physical therapist. I have never left a review before, but felt compelled to do so have visits to White Oak Physical Therapy. I had physical therapy in 2014, at a facility closer to my home. Many times I was in tears because of the pain caused by the therapist who push me to do better and refused to let me quit when I was in pain. This practice was more for adolescents who had sports injuries. White Oak PT focuses on the individual's needs. The very first time at White Oak PT, I felt they understood my pain and how to help me move forward. Everyone is very supportive and encouraging. After spinal surgery in January 2018, I have had extensive therapy to walk normally since then. White Oak Physical Therapy is my third phase of treatment and while I was always confident that I would improve, I was hopeful that it would be at 100 percent. Stay away from this unprofessional place......lots of other choices!!!!! In early December of 2014, I made my first appointment here. Because most of my past care had been at the VA hospital, I wanted to make sure there was ease with getting my records to my appointment on time. I told the front desk person to make sure to call as far ahead as possible of the appointment date to request them. I explained that my neurologist waited until the day of to request them, and I waited almost an hour before they could send them (and was late getting back to work). She said she needed a signature for release of info, but I told her that since she was another provider (which I was sure she understood) that the VA hospital did not require a signature for release of information. I gave her the number and name to call. She said ok and she would call and have my records when I arrived for my appointment. Several days later, I called back just to make sure they didn't have any problems requesting my records. I spoke to a man this time. He told me that the physical therapist was responsible for that and placed me on hold for a minute. When he returned, he said that he couldn't find them but he was certain the PT would request it. Again, I explained the issue with the neurologist and provided to him the name and number of the medical records supervisor, whom I had just spoken to, and told him that she was sitting by the phone awaiting their call in order to fax my records promptly. He said that he would pass the information to the front desk person when she returned, so I trusted it to be done. My appt was yesterday. Before shutting down my computer at work, I decided to call the VA to make sure that they faxed my records. I spoke with the med records person (the same name I gave the front desk), who told me there was no record of the request. I then called White Oak to ask if my records had been requested for my appointment that day. The person answered, "when you come to your appointment today, we'll request the records. We can't do it until then." I then said, "this is not what you guys told me when I made the appointment. And either way, HIPAA does not require a release of information when the medical provider is directly requesting my records from another medical provider." (I'm a nurse, I've been a nurse for over 15 years. I know what I'm talking about). She then became very rude and said to me, "I'm the Director, and I'm telling you that we require a signature before requesting medical records!" OK. Now if this is there policy....fine... but keep reading..............so I said to her, "Well, if this is your policy, why didn't the TWO people that I spoke to over the last week tell me this? Obviously, everyone who works for you are not on the same sheet of..." She interrupts me and says very firmly and rudely, "You're speaking with the Director and I'm telling you what you need. I'm going to hang up the phone right now, so if you'd listen to me I'll tell you what you'll need to keep your appt today." At this point, I was very perturbed because I had been listening, but obviously she wasn't listening to my concerns. I think it's very important when a patient is telling a manager.....look, I understand what you're saying is your policy, but this policy isn't being followed and now, as the patient who is already suffering and having had to wait almost 2 weeks to see you, I'm upset that the doctor won't have full info on my problem to do a proper eval. Furthermore, you're more concerned that I don't miss this appt today because you want to make sure you get paid. Don't waste my time. Michelle then says, "Dr Hamou is only going to evaluate you". In other words, he doesn't need my records to do that? Is she high? Of course he needs my records! How can he see what disks are herniated in my neck? How can he give me a full evaluation without having all of the pieces? I decided right then and there that there was no way I could go to a place like this. I deserve the best care possible, and despite the fact that he could've looked at the records by the next appointment, I was disappointed in two things: 1) the person who is suppose to be the leader (the Director, Michelle), is completely rude and extremely unprofessional in dealing with a patient, 2) her attitude and refusal to acknowledge my concerns about what the staff told me, 3) she was more concerned about filling that appointment than making sure that the staff understood that patient care comes first, and that means ensuring that all medical records the patient has requested that the doctor take a look at are there on time 4) the fact that she doesn't even know medical law, but is a practice Director 5) making excuses for why my records aren't there, even though they've had over a week to request them, instead of just apologizing and trying to make it right. White Oak PT, your Director needs some classes in customer relations and standardizing and communication. read more

Mainly because of scheduling, I used three different therapists at White Oak during my approximate four months of therapy. All were great! They each used somewhat different, effective 15-30 minute therapy techniques but all had their assistants use the same routines for the remaining at least hour or so. I could barely walk when I started therapy and felt back to normal upon completion. The therapist all worked great together and well documented and shared the activities with each other. A few times the assistants were very busy and I had wait for help for help with the next exercise. I guess, busy is a good sign. I had back and leg issues. I took PT 4 months for my left side. My PT was Francis and he was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to listen and assess the proper exercises and treatment. The staff is extremely helpful, professional, and caring. I definitely recommend this facility and it is at a good location, with parking, and afternoon or early morning appointments. I have been to White Oak Physical Therapy in the past and had an excellent experience with a gentleman named Chin Le. This latest visit, Jan, 2016 was a huge disappointment. David Bullock, who treated me, had his attention focused elsewhere, except when he was dry needling. For that part of the treatment, he was focused. He "diagnosed" me as having both osteoarthritis and golfers elbow. He treated the elbow and told me that there was absolutely nothing he could do for the OA (as he called it.) He suggested one exercise, while Mayo Clinic (online) has at least 10 exercises that they suggest. I absolutely cannot recommend this physical therapy center. As Bullock said to me, he really has to focus on running the business and not be concerned with patients. He wasn't'. As a fitting close, he gave me the name of an orthopedist to call, and upon calling, I found that he had referred me to an ENT. read more
