Fonce Glow is literally the best gem in LIC! I used to go to Greenpoint to get my eyebrows done, but it's a hike an inconvenient. I can walk straight to Fonce and get beautified! Threading- I am SO picky with my eyebrows and don't trust easily. They're difficult because they grow in long and untamed but these ladies get it just right between the threading and shaping. The eyebrow tint is one of my new faves and I've always been skeptical it would look unnatural but they make sure it's not over the top! Lashes- I can't say enough good things about their lash game! I'M AN ADDICT NOW! I can't live life without them. I always put on heavy eye makeup (shadow and liners) to make my eyes look bigger (I'm Asian). Since I got the lashes, they've opened up my eyes in a natural way so I don't hafta do my heavy eye makeup everyday! Love the natural femme look the lashes give me- got a new job with the confidence (I wish I was kidding lol)! Started with cluster lashes since it was my first time but since they've coached me through the care process I've graduated to individual lashes, which they've advised are healthier for your eyelashes :) Facials- I have fine baby hairs on my face and since I have black hair they're dark. The fonce glow has helped brighten up my face, is super soothing, and makes me feel so clean after! Customer service- both Myra and Sarah are awesome at what they do. They don't suggest stuff just to suggest stuff, but they give recommendations based on the individual. Plus they're so sweet and accommodating. Love them! read more

HORRIBLE!!! The lady clearly doesn't know what she's doing! I went saying that I want a brow, wax and tint, and she seemed clearly displeased that it's a wax instead of a thread and then I understood why - she clearly doesn't know how to do it very well. I explained that I want light brown and not too thick brows. Unless you wanna have big, huge, bushy brows, this is not the place for you. She doesn't know how to make them thin and shape. They are bushy, giant, and horrible. I kept on asking her to make them thinner, and she was befuddled, and they are still way thicker than I can take. I absolutely hate it. Oh, and not to mention, it was so expensive for the horrible quality that I received ! I was charged $66 for a wax & tint!!! read more

I have come to Fonce Glow twice now for brow shaping and tinting. I have enjoyed the services offered and have been very impressed with the kindness of those providing the services. Recently moved to the area and found this place. I thought it was going to get magic brows for $25+ but honestly I just got my brows cleaned and my eye lids all sticky. The quality of the wax was not good as it was not sticking well and stayed on my skin after the fact. Will not pay $25+ again for a bad quality service read more

I'm not one to normally write reviews but my experience here truly warrants one. Myra and Mona are both amazing! I just moved to the LIC area and have been looking for a threading place in the neighborhood. I walked past this place yesterday and decided to give it a shot despite seeing no reviews on Yelp. I got my eyebrows and upper lip threaded - both look great and was painless. Myra suggested I get my brows tinted too. I was apprehensive at first since my wedding was on Saturday but it came out looking amazing. To top it off, the ladies noticed my eyelash extensions were growing out in different directions and fixed them free of charge. Prices were favorable, and the establishment appeared clean. Employees were also nice and seemed eager to please, even when trying to up-sell other services. I have been getting eyelash extensions for years. All of the establishments I've patronized have lie-flat beds to make the experience as comfortable as possible. Unfortunately, that is not the case here. A number of salon chairs face mirrors which is where most of Foncé's services are rendered, including eyelashes and, from what it appears, brows. This means clients have to crane their head to rest on the top of chair. It is uncomfortable and not ideal for a treatment that can take up to an hour. The extension process did not take that long which was very surprising to me. Most times, a full set takes 1.5 hours (for me, at least). Here, it took less than 45 minutes. What I found out is that Foncé uses "lash flares" of cluster lashes for their extensions. This is an absolutely no-no (!!) in The lash extension world: cluster lashes cause lash breakage and infections. They are also very heavy, and can cause permanent eyelash damage. What a terrible eyelash extension experience. Unless you are looking for super fake, super bad quality lashes, do not come here. I told her exactly what I typically get (at another place) and she blamed me for not expressing that I didn't want them "super full" - shouldn't you speak to your clients, see what they are looking for? She barely spoke to me. I had a moment when I first sat down when I felt like I should say nevermind and run out, why I didn't listen to my gut, I don't know. From the first 5 minutes she pinched my eye several times with her tongs and one time poked by forehead. After seeing what a disaster was on my eyes, I asked her to remove the lashes because they were so terrible and she said it will be painful, I started to tear up and she out of no where took out some cream that allowed her to easily start removing them. I also didn't understand why the lashes closer to my nose were longer than the lashes towards the end of my eyes... again my fault because I told her I typically have 12 length lashes. I would assume the person doing the lashes would either take into consideration how odd this looks as say something OR at least make sure I knew it would look weird - if I said yes that's fine - that's on me.. but again no question, or convo about this. All in all this experience was the worst. There are better eyelashes places in LIC, spend your money there. read more

Yesterday I went to see if i could get a facial As my regular esthetician was away and to see if I could get my eyebrows fixed as a previous place messed them Up. I went to the queens location as I live in the neighborhood. The ladies there are really sweet . I left w my eyebrows luminated w a tint and they look so nice and my face is smooth. The first time I came here I had my eyebrows threaded, laminated, and a lash lift. It was my first time for all services. I liked the threading but felt that the lash lift didn't really last. I had my makeup done for a wedding and the makeup artist told me that's not how the lash lift is meant to look even for the first time. It's not a cheap service so I called to see if they could do it again. I was told to see "Julia". When I went back in to the salon I felt like she was super defensive. This made me very uncomfortable since I made it clear I was pleased with the other services. I felt like she almost was implying it was my fault that the lift didn't look right. Apparently I blink a lot when having my eyes worked on. I can't be the only person in the world who does this. But maybe I am! I've had lash extensions elsewhere a dozen times and never had any issues with my emphatic blinking. I was completely turned off but thought I'd give this place another try and give them another chance. I was just going to to get my eyebrows laminated and try the eyebrow tint. I showed up exactly on time but I guess Myra wasn't there yet so I ran an errand and came back. She was 20 minutes late and I was given no explanation or apology. I was so confused when Myra arrived because the last time I was there she told me her name was JULIA. She was very thorough with my brows but the eyebrow tint was meant to last 6 weeks and it only lasted 5 days. Because I ran back from my errands I was a little sweaty so maybe that's why it didn't work. I'm sure they will just blame me again that the service didn't work if I call. So I'm not. It's the salon's job to know how to provide the service to anyone. It's a bummer because this place is right in my neighborhood and I really wanted it to work out.
