One of the nicer parks in NYC. There's always something going on here-- whether it's guys dancing in the front, someone doing some public speaking, people playing dominos, kids playing, a farmers market, etc--- this park has it all. It's located near several businesses, you may be here taking a break or taking in the sights. They constantly have people cleaning up and attempting to keep things orderly.

Right now they have the Union Square holiday market with lots of food and gift vendors. I purchased a "positive fries" from a vendor with knitted items and thought the price was reasonable. The only thing I don't like is all the pigeons walking around, you could trip over them. But it is NYC so city pigeons should be expected.

It's a busy park with playground, open grass area, benches and dog park. They have green market almost every other day. I dont like the park that much. I can smell weed and urine. Homeless scatter their belongings. The environmental service crew is great at doing their jobs but it's really beyond them.

I stopped by Union Square for the first time in years when I traveled to NYC for a spontaneous solo weekend for Labor Day last weekend. The Union Square Greenmarket is open Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays year-round from 8am to 6pm, and it's definitely worth checking out. Great produce, beautiful flowers, and delicious food (if you're there for a meal rather than shopping). A great selection of vendors and you can find so much. I think it was one of the first farmers markets I ever visited when I attended college in New York years ago, and I still love it today. I definitely recommend checking out the market at Union Square if you're in the area on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday!

PUBLIC PARK: A Park which opened in 1839 and features a Statue of GEORGE WASHINGTON, the first President of the UNITED STATES (1789-1797). Growing up this Park was a mess before renovations improved the area drastically. Attended a few HEAVY METAL concerts in my youth at the PALLADIUM (1927-1997) which was down the block from UNION SQUARE. The GREENMARKET where Produce, Baked Goods and other items are sold is located in the Park. WORTH VISITING.

MANHATTAN/Flatiron: Union Square is a public park with walking paths, sculptures, a dog park, home to pop-up shopping markets, events, and is surrounded by dining and shopping. Leashed dogs are allowed in the park and can be off-leash at the dog run.

For this Saturday, it was raining and Whole Foods graciously let all the monks and all the attendees inside the cafeteria. Thank you.

I love Union Square, everytime I go there. Wether it's just browsing through the vegetables, fruits, breads, honey or herbs markets, it's a delight to see the freshness of it all. The wonderful Whole Food is across the street from the park along with amazing stores that everyone loves. Union Square is always crowded. I've gone to see the Thai Monks for a couple of Saturdays with my aunt Sue, who had invited me to go with her. They were situated behind the small gate that gave them space in the park, on the west side. These Thai Monks has a title "Walk for World Peace." They had walked from Miami, Florida to Niagra Falls already and are planning to walk in the Scandinavian countries. So, around 11:00 am, the 6 Monks would line up to received food from the attendees. It was put in the large bowls that they carried. Then they can eat after the prayers. After that, the attendees may eat. Omg!! So much Thai food, that was brought by each attendees, were delicious. Everyone relaxed and chatted with one another after the meals. Funds were raised by the attendees for the Monks. It was a great event.

Opened in 1839 and redesigned in 1872 by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux to accommodate mass congregations of New Yorkers, Union Square Park has served as home base for countless community events and festivals-from the first Labor Day parade in 1882 to workers' rallies in the 1930s to the first Earth Day in 1970 to the current, wildly popular Greenmarket. This former burial ground has seamlessly transitioned from a town square to a bustling City park, and as such, it is the deserved home of statues depicting distinguished men like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Mohandas Gandhi, and Marquis de Lafayette. We enjoy sitting and watching the city unfold in front of our eyes, minute by minute....people rushing to work, people ready to exercise, people going shopping....it's just a nice busy place.....

Best Italian restaurant in Union square?

Within the actual square, none since it is a park... But within the Union Square area, I would say Paul & Jimmy's on nearby East 18th Street

Besides that, I never paid much mind to the park, especially in light of the fact that it's not in my stomping grounds. Nevertheless, I had just finished brunching nearby and since it was such a gorgeous day out, I decided to take a walk through the park and check it out. MSP is not large - the center of it is a large green space with paths on the perimeter that contain walking paths and benches. In addition to the Shake Shack, there's also a small seating area nearby where you can sit and eat, or just hang out. The park is ideal of people watching, eating your lunch, or just walking around a space that contrasts the hustle and bustle of the surrounding areas. Because of the weather, it was a little crowded but still pleasant. Overall, MSP is fine - it's not worth coming to unless you're in the area IMO, but a pleasant spot nonetheless.

It also hosts some public art exhibits, like one in the park through March 29, 2026 - Larry Bell: "Improvisations in the Park." My husband and I walked through the park a couple of times when we stayed in the neighborhood this past weekend. We spent our time walking through the park on one occasion to see the works included in the Larry Bell exhibit. Overall, a fine park for a walk through as a tourist, but probably more of a park for locals to enjoy the outdoors, dog run, and playground. In warmer weather, it's a nice park to sit and enjoy the sunshine or even grab lunch (from the Shake Shack in the park).

We were on our 4th game of 5 on 5 on this slanted, slippery court with double rims as the Midtown skyline looked over us. We had gone 3-0 and already on wobbly legs but wanted one more to really push ourselves to exhaustion and be WHOOPED. A group of 5 17 year olds showed up and I was lowkey like damn I don't wanna play these little kids for our last game but whatever, they got next. We were going back and forth, and to be fair they were actually pretty good but just too frail to give us any problems. At 5'10 174 lbs, I'm a BIG guard. I'm left handed, but shot a right handed floater fading to my right as I'm trying to get better. If you can hit a weak hand floater on the run you will be tough to stop. I bricked it and this little 17 year old kid goes "that's a TERRIBLE shot" looking at me dead in the eyes. Like bro y'all are losing and you suck why you talking? He woke me up and I started actually trying really hard and lowkey busting their ass... but tbh normally I'm not even that good. It was just one of those days where everything was falling. I hit a 3 and yelled out "THAT'S A LAYUP." I drove hard left, euro stepped and hit a tough finish through 2 and yelled "I"M TOO BIG," while flexing. I switched onto little homie and he took a terrible stepback shot after I turned him 3 times and bricked it. I just whispered to him "I don't even gotta say nothing after that one it speaks for itself" which really pissed him off. Then I hit the game winning 3 and did the Dame wave to him as he walked off the court PISSED as hell. I sat down and then he got the courage to say "STOP TALKING SO MUCH" while he put his hand together to mimic me YAPPING. I almost stood up and said "HOW BOUT U GET WIN?" But then I realized I'm a grown ass man and there is absolutely no reason to be jawing at this little kid on a beautiful Friday in New York City. I just kind of laughed at myself and asked what is wrong with me lol. All in all, these runs were kind of weak and this court is in horrendous condition. The court on the westside highway is still my favorite in the city. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews

An entire batch is immediately scooped up with a french fry scooper and handed off for your enjoyment. The Bucket: The primary ingredients in these cookies are all butter, brown sugar, and premium Callebaut chocolate. As soon as you try your first one, you will be far from done. They are warm and crispy on the outside while gooey on the inside. As a bonus, the holiday themed visual design on the bucket was hand drawn by Ian's sister.
