The receptionist seemed very hesitant to accept a walk-in, making me feel more like an inconvenience than a paying customer. It felt like bare-minimum effort: my nails are uneven, the water for the pedicure with ice cold , and my feet are still rough. It's a shame because this used to be my absolute favorite spot. First time trying this place. I sit down and the technician asks me if I want square or round nails. I reply I want them square with round sides. She responds in annoyed, loud voice, "square or round?" To add insult to injury there is literally a printed diagram next to me taped to the manicure table with options for nail shape and one of the options reads" square with oval sides". Cuticles were left uneven, and whatever tool they use to push back cuticles looked like it scraped my entire nail. My nails definitely felt weaker, as I felt them right before polish went on. The nail polish was put on in gobs. Because this was my first time trying this salon and I didn't know they ask $30 minimum for credit cards and request you leave cash tips. If this is taken seriously I wish I was told at the door. My total was around $19 and I only had a credit card. Anyway, I ask if I can use Venmo to maybe try and meet them halfway. The technician answered no and started laughing. For about 5 minutes after this the technician continued laughing and speaking loudly with her coworkers across the room. I don't know if they were laughing at me or my lack of cash but it was really inappropriate and made the experience even worse than it already started out as. I've been going to Sundays studio and although it's more than 2x the price, at the very least I've never encountered this kind of obnoxious behavior and on the plus side, I don't leave smelling like a chemical cloud. Sopped in for a pedicure without an appointment around 1pm and was taken directly back after choosing a nail color. The salon wasn't too busy upon arrival but a few minutes after sitting down three of the four charis next to me were full and when I left all of them were. Service was great, was offered a glass of champange after getting situated. The pedicure was nice wiht the warm leg wrap and the massage. Came here randomly with a friend just to get a hard gel extension removal done. I thought they did an amazing job! They only charged $15 (half the amount I was quoted at another location I went to get them on), and he spent a good amount of time filing my nails down without my nails overheating or getting too thin. Before I left, he provided me with a nail file to make sure they were perfect. I honestly never write reviews, but I was very disappointed in the results. For $110 dollars I got a spa pedicure and manicure with regular polish and a French pedicure. The foot spa was good! No complaints with that part! However when the cut, shaped, and polished my nails it was very sloppy. My nails were not buffed nor were my cuticles trimmed well (I asked for them to do that specifically after I saw they didn't), and she did it again but my cuticles weren't pushed back at all so the nail polish already looks grown out. My toes look all wonky because they were not cut to look even. Which is just very disappointing for $110 dollars (plus 20% tip) Giving 2 stars because my girlfriend's nails look nice and the people were nice. Okay, so while I'm disappointed in the way the nails looks a week and a half later, I think the initial manicure and experience was great! So whole treatment was solid and I don't have a picture, but my nails looked great for the first week. But then started to chip at the edges, which you can see in the pictures. Usually my gel manicure lasts 2/3 weeks without chipping, so sucks that after a week this did. Otherwise very clean and overall okay experience. Would consider going back. read more

Update: Maggie, the manager, took my concern very seriously and reached out to fix the situation. While I am personally not willing to go back to the salon, I do majorly respect that they reached out to me both on Yelp and by phone, which meant they had to locate me in their system. That level of seriousness and her apology made me feel heard, so I wanted to share this in my review. REE Nail & Spa disappointed me. For context, I had been coming here since I moved to the neighborhood in 2019. At the beginning of this year, I was beginning to notice a sharp decline in the quality of service. I will post pictures of the last time I came as well as today, which was the final straw for me. Two stars because the mani/pedi looks decent from afar, but abysmal customer service and quality for the higher price point. That being said, they manage to remain incredibly popular, so I'm thinking they do a better job the more money you pay. I just get a regular mani/pedi, so maybe their expertise and time would rather be spent on an acrylic or something else. The mani/pedi combo here is $54, and that's if you pay cash (it's more expensive when you pay card). The last time I went to REE, I was taken to do my manicure upstairs where the woman completely rushed through it (reading other reviews, this is a trend). The lighter purple is the manicure and you can see in the pictures that they left the lotion gunk under my nails and the manicure looks visibly terrible. It also managed to smudge when I got home (10 minute walk), so I complained and went back that same day to get them redone. I didn't post a review because they did redo it, and that was not great, but better. Today, I made an appointment at 5pm. Helen was the person who worked on my nails. I didn't feel rushed until the end of my service, when there was someone else waiting (who was again, getting a more expensive service). Helen was a bit rough when pushing back my cuticles, so there were a couple times where my foot jerked a bit from pain. For the manicure, the issue arose at the end when Helen was trying to be done with me. As you can see from the pictures, the edge work on the polish is pretty sloppy. I asked her to clean up the most egregious one, and she preceded to do so using, not a q-tip or brush, but HER NAIL. She dipped her nail into the acetone and scraped at the side. As you can see from the picture, she actually cut my skin, which I didn't notice until I was home and wondering why that finger was stinging. She also knocked my nail with her hand and I had to ask her twice to redo it. They usually provide like a minute massage after the service, but I had no massage. No one offered to help me remove the paper between my toes or to help me in general so I didn't have to use my nails when it was time to leave. No thank you or anything upon exiting the establishment. I don't plan to return here, and wanted to put out a warning that if you're looking to do something basic, go elsewhere. read more

I have been getting SNS/dip manicures for more than a year now and overall, this was not a bad experience, but I've had better. Cleanliness: they did a great job with sanitation during Covid. Everyone was masked. There was plexiglass between the manicurist and the customer at each station. They used new files for each customer, and they did cover the foot spas with plastic before filling with water. Atmosphere: Small but modern, cute and clean. They didn't have any bonuses though - no offerings of tea, water or drinks like I have experienced at other places. Nail Services: The SNS manicure was comparable in price to other salons nearby. Good selection of colors. The manicure included cuticle trimming, oil treatment, and a quick hand massage. That being said, it was different in that she used a nail file rather than a nail drillbit to file my nails before the dipping; many may prefer this, but my nails come off so easily if not properly filed. My nails typically last until I get them redone 3-4 weeks later but low and behold, one of my nails have already fallen off. Customer service: the women were very sweet and competent. Edit: they did offer to fix my nail, but by the next day before I could go, 4 more nails came off! This is 2 weeks in, and has never happened to me before. Overall, good salon experience, mediocre quality of SNS nails. read more

Manicure was just ok , a hair got in one nail and The woman who did the manicure (and toes) told me that she'd remove the hair from the nail after the nail dried, which isn't possible. Iris is attentive, friendly, and does a terrific job, from the extensive pedicure to working out knots in a chair massage while my nails are drying. Sanitary. Temperatures are taken upon arrival and masks are required. The space is meticulously clean, and spacious, allowing safe and comfortable distancing. Each mani - pedi tool used is new or sanitized, removed from a sealed bag. The employees wear uniforms, and Iris, the woman who I request, always has her nails well done. Seeing a salon employee presents well adds a level of professionalism, cleanliness and meticulousness I appreciate, and which is very important to me now. The prices are higher than basic nail salons, but well worth it for the sanitary practices and beautiful two level spa location. My standards for a salon have increased substantially since the pandemic, and paying more for exceptional, sanitary services in a spotless, sanitary location is absolutely worth paying a little more. A friend recommended this place to me because they have a reward system and her nails always looked good. I gave it a try the other day but was not impressed. First of all, their reward system works only if you put money in advance -- minimal $300. Whether cash or not, you need to pay taxes. They only offer mani & pedi package prices from Monday to Thursday. Separately, their gel is about $40 and regular pedi is about $37. Their price point is about average on the Upper East Side. I had Suzuki (or Suki?) for my gel & pedi that day. I'm usually a forgiving person so a bleeding nail wouldn't bother me. However, she gave me at least 3... and it still hurt after three days. If she was detail-oriented and tried to get things done right, I wouldn't say a thing. That day I had to remind her of several places that she overlooked -- the shapes of the nails after cutting & filing and the spilling nail color. I thought about giving them a second chance even though my first experience didn't go quite well, but after I got home, I noticed even more uneven nail color under the light. This was the last straw. Monday, March 20th: I worked with Yanna. I came in the afternoon when it was not busy at all. She rushed through my manicure. Literally I was done before these ladies who were already sitting and being serviced with gel manicures. She did not offer any cuticle oil or a 3rd coat even though her colleagues offer their clients that. I had to ask for cuticle oil because the area around my nails looked dry and cracked. Then when it's time to check out she tells me the color I requested was $3 more because it's creamy. I paid and tipped however how unprofessional not to say anything when I was choosing the color. Previous visit: In a previous time at REE I asked for designs on my nails. Showed the picture and unfortunately Cindy was unable to do it and I didn't find that out until during her attempts. I have no issue with paying for great service however unfortunately I have not received it here. read more

I love this place so much I'm never going back to my old nail salon. The experience here is exceptional! I got SNS with extensions and my friend got SNS and a pedicure. Make an appointment in advance because it does get busy, thankfully we did. The attention to detail and how beautiful they look plus quick back massage to finish it off blew me away. I did the Green Tea pedicure today with gel. The pedicure was okay, and the massage included felt nice. However, the soles of my feet still feel a bit dry. The vibe/environment of the salon was quiet and felt calm. The worst part is that when it came to pay, I initially tipped, and the receptionist yanked the receipt from my hand and said "oh people normally tip 18% or 20%" and proceeded to scribble out the amount and change it to an 18% tip. It's pretty unacceptable and I won't be returning or recommending this place to others. read more

I've been to this nail place quite few times before and never had any complaints. However, my last visit was the worst ever. I was in the neighborhood and decided to stop by without an appointment. My nails were in the terrible condition and I did hurt one of my fingers few days before that. I had powder dip from previous manicure. I told the person who was doing my nails that it needs to be soaked before being removed and I asked her to be careful. She insisted on removing my powder dip with a metro card without soaking my nails and I felt my nail beds being ripped and damaged. She went with nail drill on the highest setting and I had to ask her multiple times to not do that cause my nails were hurting so bad at this point due to the way she removed them. She did not soaked my cuticles before removing them either. It's also been only four days since I got my new powder dip and it's already cracked and chipped on multiple nails. I don't think I will be coming back and to be honest, I think nail technician that was doing my nails needs to be retrained at least but from all of the employees that were in there, she was the one that conveniently did not had a name tag on. read more
