This place holds conferences for both small…read moreand large get-togethers, as well as private sessions wether it's a couple enjoying a quiet getaway, weddings, well just whatever you may think of; they cater to pretty much any kind of scenario. If you want (or need) to spend the night you can hire their well-equipped cabins for the night (or several). They have a wide range of activities available such as going by hovercraft on the ice, kayaking, fishing, sauna, spa, skiing and snowmobile trips, and much more. I've actually only been here on work-related business, but that doesn't by any means diminish the experience. I've wined, dined, and enjoyed great company with both friends, colleagues and new acquaintancies. Their service and attentiveness isn't flawless by any means, but they make up for it in abundance with sincerety and genuine concern for their guests; it feels more like visiting someone in their home and they really want to make you feel comfortable. The main cabin is wooden magic extraordinare. A genuin log cabin, the woodwork inside is utterly impeccable as well as contempary modern. The whole place just gets under my skin when I'm there. The food is a blend of straight up comfort food with moments of contemporary and flare, particularly the dinners. For lunch the first day we were served souvas with forest mushrooms and bacon, mashed potatoes and lingonberries with a selection of salads. Tasty, creamy, well-seasoned and perfectly balanced. For dinner we started with bread and cheese gratin as an aperitif. Well, truthfully I and a few colleagues actually started ahead of that with a nice glass of something cool and bubbly in the lounge area! The main course was a serving of perfectly seared fillet of lamb, fondant potato, asparagus, carrots and rosemary butter jus. Loved that dish! In the glass I had a red wine, but I don't actually know what sort. It was a good pairing though. For dessert it was a blueberry pie with crispy merengue. However it was way overly sweet. Too much for me, so unfortunately left most of it. The evening continued in the spa with sauna, cool drinks and sitting in the outdoor jacuzzi with the wind howling, snow whirling around your head freezing your hair into spikes. We had such an awesome time! The breakfast is fairly standard, but all well-prepared and tasty. The eggs were too hardboiled, but otherwise nothing to point a finger at. I personally love the fresh fruits. The last lunch (this time around) was a seafood and fish dish that was both well-seasoned and fresh on the palate. All in all, I keep coming back to Brändö when I have the chance because it's just that serene, relaxing, rewarding and beautiful.

The hotel had all the amenities we needed, it also has a small (yet sufficient) spa and gym on the bottom floor. Our room was well lit, and roomy. At first look the beds seem a bit hard, but they were surprisingly comfortable. I was more than satisfied with the breakfast spread. They also have live jazz and dancing on weekends. However what made my stay so exceptional, was the always smiling staff. We were always made to feel very welcome. They went way above and beyond my expectations, making sure our stay at the hotel was as comfortable and pleasant as possible. While being professional, they made me feel like I was staying at a friends home. All the staff were lovely, the front desk/ cafeteria staff Moa, Lisalotte, and the always energetic David were always there catering to our needs, Linn took care of us at the restaurant/bar, but special thanks goes to Frida, who personally handled all our logistics, room arrangements, and promptly provided solutions to any issues. Overall, I was really happy with my experience staying at this hotel and I am definitely looking forward to my next stay here.

The invitation was +1 so of course I brought my wife along so we could have a nice evening out both with colleagues and friends, but foremost with each other and no kids tugging in our pants or yelling in our ears. Of course, Serving for over a hundred people at the same time must be taken into consideration when rating, but overall it didn't really fascinate me that much. The place itself is nice with a fairly modern approach to style and furnishing. Especially the bar section is quite cool with an oval shape with the bar being able to serve all 360 degrees. Clever and cool. Also an open kitchen is pleasant if done properly, showing the finishing touches without showing all the sweat and hard work in the back. And this is where this particular house of card starts to falter. The kitchen is too open, shows too much, leaving nothing for the imagination or expectation. Furthermore, the bartenders seemed less confident about making drinks and/or cocktails than your average 5 year-old going bananas in a kitchen. I asked for a simple Gin Fizz and they had never even heard of it. Come on, it's a classic cocktail every bartender should now! Every bartender may not make a really excellent Gin Fizz (almost no one does), but they should at least have an idea. For my wife I ordered a special drink I usually make at home, but even though I explained the recipe it was an utter disaster. Shaking with ice doesn''t mean pouring the spirits over ice, pouring that mix into the shaker and then pouring it back into the glass. I was flabbergasted on how bad it was. Not to forget that my Gin Fizz was like dishwater against my palate. The dinner itself was, well, under par for the most part. And yes, I have taken into consideration the amount of people being served at the same time. The starter was a seafood ceviche, meaning a raw seafood salad that is served with a decent amount of spices, salt, pepper, chili and citrus such as lemon. It lacked everything. Seasoning, chili, sour, herbs. Bland is the nicest word I can conjure up. The main was a small up-swing with fillet of beef nicely cooked, however under-seasoned both on salt and pepper. It was supposed to have whole roasted baby potatoes, but they were more boiled with absolutely no char on them whatsoever. Some small pieces of roasted paprikas and a red wine sauce that was too sweet (red wine sauce with sugar is an absolute NO) to an almost sickling degree. The dessert was some sort of vanilla pannacotta with sour strawberry gel, berries, crumble and strawberry sorbet. Definitely best of the night paired with coffee and a good 12 YO whiskey. Also, on the positive side, they did have decent wine-selections to the food although they could have picked a bit of a sharper wine for the ceviche starter. One thing that also kept disturbing me the entire evening was the in-your-face, obtrusive, and declamatory attitude of the serving staff. Their attitude really annoyed me. In all honesty, some of them were undoubtedly not qualified for the job. However, boiled down to the essentials, this place is worth neither the time nor the money. Luckily for me someone else payed the bill, otherwise I would have left feeling both unsatisfied and robbed. No I only left feeling unsatisfied. Two weak knives out of five.
