Be very careful what multi-lock you purchase from these people. They sell some locks that you can only buy keys for from them and they charge $45 dollars a key. The multi lock 5 key sells for $25 everywhere in the city but their special code card forces you to go only to them. Beware. It's highway robbery. read more

I bought something here and lost my receipt. When I brought it back, the employees were really nasty to me. I asked for store credit and told them I'd buy something more expensive, this way they'd turn a profit. Nope. Instead, they went on about how other stores also wouldn't take it back, and their labor costs. I had no idea how much labor it was to put an item on a shelf. The horror! Their return policy is 4 days, which is ridiculous. This is just bad business. I live nearby and won't be going there again. It's out of my way, but the employees at Saifee hardware on 1st Avenue are much nicer, and I'll be taking my business there from now on. read more

The most amazingly little hardware store. I needed help finding screws to fit my bedframe. Going back and forth between home Depot was so difficult. I came in looking for a few wood screws and I was treated like visiting royalty. Andrew, the person who took care of me, could not have been more helpful. He dug through the store's inventory till he found what I needed. And, while he was digging through the inventory, I did a little digging of my own. It's one of those old-fashioned hardware stores that carries everything, including some things that have become scarce during the pandemic. I came in looking for a dollar's worth of screws and I walked out with about $32 worth of stuff, and I couldn't have been happier. (In case you're wondering, I did pay for everything.) This is my local hardware store, two blocks from home. They have never, ever let me down. Two recent miraculous events that took place there: First Miraculous Event. The bracket on my hand held shower spray broke in half. I was sure I'd need an entirely new fixture and was unhappy at the prospect of having new holes drilled in the ceramic wall tiles, or worse, having to retile the entire wall. BUT the store had a new bracket in stock. Second Miraculous Event. I walked a total of three miles to two bulb stores in my area to find a weird-shaped little replacement bulb for a table lamp. Both stores had gone out of business. The bulb is shaped like a soap bubble with a base the diameter of a #2 pencil. Not standard. With a heavy heart I went to Union Square Hardware, hoping they could at least tell me the serial number of that bulb. But they had it in stock! That will be a dollar sixty, said the salesman. I thought i might cry.So anyone out there who might need a bulb shaped, say, like a portion of eggplant parmigiana should try Union Square Supply. They are also very nice. read more

I just got keys cut here today. I was lucky enough to go to the right place. The locksmith was amazing. He took my 1970s key and made copies of it out of a regular key. I would have had to change the lock completely if didn't do this. I highly recommend them if you're in a bind or if you just want to get keys cut that work. The staff was super friendly too. read more
