Absolutely amazing and very skilled at their craft. I needed multiple copies of a very specialized equipment key that no other hardware store could even identify the template. Billy's had the template and every copy worked. I also brought in a broken screen door latch (not technically a lock) but they were able to identify, and source, the very specific part, of a part, that needed to be replaced. Billy's is the best. We had another locksmith say they would be unable to install a deadbolt in our steel front door. I called billy and Craig was over within 20 minutes and our new deadbolt was installed in an hour or so. He even re-keyed our other lock to match. Everything was perfect. read more

I have used Billy's for almost a year now. They are responsive and the guys who come out are great. However, they cannot seem to understand how to call before coming over. Many times i have missed them because they forgot to call and I was running errands. Also and more importantly, they do not warranty what they sell. Let me repeat that: THEY DO NOT WARRANTY WHAT THEY SELL. I paid a lot of money to have an automagic keypad and intercom system put in. It broke twice in less than a year. They charged me a full service trip each time with no breaks. Then they had the balls to tell me they put in a cheap door latch because they didn't think I would pay the $400 for one that would last. Needed copies of an extra set of keys for the apartment. Stumbled accidentally on this locksmith, after failing to find service at other places. The employee took the keys, confirmed the order to copy all 3 keys, and began working. In the middle of the process, however, he let us know that one of the keys was a copy of another and proceeded to ask us if we still wanted a copy of it (No, obviously). Instead of easily assuming he could gain another purchase from us, he considerately inquired whether we still wanted it. It was clear that he was careful and honest in his work, and I cannot disagree with that. Each key was less than $2, service was speedy (5 min.), so we were on our merry way! read more

I live near this locksmith. I went when I first moved in to get an extra key cut, & it only cost $1.25. That's not the real story, though. One day in October, I was taking a flight to Toronto, & was tidying up my apartment. I had just gotten out of the shower, my hair was wet, & I decided to take the garbage out. When I turned back to go inside the building, I realized I had taken my TORONTO KEYS to the garbage area. I was locked out & had a flight in 3 hours!! I ran--literally ran--to this shop. I was pretty near tears. They were really busy but they stopped to listen to me & a gentleman named Craig dropped everything he was doing, got his tool bag, & rushed back with me. He was able to let me in in a matter of minutes. He checked my ID to make sure I lived there, which I actually found really reassuring. Then he called in the payment to their staff so I didn't have to come back to settle up. The price ($40) was really a gift, considering I demanded immediate service!! If it weren't for this place & Craig's kindness, I absolutely would have missed my flight. Also, after Craig left, he knocked again with an afterthought, & showed me a way to change a mechanism on my door so that it doesn't automatically lock behind me. I walked in and had my eye on a fancy lock I really didn't need. Billy Jr. advised me and helped me pick out a lock that was actually cheaper and better in the long run. My appointment the next day was scheduled to be from 10am-12pm. Billy Jr. called me and told me a tech was on his way beforehand. The technician arrived 10:15am. I have been debating for a while to get a new lock and after doing a ton of research and reading many reviews, I found Billy's and this was the best decision that I made. All I had to do was send photos of my door and lock and someone got back to me with recommendations on a lock based on need and price. Billy's came highly recommended to be and I'm glad it was! I recently moved to Brooklyn, in a very old apartment building. I wanted to change the old lock and get an additional one installed. The gentleman from Billy's came and was very honest. Although the changing of the old lock and the new dead bolt lock costed about $250, it was well worth the investment. He was able to give me one key for both locks. In addition, he gave me some helpful hints. He was very kind and professional. The job was done quickly and neatly. A few days later I went into the shop and got several sets of keys made. The keys were made in seconds and got a very cheap price.
