Well I'm just curious how anyone is able to book their wedding here at all! I stumbled upon a beautiful photo of a ceremony in the chapel and immediately started doing my research on this venue. I looked over the website a million times and even their facebook page. I sent a little note on facebook and was requested to email the owner....so I did....I soon came to realize if I absolutely want to have my wedding here I will need to hire a wedding coordinator to communicate with the owner so I won't get stressed out and go bonkers!!!!! In my email I asked about catering info, if 2015 is still wide open or pretty booked already, and if we could possibly schedule a time to meet with her and visit the property... Her response: Hi Amy read over the package for 2015 carefully, that is all the info we have January,August and November/December still have and a few in between.. HUH?!?! Most responses I receive are warm and friendly and maybe even include a congratulations somewhere in there...and usually answer all my questions in full complete sentences with detailed information so I can get a better idea of what planning my wedding at a venue will entail! So I reply...BTW like a mentioned early I read over the entire site a million times... so I DID READ THE WEDDING PACKAGE CAREFULLY...thanks.... so again I asked about catering information and again if we could come see the property and when would be convenient. The response: sure, how many guests are you planning? Yes we have a vender list and depending on the # of guests we will cater other than the breakfast and brunch in the package.. ok maybe we do this in baby steps?!?! I'll be patient here...I'm sure she is busy...I let her know how many guests....and no response at all. The chapel is breathtaking and now that they have been featured in bridal magazines I'm sure the venue books itself. I'd imagine if the owner is overwhelmed and too busy and since they are pretty much booked all year for weddings and charging about $8200 and up for 2015 they can probably afford to hire someone to deal with all us eager brides that want to pay them to use their venue! I dislike being that person I who complains but...this really was a bummer and disappointment as this looks like such an amazing venue. All you lovely brides who had an amazing experience lucky you! Wow, I don't even know where to start. My sister had her wedding here, and it was a wreck. The only good thing about having a wedding here is that the chapel is very nice. If I could rate this place any lower, I definitely would! So let me start...the woman (Barbara) whom you have to deal with is just awful. She is rude, and makes it feel like you are putting her out by renting her establishment. This is irritating, but isn't even where it gets bad! We had the whole place rented out for the weekend, the chapel, the reception hall, and most all of the rooms. The room that the bride, myself, our sister, and the flower girls were staying in was grungy upon first look. After getting a closer look, the counters in the kitchen were filthy, covered in mouse feces! We bleached them, to keep the night before her wedding from being a big deal. We were done though when we pulled out the sofa bed for the flower girls to sleep on, and found a mouse NEST in it! It was covered in torn up nesty stuff, and feces. We then pulled down the other linens in the closet to see what could be done, and got rained upon with mouse crap! It was horrifying! When we went to ask what could be done, the owner was huffy, and finally offered us another room after some complaining about how late it was! As though again, we were putting her out! After an hour of moving (dresses, kids) we found that although our second room was cleaner, there were rat droppings on the floor along the walls. Disgusting! So cleanliness was terrible! The next morning, when we went down to breakfast, things got worse. Breakfast looked good, but was exactly what we had requested NOT to get. One of the flower girls and the Groom have severe nut allergies, and most everything that was cooked contained nuts! Nut granola, nut syrup, bread pudding with nuts! She was given ample notice of the allergies, and just chose not to care. On top off all else, the price of renting this place does not include cleanup! We had to "rinse" the glasses, as their policy is not to wash them (eeewwww, wish I had known that before I drank out of them)! So we had to breakdown all tables and chairs, sweep and cleanup everything. For the price paid, which was expensive, cleanup should not have to be done by the bridal party. This place was not worth the price, problems, rudeness, or work that has to go into it! BEWARE OF UNION HILL INN! read more

The venue is beautiful. I had so many compliments from the wedding guests about the location. It was perfect-the magical backdrop my daughter and new son-in-law were hoping for. Just had our wedding. It was worth the wait. People were literally speechless. I wouldn't look too much into the negative reviews. We had ours with not the best weather and it was still amazing. The staff from barbara and don to the groundskeepers (Eddy??), Kelly, and the cooks were kind and generous people. If you give a little kindness to them you get a lot back. In addition to my previous review I thought anyone considering this establishment for a wedding or otherwise should know that several terrible reviews were posted on their facebook page and DELETED BY THE OWNER. The owner claimed to be resolving the matter of resolving returning a deposit for the venue with the bride to be due to the groom to be being killed in an auto accident, and posted it on her facebook page. When she was responded to by the parties involved letting her facebook followers know this was untrue, she not only deleted the post, but the entire review section! This is one of the most unprofessional business acts outside of telling me, the mother of the groom, that she cannot make an exception to return the deposit "for death." Morals alone should tell you this place is not worth your time. read more

I came across Union Hill Inn on Style Me Pretty and immediatley fell in love. My husband works in baseball so I knew we would need to get married in the off season (Nov-Feb) so that meant an indoor venue that could hold alot of people. When I emailed Barbara (who emailed back right away) there was only one weekend left in February so I booked the venue without even seeing it. My mom had read some of the negative reviews on Yelp and was a bit concerned. But when we visited it in person we just fell in love. Barbara is a busy woman and can get a bit confused but if you clarify and are patient she is a pleasure to work with. Her staff is amazing and will make sure your wedding is perfection. The bridal cottage is the perfect place to get ready and hang with your bridesmaids. It's so cute and girly, and CLEAN. No mouse droppings or signs of rodents as previous posts mention. The chapel is a dream and the reception hall is cozy. For an all inclusive weekend it could not be beat. I truly had my dream wedding at Union Hill Inn. read more

This wedding venue was everything I had ever dreamt of. Barbara and her staff were beyond accommodating and extremely sweet . This property is so beautiful and allows for a beautiful wedding in all types of weather. I loved that there were cabins on the property for our friends and family to stay, and this venue really goes above and beyond to make sure you have a wonderful wedding weekend. The cabins were comfortable and each had its own specific style and theme. This venue pays attention to every detail . The breakfast they provided for my friends and family on both Saturday and Sunday were exceptional! Barbara was amazing to work with and I 100 percent recommend this place for your wedding . The only thing I would change would be my specific wedding coordinator Terri, but this was of no fault of the venue . I'll start with the positive: the chapel and reception hall are beautiful for a rustic wedding. There is also a shed with leftover supplies to borrow. We just returned home from a wedding and I am extremely disappointed with this venue for the money that was spent. When we arrived on Friday the owner (Barbara) yelled at us for driving in the wrong area. The area was paved and there were no signs implying no vehicle access (there are no signs anywhere on the property!). After the bridal party unloaded the supplies we tried to check-in so we could get into our rooms before the rehearsal but Barbara was no where to be found. We asked several maintenance guys to find her and were told several times that she was on her way. Once we realized she wasn't going to come anytime soon we all just picked open rooms so we could get to the rehearsal...by that time no one had time to take showers or change. We were later told to just find Barbara at some point during the weekend to pay for our rooms....what owner makes you hunt for them to pay them?! Our cottage was not very clean (cobwebs everywhere!) and it smelled horrible. There was a stench in the bathroom that lasted all weekend. The bridesmaids got ready in our cottage and we had to keep the bathroom door closed the entire day because the smell was so bad. Had we been able to find the owners or a maintenance person we would have tried to get it fixed or get a new room...however they remained in hiding! On Saturday morning, as everyone was attempting to get ready for the wedding festivities the gas was turned off to all the rooms...no hot water, no gas for the stove! Come to find out the gas was turned off because the hot water heater in the "grooms coop" exploded, flooding the entire place. Since there were no open rooms and the venue is in the middle of nowhere they had to stay in a flooded "residence". There are no garbage cans anywhere on the property, the breakfast/brunch is "okay", the rooms are not clean, our showers were either scalding hot or freezing cold. I'm pretty sure most of the property is NOT up to code. A county inspector would have a field day on this property. On Sunday morning as guests were leaving, Barbara came out of hiding-just in time to collect her money! She charges an extra fee for using credit cards and checks...she only wants cash. If you're looking for just a beautiful chapel and reception hall this is a great place. However, I assume you'll pass 30 other venues with great chapels and reception halls that have better service and rooms on your way. read more

The search for my wedding venue was long and torturous! We encountered too small, too dark, funny smelling, creepy, too expensive, too fancy, too limited, too strict.....Nothing fit. That is until I visited Union Hill Inn. From the moment I stepped foot onto the property, I knew I wanted to get married there. Union Hill Inn is so conveniently located. It is close to town, yet I felt a million miles away as I explored. I found rustic charm in the old buildings and natural surroundings, peace and tranquility in the sitting areas overlooking floating lilly pads in the ponds, inviting elegance in the clean and luxuious rooms, and sincere friendliness in Don and Barbara. Being the first wedding at Union Hill Inn, no one was quite sure how things would go! It was a little scarey for all involved, as there were no examples to lead by. We didnt know what issues may arise, which set ups would work better than others, etc. Don and Barbara were extremely accomodating. They let me have my rein on the entire venue allowing me to make all of my own decisions for everything involved, yet they were there, eager to get involved every time I had a question or needed help. I have countless memories of Union Hill Inn seperate from the actual wedding itself; from sitting at the Great Room bar giggling with my bridesmaids until all hours of the night, snuggling up into the coziest of beds with plush pillows and fluffy blankets, and then swimming in the pool with my entire bridal party like it was my own back yard the morning after the wedding. Amongst these great memories are the thoughts of Barbaras warm smile and thoughtful kindness. The morning of my wedding, I woke up in a dazed panick. I went searching for Barbara certain there was something I had forgotten but surely needed. I found barbara making a basket of goodies for the girls and I, filled with hair products, face creams, body lotions and the sort. Later in the morning we overtook the Inns back porch and parlar, filling the areas with clothes, shoes, mirrors, makeup, hair products and other random grooming utensils. As we were wisked away to take photographs and then hurried into our final moments of preperations, these areas were deserted with a chaotic mess left behind. Barbara never said a word. She did not chase me around asking me to clean up, she did not make a big deal out it to anyone involved. She let me have my moment free from the stress I am sure this first wedding caused her. As brides, all we think about is making sure our day is perfect, stressing about anything and everything that could possiblly ruin that perfection. Sometimes we even go looking for those little things that we can create a fuss over. We don't see the other side of things. Our wedding parties can be like theives in the night, stealing over space that is not ours, overturning every table searching for the perfect treasures to use as our own, sure to make a big deal out of any complications. Then as quick as a tornado passes, we exit the area, often times leaving behind chaos. Since my wedding, I have attended several events at Union Hill Inn. Sure, there were things that went awry, as with any event in any location can, but great times were had, and great memories were made all the same. I love Union Hill Inn. I love Don and Barbara. I love the memories, perfect and impefect, that were made. It is as simple as that! read more

I recently had an opportunity to participate in a photo shoot at Union Hill. What a beautiful venue! There were so many lovely spaces , well taken care of and charming. The chapel is spectacular! I just read through reviews here and it seems there are a couple of issues that just need to be communicated to guests and help. It would seem that appropriate shoes, or a change of shoes would be common sense, and helpful to let your guests know about. Google maps and the website both make finding it easy. You will be in a charming country setting, so expect country, and be ready to enjoy the beauty!!! read more

Union Hill Inn is the most wonderful Bed and Breakfast we have been to. We've been twice, and plan to go again. Barbara is the sweetest, most wonderful woman. The rooms are beautiful. The Union Hill Inn is perfect if you "ONLY" want a Bed and Breakfast or picturesque opportunities for your wedding! However, this may be a feat in itself considering my phone calls were never returned. And I am the mother of the groom. Once you actually "FIND" the place which is not marked from the road, you are pretty much on your own. No signs directing you and in our case, no management to be found even after the grounds keepers promised to round her (Barbara) up, so you are left to bumble around the property.We were late for the rehearsal due to waiting to pay upon check in, per Barbara's instructions. We later were told to "find the owners and pay later".. REALLY, what professional establishment expects to be chased down to be paid? Rooms/cottages not attached to the main dwelling are unfinished, unkempt, makeshift and certainly not worth the $179 a night. A complete field day for Code violations, water burns and insect or varmint disease. If you have a problem, you can't find anyone to help you, so if you are like us and have sewer gas seeping through the pipes all weekend, you are on your own to gag over the stench and hope the hairspray from the bride/bridesmaids updos will cover it. With the exception of the room you occupy,there are no garbage cans to be found, which makes it quite frustrating considering this is a "Bring it yourself" venue offering no services but breakfast! The Grooms Coop flooded due to an exploding water heater, which was attended to promptly.SHOCK, the owners came out of hiding, not for long though, leaving the groomsmen to stay in that dwelling with wet floors. Luckily the door was hung improperly, it sat 6 inches off the floor so along with the mosquitoes, air was able to flow freely through. No other accommodations or refunds were offered and for a bonus, they forgot to turn the gas and pilot lights back on leaving many of those in the wedding party without showers... REAL NICE! I do understand that "Things happen", however, this place is truly not ready to be "Housing" people in their out buildings and being that they are, should definitely NOT be charging what they do, and it's nothing you can expect, you just encounter it when you are already in the thick of it and you can't turn back. It may have been a bit more tolerable if the owners, (who are the on site managers as well) were a bit more hospitable and available..Just not the case! We were given the choice in our initial meeting to either pay by Credit Card and a service charge of $30 would be added or check/cash and no fee. Surprisingly Barbara WAS VERY available on Check out day and when we tried to pay by check the amount was $30 higher. Upon questioning the amount, Barbara, abruptly announced "Checks are not the same as cash"... HMMM, I guess she doesn't want much money flowing through her bank account. All in all, for those Brides To Be in search of the perfect venue, this place looks great in the photos provided, and that's it! It's a horrible hassle, the owners are rude and truly make you feel like you are putting them out,(even in signing a contract with them) and unless you use a Wedding Coordinator which they approve of, you can't use their facility. They want you to only go through or to that person for all questions and issues, which doesn't help in the times that person isn't on site, which is quite often, and they aren't the property managers. The owners simply don't want to be bothered, but have no problem taking your money! Your wedding day should be hassle and worry free, especially when you pay a high price for a venue. I am writing this from a vendors perspective only. We worked a wedding here with our photo booth and this place does not rank real high on convenience to the vendor. We had to park on a very narrow loosely packed dirt driveway to unload our gear, we backed into the space after the wedding coordinator directed us to. We had to haul our gear past a parked car and a very large generator only to find there were a few small step ups on the walkway and then a narrow path to the patio where we were to set up. Once we hand hauled 80% of our gear because our hand trucks bogged down in the loose soil, we started to set up on a patio that the cement surface was full of loose cement and very large cracks. It for sure has the makings of a beautiful venue but I really feel the owners need to put a little money back into the property. With about 30 minutes left on our contracted time we were asked to move our trailer so the wedding coordinator could leave!! Well in total darkness my husband could not back the trailer back up into the space without help (I was running the booth alone) so he moved it elsewhere, only to have them ask us to move again because the caterer needed to leave, so he moved it again, by the time we finished he had to put it in head first and we had to hand load 100% of our gear in about 10 trips (normally 2 trips each with carts) so to say the least I would never return here. read more

AMAZING!! We had our wedding here on Oct. 21, 2017. I am so beyond impressed with this venue. Barbara and Don are amazing hosts and are very personable. Everyone who came out to stay fell in love with their rooms as well as the breakfast. Breakfast and brunch are beyond delicious and prepared at the exact time as stated. The day of the wedding was the perfect day and I couldn't ask for a better place to be. Everyone was in awe of how beautiful and well kept the grounds are. This is a beautiful oasis for family and friends to gather over an entire weekend for whichever event you choose to hold at Union Hill. My husband and I had our wedding there this June and it was more than we ever dreamed. Our family and friends all enjoyed their time on the property and raved about the historic charm throughout. It truly is one of a kind. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and the chapel is stunning. There are so many options for entertaining throughout the property, you'll have a hard time choosing where to spend your time. Staying in one of their cottages will make you feel right at home. They are private and very comfortable. Our bridal party were all very grateful for the beautiful and relaxing weekend getaway. Having multiple cottages to offer them allowed us to spend extra time relaxing with them before and after the wedding. Some of the bridal party and their children utilized the pool with their down time. It really felt like a vacation. In addition to the property and all of the amenities, the owners Don and Barbara (and their entire staff), are warm and very accommodating. They were always nearby to lend a helping hand or answer a question for any of our guests. They make delicious breakfast too, what a treat! Some thoughts & tips for a wedding at Union Hill: Do not go at this venue alone or ill prepared! It is a huge venue and the first time you walk the property you will be so taken by it's beauty and charm that you will forget to pay close attention to important things like electrical outlets and proximity to bathrooms. I strongly recommend using an experienced coordinator to guide you through the process. The owners will answer any questions that you have and they'll take time to meet with you at the property when they can but, they are not wedding planners. They also have strict guidelines to ensure their property stays beautiful and hiring a coordinator can help you make sure that there are no issues. Be prepared for nature's gifts... Mosquitos were very prevalent this June and we provided our guests with personal (organic) repellent wrist bands and spray. We also relocated our dinner location to minimize the issue. Have a rain contingency. The covered pavilions are NOT waterproof, they are for shade only. They are a great option to host dinner for your guests but you will need to discuss those logistics with your coordinator and caterer since one pavilion is further from the hall/kitchen than the other. This particular county and a strict noise ordinance and you'll want to find out those details before you send out invitations with the time for your wedding. We knew of the ordinance but were unclear on the specifics until after the invites had gone out so we decided to send postcards with the time change to all of our rsvp's guests (helped nail down the guest list though). You cannot have ANY amplified music after 10 pm outdoors; 11 pm indoors. This will cut into your dancing time if you plan to have a later wedding, just FYI. Vendors: Barbara has an extensive vendor list which is a great tool but, she is open to adding new vendors upon approval. We only hired 2 vendors from her list and she was very accommodating with us in regards to our other vendors. Just be sure to do your research on the unlisted vendors and inform them of the property rules and requirements for vendors so there aren't any surprises. Most vendors are happy to work in a new environment to get their names out. Make sure to provide your new vendors with a print out of property (map), they'll need it. Shuttle, shuttle, shuttle! Use a shuttle service (Check out my review on LinkLine Charter :), it will be the best decision you will make for your guests. The roads can be tricky for out of town guests, especially if you plan to have alcohol served at your wedding. It's a safe and reliable option that offers your guests, and you, some peace of mind. Golf carts: Rent them. You won't want to carry your things all around the acreage and it's great for guests who need some assistance. Most rental companies have employees that will drive the carts on the day of your wedding so you don't have to assign a member of the bridal party to drive and everyone gets to enjoy the day. They also deliver/pick up the carts and let you rent them from the day before to the day after which helps a ton. Enjoy the venue, it's a wonderful place!! :) read more

Our family rented most of the rooms, banquet hall, chapel, etc. for a weekend long stay to wrap up with a wedding. Although the grounds are beautiful, never before have I seen such filthy and unsanitary conditions in the rooms (mice pee and droppings everywhere - kitchen counters, bathroom towels, window sills, NEST INSIDE the fold up couch, every floor corner and surface), the kitchen in banquet hall had years of funk on unwashed dishes, floor corners and appliances. What was worse than the disgusting conditions was the rudeness we were subjected to every time we dealt with the owner. Members of the wedding party have SEVERE nut allergies which we informed the owners of prior to breakfast - and the response we received was 'just don't eat that'. With a child who can't even be in the same ROOM as nuts, that was an entirely inappropriate comment and actions that could have had fatal consequences. Our group spent THOUSANDS of dollars on these two days that were filled with such rudeness and offhanded response from the owner. Unfortunately, the kindness of Don, the sweet dogs, pretty waterfalls and lovely chapel are overshadowed by the terrible unsanitary conditions and rudeness of Barbara. read more

This place comes with a ton of stuff and you get it for the whole weekend. Barbara was also really helpful when I wasn't feeling well the morning of the wedding. I would like to thank the owners and staff of Union Hill for making my wife and I's special day absolutely amazing. The chapel was wonderful, and the hall was even better. The wedding party and all of the guests had a great time. I thought having a wedding would be so complicated, but Barbra seemed to make the whole process seem so simple. The reception was such a great hit, and my friends are still talking about it. The stay the night of the wedding was also great. The rooms had such a great rustic feel to them. I don't know of any other place where u could find that kind of experience. We were able to go from getting married, with all our friends and family straight to a romantic getaway in a beautiful room. The breakfast the next morning was wonderful. The food was awesome, and I got to sit with my friends and family and reminisce about the events of the night before.
