No acknowledgment or welcoming of customers. I brought my boys in with HOPES of getting a clean cut! Thought we'd give this place a try. We walk in, there is NO acknowledgment from anyone...I had to speak up and say "Hello"? I EXPECTED someone to ask what I needed ? We sat quietly, looking around as, this was our first time ever visiting this place. FINALLY someone walked over to say "Um were FULLY booked "But we can cut them tomorrow !!?? I guess he noticed I was DISAPPOINTED and proceeded to ask EACH individual barber one by one if they could take my boys and each one said "NO" one even nodding instead of responding. I calmly replied "that is really BAD service"! and walked out. I guess that's why there was only one customer sitting in a chair!! LOL!! Honestly, I'm very disappointed with the service I received at Under The Blade. I had a 2 pm appointment with Anthony today and when I arrived, he was working on someone and said he would be done shortly. After waiting for 30 mins, I said, "I have to be somewhere in an hour, I'll have to reschedule". Anthony replied back with a thumbs up and said "ok". I walked out of there with no apology, no reschedule, and most importantly, no HAIRCUT. I'm insulted at the fact he didn't even try to redeem himself to make things right. He just let me walk out of their feeling like an afterthought. I don't understand how this is acceptable. I made an appointment with Anthony at Under the blade. I am glad to say that this guy is really good at giving haircuts. Plus he has a special VIP room in the back you just have to ask for the special. I'm glad I was able to get him as a barber always having me look good and feel good after with his word of affirmation. This review is a bit late, but this place is awesome. It was New Year's eve and after running some errands I finally had time to get my cut. I was in Maywood/Bell so I went to all the places that I know out there, but none of them were open. Julio's barbershop actually closed at 3pm?!?! What a joke. I was worried, but decided to look for a place around the crib. I went down Firestone, California, but there were no signs of life. Finally on State and Tweedy I see this place with the lights turned on and about 6-8 barbers cutting hair. I was hoping they would be able to squeeze me in (no homo), so I sat down and waited. I didn't get the guys name who asked me if I had an appointment or not, but he told me that they would get to me. At this point it was like 6ish so I could understand some of the barbers wanting to chill and begin the festivities. Finally, Andrew agreed that I would be his last customer for the night and he hooked me up. I was grateful and very happy with the finished look. They absolutely know what they are doing here. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the barbers here. Also, they have music and music videos running the entire time. It's like a party haha. Amazing! The quality of the haircuts is SECOND TO NONE! The barbers truly take their time to cut your hair and make sure that you're truly satisfied from the length of your hair, your fade, your line up to how you feel overall. I travel from Koreatown which is 18 miles away and it's worth it. The atmosphere is great. All of the barbers are friendly and social and can talk to anyone of all backgrounds and make you feel included. I go on a weekly/bi-weekly basis and I've always had a great time and the barbers are pretty funny. Highly recommend to anyone who is looking for quality haircuts for decent pricing! The owner Mike is very welcoming and professional and answered all of my questions and made me feel welcomed. Not sure why some of the comments below are so negative. A few of them have pretty negative and unwarranted comments such as calling the barbers "uneducated." Just from those comments alone, I can tell there was some personal matters (beyond and outside of the shop). Mikey, owner of the barbershop is my barber and he is very professional and passionate about his craft. He takes his time to make the customer feel appreciated. He goes above and beyond for his customers. Mickey did just that the night before my wedding for my haircut. He was extremely detailed and wanted to give me the perfect haircut for the big day and he did just that. Every barber at this shop does just that. They take care of their clients. I took my son Here for a haircut with no APPT. and it was the biggest mistake of my life . 3 hours later. Yes I understand Appt's take priority but the barbers bullshit and treat walk in's with no respect. I waited only because I had already invested time waiting.. But never again will I go there. This barbershop is probably one of the most unprofessional shops that I have been to. The barbers are constantly on their phone while cutting the clients hair. The staff lacks communication skills and you pretty much need an appointment prior to walking in. The barbers will not greet you upon entering the shop. The barbers will not inform you that they are booked. I recommend calling before walking in. You can be waiting there for hours without the barbers letting you know that they are not taking walk-ins. read more

Terrible Customer Service! I took my brother here on a whim and as soon as I walked in, the place smelled like nothing but pot. If I could rate this place, with no stars I would. As soon as we walked in, no one greeted us or asked if we needed help... NOTHING! One guy sitting in a barbers chair might've had a staring problem, that's about it. The same rap video was on repeat, and it was just awful. If you want to go to a place where your money isn't valued, I recommend this place. Where do I begin ? They don't even acknowledge you once you come through the door . Not even a "hello" ! Not sure if it was because I was a female . Very Bad customer service!.. My family member had an appointment at 1:30 and A.J. (The barber), did not show up on time. We waited 1 hour and 30 minutes for him to show up and he never showed up. I was really disappointed with the customer service here. This was my 2nd time at this shop. The first time was great and Izzy was wonderful. I don't know what happened this time though. I signed in and and waited. The barber on right hand side had finished cutting some guys hair and proceeded to play with his phone, laptop, chat with some guy sitting in barber chair who I later found out was another barber just chillin and the whole time I was sitting there without any acknowledgement like "hey there..it'll be a few minutes..." This went on for about 20 minutes. Then another barber comes In and starts setting up his station. He looks at guy sitting in chair and asks if he was going to be attending customers. He said he wasn't starting till 1...also saying he wasn't done watching the movie that was playing on the tv. With every other business on Tweedy being a barber shop and you being the new one on the block, you would think that you would want to make yours stand out. I don't think anybody expects to be treated hand and foot at a barbershop..but a little common courtesy good customer service goes a long way. read more

I brought my son on June 6,2016. There was three barbers. The first one was cutting someone's hair and the second barber was looking at a movie and the third guy was sitting down watching the soccer game. I was finally greeted and I showed the young guy a picture that I wanted which showed the guys too hair long with faded on the sides. Once I saw that the guys was almost finished my sons hair looked nothing like the picture. His hair was cut with one number all around. Looked like a chia pet from where I was sitting. I approached him to let him know that I wanted his hair to be faded with a line up then he immediately looked at me with a disgust and said that he was cutting my sons picture and that I changed it. I had to repeat my self like 5 times so that he understood that I wanted the back to be faded because my son's hair grows out fast. He looked at me with a disgust. First of all, if someone doesn't like a haircut they have every right to change it. He took a while to cut my sons hair. When he was finished he began to clean his station while I was standing with a car seat in my hand. He finally approached me and I asked him how much he was going to charge me and he said $20.00 and then I said the list says $15.00 for a fade and a taper and line up included. He told me "since you changed the haircut I have to charge you $5.00 more for a line up" what a bunch of horse crap. First time at this place and last time here. There are too busy watching movies that are perverted. Learn some customer service. read more
