You don't have to sell me on Uniqlo. I buy their logo free polo shirts and HEATTECH thermals all the time. I would stock up on socks and sweaters with abandon from the Uniqlos closer to my home in San Francisco. That was why it surprised me that I would seek out this familiar store at the mammoth Ala Moana Center. However, I had seen a local vlogger's YouTube video where he showcased the Hawaiian-exclusive clothing they sell here. Jamie W and I decided to drop by when we were at Ala Moana. Although not at the scale of the Tokyo Ginza flagship, it's one of the global chain's larger stores with an expansive multi-floor space. They offer the Brands Hawaiian Loco line, which is quite a distinct array of T-shirts spotlighting locally renowned businesses like Leonard's Bakery, Hawaiian Airlines, and Zippy's. I even bought one featuring a bowl of Zippy's saimin called Zipmin (Photo 4). I also really liked their line of aloha shirts because designs came from top quality Japanese block prints. I fell in love with one shirt based on Hokusai's "The Great Wave Off Kanagawa". I had never seen one like that before. They even offer opportunities to customize T-shirts and tote bags using exclusive designs from local artists. There's enough here to justify a shopping expedition. I really enjoyed checking this store out! They have local artist and local inspirations on their t-shirts which was so cool! It was a three story store with endless options to look through. There's even a station where you can select a design for them to press in front of you. At the self checkout you can just toss in your items and it will automatically know what you put in. Love the t-shirts designed by local artists. This is where we came to shop for souvenir! The store is nice and bright like all the Uniqlo. However, the line for design your own t-shirt/tote is so long. I waited almost an hour to get to a tablet. The staff are friendly. The guy who helped me set the t-shirts and tote bags on the machine nice and straight. When it's done, he also folded the t-shirts neatly, which I really appreciate the care. UNIQLO at Ala Moana Center (2nd & 3rd floor) is one of my favorite places to shop when I'm in Honolulu. I especially love their Hawaii exclusives. The store is super clean, well laid out, and it's easy to find what you're looking for. They have a great selection of both basics and local collabs. We have so much fun shopping here! I stop by every time I'm in the area just to see what's new. My brother comes here too when he's not in his chef attire, he's also a fan. While a lot of things are expensive in Hawaii, I find UNIQLO to be really reasonably priced. You get good quality without overpaying, which I appreciate. Overall Service: Even though checkout is mostly self-service with that cool system where you just take off the hangers and drop your clothes in a box (it rings everything up for you automatically), there's always staff around if you have questions. I am a single dude...so I have to buy my own underwear. Boxers and boxer briefs - not buying/wearing tighty whities - are $6.90...and Uniqlo offers a decent selection. They have a sale of 2 for $9.90 but i was charged the regular price. Not sure of the details for the sale but I didn't even know that there was a sale...so I didn't bother with returning the items as I was already prepared to pay the regular price. Most of their clothing is economically priced and Japanese clothing typically is of good quality - even if it is made in Bangladesh. Two story store is in the Ewa Wing of Ala Moana Center. In 1988, during administration work in Hong Kong for registering the brand, "C" was misread as "Q". This particular Uniqlo in the Ala Moana Center has two levels and takes a large corner section, next to the Nordstrom store. It's brightly lit and merchandise is always being updated. Sales are frequent and the merchandise is overall reasonably priced for the quality. I enjoy the AIRism shirts for walking. Keeps you cool and it's wash and wear. The character brand shirts are adorable and so trendy. Great for gifts. However, my favorite part of this store is the rainbow lit stairs. Eye catching and uplifting! You want to tap dance on those stairs ; ). Service is friendly and if you don't see your size, find an employee and they will check the inventory. I didn't think it was possible for me to love Uniqlo more, but one step inside this store proved me wrong. Located at the Ala Moana Center, this Uniqlo has three levels, so we couldn't pass it up. Years ago, when I first discovered this brand, I remember thinking that if a rainbow had a clothing shop this would be it... and what do I see as I walked to the back of the first floor? A staircase illuminated with all the colors of a rainbow! On the first floor, the entire section along the back wall is dedicated to shirts with Hawaiian-inspired designs. Some featured brands like Hawaiian Sun and Leonard's Malasadas. Others had sea life, cute characters and even familiar Hawaiian foods. When I saw a shirt with a smiling Spam musubi, garlic shrimp and poke bowl, I had to get it, because I doubt I'd find something similar outside the islands. There are also a couple kiosks for customers to create a shirt with their own custom design. You can upload your own picture, draw an image, select clip art and/or add text. Once submitted, the shirt will be printed and handed to you right off the press. They only offered this service on plain white t-shirts... it would have been nice if they had black available as well. You'll find a lot more merchandise on the second and third floors, but I didn't allow myself to explore much further otherwise I would've had to purchase a new luggage to haul it all home! read more

I like the place. There's a lot of clothing options. We picked a bunch of things. There's tons of variety, like a whole floor of T-shirts and a shelf of 50 colors of men's socks. I love the selection, just a bit expensive. Like the heat technology gloves were 30+ dollars. I love gloves...but there's - 50/50 chance I'm going to lose them so. The colors of the gloves were nice though. I also like the bags, because, bags are cool, and Uniqlo has a lot of them I can choose from. Kid clothing section limited. There are also aloha wear, local and graphic tees. This location has transformed check out process to several cashiers and a few self-checkout stations. Use free Uniqlo App, sign in, and use membership barcode to start the process. Sales Associates in fitting room and registers are very helpful. One of the best Uniqlo I have been to! The one i like was the one in Tokyo and then this one! They have so many Hawaii exclusive shirts and totes and the most fun part was some of the designs you got to design and customize it and they make it on site after designing. I visiited a couple of other Uniqlo stores in Santa Clara and Palo Alto malls and was not blown away. I never shop in this store, but was intrigued by the size and the creative window displays at the Ala Moana location which drew me in. I was very impressed with not only the modern, fresh store set up spanning two floors, but also the reasonably priced and good quality of their clothing pieces. I loved the wide variety of both local graphic t-shirt designs and other Japanese designs. Very attention grabbing set-up! I bought a few items. Keep in mind that for the Honolulu store, they do NOT offer price matching if there is a sale price offered online. On the upside, it seems like the store is well stocked, so if you really like something, you don't have to wait to have an order shipped to you. The sales associates were very attentive and friendly. The man who helped me was very rude, he didn't smile, wasn't friendly, and didn't even thank me after I paid for my purchase. It really affected my overall shopping experience. read more

I have a few Uniqlo moon bags but otherwise don't typically purchase clothing at Uniqlo. The exception, however, is if the shirts are customizable. We got a couple shirts with our dog on them and love it. The process was easy and enjoyable because of the help from Cori. We sent our images to the email provided, signed a waiver, customized our shirts ($24.90) on their iPads, and sent them through their printer. Located at the Ala moana shopping center, the store has two levels. I like to compare to this shop with Gaps, Banana republic, etc. the product price is also very reasonable and catered to the general customers. Their clothes are pretty fashionable and trendy and the materials are pretty good. Store clerks are very friendly and helpful, they greet us when we enter the store and say good bye and thank you when we leave. I especially like their light duty down jacket that can fold into a small pouch, easy to carry around when I travel. Since Banana Republic no longer has a store at Ala Moana shopping center, I find myself come to this store to shop more often. They also have an area that you can custom made your own T-shirt which is pretty unique but I never try it yet. I am happy that we have a store on this island so that we do not have to travel to mainland or Japan to shop any more. read more

Did a little last minute Christmas shopping and decided to check out Uniqlo clothing store . I remember coming here when they originally opened . I never came back only because being a local boy they don't have my size. I remember ordering a dri-fit shirt Xl and it was very tight I believe it's made for Japanese people 1 size smaller lol. So my XL was more like a Large in USA. Although now they have new prints supporting local business for example Matsumoto shave ice, Aloha Shoyu and Aloha Beer. That's pretty smart of them they can get more sales and capture the Asian market . Always crowded at Uniqlo but like I said this store is not for me . During Korea's and Japan's sweltering hot summers, I would always return buying gorgeous, well-made, lovely, summer dresses MADE IN KOREA, not China but, made in Korea! Korea's Uniqlo and also, Japan's Uniqlo always had in their inventory what I always needed; however, this Honolulu HI store and the London UK Uniqlo stores didn't have in their inventory women's stretchy underwear I really needed and wanted. My daughters asked to come here specifically for their custom printing service where you can design a t-shirt or tote bag using your own design or you can choose from a selection of approved designs. And it only takes 5 minutes to print! They also have a great selection of clothing that you can't find in any other UNIQLO stores. I also wanted to add that I love the fact that you can just throw your items in a bin and all your items are rung up. This store is huge! I've visited many prime Uniqlo locations but this one was probably my favorite. I saw through TikTok that this specific location allows you to screen print designs onto tote bags or t-shirts. I went to the booth on the bottom floor to check it out and there were many designs to choose from. You're allowed to customize and print personal photos or designs as long as they follow all the set of restrictions in place. The staff member Keola was amazing at educating me about all the different designs they had to offer. They had many designs from local artists as well as popular food places in Hawaii like Leonard's and Zippy's. He let me know that this location was 1 out of 3 locations that do the screen printing. He even showed me his favorite designs and how to use the tablet. I spent so much time just looking at the designs but he was very patient with me. s/o to Keola for great engaging customer service! I ended up choosing a design from the starry night Sumikkogurashi collection! Anything San-x related can only allowed you to choose one design. My friends also customized totes and they used the Zippy's collection in which they were able to use two stickers on their totes. It definitely depends on which collection you choose. The tote bag was $29.90 but it's a very sturdy tote bag with a pocket stitched inside and has a bottom that can stand. The store also has a bunch of graphic tees from local artists, infamous food places, and collaborations. I haven't seen any Jujitsu Kaisen tees in awhile and was able to pick up a Gojo one from here. Went there to print a custom shirt. For the price of $24.90, it's actually not bad. The quality of the shirt is definitely much nicer and you can customize how big or small your design can be. You can also print on tote bags too! I got their biggest size such is XL. Wish it came in bigger sizes. The print is not too bad either. The sales person who was working in the women's 1st floor area yesterday was super helpful, asked if I had their app yet and dangled the "bonus perk" of $10 off my first $75 purchase; I neglected to get her name! It was not my intention to reach that dollar amount, but wouldn't you know it...I totally exceeded it! I called the store the same afternoon to ask about a new collection advertised on their app with a release date of early June. The young-sounding girl who answered the phone had no idea what I was talking about and offered no additional help. (Hint: maybe you should've checked your store app) I called again the following afternoon to ask if this location participated in purchase online with store pickup. It's does not. The young-sounding girl (might it have been the same person?!) didn't seem particularly apologetic. While I know it's not her fault, you do as an employee "represent" the store. Sometimes I come here and find unique clothing. Uniqlo does neat artist collaborations that blend pop culture and high fashion in its UT graphics T-shirt collection. This is probably the only reason I come in to shop. Uniqlo UT uses the basic tee as a platform to make statements about fashion, art, music. Everyone has a t-shirt. And most like theirs to express their personality. Most of the time I'm only looking, but not loving the collaborations. Despite many attempts at making their stuff part of my everyday wardrobe I dislike their fit. I'm also not a fan of the durability and workmanship. Their tee may be fashionable casual wear at low prices but you generally get what you pay for at less than $15. Too much of their everyday items are basic wardrobe made of cheap material geared towards millennials attracted by the sharp visual merchandising. One artists collaboration I've found and enjoy is with three modern Japanese calligraphers: Hakuju Kuiseko, Hironobu Kukita, and Housui Yamaguchi. The UT Collection Shodo Art series is men's T-shirts. Each Japanese calligraphy design also features the artist's hanko. The inside neck displays the collaboration series, and the care tag has the artist's name in English. Something as simple as a Kukita plain white tee is elevated by printing the calligraphy "Wa" 和, on a background that resembles 和紙 washi paper. "Unique" "Clothing" = Uniqlo. read more

Fell absolutely in love the first time I discovered this in Japan it'd be on the top of the go to list and you know the excitement level was off the charts knowing it was finally opening here in Ala Moana. I love that they have their own uniqueness and ways to make it eco friendly either it's local support, UV protection, moisture wick comfort, collaboration details all at an insane reasonable price.
