When I came into visit they really didn't tell you anything other than to just sign in, I was showing my family member some photos and on a phone call but then they had there supervisor interrupted our session and said we couldn't have phones and outside food, but like I said we weren't notified even though they saw me brought it inside. ‍‍ read more

I have witnessed Debbie LPN treat staff members poorly, she is controlling, insecure and punishes her staff by constantly talking down to them, she walks around and micromanages, never actually working, but is constantly demanding everyone else do her work and treats RNs horribly! This LPN should be fired!!! She gives this place a bad reputation and needs to take her controlling attitude someplace else. read more

i went to unhooked and it changed my life i have since gone on to new freedom ,where i become a certified peer support specialist and wish to work there at unhooked as well.the staff was great ,especially the b.h.ts, they were like the family i no longer have.it all boils down to you you have to want it,cause you as the individual have to want to get past the misuse and genuine willingness to put the work in for the change that you can accomplish! they really changed my life ,and showed me why i misused for 35 yrs.! thankyou , i am forever in your debt ! read more

I know this is said in so many reviews, PLEASE READ! If I could give 0 stars I would. Based on what I've heard about places like com. bridges, this place is half a step up. If you or a loved one is struggling with substance abuse/mental problems, dont come to this place. For those looking for a cliff notes on this review, I'll provide key points right here. Cult vibes/forced religion/indoctrination, severe lack of care, NOT A MEDICAL FACILTY, degradation, unprofessional, false advertisement, neglect, SCAM! For details, read on. I am speaking from my own personal experience here. I was sent here for alcohol abuse. That's not what they treat. It's all opioids. I was sent here by a behavioral health facility after having tried to kill myself. They said this facility could help me with all the required paperwork I needed for my insurance (as Unhooked advertises). Unhooked LIES to healthcare providers. Physicians are victims of their deception as well as patients. I had a laceration from my suicide attempt and needed to keep my arm elevated while sitting/sleeping, they basically said "sucks to suck, maybe you shouldn't have done that. Dumb move" and refused to give me an extra pillow for my arm. Thanks a lot for reminding me how stupid I am for not trying harder to die. Noted. I had to take a cab directly from the hospital to the intake building (not on site), they want zero interaction with your loved ones who may have done research on this place and found they were bad news. You get papers to sign *BEFORE* you are given the binder with the information you're signing and are told to read it while they basically steal the soul you just signed away to them. The information in the binder "educates" you on what you just signed. Falsely. It says you're signing an agreement that if you sustain an injury while participation in outdoor sports, games, or activities/exercise equipment use they regularly provide they are not accountable. YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED OUTSIDE TO SMOKE AND THERE IS NO GYM. In my week and change there, I saw no such thing. You got 3 ish hours on Sunday to go see someone you love at the park nearby, that's it for unsmoked air time. They have you sign that you're aware they are required to provide you a safe, non degrading environment in which you aren't bullied (essentially... long phrasing short) lies again. They get off on degrading you for not being as recovered as they are. also every person on staff is a former (honestly probably some are current based on their mannerisms and demeanor) hard drug addicts. Then take your picture. Lastly, a promise to see a case manager ASAP, I NEVER saw one despite daily written+verbal requests. You get 1 safety call to tell someone you're there and do not get the promised supply call without a fight. No contact for 2 weeks. After that is info on how you signed up to received PERSONALIZED INDIVIDUAL CARE, both physical and mental and states that you have access (upon request) to daily meetings with a licensed therapist and doctor. Also you cant get any meds while the Dr is there, even inhalers (they have mold) + no basic OTCs allowed unless prescribed (ibuprofen, allegra, etc.) it took 5 days to get tums. After that, an employee picks you up from the intake building and drives you to where you actually will stay, taking only side streets so it's harder to know where you are if you're not familiar with the area. LITERALLY every single person (other than myself and a girl plagued by Xanax) in here was an opioid user (P.S. I'm allergic to opiods and found out after my mom gave me half a Vicodin for strep throat and never touched the stuff again). On top of that, they were blatantly over medicating their opioid patients which resulted in them being unable to stay awake, be aware of their surroundings, speak out (or speak at all) when they felt abused or neglected during the hours you were "allowed" to, falling over, and being ridiculed and/or punished by staff for showing any of these symptoms and blaming the patients who had zero control over the dose they were given and calling them "trigger makers" (instead of trouble makes to fit Unhooked's "vibe"). They were constantly repremanded in group for these over medicated symptoms, which then made everyone agitated witch each other and caused tension because it made the group time drag out past our smoke break time, which was all anyone had to look forward to or into our eating time which was very short and almost always cut off early, forcing patients to throw away their food. Worst of all, upon finding out they weren't even allowed to help me with #1 reason I went there, I asked to call my listed contact to get me (who had my phone) and they refused, said they wont help me leave, made me put my stuff in a plastic bag, walk to the grocery store down the street, and call my emergency contact from the service counter, in the hot sun, with one working arm! While I will be honest it is not my top pick of the litter for rehabs that I have been to it's definitely not at all the worst. The staff that I dealt with while my 38 days of staying there were all very friendly and very supportive and are not afraid to go above and beyond to try to help. I'd like to give a special shout out to Natasha, Dave, Erin and also Tila because all of them made each day that much easier for me.. And unfortunately I'm terrible with names and I cannot remember for the life of me for some stupid reason even though he was not only the first one to help me feel comfortable there but also the last one to make sure that when I left that I was in an okay headspace, I also would like to give a shout out to the younger dude who works afternoon in mesquite pod whom I always talked with about Pokemon go on a daily. Oh boy, where to start. I'm having to update this because it's worse than I initially thought. My person is only dealing with Unhooked due to a court mandate - he made a very stupid mistake (the kind thousands of people also make on New Years Eve). Trust me, he's an *** for doing it. I'm not excusing it. He does not, however, need to spend 30 days in a rehab over it. Soo... y'all, don't risk catching a DUI - they aren't slapping wrists anymore, they're handing out probation and rehab sentences. Get an Uber. So. Just getting in here was a colossal pain in the rear end. He has a professional job that's trying to work with things and he scheduled his 30 days off. Unhooked, however, certainly didn't want to work with things. It was a full 8 days and 4 trips back & forth after initially starting "assessment" with Unhooked that he was finally given a bed. The "assessment" was dragged out over 3 days because "the person who handles that isn't here today". The scheduler does not return voicemails, only communicates via text apparently, and half the time it looks like it was a pocket dial. Super professional. He was told there was a bed available for a Monday, on a Friday, when they don't do intakes on weekends. On Monday, no bed. Where did it go? He finally got in on a Wednesday. I witnessed someone in the waiting room be told she had a spot & send her husband on his way, only to be told 20 minutes later "never mind, no bed". That's just sad. "Treatment Team" is a fun read on their website. An RN is not a qualification to be head honcho of a rehab, in my opinion. Several of the staff on there appear to have no education of any sort. There is no medical director. The next option is a "director of care" who is an LPN. That is a 1 year degree in "practical" nursing. Come. On. This tells me their supervising physician, which they need to in order to provide medication, is likely someone who is contracted (not employed by them), off-site most of the time, and not very involved. Today, my suspicions were confirmed. I was informed that my person was made to process through the detox area in order to get his normal prescription meds (non-abusable, boring stuff). He spent 2 nights in there because no physician came to see him. BIG RED FLAG. Very dangerous for anyone dealing with alcohol withdrawals. Have you seen someone have a seizure while spraying blood on a wall from biting their own tongue during withdrawal? Because I have, and it's not pretty, and it needs immediate handling by a physician. Please go to an actual hospital with actual doctors walking around 24/7 if you need to be stabilized to stop drinking. Upon more investigation today, it seems Unhooked has had violations from the Dept of Health Services for not keeping medical records, having an unstocked first aid kit, expired medications (including Narcan!) and not having a physician available to patients within 24 hours. You can find this for yourself on the AZDHS website. The program, from what I can tell via their website & other reviews, seems to be just your typical 12 step that works for 5-10% of people. If you're one of those people, save your cash and go to the many free AA meetings around the area, unless you REALLY need to separate yourself physically from the outside world (in which case, there are other rehabs). Their site advertises "individualized treatment" - is that why they also have a Dept of Health Services violation for having 8/8 records reviewed and finding that they all had *identical* treatment goals and objectives? Hm. Now for the pettier issues - I was also told today that the food is horrible and the rooms are kept around 60*. I brought him a few pieces of warmer clothing & was treated like I was trying to smuggle a nail file in a cake. They have rules about X amount of clothing for "theft" reasons (so, tells you no cameras & not enough staff). Instead of just checking if he had reached the limit, 3 different staff had to question what was in the bag and make a big thing of it before acting like they were doing us a favor. It also took a relay of multiple staff and "I don't know, who told you that was allowed?" type comments, to allow him access to his wallet for 30 seconds to give me one of our debit cards. It's fine, don't worry, I'll just get evicted. "No contact" period of 2 weeks, no visitation unless you want to come have a "family session" wherein a counselor with a degree from University of Phoenix (yep, check their website) tries to "help" you and your loved one. No thanks. Seriously internet denizens, if you're reading this because you want to quit using substances... there's a LOT of rehabs in Arizona. A lot of them probably take AHCCCS if that's your concern. There's more AA/NA/Whatever-A meetings than you can shake multiple sticks at. Please check all those out first before calling Unhooked. read more

While I cannot share exact details of why I visited this facility on behalf of a friend (for reasons of protecting their privacy), I can say that I was appalled by what I saw. This place is focused entirely on extracting money from people at the most vulnerable point in their lives, nothing more. Their "treatment" is designed to keep people staying as long as possible to milk their wallets and insurance, not to actually improve their lives. There are some classic cult techniques used here to even separate the residents from their loved ones, even those who are supportive of their recovery and weren't part of the original problem. read more

Awful place. Spent months putting my now ex-girlfriend through what was basically Christian indoctrination. They even convinced her to give up custody of her children (!!!!) to their deadbeat father just so she could stay in treatment longer. They maxed out her insurance, then convinced her to leave her home and move into some kind of compound that they run for several more months. After they squeezed every last cent they could out of her (government funded) insurance they promptly declared her cured. She still has all the same problems she had before she went there. All they did is bill the heck out of her insurance and convince her to join a religious cult. I personally hate that place. read more

A great place to learn consistency and structure, to become a functioning member of society once again after the wreckage of our addiction. I worked for Unhooked Recovery from 7/1/2019 - 01/12/2022 I utilized my time with Unhooked as a BHT lead and then moved onto Case management in 2020. I worked with the male client population on their aftercare plan, Criminal cases and probation relationships in which I found a passion doing. Working for Unhooked Recovery helped me in my leadership skills and self growth. I also gained some very important relationships in my life that I continue to cherish and will always hold dear in my heart for the rest of my life. Unhooked Recovery is awesome! I completed 2 months of inpatient treatment, the intensive outpatient program, and outpatient one-on-one counseling. The program content is helpful and a great foundation for a lifetime of sobriety. The staff members are INCREDIBLE - very compassionate and knowledgeable! Would recommend Unhooked to any friend or loved one struggling with addiction issues. This program is a big part of why I am celebrating a year of continuous sobriety this month! read more

This place has zero recovery standards. They do not call you back. Even when you call for two straight weeks. The rules do not apply regarding safety and sobriety. Several fellow recovery members were observed to be under the influence, and the staff did not intervene. Toilets flood, it's infested, inside and out. My experience with Unhooked was not positive. There are no medical professionals on staff, or even on site. Communications between patients and their friends/family is prohibited for weeks at a time, and if/when it is allowed, it is brief and only under close supervision. Unhooked does not teach patients effective life management skills, job skills, parenting skills, or even skills to effectively address a substance abuse addiction. Instead they focus on indoctrinating people into a cult-like group. They have patients engage in group prayers, chant memorized phrases out of a book, tell personal stories about how addiction ruined their life, sing some songs, and then pray again. I watched relationships wither and die. I did not see anyone leave better off than when they arrived. There are other treatment facilities out there, and if you are reading this review, I encourage you to go to one of them instead. The best ones use scientifically proven treatment methods instead, which Unhooked does not - and it shows. Avoid this place at all costs. One star. read more

This rehad doesn't have real doctor's or nurses. The staff is trained on site. No degrees some of them have never did drugs or alcohol, surprising they lack the degrees. They are babysitters who act like they want to help. I have proof: I got into an argument with Clarissa because she lead me to believe I was going to be punished for someone mistakenly taken a book of mine. I bet your saying how could I be punished? My same thoughts. So, I asked her of and she treated like a child. Especially, I have more degrees than she does. Image that. This the really shocking event. I said I wanted to leave and said it. They I was told to carry all of my bags to the front. When I say all, 4 big bags and they knew I have a bad back. That's not the most surprising part. They refused to have my cellphone, they claimed it was locked in an office and they didn't have the keys. But just the day before ( Saturday this event happened on Sunday) I was allowed to use the and that was not the time because it is locked in U.A room on the unit I was on. I needed my phone to call someone to pick me up. ( I didn't know anyone in Mesa at all, except for the people in the the rehab. The staff I was to trust with my best interest at heart, at least do their job. And Clarissa would not allow me to use the phone up front. Even after I told them that I had a plan. Which was ri call Lyft and go to the Sober Living that was saving a bed for me. Amazing right? No that's is not the end of it.... they called the police and the police gave 2 options. Go to jail get off the property. Well, what I chose in light of.thw fact I still didn't k ow anyone in Mesa. So, I in up agreeing to go to jail, but when they were trying but the cuffs on..remember I decided to go with them. I kind of flipped out, again I was in their to get level on my meds. They also ( the police) still gave me a ticket!!!! Wow. Just to let you know my insurance sent my meds. and they haven't called me to pick them up and will not answer the phone. Maybe they are using them or selling them? I don't know, I just know I will be charged by my I insurance. As well as I need them, again the reason I was there. What do you think? This is for the TUCSON LOCATION ONLY!!! I entered Unhooked 8/1/19 for alcohol treatment. On 8/1/19 RSS James Johnson aka JJ helped me get donation clothes & was talking about recovery. He said he was on Parole and 14 mo. clean. JJ asked me out to dinner once I completed the program. I said I wasn't Interested". Around 8/3/19 I went out to the common rm 2 ask for more medicine as I could not sleep about 2amish. The BHT (Bruce?) was NOT on the floor as he was required to be. JJ was in a chair facing the TV on his phone. I asked him about the medicine, he said "the BHT would be back soon". I sat on the arm of the chair facing away from James Johnson to wait. I was rubbing my neck because it was sore and James Johnson offered to rub my neck. I hesitantly agreed because I was kind of trusting that he was harmless and that this was a safe place. He proceeded to rub my shoulders over my shirt then quickly went under my shirt. At that time I squirmed and he then reached around and grab my breast and nipple. I stood up and said, "where is the BHT?" JJ then text on his phone to the medicine staff member, whom arrived within 3 minutes it was close to 3am at this point and I looked around the room and noticed the camera in the corner on. I took a Ibuprophen and went to bed. I was unsettled. The next day at the AA meeting that JJ took us to around 3:30 pm, he apologized and said "he was out of line". I said "ok I guess Thank you for apologizing." Between the 8/5 and 8/10 my roommates dad died & I was alone in my room now. There are no locks on the doors and no door inside the room to the bedroom. JJ was doing 10pm room checks. I was in my bed on 150mg of Trazadone and 50mg of Hydroxyzine. *(Please check all medical records for dates and times of my medication taken to validate what I am saying). JJ came back later into my room 11pmish and I awoke to him with his hands under my shirt touching my back. I was facing away from the doorway sleeping (almost asleep). I looked over my shoulder to see who it was and what was happening and he then proceeded to put his left hand down the back of my pants and stick his fingers inside my vagina in a forceful manner which hurt very badly. I jerked to try to get away but he grabbed my waste and propped me up in a doggy style position and said "pull your pants down" as he pulled them down and proceeded to force himself inside me and ejaculate. He then told me to pull up my pants and left. I crawled up in a ball and cried for a while then got up to rinse myself out and then went back to sleep shocked and in disbelief that this just had really happened. I didn't say anything to staff because I was scared and shocked, and I had come there for recovery and not this type of problem and hurt. I spoke to him awhile later and told him, "You rapped me and I should tell someone, that I am just a baby in recovery and how dare him violate me like that! He said nothing. On 8/16 I got a new roommate. Morning of 8/17 we got woke up for the morning and she had explained to me that JJ had slept with her and bought her a phone the last time she was there. I felt comfortable to share my story with her. I said to her "that we should report this together, because if there is just one of us no one will believe the story." She was gonna think about it I jumped in the shower and just as I was coming out of the room someone said that they wanted me in the office. The new roommate (which you will have to look up records to get her name) ran to the office and told them I was gonna press charges against JJ and that I was accusing him of rape. I got to the office and I believe Derrick (?) is his name was on duty and two other females. I told my story and asked to call the police. They called the director and she refused to come in as well and the program director. They also told me I could not call the police. 8/18 The Head Director came in and asked me what had happened. AT the same time she brought a few other clients into to the office to see what they heard and why there was some personal issues with another client. Like trying to make me look like a problem client. Mid you I have never been in trouble or written up or on any behavioral contracts. I am a model client. The head director then put me in a position of discomfort and asked me to call the police right now there and then in front of her and the other staff. I said "I feel uncomfortable with you all in the room.' I said "I would later call and that I wanted to talk to my therapist first thing in the morning on Monday." Later that day I asked to call and they told me I could not and that I couldn't speak to my therapist. Monday morning I spoke to him and called the police and made a report. Gave them my Pj's for DNA. I had washed them once so we will see. So the facility says the cameras were never working and there is no video proof. Tucson detectives are still investigating and James Johnson aka JJ still works there today! read more

This is an inpatient treatment center which focuses on AHCCCS insurance holders. U hooked offers camaraderie, 3 meals a day. Warm comfy beds, Group and individual counsiling sessions and explores options for personal recovery. A great place to get away from the world for a while and fix your unmanageable lifestyle. what more do you really need? It isnt club med. But IS the BEST BANG for your buck. 5 stars! read more

Private pay and commercial insurance clients will surely get a bang for their buck. Also, by far THE best AHCCCS provider for inpatient treatment in the state. One of the very best for outpatient for sure. Superbly run, clean place, serving meals which are nutritionally balanced with the population they serve in mind. If I needed help myself, I wouldn't think about any other place. One of those rare providers in the field which are not managed and operated like a dysfunctional family. read more

This place is AMAZING!! The staff is very caring and understanding, a lot of them supply an abundance of empathy rather than sympathy, and it makes a huge difference. The Kitchen staff is phenomenal and the meals always taste like a slice of heaven. Especially that guy Vince. He's a MF stud! The BHT's and Councilors are all exceptional and provide a miraculous amount of care and attention. As an alumni patient, I always found myself in deep thought of admiration for the blessings of that which is everything that comprises to make Unhooked what it is. And always found myself saying to my peers, "God walks through these hallways and speaks through each and everyone of us". Especially that one councilor Calleen. She saved my life and is an Angel sent from God! If you can tolerate her laugh and extra bubbly personality. If the qualifications were a little less life threatening, I'd definitely return! read more
