I was able to give specific information about my printing needs as I submitted my files. I received an email this morning clarifying my details. It was great communication. I choose to go into the shop to finish my printing adventure (I'm an artist so I needed to be hands-on!) And the staff was friendly and helpful. I felt appreciated for my patronage and I left with just what I had hoped for! I had color printing done after working to resize a digital image for download. Upon reading the variety of paper they use, I instantly knew this was where I needed to go. There's such an attention to detail here and the owner, Liz, really knows her stuff. The shop is located in the back of Beadology on Washington in downtown Iowa City. I entered through the Beadology store and walked back through their crafting room - there's a cutesy paper sign outside of The Paper Nest's front door. I ended up buying a couple large sheets of paper here. Now that I've seen the space, met Liz, and seen her gorgeous letterpress work, I can hardly wait for the first opportunity I have to submit a letterpress order with her.

Went in to print 3 black and white pdf files. Was directed towards a computer on the counter…read morerunning Windows XP. The sign on the computer directing the user to which printer to choose in the print options was out of date so the print job went to the wrong printer. The clerk came by after I tried printing my first one to tell me that I needed to choose the correct (unlisted) printer. The computer also gave an error after clicking print each time. The page printed successfully, though, but I did end up printing one page twice because I thought the error meant it didn't print. (I discussed the error with the clerk and was charged for the error page.) I was charged for the 4 minutes of computer time I used. The total bill came to $1.50, which is absurd when if there were a FedEx Kinkos in the area they would have charged me 30 cents for the same services (printing 3 pages off a file on a CD) and the clerk would have done it for me. I would behoove Zephyr to improve their customer service and perhaps their prices. tl;dr: printing three eight by ten black and white pages cost 50 cents per page.

On my most recent visit, I was interested in two sets of watercolors and was glad I asked an associate about their prices...because one was around $10 and the other $45. Same thing with a cool set of dual markers/pens I almost bought...I had not looked at the price correctly and the associate pointed it was $161. She kindly found another set for me for less than $10 (which was all I needed). Art things are expensive in general but you can definitely find some good deals here, especially during their sales. The staff here are all very cheerful, helpful and friendly...my favorite store in Iowa City whenever I visit the area.
