I don't own (or plan to own) a credit card, for the very reason that I don't want to be in debt. But for purchasing things online, you'll need one, and Unionbank had a good alternative which is their EON card. It's a debit card with VISA, and I've been using it with Paypal, or buying plane tickets, booking hotels, and purchasing discount coupons (hehe).
As far as the card goes, it's great. Although I have experienced some websites that don't honor this card for reasons that some sites required this 3D authentication thingy (I would describe this better if I could) that isn't supported by the card. So yes, the card is great for online transactions, except for SOME.
What isn't so great about Unionbank is their customer service. It's horrible. They will reply to your email after a week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks... Truly disastrous. I suggest you call on the phone instead. Don't even try to ask the bank staff personally because through all the times I've asked them about my online account log-in problems, they don't know how to help me either.
This branch is the one where I opened my account in and they're okay. On usual days lines don't get too long, and there's always more than 1 teller on duty (unlike some banks in this neighborhood who only have just ONE person for everyone).
