It's been a while, but I remember going here as a first-time customer, when they were offering a free deep bikini wax in addition to having another service. I arrived on time for my brows, but the technician was late taking me back to the room. So late, in fact, that she told me to get off the table before my free bikini wax because, "my next client is here." Typical South Florida BS customer service. Called to make my first "free" appointment as advertised on the website and confirmed over the phone. Upon check out receptionist said that didn't exist but could give me 50% off. Not wanting to be difficult I said OK, after proceeding to pay midway through transaction, I was told I had to Zelle for payment. After zelling receptionist, then clarified the payment I just sent for Zelle was for tip and not for the service. At this point, I was annoyed and found on their website the advertisement where it shows first wax free. She says OK but can't do anything about the fact that I just tipped 50% of the service. The company should really find themselves someone who is knowledgeable of the promotions offered by the company itself and can focus on one customer at a time upon checkout instead of trying to answer the phone and schedule other appointments while doing so. read more

Happened upon Suni years ago, and now will only come to her when I am here. She does an amazing job and is always up for good conversation. So this is the second time I walked out of this Uni K location with a smile on my face (yes, apparently I dig hot wax). I don't live near this neighborhood, however I happen to be here once every few weeks or so. I always love getting away and having a few hours in different parts of Miami, better yet how nice to get an errand done. In this case getting things all smooth! I realized that a wax was in order today and for the second time, I was greeted warmly as a walk in. My waxing expert took me within 5 minutes and as before the room was spotless, bright and airy. I've lived in London, Paris and Miami and been waxed in all of these places. And yet Katherine is BY FAR the best waxing professional I have ever had. I was apprehensive about coming to this location, mostly because I just moved back here and was super comfortable with my regular waxer in Brooklyn. I can't go back and forth for waxes so i had to find someone down here. I booked online with Sunny/Sunni because of the glowing reviews but then decided last minute to walk in since i was in the area. I walked in with the intentions of seeing Janet because, again, glowing reviews. The receptionist was super nice and booked me with Milly. I was like you know what?! Just go with it. I loved Milly! She was fast as hell. When she was done i was like already?! And it was less painful than usual (don't front like the green wax doesn't hurt too!). I swear she was done in .34 seconds. I walked in without an appointment and waited for about 2 minutes. Not bad huh? But it was a Monday so maybe that was why. This was my first time going to a Uni-K so I wasn't sure what to expect but I was a little surprised. The setting and decor reminds me of a doctor/dentist's office. When she was doing my eyebrows she finished by using the tweezer but I must confess I had to open my eyes because it didn't feel like a normal tweezer but it was, this woman had crazy tweeze skills. The prices are fair and the visit was fast. I'm not sure if I'd go back because I like chatty people and this place seems like they're not there to be talking to clients. Some people like that but I need at least a little conversation. read more

This is the ONLY place I'll go for waxing. Let's face it, waxing is not a pleasant experience but Uni.K.Wax does it right. The wax they use makes it less painful and these girls are QUICK. They get you in and out fast and the prices are unbeatable. Janet is amazing and makes you feel incredibly comfortable. Definitely request her if you want full/bikini waxes done. I've been to high-end spas with expensive price lists for waxing in the past. They don't even compare to Uni.K.Wax. I came to the South Miami Uni-K location since I was shopping in the area. I usually go to Brickell but figured I'd give them a try. Free parking in the back was a major plus. I called 5 minutes ahead to make sure they weren't busy and they told me to come right in. As soon as I got there they showed me to a room. You could tell that the girl that took care of me really cared that everything was perfect. She made sure to ask me if I was totally satisfied and didn't complain when I told her she missed some small hairs. My eyebrows look great I am really happy with the shape she gave them. The prices here are also very reasonable. I paid $25 for upperlip and eyebrows. The place I went before charged $20 just for eyebrows. Uni-k wax has shown consistany in service in at least two locations so I would recommend them 100%. read more

I was in the area for business that finished early on a Thursday afternoon. Knowing that this place was nearby and that I wanted to go to the pool that weekend, I called to see if they had appointments. Turns out, I could be seen in 15 minutes. At these types of shops it can be a little like playing russian roulette with who you'll draw as your esthetician. I lucked out with Milly. She was pleasant and personable, which made the experience actually fun. She wasn't as efficient as others I've tried, but I think that's because we had an interesting conversation going on. Everything else about this location is similar to the other Uni-K locations -- professional ambiance and good wax that doesn't require the paper strips. They also do not allow you to add tip to the credit card. My only complaint about this place is that it can be challenging to find parking and it can be a pain to drive here from Brickell. But it is open on Sundays, so it may work for me. read more

Though it's been quite a painful process (pun very much intended), I have finally found a place and specialist I can trust with these delicate matters. I stumbled upon this particular Uni K. Wax location on my way home and was lucky enough to be taken in on the spot as a walk-in with only about a 5-minute wait. Marielys (sp?) took care of me and not only worked quickly and efficiently but left me with beautiful brows and put me through very little pain, if any. I haven't gone anywhere since then. It's rare to find someone who can wax well and shape brows, so I'm going to give this place a 5 for their talent, professionalism, skill, and free parking in South Miami. :) read more

I'm writing the same review as I did for their Pinecrest location because my experiences at both have been almost identical... I was hesitant to get a full brazilian wax from someone who I hadn't known for any more than 2 minutes but they really make the experience comfortable (or as comfortable as you could possibly be!) I don't necessarily get the same person every time I go (I'm sure you can ask for an appt with the same person, I just don't care enough) but everyone I've dealt with is always professional and the place is VERY clean. The brazilian bikini wax is painful but it gets better as you go-- they also use wax with no strips which I like because I feel like the strips make it MORE painful. I have to give them credit for doing this! I could never wax someone else's *woohoo* and they do it all day and act like it's an eyebrow wax! Also, forgot to mention that their prices are very reasonable. I actually expected to pay more so I was pleasantly surprised. read more

I thought I had a great experience because the wax was pretty comfortable. I have been getting brazilians, under arm, leg and brow wax at Blue Mercury in DC for over ten years. I didn't realize how good I had it til I went to this place while on vacation. I missed my regular pre flight apt bc my train was late. the menu at Uni K is ridiculous. it means you think you are getting a deal but walk out after a brazilian or bikini w terrible hairs still all over your backside and upper thigh bc "that's a different item on the menu" I'd rather pay one price and not worry. However, that I can shave. What seals this 2star rating for me is THE HAIR GREW BACK WITHIN A WEEK. I might as well have shaved. I paid all that money and suffered thru a waxing experience where I had to strip down and was told no there was not a robe, or towel available, just lay their naked as a fish. all in all, it sucked. they are not thorough or effective. they are just cheap and fast. but it wasn't worth it. Janet is my girl!! First big tip: Once you find a waxer that you like, stick with em. Don't take chances on another one b/c they are all different. If you go and you don't like the particular lady that worked on you, try a different location or a differet esthetician until you find one that you vibe with. Once you do, it's nothing but MAGIC! UniKWax is the BEST waxing salon I have EVER been to. Period. They have nothing like this in LA where I live (the closest uniK is in San Diego). The prices are VERY reasonable, they are quick & efficient. The wax NEVER takes my skin off, and they rarely, if ever, leave hair behind. (Yes, they double dip. But everything else is super sanitary and clean, and I've been going there, geez, maybe 6 years and have never had any types of skin reactions as a result.) read more

I just moved to Miami and so I was really worried about trying out a new waxing place, but I am SO happy I found this place! 1) The green wax that they use is way better than the regular wax and the strips I am used to. It is far less painful and far cleaner. I had no wax left on my skin once I was finished. 2) I made an appointment on the website, which was so easy and convenient. 3) The waxer I scheduled an appointment with was Marielys. She was so friendly and professional. She did a wonderful job and I would definitely recommend her to anyone considering this location. 4) The prices were significantly cheaper than anywhere else I have been before. This is the worst customer service ever. My appointment was at 11:30, I arrived at 11:27 and the receptionist (Katt from Aventura) informed me that they could not attend me because the system said that the appointment it was at 11:15 am. When I showed her the proof of the photo that included the appointment at 11:30 am in a very bad way she said that in her system it appeared at 11:15 am and my appointment was already taken for someone else, she can not help me. I love getting waxes here they do a really good job really professional the waiting room was comfy I didn't even come in with an appointment and I was in an out in like 15 minutes. The waxing experience was great as well it didn't hurt at all and it was really quick. The lady who did my wax she was sweet and funny I really enjoyed her company during that time period. I love uni k. I have been a loyal customers for many years and this was my first unpleasant visit. With that said this review is based of this specific location. I booked an appointment online for a wax, came in and wasn't greeted until after one and a half conversations between the employees! Once I checked in I took a seat and was yelled at through the window to go to room 1 (or whatever #). This was so unprofessional and off putting to me. When giving a service it is expected that you greet your client and guide them to their prospective destination not YELL through a damn window!!! I have been getting waxed for over 10 years, always the same service, this time I walked out with half a fur ball on my cooch! Being that I was so displeased with the entire experience thus far I didn't care to request the esthetician actually do her job correct and complete! Will I continue as a customer of uni k? As a first-timer at Uni K., I went in for my appointment on a weekday evening for my bikini and waited no more than five minutes. The woman who took care of me, Iris, was very sweet and chatty keeping it as un-awkward as possible. The only down-side of this was that her English wasn't that great. Still, she did a FANTASTIC job and even asked me if I was fine with it when she was finished just in case she needed to re-do anywhere. What's even better is that compared to European Wax Center, this place is a hell of a lot cheaper, and faster. I'll be going here from now on! read more

Why has no one mentioned the double dipping? I went in for a full brazillian and had my eyes closed so tightly that I didn't even notice until halfway through that she kept dipping the SAME STICK into the giant vat of wax--SO disgusting. That alone is grounds for giving this place one star, but in case you need other reasons: 1. Very unfriendly front desk staff. They all just stared at me when I walked in, no hello or even a "can i help you?"...and they forgot to have me fill out the "how sensitive is your skin" form until after I had already been waxed. 2. Zero privacy. She took me to the room closest to the front desk...meaning when she returned after telling me to drop trou, the rest of the staff got a FULL view. Also, the walls don't go all the way to the ceiling...which would have been more irratating if I wasn't the only person in there. 3. Bad wax job. Not only were there still plenty of hairs, but she didn't even clean all the wax off! Plus, she went over the whole thing 4 or 5 times...and my hair isn't even that coarse. 4. Parking is difficult, unless you find it a breeze to back out onto US1. I just pulled an Austin Powers and did a 15-point turn to get out of there. Overall, a highly unpleasant experience. The only thing good about this place is that it's cheap. But if I've learned anything...it's not to go cheap on a brazillian wax. There's no way this place should be highly rated. read more
