I've always been a big union square donut fan. I love their honey dipped donut, the maple bacon, the brown butter hazelnut crunch. They come out with new flavors and styles pretty often and always have a vegan option for people who prefer that as well! I love that you can see the actual vanilla in their dough. I also like their coffee options. It's a pricey donut compared to Dunkin but definitely on par with other specialty donut shops. Everyone has always been nice in store as well. I definitely recommend trying them out or going to their OG shop in Union Square. Sometimes when you go to a location where they're not fried/made at that site, it might not be the freshest later in the day. But... that's expected. I know people will criticize for that but I don't really expect a freshly fried donut late in the day?

Vietnamese Coffee

I love their original location so I was surprised to see they opened a location at Assembly Row. Donuts are $3.50-$5 each. I got the Vietnamese coffee and jumbleberry. I got the donuts an hour before they closed and the donuts were still good. Not stale (surprising as it was near the end of the day), and both flavors were delicious. I would recommend the jumbleberry to anyone. The workers were helpful and great. I'm visiting so I'm definitely planning on taking some back home with me.

Lemon Glazed Cruller

Heavenly donuts! I tried the Moon Pie, which has chocolate icing and fluffy marshmallow filling, and the Lemon Glazed Cruller, which had the best lemon icing. Staff were very friendly, and it's in a great location -- lots to see, do, and eat in Assembly Row. They're pricey donuts, but worth it!

Union Square Donuts offers a delightful experience for those with a sweet tooth and a penchant for good coffee. Their iced latte is perfectly balanced, providing a refreshing and smooth caffeine boost that's just right for a warm day like today. The donuts are truly standout, with a cake-like texture that's moist and flavorful, making each bite a moment of indulgence. I'm not the biggest donut fan but I bought the blueberry short cake, maple bacon, espresso martini + tiramisu. The combination of their excellent coffee and delectable donuts makes Union Square Donuts a must-visit spot for anyone looking to satisfy their dessert cravings for sure. It was definitely a nice surprise!

I had a glazed donut here and it was good, although I was expecting to be blown away because of the modern and clean aesthetic of the establishment. It's a cozy spot with maybe 10 or so seats, a couple of outlets. They have lots of lots of options including plenty of vegan options, maple bacon and Raspberry Cheesecake donuts in the $3 to $5 range.

What a disappointment. My friend and I stopped by because all the donuts on display looked so good. While we were in line, the person in front of us even raved about the Butter Pecan French Cruller and how amazing it was. We decided to split the cruller and it was the biggest letdown. All we could taste was oil. There was barely any flavor to it. We even questioned how fresh it actually was. Giving this place two stars only because the staff was friendly.

I am definitely a Kane's faithful, but when I new place opens, I always have to try it. I've had Union Square Donuts before and thought they were awesome so I wanted to try the Assembly Row location. I went around 8:30 AM and got the Banana Pudding Donut, the Blueberry Muffin Donut, and an Iced Matcha Latte. The total was about 18 bucks. The donuts were absolutely phenomenal and worth the money for the size. They were soft and fluffy and the filling was out of this world. The matcha latte was good but a little too pricey for the size. I will definitely come back and try more donuts in the future though!!

Vegan chai apple cider, apple cider donut

Im a huge apple cider donut fan, so I had to get the apple cider donut, and the vegan chai apple cider donut. I liked the chai one better! The apple flavors were stronger on that donut than the regular apple cider donut. The apple cider donut didn't have enough apple flavor (for me). Both donuts were huge, but also around ~$4.

The donuts are delicious but messy. You need silverware to eat them. They are pricey but very big. The cheesecake bar was amazing

Order donuts for a bunch of guys. Very pricey. Coffee was alittle too rich for me. You only need one donut there.

We headed over and found a cute little shop with super friendly staff and a few spots to sit inside. All of the donuts looked amazing, and they even had espresso, but already my coffee fill for the day. I ordered the Boston cream donut, and it did not disappoint. The donut itself was light and fluffy, the cream filling was delicious, and the chocolate glaze on top was top notch. I can definitely see why Union Square Donuts is known as the place to get a Boston cream donut!

Pricy, Hit or Miss:…read more This is a classic donut shop, with a slightly upscale interior compared to the factory produced donut shops that grace many of America's strip malls. I am healthily skeptical of any place trying to make a donut something more than what it should be. I feared this with Union Square, but was invited in by the mystery of well crafted names and compelling flavor profiles. Service was neither good nor bad, I was a little surprised that the person working the cash register was unable to assist the two people in the back and just grab the three donuts I ordered, but perhaps its this kind of front line discipline allows them to survive the rush of early morning donut enthusiasts. The Nuts: I ordered the honey glaze chocolate, honey glaze graham cracker, vegan vanilla with sprinkles. - Honey Glaze Chocolate: "A DoNot": A dense donut, not light and airy, light on the Chocolate flavor and, most damagingly, it was dry. The frosting was there and little else. - Vegan Vanilla with Sprinkles: "A fine donut": The cake was spongy, moist enough, but a little chewy (which I believe is a plague of most vegan baked goods). Frosting was unremarkable, somewhat buoyed by the sprinkles. - The Honey Glaze Graham Cracker: "A happy little accident": I accidentally ordered this donut, but sometimes God steps in. The cake was moist and delicious. The Frosting was perhaps a little heavy on some kind of sugar, powdered? But the frosting proved to be an interesting medley of classic vanilla with just enough engaging graham cracker. I got to slightly taste the magic that likely propelled this small shop to a local chain. But as they have expanded I am sure quality control has become an issue. Pop in if you are feeling adventurous and want to gamble with $5.

But there's one table downstairs! The default tip options are 30%, 25%, 20%, which feels a bit high. For NJ this would be a below average bagel -- not enough crust, not quite chewy enough, a little bland. For Boston this is well above average, with the distinct chew of a proper bagel. The donut was only so so, dry and just sweet. Would recommend the bagels instead! They have some cream cheese spreads, but no lox flavor sadly. I'll definitely be back when I crave a bagel!

This everything bagel sandwich definitely made my morning with how yummy it was. I mean, a fluffy bagel with delicious egg and an insane cheese pull. What's not to like? I tried their Strawberry Frosted Donut too, but it fell a little short for me. It just tasted a bit dry and flavorless despite having so much topping. The bagels were far better than the donuts imo. In terms of timing, would definitely recommend coming bright & early (8AM) so you can get what you want before they sell out. Even during the early hours, the staff are so friendly & helpful. Overall, they're a fantastic breakfast spot in Davis Square.
