I used to be terrified of Brazilians and would never get them, but I switched to Uni K Wax and they are so careful and considerate! I just went to Pinky and it was the most painless wax I've ever gotten. She was so sweet and chatted away all my nerves. I would say it's a pricey wax (I paid 87$ including tip) but they offer a 50% off first timers which is great to test it out! The studio is clean and private, and the receptionists are always polite. I used to like this place until recently. I Normally get lower legs done which is knee caps and down; but when there is left over wax I ask the waxer to wax 2 inches over the knee cap - which they are happy to do because a) there is barely any growth b) it needs one wax application. This time when I asked the waxer, she refused and acted like I asked her to jump over the cliff; even after I mentioned that this has never been a problem and they discard the remaining wax anyway. If I come back it will only be because I like their wax. But given the fact that they have gotten expensive and I have more options in the neighborhood I may never return just because they refused a small ask. read more

Terrible communication and customer service at the front desk. Worth not going just so I don't have to deal with them. last time I had to wait around for 30 mins to pay. This time I walked in on time and they did not have the courtesy to tell me my technician was running 20 mins behind. While they are extremely stringent about customer being even 5 minutes late it is appalling that they have no sense of timeliness. Mistakes happen but how difficult is to just let a customer who has been waiting for ten mins know that their appointment is late. read more

Last time I had some rush on my legs , but thought it was because I was wearing jeans right away . It was my birthday and I have been doing self care for 6 months prior, gyming, getting my skin right and also my bikini area because I had plans to be on a beach somewhere for my birthday. I came to this place to get a Brazilian wax, was SUPER excited! Ya'll, it's been a month and my poor bikini area haven been fighting for dear life with ingrown hairs every freaking where. Like the whole area, now I have spots everywhere and will have to start all over with getting that area cleared up again. it's HORRIBLE!!! They make me never want to wax again and I probably won't because of this experience. every day I'm attending to ingrown hairs and still a month later still ongoing and the spots they leave behind! Anita is the best waxer I've ever had for a Brazilian. She's thorough and does not miss a spot! I usually see her for my lip and underarms as well. I would highly recommend her. This location typically runs a few minutes late for their appointments but it is worth the wait. The staff is very friendly and has never given me a hard time when I need to change an appointment or when I'm running late myself. One of the best things about Uni K is their points program! I've saved a good amount of money over the years just from booking online alone. You get 2000 points ($2) every time you book an appointment online. That adds up over time and is a nice surprise when you have enough points saved up for a free service. I'm new to NY and just got finished with my first Brazilian wax here. I had a regular place back home that I loved. I had tried other places in various other cities, but nothing ever compared. (European Wax Center was consistently the absolute worst.) So I was worried I would have a hard time finding a spot here. Asha was great! And because I was a first timer, front and back Brazilian was only $22.99, which is amazing. And they also have a rewards program. The wax is probably the gentlest I've ever experienced yet it totally does the job, and Asha was very thorough. At the end she asked me if I saw any hairs she had missed, and then she got those ones too! The only weird part for me was that I'm used to rocking back into cannonball pose for the back side, and here I had to flip onto my stomach and hold my cheeks. But that was no biggie. 10/10 would recommend. This is my new spot :) read more

I was quite disappointed with the way the person at the front counter treated me tonight. I arrived for my appointment, and the waxer was running late. The woman at the desk told me that the person with the waxer was getting a "head to toe" service, and she didn't know when it would be done. I was surprised she mentioned the service the client was getting. Then, she asked me if I wanted to see another waxer. I told her that I'd wait for my appointment. This is a very personal experience, and I wanted to see the person I booked the appointment with. At this point, the woman made a face and said that they close at 8. I ignored her, since I am never late for my appointments, and they will charge you if you are late. I have been a customer for years, and this person at the counter is new, but she needs to work on her customer service. Lastly, when I went to pay, I told her that I was paying on the app. She still processed the check on her system and asked me to tap my card. I told her I was processing it on the app. I was confused and canceled the order on her pad, since it seemed like I would pay 2x. She didn't understand the payment through the app, and tried to say it hadn't gone through. It finally showed on her side, and I left. However, the whole reason to have the app is to not have to stop and deal with the counter person. Please, train your new hires to treat customers better and understand the forms of payment. This was over $100, and I expect to be treated with respect. The waxers are amazing, but the front desk attendants need better training and customer service. read more

I am not happy with my first waxing. I use a circular razor on my chin only so some short hairs are fine to see. BUT, my jawline has long hairs that should have been captured in the waxing this morning. I do not recommend this place. Too hurried and do not use, or give you a magnifying mirror to check out the spots they missed. I now have to pluck many fine hairs on my jawline. Also, as I told the person and wrote on the form, I have sensitive skin to products. I don't care if the main ingredient is ALOE, ASK FIRST if you can apply some lotion. Between the wax being a little too hot and the lotion, my chin is bright red. Lastly, I was scheduled with Shova (put name in my phone) on 5/24 when I went in to book the appointment. Even though I sometimes cheat on Uni K with European Wax Center, I always come back to them for good reason. I've only been to their UES outpost but I've only had good experiences at this location and have yet to find a better quality waxing service than I get with them for the same price. The waxing rooms are warm, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. I love the fact that they use hard wax instead of muslin cloth as I find it to be far less painful and that they keep a fan on so that it dries faster. While there is no such thing as a pain-free bikini wax, this comes close and all of the waxers are kind and professional throughout the service. Are usually go with Bindu but she was off tonight so I had Angela instead. She did a great job and was clearly very experienced. I was in and out in 15 minutes. This was my first time going to a wax franchise. The waiting area was very clean. Front desk staff very nice. Since it was my first time i did get a discount and paid only $25. I seen Crystal she's very nice and knows what she is doing. The only down fall was they double dip. Yes it hard wax but my regular wax person does not double dip. I don't know who was seen before me and if they're clean or not infected with anything . So i don't think i will visit again. read more
