I came accross this medical practice when I took ill on holiday, as was told to go and see a…read moreDoctor, when i went to the surgery the really nice receptionist gave me a form to fill in, which was quite easy, took about 5 minutes she even gave me a pen. I asked for an appointment and she said I could have one that same afternoon, which i was suprised at because in my own doctors surgery its usually a few days waiting list. anyway, was seen about 2 minutes afer my appointment time, was given a perscription from a very nice Lady doctor, Dr Roxburgh, and she told me if i had any other problems to come straight back and she would see me, the chemist was just accross the road , so I was all done and dusted in about 20 minutes,

I have to say that, as far as the doctors themselves go, they are lovely people, extremely friendly and personable and really nice to meet and talk to. However, sometimes the reception staff can be a little short, and do not make the experience of going to visit the doctor any easier. Also, waiting times are often ridiculous. It is near impossible to get an appointment when you would like one, and when you do manage to get one, I have not waited for less than half an hour past my allotted time each time I have gone.

It has, in the past, taken me over a week to get an appointment, which is particularly ridiculous especially if you are ill. However, having said that, if you are in need of an emergency appointment they will try their hardest to see you that day. Nevertheless, I have never waited under 15 minutes to see the actual doctor each time I am in there, which makes it a slightly more stressful and frustrating visit. Hopefully the new practice will be a bit more efficient.

During that time I had several occasions to use the…read morehealth center and there was only one doctor that was every helpful, the others that I saw just seemed to palm me off and gave the impression as a student I was wasting their time. The waiting time for appointments was very long due to the number of people they support but frequently the appointments over ran and it was not unusual to still be sitting 40 mins after your appointment time. When I left St Andrews they also lost my notes which was quite annoying too. All in all one of the poorest health centers I have been too.

I can't comment on the hospital, but I've visited here a few times to walk the labyrinth beside the…read moreMaggie's Centre hospice, which incidentally is US architect Frank Gehry's only building in the UK. The labyrinth is a huge Medieval-pattern design by American artist Arabella Lennox-Bloyd in 2009, constructed from granite setts and cobbles in grass. It's huge. Labyrinths have become very popular in hospices and hospitals these days, but I have to say that I don't like walking this one very much, primarily because of the use of cobbles in the centre of the paths, which makes it very uncomfortable to walk, especially given the size of the pattern. I often find myself walking on the edges of the path on the way back out as my feet are sore from walking on the uneven cobbles. However, it is a nice complement to the wonderful architecture of the Maggie's Centre and is quite peaceful to walk on a sunny day. I also like the Anthony Gormley 'iron man' sculpture that overlooks your walk from the bank.

Very good service where they seemed to 'go the extra mile' to keep you happy…read more I went to their branch actually in Ladybank where the fixed my wheel alignment. A week later they put on two tyres on my Skoda superb at a reasonable price. The reason I am want to take the opportunity 'to give praise where it is due' is because they took a wee bit of extra time to look into a metallic rattle that I only noticed when I left the place. It turned out to be a stone in a brake calliper. I phoned them up just to thank them for their service, and I have never done that with any other car servicing place in 35 years of owning cars as I am very cynical when it comes to mechanics.
