I booked an appointment and went into the salon on a Saturday. I mentioned to them that I booked the 3 eyelash extension option. They asked if I wanted to consider the one eyelash extension per lash and I decided to do that instead. They confirmed which length I wanted which was the 10 mm. During the whole process, my eyes felt like they were burning. After 40 minutes, the lash technician said she finished putting on the extensions which I thought was odd since it typically takes an hour. I looked into the mirror and realized my eyelashes looked really full. I told them that it was burning. I confirmed with them that they put one extension per eyelash. They said it was normal and said it was one extension per eyelash except for the corner of my eyes (she said the corners have 3 extensions per eyelash)... I was a little skeptical but they convinced me it was one extension per eyelash. My eyelashes felt SO stiff, full, and uncomfortable. I paid them and gave tip... When I got home later that day, I looked at a lash that fell. I realized that they put 6 extensions onto each of my eyelashes... You can tell a huge chunk fell off my lashes already a few hours later and a day later... On a tight schedule this weekend, I wanted a quick facial and did not have time to go to my usual spot, Femina in Jackson Heights. I stopped in and got my eyebrows threaded and the gold facial. Just ten dollars more than their basic facial, the jour long treatment came complete with a private room, full steam, extractions, multilayered mask and massage. It was such a famtastic experience for such a great price. The service was top notch and the beauticians were very pleasant. The young lady who did my facial was excellent. (WARNING) please avoid ! my eyes are burning and damaged, I have no lashes on, and I did not get a refund. The lady who did my lashes could not speak a word of English, so when I told her my eyes were burning she couldn't understand what I'm saying. The lashes were mostly glued to my lids and to each other Which made my eyes burn so bad! At some point she spilled glue all over my lid and had to peel it off my eyelid when dried! The next day I went back for them to remove the lashes and give me a refund, which did not happen. They told me I can go back for another set but honestly i don't wanna go back. Don't get your lashes done here. Very disappointed with my eyelashes. They're super itchy. I've gotten my lashes done all over NYC and I've never experienced this. 3 days in and they're falling out. On tops of the crappy job, the woman used that time to tell me about all the physical assaults she's gone through and even a miscarriage. I'm all for talking to someone to work through your issues but wrong place, wrong time. I felt trapped on the table paying to listen to someone problems. I've had the super cheap $25 ones that leave me looking ghetto; I've had the super expensive $150 that you barely notice & take F O R E V E R to have applied. My experience here is with Julie. The first time I came in here was for my first original full set of lashes. She did an amazing job, was reasonably priced and it had a great natural look. The only aftercare advice she gave me was to not let water hit my lashes directly. Did not tell me when I need to come back in for a touch up (from what I found through online research, you can do your touch ups every 3-4 weeks) Anyways, I make an appointment for 4 weeks later at 2pm along with my friend. Her appointment is 1pm so I come in at 2pm. They tell me my appointment was for 6pm and I just had to wait until they had an opening. I ended up waiting about an hour because of their mistake. Julie comes out and immediately scolds me for waiting too long to get my lashes touched up. She says because I waited too long it'll take her a whole hour to do my touch up (the touch up only ended up taking 25 minutes) During the touch up she continues to scold me about messing up my appointment time. I tell her i called a week ago and said 2pm. Her response "you must've said 6pm" like ok Julie I know what I said. Anyways she ends up doing a slop job and put more eyelashes on one eye and they are falling out so quickly(will be attaching a photo). I talked to my friend after and she had the same experience of julie scolding her during the entire appointment. As a first timer getting eye lashes, I didn't know what to expect. I'm not a girly type of person because I didn't have time in the past to pamper myself but I felt like today was the day. I made my appointment via Yelp and response was very quick. I was able to get pricing and they were very flexible with time slots. I got the time I needed. When I arrived, Sami was the person who helped me throughout the whole process. She was perfect! Very informative, so helpful and asked me what I wanted and listened. We went over photos together. OH I also want to add that when I first arrived, she knew exactly who I was when I mentioned I had an appointment. And she knew what I came there for. That tiny experience made me realize how they make it personal and how they prepare. So I got the 3D lashes and it's not the type where they put the white paper under your eyelids, you keep your eyes open and look down. Pretty easy process for a beginner like me. Quoted $20 for content/design done previously for $11 (and less) and same costs only $8 @Gulzaar Beauty Salon in Jackson Heights. *Professionalism- All customers are sadly NOT treated equal. They have the favorites who get much better treatment, more experienced resources, higher quality service, & better prices. Then other non-VIP customers are dissed by the staff and often I've overheard the personnel thoroughly disrespect and tease customers in their absence / behind their backs.. very unprofessional & discriminatory. Specific Services *Facial- quality is hit or miss. Once a ceramic bowl was dropped on my face - no refund or discount. *Massage- quality is very hit or miss. Been rushed through my massages and interrupted in the massage room by staff when you're really trying to relax. *Eyelash extensions- bad experience both times, once my eyes were tearing & second time was on a cruise and had huge gaps by day 1 though I was VERY careful to follow instructions - no refund/discount. (Note- I was dismissively told maybe it was due to swimming but I do not put my head in the water so as to avoid messing up my hair & skin) *Henna- quality is very hit or miss. Also, see above on pricing. PROS: *Threading (face)- generally (not consistently) okay. For example, once an entire patch was missed on my face, very embarrassing until I could get back in to get it fixed since I had plans all weekend. I was running errands on Steinway and desperately needed my brows done so I popped into unique and I've been a regular Ever since that day ... The ladies are so nice , professional and caring . I have to admit this is the best my eyebrows have ever looked , she got the shape and arch perfect I don't even have to use makeup anymore on them !!! So happy !! I also have done waxing here (chocolate wax) very cool and supposedly pain free (yeah right lol ) but does the job ,nice n smooth .. Silky smooth lol Also have done a facial and wow my skin was rejuvenated , glowing and gorgeous , took about an hour but it was so relaxing I was literally light headed when I finally got up . Original post: Listen. If you want to lol like a real-life Snapchat filter, you NEED to come here and book an appointment with Sibi as soon as possible. This was my first extension process, so I was a bit nervous. I needed a clean and good and reasonably-priced place to do eyelash extensions for me. No eye irritation or infections for me. I called and asked Sweetie (the nicest Auntie) over the phone about a walk-in appointment, and she called back and worked out a good time for me. Then she left me in Sibi's capable hands. Sibi came, explained the available styles, talked over what would work best for me (I wanted something very natural so she recommended the Nova set), and then cleaned my eyes and got to it. It was a very relaxing process, just lie down, close your eyes and dream. You can totally fall asleep, in fact she said I could snore lol. Before I knew it, the application was over and and she was wishing me luck with school and all. So come here, and get Sibi to do your lashes! Also, the salon is cute and cozy and clean. Sweetie (I believe the owner) was absolutely welcoming & down to earth. I was very happy with the service & the lady who did my lashes was pretty sweet as well! They said an hour for lashes but she took 2 hours and 30 minutes. I left the salon happy regardless of the long hours -- lashes started to fall off. Not a happy camper. The lady who did mine didn't take off the outgrown one and put the new lashes on top . So they look really messy. I cannot day enough good things about this place. They are literally the best lash and brow salon I've been to period and trust me I've been to ALOT. Recently I had a very bad experience with a different lash salon that I had purchased through Groupon (for 120pcs mink lashes) and the lady put maybe 30-40pcs max with a lot of gaps. It started to fall off same day and the pic below is of Day 1. Not to mention she falsely advertised and put on synthetic instead of mink. Now I'm going to Europe for vacation so I urgently asked unique beauty salon to fill them in to give it more volume and they gave me an appointment right away and did them flawlessly with high quality mink lashes. I just moved to the area and decided to make this my go to eye threading salon for the past 5 months. Every time I leave I always love my eyebrows so I give that service 5 stars however, today I tried the eye lash extentions since they always ask me where I go and how they have a girl there so I said ok. My appointment was at 12:30 I tried to make it earlier but they were booked. I got a call from them around 11 that day to confirm I was still coming and I said yes ! When I got there at exactly 12:30 I was told to give them a few minutes ... that few minutes turned Into 35 min and only then when I said something like hey how long is the wait because I have work ... they then said oh ok now we will take off your previous lashes ... I said ok. So I'm laying there and the woman was very nice however the removal burned me and I'm not used to this because this is not my first time getting lashes. She kindly led me to the bathroom while my eyes were closed and it was a little weird but I washed whatever it was off and then I was fine. FYI I was NOT told the removal that burned me was going to be an extra 10 dollars which I didn't appreciate. I've never paid for removal if I was getting new lashes. The girl that did my lashes was okay... but to be honest I didn't feel as welcomed and I felt like she didn't have everything prepared. I was in a rush already because appointment time was not honored. So I got there at 12:30 and was done by 2:40 ... I don't think I'll return here. I do like the way they did my eye lashes but I'm not 100 percent happy because I asked for dramatic and I got more of a natural look. I feel ripped off by the service and it ruined my whole day because of the time waiting I was late for work and had to rush which I didn't want to do on my Sunday afternoon !
