This was a cute place. I came up in June for a friend's wedding, and the venue was pretty great for a wedding. California had that insane heat wave then, so it reached 100+ degrees that day. Despite that, the fans inside the chapel did an ok job keeping people cool. Since I'm only about two, two and a half hours away from Sonora, I chose to go home after the wedding and reception, so I can't speak to the accommodations here. Keep in mind that if you're coming here for a wedding, the closest food options in Downtown Sonora are 15-20 minutes away by car, and these roads are winding and hilly, so keep that in mind. read more

I was just calling to get pricing on using them as a venue. Their website was not working on my phone. The woman who answered was condescending and rude, talking to me as if I was a child and not worth their time. She proceeded to slowly explain to me how to see the prices, despite me telling her several times the website was not displaying the prices on my end. After her cold tone and reluctance to talk (despite the website encouraging to call) I hung up. She then proceeded to call me back from a different number, with an even more cruel tone. Shabby chic. It's like Pottery Barn meets Sonora, in the HARDEST to find location ever. Balloons and sign be damned, we still couldn't find this little place. After 30 minutes of driving the same loop and scary road, and one conversation with a robe clad lady feeding her horses, we found our way...iPhone was no help. Ladies, those heels and wedges you packed, leave them where they are. Bring a cute pair of flip flops and feel defeated. This lovely little location is on a hill. I'm not messing around, a real life hill. We were here for two occasions. The pre-wedding BBQ and the wedding. The surrounding was very peaceful and earthy. From the looks of both occasions, the facility doesn't do that much. My lovely cousin (and her now hubby) seemed to have prepped tons of stuff on their own - the entire BBQ for example. Unless the staff was undercover family, I didn't see them once that afternoon/evening. The chapel is gorgeous. Perfect setting for a low-key wedding. Not a lot of seating, but they arrange outdoor viewing as well. After Friday night, I had no idea what to expect, but it was so serene. Candles in mason jars, twigs twisted in pretty ways, and a old barn feeling, but clean and no cob webs. There is a vast amount of property, which the happy couple used generously. We had appetizers and drinks in a little veranda area. We sat at picnic style table and chairs and enjoyed said drinks and treats. Right next to that was another little gazebo, which they used as the photo booth section. Then up the hill was the reception hall. Plain, and maybe drab from the outside, but inside it was beautifully decorated just like the cute little chapel. I don't recall ever really seeing any of the staff working, with the exception of the wedding planner lady and the three or four catering staff who were manning the buffet lines. So I'm not sure if this was a problem for the happy couple, but it didn't really have any effect on myself?!? From a person watching the union of two people, this place was great. Besides the fact that Google Maps and a family of four could barely find it. Once you do, you're golden! Seeing a happy couple get married is always special, but surrounded by a pottery barn catalogue makes it that much more beautiful! read more

I went here for a wedding just a few weeks ago and what an amazing and beautiful venue! It has a rustic barn type feel which if that is what you are looking for then this is the place for you! It was breathtaking and the wedding itself was beautiful. It is a little hot during August but that didn't take away from the beauty of the venue at all. Outside of the barn there is a area for dancing and there is a pond with tons of Lilly pads and a deck that goes right into the middle of it. There were lots of pretty lights and then up the hill is another area where the dinner was and it was also just as amazing! Union Hill Inn is a popular wedding destination near Sonora. The facility is more like a traditional camp with buildings and lodges scattered across the property. Most of the facility has been upgraded with lots of beautiful details typical in most modern wedding magazines. Their wedding package includes lodging for the wedding party for two nights including breakfast and use of the chapel and dining room. I attended my cousin's wedding here and was not super impressed with the facility. It is very difficult to find with no real signage on the road. This place is extremely difficult to navigate with disabled or limited mobility guests requiring a lot of effort to access the buildings. Upscale country sounds good until you are sitting on wooden benches and using rustic restrooms. Nevertheless, this place is very popular with the destination fancy wedding crowd - especially those in their roaring 20's. The grounds are very beautiful making for excellent photography and will make any bride happy. Everyone else will just have to suffer. read more

Every detail was perfect during our wedding weekend. From the cute cottages to the breakfasts that she offers to the beautiful grounds. I highly recommend Terri as your wedding coordinator. I cannot say enough about how incredible Union Hill Inn is. Absolutely everything about this venue and their staff is incredible. As a venue, this place offers an immense amount of flexibility to your needs. The chapel, of course, offers an incredible place for your wedding ceremony. It's by far the show-stopper, and getting married in there was everything I hoped for. What I didn't expect was how much I would love and become attached to every other place on the property. We spent a good amount of time in the Dairy Barn. We had our rehearsal dinner in there (about 25 people, very comfortably), breakfast/brunch on Saturday and Sunday, and a post-reception party after our wedding. It was the perfect hang out for us all weekend long. The reception hall was gorgeous and easy to navigate. And the rooms! Everyone that got to stay on the property absolutely loved their room. The decor and charm in each little place really makes this place special. The staff here at Union Hill are nothing less than extraordinary. Each person was incredibly kind, thoughtful and helpful. They all clearly take tremendous pride in the property. It shows in the way they care for it and those that visit. The breakfasts provided by the Inn were scrumptious! If there was one thing that I could add to make the weekend even better it would be a clear outline of do's, don'ts and guidelines. There is so much to this property that you can easily overlook something spectacular. Barbara and Don give their guests a ton of freedom throughout the weekend, and really don't come around too much. We were weary of using something we shouldn't or violating a policy we were unaware of. Perhaps this really worked to their benefit as we in turn treated the property as we would our own. This is, after all, their home and it should be treated as such. A few tidbits: The property is dog friendly! We brought our pup and he had a great time. Barbara & Don have a dog onsite (Ginger) who is very friendly. Make sure to provide your vendors and guests with very clear directions on how to get to the property and exactly where on it to meet you. It can be very daunting if it is their first time there. Bring your walking shoes! The property is large, and even with golf carts, you will do quite a bit of roaming. Hire a Day of Coordinator. See note above about large property! Having someone that knew this place intimately (Terri Neher of Events Extraordinaire in my case) made the entire weekend so easy! A beautiful venue, with a lot of hidden treasures & extras! My husband & I married here & couldn't had a better experience. We stayed at the inn a year before the wedding to take engagement pictures and get an idea of what to expect on our wedding day (weather, sunset, lighting, etc...). Barbara is extremely accomodating and we had free reign for our pictures and exploring the venue. (There are many possibilities and items to use that were included with our 55 hour package. It was worth our time to check things out & saved our pocket books from unnecessary purchases.) The breakfast in the morning was amazing! Leading up to the wedding we were able to show our florist & DJ the space & decide how to best use our reception space! The weekend of our wedding, we decorated the day before, and danced the night away with our friends & family. The day of the wedding ran quite smoothly, since we had prepared the day before. Barbara even brought breakfast to me, so the groom wouldn't see me. It was raining that day and she even brought umbrellas for the wedding party to use! We were married 11-11-11 & still have people commenting to us how amazing our wedding was, the beautiful location, and the fun everyone had! My husband and I got married at Union Hill in February and couldn't be happier! I'd seen a picture of the chapel on Pinterest years ago and absolutely fell in love with it. I tried to keep my expectations low when we finally saw the property in person, and was blown away. It is just as gorgeous as it looks in the pictures! Barbara and Don were so warm and helpful and I am amazed at their ability to run the inn and all the business operations on their own. In addition to the chapel and reception hall, there is SO MUCH going for this property. We had about 25 family members stay at the inn with us, enjoyed brunch on both Saturday and Sunday of the wedding weekend, and to top it off, they recently added a bonfire area with great seating and blankets on hand if it gets chilly. Unfortunately the weather didn't hold out long enough for us to enjoy most of the outdoor spaces. Especially when considering prices in the Bay Area for other wedding venues, Union Hill is an incredible choice! We were so happy with our weekend there and the guests are still talking about how beautiful it was, even in spite of the rain we got. PRO TIP: Union Hill is booked out for 2 years, so for brides that don't want to have their wedding so far out, start following their Facebook page. They post cancellations there, so if you follow their page, you'll receive alerts when they post anything. If you see a cancellation that works for you, call and/or email as fast as you can! Nice place, beautiful scenery hiding a venue that is in desperate need of repairs. Barbara, the lady who coordinates weddings and such is a real pain in the butt to work with. She expects everyone to do whatever she says wether she paid you for it or not. If you're not willing to kiss her ass then you get removed from the vendor list. I couldn't care less because I'll never deal with this place again. She may be gracious to the guests but vendors, not at all and most of them are too afraid to tell her no for fear of being blacklisted. read more

No better B&B anywhere...that I have stayed anyway. Barbara and Don are the most gracious and hospitable people and truly make you feel at home. We were there a few years ago and if I could, I would go at least once a year; however, we couldn't until now and I can't wait to see Babara and Don again. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous and the grounds are breathtaking. It is a picture-perfect place for a wedding and we really enjoyed our last stay and are looking forward to our trip in May this year. Barbara is also the BEST chef, and most humble about it too. My son got married here 9 years ago. And the venue was beautiful. Just had a family get married just recently & was amazed on how unreasonable the owners were with my friend . Complained about everything. They did not give there refund back due to made up accusations. Said they used an outside kitchen. We were not even outside. This venue is beautiful, but it's not accommodating. There is so much work. They require a Wedding Planner. But not a cleaning crew. Save your money and headache & find a venue that honors and works with their clients. Customer service is terrible. Why spend $$$ so much & deserve terrible service? While this venue is beautiful at first site, the owner is not keeping up with the repairs and up keep of the property. Employees are elderly and are required to do more than they are capable to do. We just had our daughters wedding there on 10/22/22. We were suppose to receive our deposit back in 2 weeks, now almost 4 weeks, I had to contact owner myself. After contacting owner she replied with a list of items we were being charged for, with absolutely no proof of her claims. Most were false claims, except for one item which we are willing to accept responsibility. She falsely charged us over for people who ate both days of breakfast ( which is included in the venue fee) of $560. She is charging us damage done by a vendor whom we did not hiring that tried to delivery item by mistake. Claiming they took out branches on their over grown trees and damaged a light post. These are false accusation and they are stealing our money. Upon arriving to the wedding venue it was not at all ready for a weekend event, absolutely disappointed in this iconic venue, listed in many wedding magazine. The positive reviews must be dated back long ago, when the venue was properly taken care of. The contract your required to sign is not complete, does not list things included accurately. On the tour we were told items were included in venue fee, only to find after meeting with wedding coordinator, the contract is misleading. After many visits to the venue prior to wedding we began to notice many things that neEd to be addressed ( listed below) made many attempts to get items fixed. Some where, but most were not. Friday evening rehearsal dinner tables were filthy dirty, and we had to clean everything before setting up for rehearsal dinner. trashes were full of garbage. - we had to last minute ( day before wedding) move everything indoors. However out doors where the wedding was suppose to be held, dirty tables were left out everywhere. Ladders and gardening equipment were left all over property. Nothing was tidied up for the weekend wedding. After being told the venue is our from 12 noon on Friday. - apon arriving to property, there was a tour taking place and people were going in and out of our rooms. We watched this happen. - The grounds were still being taking care of, shrub clippings everywhere, people gardening out front, gardening tools out, people still cleaning. - In the hall someone was sanding and staining the floor. - We had to clean the entire Chapel as it was filthy! All the chandlers had cob-webs, dead bugs. Stain glass windows were full of cob webs and bugs. Hornet nests with live hornets flying around on the ceiling inside of chapel. - the right side of the chapel electrical did not work, we notified Erin ( wedding coordinator) and she was told that a worker would come look at the breakers, they may have tripped, because the electrical is old. At 1pm on wedding day no one showed up to look at electrical. The chapel is the reason we chose the venue, bride was heart broken. - We also had Erin ( wedding coordinator call owner personally to express the fact the The Pearl, (which the bride and groom stayed in wedding night) was filthy, the carpet had leaves, dirt, hair ( when you racked your hand over carpet, it came up. Many different colors of hair) evident the room had not been cleaned for months. - Both the Willow and Parlor rooms had heaters that were not working, and also lights that did not work. - we were told a few RV's were welcomed, and could park anywhere on the grounds ( but no hook ups were allowed) we had 3 RV's on site, the day we set up the wedding, we we're constantly being harassed that the RV's can't be parked in the places we had them. One RV was used to transport all the decor for wedding. -Bridal Cottage had vines growing through the walls/roof. One of the items, we will take responsibility for....one of the guest in a room got sick the night if the wedding and vomited in a bed. The next morning the bed was strip and bedding was placed outside the the room on porch, inside was cleaned up the best of our ability. But Union Hill provides nothing, no extra garbage bags for trash, no cleaning supplies of any kind. (If your renting a wedding venue with lodging, minor things like this should be absorbed in the cost of the venue, vomiting is out of anyones control) To be charged $300 to replace bedding is ridiculous. - Road House toilets didn't flush correctly, Air conditioner leaked, coffe maker took 2 hours to brew a pot of coffee. - we were told day of the wedding that we were not able to do certain things, after getting permission in advance. I can not say enough of how poor this wedding venue conducted business, false accusations, and are robbing their costumers of money. I however can not say enough great things about the wedding coordinator, who was kind, accommodating, an advocate and helped us transition from a all outside wedding to a indoor wedding in less than 24 hours. read more

Beautiful place, love the on site cabins which really came in handy because my father needed a place to rest after the ceremony. They are pet friendly which really helped because my daughter had her dog in the wedding. There are so many places on the property to get great pictures. We just returned home from a wonderful weekend at the Union Hill Inn. It was wonderful. Our accommodations for the weekend were perfect - jacuzzi in our room was such a treat. My husband officiated in a wedding while we were there. The Chapel there, as well as the theme throughout the Inn, is rustic yet thoughtfully decorated with burlap and white lights and so much to make it special. The reception room was perfect for the crowd and the serving crew were wonderful. It was a very special weekend for us. read more

It was the first thing that popped up and I was immediately mesmerized by the pictures of this gorgeous place. We narrowed our venue search down to 3 because I really thought I needed to have other options when it came to our big day. We went to UHI first and even before we got out of the car, I reminded my fiancé that we needed to see the other two venues to make an informed decision. Well that concept went out the window as soon as I saw the bridal cottage. I was absolutely in love! Barbara and Don are wonderful hosts and we loved their hospitality. And the brunches both days --- the food was amazing!! Our wedding weekend (11/19/16) was everything we thought it would be and so much more. We cannot stop talking about it, looking at the videos and pictures and our guests feel the exact same way. We were so excited to have our wedding here back in March of 2020. It seemed like the perfect fit for our wedding and our style. We had all our vendors set in place, but 2 weeks before the date there were federal mandates of no group gatherings and we were forced to cancel our wedding. We were not issued any sort of refund from this property! We are talking losing 11k from something completely out of our control, because "a cancellation is a cancellation". Us, being business owners even approached the owner seeking middle ground, some sort of compromise where we could even help the business out and cover any overhead costs for there not being a wedding there that weekend. We were the very first wedding cancelled due to covid. I would not recommend this business or property to anyone after these experiences. We are heartbroken and feel completely taken advantage of. I love this small town and it sickens me to think of horrible people like this running their businesses unethically and taking such great advantage of young couples. Anthony Melchiorri, if you're reading this: Please help Union Hill Inn!!! This inn and wedding venue is the perfect candidate for Hotel Impossible. From what I saw online, UHI was my favorite wedding venue, and I was rooting for this to be the place where we'd seal our vows. We set out to love UHI. We came a looong way to see the venue, and I was crushed when not only did we not like it, but we kind of hated it. :/ Like so many others, my fiancé and I fell in love with images of the chapel, which is beautiful in person but, sadly, is Union Hill Inn's only redeeming quality. So, what's wrong with Union Hill Inn??? - Simply put, the property appears to be neglected. It is extremely unkempt and outdated! Messy landscaping, overgrown weeds, dingy furnishings indoor and out, kitschy/cheap decor, questionable bed linens... I couldn't imagine getting ready for my wedding day, donning a white gown, and sitting on any of the furniture, much less sleeping in any of those beds for the weekend. I honestly would be embarrassed to invite family to travel to my wedding and then ask them to stay on the property. - Union Hill Inn does not provide a property manager to help you and your guests throughout the weekend with maintenance repairs, unless it's "an emergency". When you rent the venue for your 55 hours of exclusive use, you're on your own. A toilet clogs? You plunge it. A lightbulb goes out? You replace it. As a bride, those are the last things I'd want to think about on my wedding weekend!!! And with the shabby state of things at UHI, there was NO WAY I could agree to that! - Multiple construction/reno projects. This is both a good thing and a bad thing. When we visited, they were expanding one of the suites- Great. But they were also putting money into building an amphitheater and a hops garden. Meanwhile, so many things on property are in disrepair!! I couldn't help but think they were investing their money to add things when what they should be doing is repairing what they have! And, as bride, a MAJOR red flag was that they couldn't guarantee the state of the property for the date of my wedding. They couldn't (and wouldn't) guarantee that there wouldn't be multiple in-progress construction projects when we arrived for the wedding. - The inn itself is like a dream... but not a good one. More like a nightmare. You know, the kind where you're navigating an interior, and doors seem to lead to hallways that lead to a room that lead to a staircase that lead to another room that lead to another hallway... "Aaaah! Wake uuuup!" - The proximity to the main road. Now this is something they can't fix, and with the size of the property, UHI has the potential to be a real wedding oasis. With improvements to the property, this venue can be absolutely AMAZING. Sonora is absolutely charming and this area is incredibly unique. I was astonished to see all of these glaringly negative features when we visited, because weddings at UHI have appeared in major magazines and they seemed to be gorgeous events. The truth is, there are some cool photo ops on the property, and it just goes to show how good photography can make miracles happen. We visited UHI in February of 2014. Yes, a year ago. So why I am writing this review now? Since delving into wedding planning, I've realized just how important reviews are, especially since I'm planning a destination wedding and can't always see things/meet with vendors in person. Hopefully this review will help you make the right decision, but my real goal with this review is to reach the owner of UHI who can heed comments like this and make changes for the better! Union Hill Inn is all inclusive- The ceremony (the chapel is to die for!), reception hall and cabins for guests/bridal party to stay in for the whole weekend are all included! One thing I always disliked about weddings is how quickly they flew by- Union Hill combats this by turning your wedding into a full weekend affair. Everyone raved about the venue and the food all weekend (they cook you breakfast!). The property is GORGEOUS and the staff is friendly. Dogs are welcome- we brought our dog for the weekend and she LOVED it. I cannot have enough great things to say about this place. We got married at Union Hill Inn on Halloween and it was such a wonderful venue for the whole weekend! We planned our wedding from LA so we only saw the venue a couple of times before the wedding, but it all worked out. The main reasons we chose this place it that it let us have the venue for the whole weekend, we could stay on site, it was close to our families in the Bay Area, and we could bring our dogs. I highly recommend having a coordinator, especially if you don't live in the immediate area. I initially tried to contact Barbara through email and wasn't getting a response, so I finally called and she let me know that they had two dates left for 2015, May which was only a couple of months away, or Halloween. I was a little apprehensive to get married on Halloween but it turned out to be a great time, beautiful weather and just a hint of California fall colors. While we were planning, the inn burnt down and we had to revise who would stay with us on the venue, but we got great reviews of the local hotels from our guests. We used a lot of vendors that were not on the recommended list and the owners were happy to let us use them with approval. Friday night we had costume party in the barn instead of a traditional rehearsal dinner. We arrived on Friday and broke up into teams (it helped to have a lot of people) to set up the reception hall, barn, and chapel. The reception hall takes A LOT of time to set up, but it's so nice to know it is all done. Renting golf carts was a huge help. Saturday was amazing thanks to the behind the scene working of the wedding coordinator. Everyone started out with breakfast and then the guys got ready in the barn while we got ready in the bridal cottage. We got shuttles and event insurance (just in case). All the guest were very grateful for the shuttles and it made the party more fun. We utilized the patio outside the chapel for the cocktail hour. For the reception we used the hall and people also spent time outside since the weather was beautiful. At the end of the night we met down at the fire pit. The Sunday brunch was soooo good. It was the perfect ending to our weekend and it was nice to see our families one more time before we headed home. read more

After reading the first review, I thought people looking for UHI reviews might need to hear a less than scathing view of this establishment. My fiance (now husband) and I were looking for a weekend wedding place for our April 14th wedding in California. Since we had a lot of family coming from out of state, I wanted a place where a lot of people could stay. After seeing a beautiful wedding on 100 Layer Cake that happened at UHI, I immediately called Barbara, the innkeeper, to see about availability. She was very helpful over the phone and sent me lists of vendors that had worked there before. My family and I visited in July to tour the grounds, and we loved every bit of it! I was feeling ill that day, and Barbara took me to the main house and fed me toasted crumpets with peanut butter. It definitely eased my stress a bit. We booked the venue, and I'm so glad we did! We arrived on a Thursday night, and we began set up for the wedding on Friday morning. The rooms were lovely, and my bridesmaids and I stayed in the Willow Room (my mom stayed in the Bridal Cottage since there was only 1 bed). The Willow was comfy (gas fireplace!) and spa-like, and has a jacuzzi tub and separate shower. Every room on the property has its own theme. It was so fun to explore and check out the fun little vintage details in each room. The Groom's Coop did have some issues with water in the shower, but it was fixed as soon as it was reported. Breakfast on Friday and Saturday morning included milk, granola, yogurt, eggs, bacon, pancakes, hash browns, etc. and every morsel of it was delicious! The barn was the perfect location to have our rehearsal dinner. It was warm and inviting, and spacious enough to hold about 40-50 people comfortably. We used a lot of props from the prop shed behind the chapel. There's a lot of stuff in there to use! It definitely helped our budget, especially since we were definitely on one. On the day of the wedding, Barbara and Don helped get guests from the parking area to the chapel, which they do for every wedding. Our wedding day couldn't have been more perfect. On Sunday morning, we had breakfast and gift opening in the main house, and were treated to about 6 different types of juices, blueberry smoothies, belgian waffles, fresh cream and berries, 3 types of skillet potatoes (red, sweet, and gold), a pasta dish, honey ham, eggs, and a strawberry and banana trifle. I saw many family members going back for seconds and thirds! (she did tell us that one dish had nuts in it, and she made sure to tell parents of little ones just in case someone was allergic) Cleanup was super easy, and someone from the Inn was already up at the hall coordinating the cleanup. The whole weekend was relaxing, Barbara was helpful and incredibly nice, and everyone had a good time! If you google Union Hill Inn wedding pictures, you will see a few weddings that have happened there. You will definitely be able to see why this is one of the most beautiful wedding venues around! I had my wedding here in June of 2014. What a dream it was!!! All of my guests gushed over the property and the chapel. It was everything I could of ever dreamed! If you are looking for a warm loving host/inn keeper.. you wont find it in Barbara.. She is very busy and she doesn't hide it. Some of the rooms are a little..... ummmm.... how can i say this nicely?? umm.. rustic....ummm distressed?? dusty and dingy.. but all in all... awesome place.. their cooks are amazing.. I had my wedding here this last December of 2014. What an amazing place Barbara and Don and their staff have created! Many of the cottages have antique decor, and a certain shabby sheek-ness. (so it might not be for everyone.) This just adds to the magic and ambiance of the entire place. The grounds are absolutely beautiful with many weeping willow trees scattered about. Makes for some amazing wedding photos!! The Chapel, the dairy barn and the bridal cottage were by far my favorite spots. Don't let other posts scare you ...communicating with Barbara via email can be a little frustrating at times, as she mainly replies in quick, sentences, but If you are patient and take the time to ask the right questions, and take the time to go up and meet her, and see the grounds, it is 100% worth it!! Barbara is a busy lady, as this place is usually booked up WAY in advanced. This is a small town and family run business so no icky corporation to deal with. I'm having trouble understanding where the negative reviews are coming from! I got married here on 3/23/2012 and had the wedding of my dreams. Barbara and Don were amazing to work with, and never anything less than polite and accommodating. My husband and I spent our wedding night at the Inn and were so happy with the room as well - it has a quaint feel typical to B&Bs. As for the chapel - it was glorious! I haven't stopped hearing how beautiful our ceremony was, how lovely the grounds were, and how fantastic the reception turned out! We specifically went looking for a location that would allow us the freedom to express ourselves and avoid a "cookie cutter" feel, and we found it at Union Hill! We looked at several venues who told US how our wedding would be at their location... Barbara was the only one who asked us what we wanted and worked with us to make it happen. We had several guests stay at the Inn after the wedding, and every last one of them was delighted by their stay, not to mention brunch the next morning. If I could do it all over again, I would choose Union Hill every time! read more

We had our wedding at Union Hill Inn over a week ago and it was absolutely magical! This was the third venue location we had visited in the beginning of the planning stages and when we met with Barbara, the venue owner, she took us on a grand tour of the grounds and I fell in love right away with its beauty and history. There are cabins onsite to accommodate your wedding party (I believe we fit 15 people comfortably), which is a huge plus because it allows you to enjoy the weekend together and stay in one location. The venue also has so much to offer you in terms of amenities. The chapel is absolutely breathtaking and provides a cozy and rustic feel. This venue exceeded our expectations and it was a weekend we will never forget! read more

This place is incredible. Not only is it beautiful, but they really know what they are doing! I hosted my wedding here in May and could not have been more impressed with the venue. I ended up booking my wedding last minute (in January for a May wedding) as they had a cancellation. I was worried we wouldn't have enough time to get everything planned, but they made everything soo easy! Barbara was very responsive and accommodating. This is a very difficult review for me to write. From the get-go we had issues with this venue, but my heart was set on the Chapel so we tried to make it work. The only redeeming quality at this venue is the Chapel. It is stunning. Hands down, STUNNING. It is absolutely everything you're looking for in your wedding venue, and IF that is ALL you are looking for in a wedding venue, then book IMMEDIATELY! Before we even arrived, we booked an appointment and we were very clear on the day we wanted to wed. We confirmed with the owner that the day was still open so we booked a tour for the following afternoon. When we arrived, we again discussed the specific day and took a tour of the facility. (We were working with the owner's assistant - mistake #1.) She said the date was still open on her books and readily took a $1000 deposit from us on the spot to lock in the day. An hour later, we received a call from the owner stating the day we'd just put a deposit on had already been booked by a couple who arrived hours before us and that we would have to change our date. There was no apology, there was no offer to compensate for the mistake - nothing. Absolutely callous. We were given only the remainder of the night to decide if we wanted to push our wedding off by 5 months (the next available date) or to take our deposit back. We hesitantly took the later date. This started a chain of issues that wasted so much time and money. We were ASSURED when we toured that all linens, tables, chairs, silverware, dishware, etc. were included in our package. We were told we could have our reception "anywhere on site" and that was one of the "selling points" of the facility. When we chose our reception location, we were notified that conveniently our cost no longer covered any of the rentals and we would have to rent everything ourselves. We were fed a one-liner about insurance and breakage. (Note: if you read your minimal contract very well, it CLEARLY states that insurance and breakage is COVERED in your deposit.) Mistake #2. This added close to $2000 onto our wedding venue total. It was an uphill battle regarding everything - getting on the same page as the owner is a nightmare and her assistant refuses to answer or return phone calls. You spend a lot of time trying to track someone down for help. Simply put, the Cottages are in dire need of help, contracts have MANY loopholes and trust me, they will use every single one of them against you. In the end, we are so happy that we canceled our wedding here and went with another venue. We lost quite a bit of money, but even this was a better alternative to continuing with this venue. If your only appeal is the Chapel and you care about absolutely NOTHING else, then this is your place. If you care about the other things, I highly suggest you take the time to find another venue. This place will wheel and deal you until you go broke. read more

I love this venue!!! Everything was amazing and so convenient. The bridal cottage was adorable and 6 of us were able to sleep there comfortably. The chapel is so beautiful! Did not have to change anything and we kept it the way it is in the photos (just added flowers). Don and Barbara are so sweet! They are there helping and cooking the brunch and you will see them on property often helping everything to run smoothly. I 100% recommend having this venue for your wedding. You have everything on site, there is breakfast every morning, you have the entire weekend, and 5 cottages for your friends and family. Couldn't ask for a more intimate weekend! Perfection! From the moment I stepped onto the UHI grounds I immediately knew it was the place where I NEEDED to get married. There was a wedding taking place when I was at the grounds so we couldn't do a walk through but I didn't care. I went home and called the next day to book our date. I didn't care when it was I just knew it had to be there. There truly is only one phrase to explained how perfect this venue is : breath-taking. The fact that it's basically an all inclusive venue makes the price a total steal. 3 days on property with places to stay, tables, chairs, linings, glassware, crafts, etc. all the little things you don't know you need until someone brings them to your attention is there ready for your use. Not many decorations are needed for this venue as it's one of the most beautiful locations I have ever seen. If you enjoy the outdoors and the mountains this is your spot. It's nuzzled up off the side of a road which creates the feeling of being in your own private oasis! All of our guests were so pleased and in awe over the beauty that union hill inn has to offer. Barbara and her staff are so accommodating and we had thee best experience with them! I would get married here again- a million times over and over!
