In the hanging basket area, Melissa greeted us with a friendly smile and went above and beyond by bringing out additional baskets when I asked if there were more to choose from. I also called the next day and spoke with Marcia, who was very professional and confirmed delivery to my location without any issues. My son has been buying fuchsias from Uncle John's Plant Farm for Mother's Day for almost 20 years. He buys two every year. They usually have a wide variety of beautiful full hanging baskets. This year he only found one that was decent and even that was not impressive. So I went back to get a second fuchsia. First thing that I saw was that they were all bone dry, ridiculously sparse, and in relatively small pots. There were about three different color combinations, priced at $24.99. When I mentioned something to a greenhouse employee she told me that they had a different supplier this year. Every evening when I go out to water them I cringe because they look so bad. One of my favorite places in NEO, Uncle John's Plant Farm. First, Marcia and her staff know their stuff. From the gifts she hands picks for the gift barn to the knowledge of the staff and the information they have on the plants of NEO and how to care for them. I never leave this place without purchasing something. Except for today, the barn was closed for a BIG sale. See ya' tomorrow Unc. The coolest feature, you know, aside from the number of years in business and the fact that they grow a lot of their plants in the HUGE green house on the premises (that you can physically walk trough and see) -- the plant clinic. Okay, I named it that. That is not what they call it, BUT if you have a plant that needs help or seems to not be doing so well by your "green thumb" you can bring it in and they will "save" it by telling you what is wrong or what you can do to reverse the over-care you gave it. Also, they can make you a cool planter or re-pot a plant for you. How many places in NEO do that? See why I love this place? So make the drive, near or far, and pop out. I moved out to this area about a year and a half ago. I like to support local businesses and was delighted to find Uncle John's Plant Farm for my gardening needs. Nine days ago I purchased decorative garden stepping stones, along with a lot of other products, from Uncle John's Plant Farm for a walk path in my yard. One of them broke when stepped on less than a week later. I purchased a lot that day in two separate trips, and could not find the receipt with the stones purchase. This morning I called the store hoping for a return and store credit/replacement. The representative said the return policy was the item needed to be returned within 10 days, and they need a receipt. I told them I could not find the receipt but had a bank statement proving my purchase, and that the purchase was less than ten days ago. She seem a little stumped, so I asked if it would help to speak to the manager. Marcia got on the phone - I believe she's a co-owner - and asked if the stone was broken when I bought it. I stated that I wouldn't purchase a broken stone. She said that since I was the one who broke it, I could not return it, and that besides, I needed a receipt anyway. I have never had this experience before, and find their customer service lacking. I simply wanted to return a defective product and get a replacement or reimbursement. There are other local gardening establishments I will be using from now on. read more

We had a wedding and ordered a large quantity of mums ahead of time. Uncle John's knew they were for a wedding and knew when the date of the wedding was. I recognize that they can not control nature, but they do know nature, so when mums were not going to be in bloom, they being the experts we assumed they were should have told us to have a plan b- -Instead they sold the mums assuring us they would be in bloom by Sunday. -When no blooms were emerging, they reassured our calls of concerns saying you just need to put them in the sun and they will bloom -Another day of full sun and another call gave us the same story -Day of wedding we took a truck and two cars full of unbloomed mums two hours and kept cars warm to encourage blooms-no blooms but it is now Labor day Sunday and we are stuck -When no blooms developed, we had to go to another nursery and buy all new bloomed mums (other places had mums in bloom-fancy that!) -We now have twice as many mums and no way to get them the 2 hours back to town -When I called Uncle John's to explain situation, I was told they knew mums wouldn't bloom (Why tell us that now???). I was also told they needed cold not sun??They did say any we could return would be refunded-BUT -When the few mums gathered were taken back, we received the third degree despite having thought we worked out a relative compromise Bottom line- -Did not guide us with honest expertise. -They continued to encourage us to keep them knowing they would not bloom in time -They said they would refund and then were less than gracious about doing so despite the return being for a minimal fraction of the overall bill! Uncle Johns had several chances to do right by this bride before and after her wedding and they did not. Every other vendor was outstanding and their reviews will reflect that. This vendor's review is equally reflective of the quality of service rendered. read more

I always enjoy stopping at Uncle John's. They always have a beautiful selection of healthy vegetables and herbs, and their flowers often come in the most unusual colors. Their Gift Shop is an awesome place to walk through and I can always find something special for a quick gift or something to just treat myself to. Drove an hour to visit this Greenhouse, first impression was "WOW, this is beautiful". Very nice plant selection and gift items; however, we were never asked for help by any employees. We were followed by one particular staff member around the inside of the store. She approached us towards the end and asked if pictures were being taken - we took a few photos, the employee stated no pictures were allowed to be taken - there are no signs stating this anywhere on the store property. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS. I am a repeat customer (Christmas trees/ Holiday gifts) because on the surface it seems like a great place with original and interesting products. I bought over $100 worth of Mother's Day gifts for my wife including a plastic watering can/ spray bottle for $17. It was pricey, but very cool. Before even using the bottle, it broke as it fell out of the car. I attempted to exchange/ get a refund for the item since it is clearly a faulty product. The response I received was very underwhelming...."I don't see how that is our responsibility". I was offered a 20% discount to purchase another which was insulting to me. I also had to exchange a pair of gardening gloves for a larger size and was charged $2 extra because I went from an XS to a M. I expected a locally owned business to work with me as a repeat, local customer and not treat me like my purchase was insignificant or irrelevant. Congratulations Uncle John's, you just lost a repeat customer over a watering can. Shame, shame. read more

Wonderful place for plants and indoor plants, inviting and well kept, gift shop is interesting but I'm disappointed that just about all products are from China even ones that looked hand crafted. This is the kind of place I would expect artisan unique gifts, disappointing to give a gift that has that made in China sticker. The prices are high but I'm willing if an item is hand crafted here in the USA. read more
