When I complained, a rep from A-Tech named Bill told my building manager that they were spraying Roundup--a product that's notoriously toxic and involved in numerous legal cases over health risks--then backtracked, saying it was "something like Roundup." I wasn't willing to take the risk of bringing all of my toddler's toys back in my apartment if there was even one drop of Roundup on it. EVERYTHING had to be discarded - her padded floor, all of her toys, baby gate, everything. When I asked for reimbursement after discarding the items for my daughter's safety, I was told to "just hose them down." To make matters worse, the company rep, Bill, showed up hours later and smugly claimed it was "100% impossible" for the spray to have reached anything--even though he wasn't there. Instead of taking the situation seriously, he rambled about the odds of getting hit by a car in England during his recent vacation. It was irrelevant, dismissive, and wildly inappropriate given the circumstances. Bill said he would get back to me about reimbursement, but never did. Despite me sending a follow-up email to the company, they never replied, never took responsibility, and clearly don't care about safety or accountability. Avoid this company at all costs.

I told Ken what I wanted and he said he could turn our property into the envy of the neighborhood. I was skeptical at first. I needed flowers and shrubs. The side and rear of the house were just ugly dirt and gravel. I wanted a side patio of pavers and rear walkway to cover up the dirt and gravel on the sides of the house. A walkway from the rear walkway to the rear deck. There was a shed with a cement walkway that had to be removed. This was no small task. They tore down the shed and cement walkway and cleared out and leveled out the rear yard. They had to remove over 20 yards of dirt and rocks. They had to move a small tree from the middle of the yard to the corner. They planted new flowers and shrubs with existing ones put down new sod . Then install all the hardscape. It was quite a task. When it finally was finished I couldn't believe it was the same property. Now when buyers come to see the house the first thing they look at is the beautiful new yard. This guy turned into a complete shyster. Although he came and cut the lawn, he never gave an…read moreaccurate breakdown of Fall Cleanup. He claims $35 per cut and then you get a $500 bill that he can't explain a breakdown for. Says its for every time he cuts lawns in the fall he blows leaves (which is true) but then they're never even bagged per town policy. So, your leaves blow back. He should have explained that you will never pay $35.00 a cut. He adds $500 on top of that for the season which he believes is 8 weeks, which makes it way more per cut. He never tried to work with us. He just always gave high quotes ($1600 to get rid of bamboo! (Robbery). Thank God we were smart enough to find someone else to do it for $475.00. All he wanted was his money, never a decent relationship and honest work with for his customers. Sad... And PS the lawn NEVER even looked good! It's dry and has patches of dirt throughout. Look elsewhere, we plan to!

Lesson Learned = TruGreen will take your money to service your yard, but it is up to you to make…read moresure they do it correctly. If you don't, there is a risk of damage to your yard (at least for me, they destroyed my front yard in 11 months). Location: Central NJ I had a brand newly sodded yard (less than 2 years old), and I hired TruGreen in October 2023 because I wanted to have one vendor to service my bushes and yard. In June 2024, they serviced my yard and attributed browning spots to "heat stress." They did not take the time to see if the areas could possibly be damaged by insects. They did not service my yard in July, and by August, my yard looks exactly like the pictures. One technician (JUSTIN D) came out and told me that "chinch bugs" and "sod web worm" were the culprits plus lawn disease. He assured me that he sprayed for the bugs (albeit late since the grass is dead). He also told me that he was not surprised that I had a lot of weeds since I wasn't serviced for 2 months. Again, foolish of me to think I would be scheduled appropriately. He came across as defensive and put the onus on me to have called sooner as "we're a team". I spoke to someone else at TruGreen (who came across as nice and concerned) and recommended a "manager" come out to look at the yard / potentially making "resources available" for any repair. The "manager" (ANTHONY U) who showed up with a lit cigarette told me that "chinch bugs damaged my yard not us". This is very true, and I must have been foolish to think that TruGreen (under a "TruMAINTENANCE" plan) would have at least investigated browning areas back in June. The "manager" (bless his heart) tried to pitch their seeding service (non-complimentary of course). If I could trust them to do quality work or if the technicians might have showed a little sympathy, I might have given that a try since my yard is now a disaster. I feel like a fool for trusting them, but it does give me joy to know that I will never give this company a penny again. See below for some lessons I learned (in case you decide to give them a try): 1) I signed up for the TruMaintenance plan which did not include Lawn-Damaging Insect control. However it did include a "Lawn Assessment" where I would have assumed they could have alerted me to any potential problems / opportunity to upsell a different plan. It's probably better to sign up for TruComplete or TruHealth in hindsight OR monitor the yard closely yourself in case there are issues they don't look for or catch. 2) Make sure you tell them to spray and service your entire yard -- you will have to show them exactly where to go (including the area between a side walk and street). For me, they didn't bother to spray weed control between my sidewalk and street, so that area has been overtaken by weeds. 3) Note that different people can show up to service your yard so try to be home while they are servicing it to make sure that whoever shows up actually services the entire yard (unfortunately, they usually serviced my home on Tuesday / Wednesdays when I would be physically at work).
