I too received this junk mail. After doing some research I found they have a D rating with the BBB in Texas due to over 400+ complaints! `My advice for them wasting all of our time is to fill their pre-paid envelope they sent us with junk mail and then send it back to them. I got the same offer for $10,000 at 5%. I almost jumped in but the $37 fee halted the brakes. I wanted to know what is this about and thank goodness I did - I though it was a real credit card but only good for items on their catalog and a good chance I not interested in any of the items. BIG FAT SCAM!! Read this before signing up!! Thank goodness for the Internet and for people who share their experiences. This did not sound right at ALL, but I thought I'd do a little research, because who wouldn't want to switch to a low interest credit card? As many reviewers have already noted, this is not a credit card. What caught my interest was the company name -- Union Workers Credit Services. My dad was a big union man and I thought perhaps I was on their mailing list because I support unions, buy American, etc, No, this company is simply taking advantage of people who try to be ethical shoppers. In spite of the attempt to mislead any less-than-critical readers that this is a Visa/MasterCard with a low interest rate (only 5 percent), this is a buyers club. A really bad buyers club. There are lots of complaints available online that explain the process.... you pay your $37 to join their buyers club, and in return you get a catalog of really overpriced items (this company has NO affiliation with Costco, but I'm using it as an example -- it would be like buying a Costco membership in order to be able to purchase from their warehouse, except that Costco offers good prices and quality merchandise). So the catalog -- to which you will receive access AFTER you pay your membership fee, is filled with overpriced items that you can purchase on installments, with a five percent interest rate. Believe me, they have already made their money when you make your purchase, because the prices are marked up about 20 to 30 percent over retail. I love the suggestion a few people have made (Andy Rooney talked about this years ago and it's perfectly legal) -- fill up the return envelope with your junk mail, all identifying information removed, of course, and send it back to them. Make it nice and heavy, because they have to pay postage on the return mail they receive. It won't stop this company from preying on innocent victims (I just wonder how many senior citizens have fallen for this scam), but at least it will eat into their profits just a little. Don't walk, RUN in the opposite direction!! UPDATE: This company is banned from doing business in New York. Better than returning an empty envelope is to return their letter torn to pieces. Make sure that you remove the sections with your name address, approval code, etc., so that it's not tracked back to you. I also took it a step further and sent a fake blank check with the amount $0 written on the face. You can have additional fun and write out the check for the amount of the $37 fee and if they're dumb enough to deposit (probably are very dumb), the bank will return it unpaid and probably charge them a returned check fee. Search Google for "blank bank check" and you will find thousands of pages with images that you can print then trim the check to actual size. Glad I found this post before falling into their little scam. read more

DON'T DO IT. 0 stars negative if I could. The way they present their offer makes it easy to misunderstand what they are actually selling. Is what they are doing legal, yes I suppose. If you read the whole thing carefully, and have an understanding of how banks market their credit products you can see that they have included information that probably squeaks by their legal compliance requirements. But morally this is corrupt. Throughout the body of the "approval letter" Buzz words like pre-approved, platinum card, Master Card, Visa are blasting off the page in giant bold font. They are! You pay $37 upfront to get a card which enables you to buy products from their site! OR.. you can use your own money, or the card you already have for FREE, and buy stuff from the internet stll! Imagine that? ha. I really thought about trying this, but I felt in my gut that something with the "very high" credit limit was odd and no disclosures. I thought it would be great to just have one card in case of emergencies, THANK GOD I READ THESE REVIEWS!!! I'm glad I decided to research this "company" online when I got their letter in the mail. Even before that, as I was reading the letter, a little bell went off in my head, chiming "this ISN'T a Visa or Mastercard". And other posters are right, there are TONS of legal disclaimers and terms and conditions ACTUAL credit cards come with. I encourage you all to not fall for this scam, and to punish the scammers by packing the return envelope as full of junk paper, scrap metal, candy wrappers, whatever. The scammers are on the hook for the return postage, make them pay for as much as will fit in their business size envelope. read more

What got me was the letter stated I would receive a Master Card or Visa with an $10,000 credit limit for a unbelievable rate of 5%. If you look a little closer they state they are not affiliated with MasterCard or Visa. Big red flag!! The low interest rate. Another red flag. The fact they want $37.00 up front. Red flag. I knew this was a scam right away! I never.. ever pay a fee to have a credit card.. even if the interest is so low.. and they want the " membership" fee up front the letter states .. not to worry about being turned down by Mastercard or Visa .. if I was turned downed by them why am I pre approved..... hmmmmm .. if I am pre approved by this company they would know I have mastercard and visa . I just had to look them up to see what they were and here I am now.. thing is the people they really target won't research them and will just send them 37.00 and end up with a fingerhut type catalog. read more

I received this offer today...after goggling them I saw how they use to be elsewhere in TX and they were sued over fraud already. Well the postal service held all mails as the judge ordered. They were court ordered to refund all the monies. Well they moved to this current address in Dallas, TX. This is a fraud for sure! I to will be putting their return postage paid envelope back in the mail first thing in the morn empty! I suggest everyone do this. read more

Why are all the reviews so pissed off? I gave them 3 stars for being transparent. All the information is in the letter, and their website contains more. It's just a simple marketing letter looking to get your business, like every other marketing letter. It's not different than those car dealerships offering to give you lots of money for your old car or $100,000 in life insurance for $5 a month. Some people actually DO sign up for this. Not because they're duped but because they're looking for a cheap way to get the credit line posted to their credit (for credit improvement). I chose not to sign up, which is the choice every adult here has. Just throw it away or recycle the paper. No need to be childish and "retaliate" with sending them your junk mail or torn up letter. The credi card they are offering is really a paper card and not a credit card. They send out a catalog with a minimum monthly payment for products you can purchase. The fee they are asking is not worth it because other companies offer the same services FREE! read more

The BBB has a lot of complaints about this company and has given it a D-. NY has a law suit pending against the company. It is not so much a scam as deceptive service. The company offers a credit line to buy stuff from its catalog. Most of the items in the catalog are of poor quality. There are a few good items. It also offers some "member" discounts, but again not worth much to most people. It does not list the full price of any item it sells in the online catalog. It does tell you the monthly payment for an item, but does not tell you how many months you will be paying for it. Basically you will not know how much the item will cost you before interest fees, let alone how much interest you'll be paying. You can use Approval/Member number: 0278,595,6901 to access the online catalog. I got this number from the example it shows on the site. It will give you an expired warning, but you can ignore it and go to the catalog anyway. This is not affiliated with any Union in the World; the name is to make you believe it is Union affiliated. The use of MasterCard and VISA is just to make you think it is an actual credit card, but it is not and it most likely will NOT help you build your credit score up, though it is possible it could be used a to lower your score if you don't pay your bill and it goes into collections. It is a "credit line" to buy products from "Union Workers Advantage Online Catalog" and some other discount offers only. The majority of products are of low quality, as are the discount offers. You can not use the "credit line" for any other purpose. read more

All I say what was I thought an answer to my prayers, I am a single mom who has a lot of health issues, so I am not working a whole lot. Had it alll filled out right away, cause they said, We regret to inform you that the "Pre-approved" bull bull bull will terminate in 30 days if didn't they receeive the annual fee.Now they did say a platinum card will be permanently suspended. While they didn't use vaseline, they did say please! I just received a letter from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau with a settlement check because this company was a scam. My husband was the one who had signed up for this card (probably a couple years back) and didn't realize what it even was - a scam obviously. This company was taking a membership fee essentially and giving you a credit line for their products only. Luckily he got his whole $37 back since he sent it in by mail ($90-something if you did it online).
